Ordered my dozen a week ago - at checkout I was like “what the hell lemme type in THP for a coupon code” cuz I noticed y’all were shooting vectors on the longe range ranch fairy test video. Didn’t know if it was a thing even. And BOOM 10% off. Can’t wait to get my arrows! 300 spine with total weight that can range from 565 all the way up to about 700 after I figure out what broadheads I’ll be using. It’ll be 565 with my current trocars but gonna play with different weight points before deciding on some single bevels.
I’m also running out of time for all this haha

Jake, I'd go with the Tuffhead personally...1-piece design means all other things being equal (flight, sharpness, etc), you're less likely to have an issue with the ferrule and set screws either coming loose or catching the ferrule on bone as it passes thru. Those Evo's are legit. Just a few more weeks!!! Good luck this season, always love the videos guys

I absolutely love you guys. Y’all have some great times together and I love the camaraderie y’all have. Everyone will drop everything to help you track and haul out a buck. I respect you guys and seriously watch 5-10 episodes a day on prime video. I’m in season three and it sucks because I’ll be catching up to the end soon. Y’all have me absolutely pumped for this coming season and have inspired me to keep at it. I don’t have the luxury of private land so I have to hunt public land like y’all. Wish I had a group of friends like y’all. It’s just me out here in North Carolina so I have to adapt my hunting and think of how to get the deer/bear out when I walk several miles in. I want to say a really appreciate all you guys. I have a challenge for y’all if your up to it and I would love to see it. Come hunt the NC mountains on public land. I’d like to see how y’all hunt it and hopefully I can learn some things. Good luck this season fellas shoot straight and never quit.

Jake, I’d personally go with Tuffheads out of those two. The best option design wise is probably the samurai, and I’m sure durability would be about equal. But, those single bevel evolutions and Tuffheads reputation for being indestructible I think would more than do what you want it to this season. I’m a sucker for single piece designs. Even though I’m shooting the Iron will Wide Solids this year.

200 grain broadhead for a whitetail little much and 4 fletch will make you have more spin which kills your accuracy out passed 40. Great set ups for the bows and stuff. I myself like to be 480 grain arrow but I also stretch it to 60 for deer. I agree collars are a must on arrows 14 foc is plenty. 18t is getting up there. Drastically dropping speed especially in single cam bows. Speed doesn’t kill and I get that but there’s a happen medium. Best of luck to you guys and the hot wire sight is money 20-35 on pins and floater. Can’t beat it I built a sword punisher 3 pin set up 20-30-40 bottom pin floater. I will be fallowing along best of luck guys!

I used the Grizzly Stik 200 grain Samurai last fall. The buck was quartering to me slightly. The arrow entered the base of the neck broke the scapula. The tip of the broadhead broke off and prevented a complete passthrough. 28" draw @ 65# 654 TAW. We did harvest 4 deer with the 200 grain Samurai. Mine was the only one that did not pass through.

Thanks for the pointers (e.g., Zack on why he likes the quiver adjustability). I watched "STABILIZERS for Bow Hunting - Testing the Difference" by DIY Sportsman, where he used the Mantis X8 system to measure his movement, with the different stabilizer scenarios. I appreciated the comments on making changes for species (pronghorn, elk, deer)...good to be reminded one size may not be best, when you plan to hunt animals of very different sizes.

Jake- all else being equal, the shorter more compact broadhead will be stronger, I think that’s more important than having a higher mechanical advantage of the longer blade. If a tip folds over, the arrow will absolutely deviate from its path; I believe you may have some first hand experience in this ;).

    • @officerfoxtrot3633
      @officerfoxtrot3633 3 роки тому

I agree with you on choosing the Evolution, that’s what I would use. But… Grizzlystik isn’t exactly an average company using crap materials or thin blades. I doubt it would have any durability issues.
Which one is better? Ashby recommends the long 3-1 style profile as being more beneficial and the best option. However, on whitetail and elk I don’t believe you need to go full Ashby to get the job done. I believe they’d be equal in results.

Jake, I went thru something similar, but turns out it was a slight inconsistency in my grip. When it’s on, everything flies great. For Jake and Zach, as far as broadheads, I have the Magnus black hornets and stingers, cutthroat, tuffhead 265’s, and the tuffhead evolutions 200 and I’m shooting the 200 evo’s this year. They fly really well and seem damn near indestructible. My Tuffhead 265, last year after a pass thru and burying 16 inches in the dirt was still sharper than the one I tried to touch up myself earlier in the year. So I know they’ll keep that edge once you get it there. I’m really excited to see the 20 degree edge do some damage.
Good luck with your decision and have a great year!

@Jake Your bow set up is really similar to mine mate! I'm at 725 grains. I hightly recommend Abowyer broadheads. Found them on an oldtimers forum. Great mechanical advantage arrows just like the Ashby 315 design from Grizzlystik. But way cheaper and a lot lighter obviously. Great arrows. Came wildly sharp out of the package. Couldn't improve the edge on a 6,000 grit stone.

I LOVE your guys content and watch every video almost as it comes out. And I’m pro heavy arrow and a good, “scary sharp” coc broadhead. But you guys are shooting modern day compounds. Shoot any of those set ups but cut it down to 470-550gr total arrow weight and you will still blow through heavy bone WITH waaayyyy better trajectory. I’ve watched your set ups evolve and in 2 years you’ll be laughing at how heavy (650-740gr) you’re currently shooting. Any of those 2 blade single bevels are good heads. If you’re shooting an elk with a trad bow. I’ve killed a pile of deer with them. But you can get away with more cut (like the black hornet and IW) and still get through bone and pass through. Ted and Greg’s set up are perfect. I think you’re forgetting that “plan B arrows” (bad hits) aren’t just always going to hit 3 inches of solid bone. You’re going to hit gut or low lung and come up on a half alive deer the next morning, or lose it, and wish there was a bigger hole. Your bows are powerful, shave off a little weight, get a head that will go through bone and pass through while still making more than a 1 and 1/16 inch 2 blade slit. I went down the road your on, you’ll end up coming to a set up more in line with Greg and teds. And throw away the grizzly stick, shoot the tuff head. Grizzly stick is just over hardened stainless steel. Making it too brittle. That single bevel grizzly stick is gunna chatter when you hit bone. Too much pressure on the rotating edge for a brittle steel. Love y’all. Hope you know none of this is ill will!

After seeing RF shoot a hog with those TF Evo 200s, I would love to see Jake smoke some antlered critters with them.

The coolest thing about you guys is the relatability to the common man ie: public land, no guides, normal vehicles, not publicized sponsorships etc. This vid removed you guys a touch from the everyday hunter with the sponsored items. It’s all good, who wouldn’t want that? You guys work hard and deserve major success, looking forward to the content this upcoming season.

But what they are sponsored by is affordable great gear. Bear and trophy ridge are awesome.

Hey guys thanks for the video and all the awesome content. Second year bow hunting, inspired by your videos to try something new and branch out from rifle hunting. Killed a nice buck last year at 5 yards on the ground. I've got my bear cruzer shooting well with some Magnus stingers on 515 grain arrows. I wanted to try Nockturnal lighted nocks because they look super helpful but when I tried them they made my POI drop by inches. Anyone have any idea why?

Hey Greg! I was wondering how you were able to make the Ironwill Broadheads compatible with the Day Six arrows?! Did you use there insert/outsert system or Ironwills? Wondering how you went about that. Thanks so much- appreciate the help.

The human eye picks up green the best. green light nocks are best for low light. idk about filming though

I notice Aaron is shooting Cutthroat SB. What made you choose them? I've been trying to decide between Cutthroat 200gr SB and Tuffhead Evolution 200gr.

Humans can see more shades green than any other color and our eye is better at picking it up. Thats why a lot of of 'dot' optics are going to green. And probably why you can see the green knocks better.
