- A 60-yd punt with 5.85 seconds of hang time. Marquette King of the Raiders and Jake Dombrowski of the Bills hit a few of the biggest football punts Kohl's Kicking has ever recorded while at our NFL Training Session in California.

"i kicked a football this morning. should be landing any minute now" pat McAfee haha
Trevor Bullis lol I remember that quote on a nfl films vid of punting
As a former punter most people watching a game will never see how great it is to have a punter kick not just for distance , but the height and with a tight spiral . It was fun to watch this .
1:38 he put his soul into that kick
Tay k Sign language teacher obviously u heard it
No cap
and then walked off
nice ball. nice ball. NICE BALL
BillyGeek1 lol he said that right when you said that
The farthest I think was 64 yards
2:23
I was proud of myself for making it 20-25 yards at the annual thanksgiving neighborhood game LOL
JediMindTricks183 and I was of myself for hitting on 40 yards but damm their kicks tho
What??im a freshman in high school and can kick about 30,35 yards
Lol and I was proud of 15-20 ;-;
kickin 50 yards with no punting experience
Im a freshmen punter at rancho Cucamonga high school and i punt only 50 60 on a good day but these guys are great they can do it all the time
Why is this raiders punter so damn ripped???!!!!!
Matthew Taleghani That's how we roll. We may not have the best skill position players, but if our special teams had to fight, I'm putting money on ours...
Matthew Taleghani I know my man is jacked
Now Broncos
I thought he retired
Marquette King
the 70 yds into the wind 5.65 was prolly the best one this dude is absolutely amazing
A 5.85-second hang time means the ball went 45 yards high.
Nice math, man. Did you use
D=((Vo)(t))+((1/2)(a)(t^2))?
Eric Matthews somebody took physics too
What about taking into account that the ball has direction and spin, wind, altitude, direction kicked etc, ex if the ball turns over or doesn’t turn over you would come up with a different height even though both may have gone the same height. Same goes for a round ball thrown as a knuckle ball or one with a back spin. much love
Imagine how far the ball would travel in space
@@austenschneider9468 I am. And it's bending time.
Didn't realize PC Principal was such a punting enthusiast.
+Ty Ward xD
Bruh 😂😂😂
ok guys listen up
70 YARDS?!?!? WHAT?
INTO THE WIND TOO
70 yards from Line of scrimmage, so 83-85 yards
A 5.85-second hang time?! Check out the biggest punts we've ever captured on film!
+Kohl's Kicking Camps im a wide receiver in 8th grade but i had a serious hand injury so my coach told me to learn how to punt because he still wants me on the team. i can punt a ball about 30 yards is that enough.
+Jackson Walsh aim for about 40-45 yards right now bro. Then the older you get, aim 45-60 yard punts. Pro's are putting it about 60-70 yards down field. But in 8th grade, punt at 40 yards should do, but in high school, that will classify as more of a pooch punt
+Jackson Walsh I'm in 8th grade and I'm hitting just under 60
Is punting 50 yards good at age 13?
Severin Beastmode is it from where line of scrimage or from where your standing. And also what ball.
I can kick it 20 yards. That's on the line of scrimmage. I sign autographs at the local high schools if anyone wants to witness the greatness.
i am 11 and avrage 35 to 40 yard punts with a hand time of 3 seconds
ERIC CALDWELL thats really good im 14 and can hardly kick 50 yards with 4 seconds hang time way better than me at that age!
ERIC CALDWELL I'm not a punter but, I'm a kicker and I agree with the guy above me, that is great for an 11 year old.
I'm 12 and I can kick 37-40 yards and average a hang time of 4.43
I’m 10 and average 20-25 yards with a hang time about 2.48
Marquette King is jacked for a punter
He used to play receiver
Our punter yesterday with us up 18-12 and 40 second left in the game his heels were on the 25 yard line and he punted it to the opposite 8 yard line. Greatest punt I’ve ever seen and he is a defensive end who just started punting
+Kohls Kicking Camps I was the kicker at my high school this year. My longest punt I had was 60 yards. That was before a game. Longest field goal was 44 yards at practice. Might play again next year since it's my last year.
These guys are killing it on the hang time
Feels so good when the ball hits the sweet spot then look up and see it towering in a nice spiral.. But watching these videos I keep getting that crappy feeling of it going off the side of my foot!
Marquette gets that ball so high. He's one of the best at it. His hangtime must be ridiculous.
I can’t imagine what that looks when you’re there in person
It's not so much the distance, it's the height. I have punted and kicked since I was fifteen and I can only recall a few times where i hit over 5 seconds hang time. These dudes did it ten times in a row. Very impressive
5:09 thts wht she said
👌👍
Never have I been so entertained by punters
why is everybody showing off for. Get it on film then you start bluffing. These guys are NFL Pros you guys aren't even at the level they are.
0:59 ... 70 Yard kick.
Does anyone else find it weird and a little annoying that so many people feel the need to give some random info on what they did or can do? Hell a lot of them aren't even on topic and have nothing to do with the video. Hey guys... I ate 3 slices of pizza while rubbing my stomach at the same time, is that good?
Are these punts measured from "where they actually kicked", or are they measured from "the line of scrimmage?"
+Paul Kinman We always measure from the line of scrimmage.
+Kohl's Kicking Camps MY BROTHER HAS KICKED A FOOTBALL SO FAR HE KICKED A 90 YARD PUNT
+Mike R why u lying?
+Mike R SURE
+Mike R lier
Impressive, the gold standard for hang times has really shifted over the last 10 or so years, a 5 second hang time was a top of the range punt but now it feels as though the 5 second hang time is a lot more common with guys hitting them quite easily now
Wow this is incredible. I'm sure punting in that elevation helps with the ball flight being that the air is much thinner over there in cali in those high elevations. Punting in Louisiana is different but not much different, just a slight more resistance on the ball in air due to the amount of moisture. Regardless these are some incredible punts!!!
***** well not 15, but I get your point, it's right below the mountains and in socal, not the sierras or san gabriel mountains
darthdj31 highest point in louisiana is 584 ft lol
1100 ft doesn’t really impact ball flight. You don’t see a huge change until over 4000- 5000 ft. I’m not sure how humidity would impact the punting though
3:04 I randomly guessed the hang time and got it perfectly
Being an NFL punter looks like so much fun. You get paid like a million a year to boot that thang. You don’t need to have a million plays memorized, you don’t need to be super fast or strong, and you rarely get injured. Obviously I know there’s technique and stuff involved, but damn, being an NFL punter looks like so much fun.
Plus I love punting stuff. More of a soccer player personally, but I have fond memories of punting balls the 60% of the field back in middle school. I got an assist in a game once by punting it over the entirety of the defense save the goalie and one of our strikers putting it past him.
That sound brings me back to the glory days
Anyone ever see that episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia where the gang tries out for the Eagles and Dee hits a huge punt in tryouts? The scout even says "holy s***" when she hits it. That first punt from Marquette reminded me of it lol
damn Marquette
What I'd like to see more is football players trying to punt using the soccer method (more of a side kick). This way, you use more hip power and torque. At my school, we have a freshman that's on varsity because he uses this method. Both professional sized balls weigh about the same and I don't think the shape would really matter if you're hitting it in the right spot.
some field goal kickers use the inside of the foot like a soccer player on shorter field goals. but even soccer players use the top of the foot when theyre looking to get the most power and/or distance out of their kick. that motion and the fact that the top of the foot is much more dense than the side of the foot provides the most power and speed. but who knows...im sure theirs someone out there that can belt a football 65 yds with a soccer style kick. i'd really like to c these kicks in super slo-mo. its amazing how unvarying their technique is every single time the punt. they r like machines!!
I don't think he means the inside of your foot by saying "side kick". He wanted to say that soccer players tend to kick with their leg not entirely vertically to the ground but with a slight angle, thus not only using the front upper leg muscles but as he mentioned some other muscles and the slight rotation of your body as well. Just search for a video where a soccer goalie blasts the ball away, some of them can kick it ~75 yards (70 metres) on a regular basis.
Using the inside of your foot however is used to kick with more accuracy but it sacrifices some powerm at least in soccer
Hans Müller Yes that's what I meant.
Sponge . I creates power but its easy to mess up and have a horrible kick. In my jv team im the only punter (1/3) that doesn't go with my leg out to the side and i have more constant results than than the other 2. The varsity punter also goes from the side and he has line drives most of the time.
Marquette King can punt that ball, he had a very strong leg that gives him outstanding hang time and distance on his punts
Marquette king is so much bigger in person. We went to same high school and he talked with me and he is a friend of the family
That first one from Marquette was maybe the prettiest punt ever
When a 57 5.28 punt is small, you are freaking insane
I've honestly never seen a black punter, I don't know why I've never thought of that until now.
But in madden hang time doesn't matter it's about making the ball go out inside the 20
Tommy Glodo hang time does matter tho...even in madden, say you're punting from your own 25, you want to punt it deep but also let your specialists get down there, and if you have low hang time, you essentially give the returner a good chance
Hangtime kinda matters
If you punt a line drive 70 yard punt, then you give the returner a good 10-15 yard head start to catch the ball and start evading people. It's called overkicking your coverage. It can allow returners to score easily
It's weird watching this video and realizing halfway through that it's your home town. I mean aside from being embarrassed that it actually took me that long to realize it, I was also confused about why two NFL punters are kicking at a random D3 private college
that punt of King's 5:85 might have ice sickles on the ball when it lands lol
Back in the 80's, we were punting over 6 hang time and 80-85 yds in the air. I would punt from the goal line and wouldn't leave until the ball went through the other end zone (on the roll).
😂
Being a punter must suck because you only go on the field when your team failed...but at the same time a good punt can win a game, not directly but pinning the opposition within their 5 can make such a difference
Inspiring.
Mans kicking spirals
SWEET BABY JESUS
Got a 50 with 4.7 the other day, is that good...?
That's pretty good stuff! What year in school are you?
+Kohl's Kicking Camps I'm sorry It would have been a 40 from yard of scrimmage, I'm a junior in high school in the north east. Punter only
+poopmgee100 Awesome, a 4.7 is pretty good with any distance. We'll be up in PA this December on our National Showcase Tour. Would love to see you out there. You can check out KohlsKicking.com for more info if you're game. Hope the season is going well!
Breh I punted a FEW INCHES with a hang time of 00.1 seconds
Lol @ the people below who think a rugby ball wouldn't go further than an American football.
Ikr, the Oakland kicker is so ripped I don't know how Aussies could think that their players are the best kickers in the world
+Frank Block. Aussies easily the best and longest punters.
Nah fam
It's all about timing and the ''sweet spot''. Big muscles mean buggar all in Aussie speak.
Just...wow
Are they measuring the punt distance from line of scrimmage or just the distance traveled?? Makes a big difference. 55 yards is only about a 41 yard punt which is average.
I'm almost positive based on the hang time and yardage that they are measuring from the line of scrimmage. Also, there is another Kohl's video where these NFL punters punting the ball 75+ yards through the air in a competition.
I really want to punt because then I can play for the buccaneers and my dad thinks I got nowhere but when my dad asks what I have been doing I will say NFL and he will be proud🏈
Is it harder to kick further with an American football than with an Australian football, because some of the 12 and 13 year olds in my team can crack 55 meters (60 yards) and the biggest kick we have had in AFL is a 105 meter kick (114 yards).
65.85 5.65 5.71 5.69 5.45 5.39 5.41 5.35 5.37 5.15 5
I know very little about American football, but this is called a Garryowen kick in rugby and most pro level 10's would be able to accomplish this height and distance. If you want to see a truly huge kicker you should check out a guy called Francois Steyn. Dude on multiple occasions has hit near on 70 yard place kicks (a field goal in AF) he's a freak
I punted one about 40yds from the line of scrimage. I didn't measure the hang, but it was about late 3's or early 4's. is that good for a freshman in high school?
good job
And King is out of the league last I knew. We still have the scottish Hammer for Cleveland though...he gets alot of exp. Each game😂
Edit: that was pointing out King should be still kicking balls. Unless I'm mistaken and he is back on a roster
is the main aim in nfl to kick it farther or is it better to have hang time?
Probably hang time as long as you can get a touchback if needed or close to the opposite end zone.
Hang time is important because it allows the special teams unit to run down the field and tackle the kick returner before he can start running. Distance on a punt can be crucial if you are deep in you own territory.
nickrunaway2 Hang time to allow little or no return
I'm a punter and it's all about hang time, the more Hang time the better chance of your offensive line and receivers to get to the punt returner and stop him before he gets any yards
nickrunaway2 you want to find the happy medium
is that Randall Cunningham?
ECWnWWF who the black punter? Nah he Marquette king of the raiders well I think broncos rn or retired
@@christophersalinas2722 he said he is going to play another year
My hang time is around 3 secs. And I thought that was good?
Let’s meet in bemidji this summer and see where all the bemidji boys rank with the rest of tbe Squad
King is ripped for a punter, looks like Reggie Bush out there
Marquette King all day!
Imagine trying to catch these things
Well i mean THEY DO
What kind of work-outs can I do to improve my distance and hang time. I don't work out at all and play recreational football but I want to improve my punting. As of last week I've done 60 yards (not from scrimmage) with about a 5 sec hang time. What work-outs are recommended for better results?
the footballs look like there getting shot out of cannons if you didnt see them kick it you would be like wtf did that
Good kick
I kicked a 65 yard punt in a game and 60 yard field goals the first time I ever tried it when I was in 8th grade
The varsity coach from a different district was recruiting me a whole year before I was going to go into highschool and told me he was going to put me on the freshman team and see how I did and then bump me up to varsity mid season if I did great. Sadly enough, a few days earlier I agreed to move out to Cali to live with my dad. Dumbest decision I ever made.
Final tabling MTTs and punting stacks thats what I'm all about
I kicked a soccer ball about 5 years ago. It should be coming down in about 10 more years.
Is the yardage accounting the 12-15 yard dropback in punt formation?
+Matthew633 We do not include this yardage. We measure from the line of scrimmage.
mat mcbriar was my idol
In aussie rules football there have been goals scored from as far away as 80m (~87yd). Do you think it's the difference in ball shape and weight that makes this possible, or is it just that punters also kick for huge high arcs instead of just distance?
Those balls are easier to kick
@@778piggy easier to kick but less aerodynamic
nice ball
This makes me wanna punt a football
I'm no NFL punter but I'm 46, was just punting from five behind midfield (the 45) and kicking over the endzone still (65 yards+). I recorded it but it's about a second less hangtime, so not as high of an arc. If these guys wanted to, I bet they could stretch it further than what they're getting here. Their drops are perfect and everything is a tight spiral.
There's a high school player that kicks these kinds of punts on my provincial team. But it's a Canadian ball, so it flies farther.
DANG
He has to think NFL players are getting blocked and tackled he's not
Hmm when I used to play in high school I punted very well 50 to 65 on average with a 4.8 to 5.2 of hang time I wasn’t very consistent with my steps but I made it work
Kohl's Kicking Camps Do the pros you work with tend to use Leather or Synthetic cleats?
xxfootball95xx usually leather cleats are used. I'm a current college punter and always use kangaroo leather cleats
What was the wind like when they were punting this?
Scott Richards 5-7 mph gusts
Isn't this bills punter a free agent now ?
They're wearing Nike Tiempos and Mercurials nice
If you ever go to a football game and you arrive early you can watch the punters practice punting and the balls literally land over the stadium how high they go. Literally higher than the stadium which can be 75-100 yards high. Stadiums are way bigger in real life trust me.
Australian rules football players are the best kickers of a oval ball, there have been plenty of kicks made by Australian football players bigger than those kicks.
We would agree that there have been bigger Aussie kicks, because American footballs and Australian footballs are made of different materials and shaped differently. They are tailored toward their style of play. The Aussie football was made to be kicked. The American football was made to be thrown. They are two different sports.
If you put an American ball in place of one of those Australian kicks, the results would be much different.
An American football is made of a much tougher leather and is pointed at the ends. An Australian ball is rounder, much more forgiving with bad ball contact, and pops off of the foot better. This is similar to why rugby balls also fly farther than America footballs. American footballs do NOT fly as far when kicked compared to an Aussie ball.
The results would be different, but Australian rules football players would kick the ball longer using an American football. The American football is easy to kick for Torpedo Punts, what you would call punts. There lighter which makes it easier to kick it higher & longer, and the ball being pointer makes the ball cut through the air better, and makes it easier to kick it longer. And the American football being lighter makes them pop off the foot better. I know all this because I've got an American football, I go up to the park and kick it every once in a while, & there great to kick, much easier to kick Torpedo's than Australian football's, you can kick the hell out of them.
I like American football, but Australian rules football players are the best kickers of the oval ball in the world. The reason is because it's the main thing we do, we do it much more than American football players.
rugby ball wouldn't be the best for very high, long lasting punts like this. i can def agree, aussie rules is almost about kicking, so wouldn't be surprised.
Lol what are you talking about, Sav Rocca can kick far over 60 yards, and there are videos on youtube of him doing that in Australian rules football.
NFL punters are no where (NEAR) as good as kickers as Australian rules football players. Australian rules football players are by (FAR) the best kickers of the oval ball in the world.
Not true, Australian football's are not ballooned. They rounder but not ballooned.
American football's are lighter, and shaped pointer compared to Australian football's. This makes you able kick it longer and get more hang time because there lighter, and pointer which makes it cut threw the air better. I know this because I have an American football.
Australian rules football players are by far the best kickers of the oval ball in the world.
he could be a running back, a linmen, or a safety... why a punter?
Marquette king? because he was forced to pun in college if he wanted to play
BcH Productions who can be a linemen,rb,safety?
MaddenMobile Clicks idk i forgot 😐
Because he makes bank and doesn't have to sacrifice his body?
49ers XVI Why not a punter?
My friend kicked about as high as that but except on the ground
Is that good?........
I got a 58 distance and 5.30 hang is that good?
This was just a punt pp measurement contest no work on accuracy or technique just purely how much leg can you bring
Marquette on IR, lucky not to get cut this year.
Is the distance from LOS?
how far should a 9th grader be able to punt?
Ayden Mayer idk like 55 yards?
Brotha man needs to fall outa love with himself.
Ray Guy-like
There's a kid on my high school team who can kick 60 feet with about a 4.70 seconds of hang time
60 feet is only 20 yards
I meant yards
a 9 year old could prob kick 60 feet lol
Do the kicking robots speak?
What do ya wanna bet I could kick a football over them mountains?
Those look like my high school kicks.
