The fact that he didn't show her the drawings and only sent her the hearts... he was giving love the best way he could, he waited for her to break her own insecurities, to get the courage to go out her dark place. And when she got out, his arms were right there and she realized it wasn't that scary anymore. And that it was okay to just be. How beautiful. Fantastic film!
Ultimately, the ending shows the boy being in love with the stereotypical thin girl. What if the body type was reversed and she saw herself as too skinny but really she was very heavy and overweight? Would the boy have ever loved her?
John 3-15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
@GoGo-ze1mq methinks you missed the (obvious) point... she never was fat/obese. It was her distorted body image that they were portraying; wherein she believed she was fat and unlovable, and in reality was quite slim. Lots of people with disordered eating patterns have that self visibility block.
I love that even though he knew she had a problem, all he did was show her love again and again. He didn't judge, didn't get frustrated or give up, just kept sending his love to her until she felt comfortable enough to accept it ❤

No they didn't. Indulgence in non-nutritive entertainment food is not indicative of a loving relationship with food. It's a best an indication of an apathetic relationship with food. Having a good relationship with food means eating nutritious food in proper amounts, which results in a healthy weight body. Both extremes on either end are indicative of a poor relationship with food.
@@taylorhillard4868I know you mean well but 1. She was a kid and was seen eating one chocolate bar so this person isn’t right but neither are you 2. She had a tiny bit of a tummy as a kid, which is totally normal There’s not much to go off with of her childhood and treats every now and then is not going to cause drastic weight changes especially in kids, I used to eat all kinds of garbage as a kid and gained nothing But I get what you’re trying to say
This touched me in so many ways. As I clicked this video, I was thinking, “Okay I’m gonna watch this and then go workout, I ate too much today.” not knowing that this video would be a mirror being held to me. Absolutely in tears, beautiful story!!!
Please, work out because it's fun to feel strong. I definetly enjoy it. Don't work out to loose weight, you're beautiful always. Aim to be healthy, not pretty or handsome. Eat as much as you want to eat (Baring any allergies or conditions). I wish you luck and love. You're worth it always.
Holy crap, the twist at the end made me tear up! Body dysmorphia is a real thing and can mentally mess someone up...but the fact that Roberto sees past all of that and would still choose her for who she IS as an individual rather than what she sees is beyond encapsulating and I love this! I mean yes, people may have weight problems here and there (hell I do too), and yes my wife may have insecurities about her body as well but I still love her for her. I would choose her over and over again. I am her Roberto.
yasss! i know people with a bit more on the ribs but i'd tell them its just more lovability manifested and so often its so true and when people say they wanna lose weight, im actually a bit hesitant since - while im happy to support their dreams - i want them to make decisions like these due to genuinely wanting that and seeing it as a way to improve their life but not bc they feel they have to.
@@SevenEllenbody dysmorphia and anorexia nervosa. the body dysmorphia is the reason she perceives herself as a body type completely separate from reality
i like the little hint of what she actually looks like because of the emaciated models that the artist is depicting. it both gives us an idea as to whats going on, but also why she's stayed insecure because she doesnt see herself in the art he's making
I also noticed that when she steps on the scale, we aren't actually shown what it says. And the fact that she stays at a static weight despite there being almost nothing in her fridge, and then she doesn't even eat anything from it.
I also love how it is showing the boy send her heart even when she was shown fat and also hugged her when she is skinny. It shows he lovers her in every ways ❤
No, it showed her thinking she was fat and thinking that he loves her that way anyways. But HE was seeing the REAL her and how she REALLY looked. He wanted to show her WHAT SHE REALLY LOOKED LIKE. He wanted to heal her. He loves her. He wanted her to be healthy. He DID care about her and he would also show herif she was unhealthy by being fat too! Do not twist what was going on. He hugged her AS HE SAW HER. Not as she saw herself!
Everyone is praising this for the realistic depiction of body dysmorphia but I’m also glad someone finally showed the female side of romantic insecurity. Believe it or not we aren’t all beauty queens sitting in castles waiting to see which hot guy wins the contest for our hand. So many of us have rejected pretty decent guys not because we thought they weren’t good enough but because we thought we weren’t. 😢😫
@@monkeybooze1774That one guy alone can't do much, but it would help if guys in general quit bragging about how they only date "hot girls" and "sexy babes" and "10/10." Even those of us who may fit the bill have insecurities, and constantly having to live up to that standard is discouraging.
She has an eating disorder, this is not simply body dysmorphia anymore. We should let people know about this issue so they can start seeking help. Starving yourself to look good is anorexia nervosa, not simply “having a wrong image about my body.
So true! I’ve rejected men because I thought once they got to really know me, they would realise I’m not as special as they think I am. I’ve always dated down , if you know what I mean? Because of my own insecurities 😔
I love that it shows in some of the paintings different times in her life when she was healthier and had more weight, and then slowly becoming skinnier. Amazing view on body dismorphia
The foreshadowing in his painting are amazing. He always has some drawings of her. And shows he loves her no matter what size she is. Also. This animation is so good! Her room did not change which shows she is stuck there in the memory. Omg everything is perfect.
I love all the little squares torn from each art piece being sent as a heart to her, like they were incomplete and needed to be put back together by her and her alone. He was just trying to show her the beauty of loving oneself.
Wasn’t it his fault that she got body dysmorphia cuz by the first drawing he made it seem like the girl was big and that stuck to her for the rest of her life.
@@infile-ps5rq How does one put blame on a literal child learning to draw for the insecurities developed by someone else? They're kids, and he was a kid. There was nothing but innocence in his intentions.
The fact that we actually see it through her eyes right after we see through the reality of her actual looks....really just pulled at my heart strings - Absolutely beautiful.
It hurts how this all started because he drew her with a little tummy. It always starts with *that* thing a loved one says or does, and it never goes away. Life and the comfort in your own body is gone. Just like that. I still remember to this day what those words were, and when I hear them in my head, I just refuse to eat for 5 to 1o days at a time. Always that one thing the wrong person does at the wrong moment and it changes you forever. I'm sobbing, but it feels right. Thank you.
I was shocked when I saw the real her, but then I understood... She couldn't help seeing herself that way because of life's images of the 'perfect' woman and that's who she desperately wanted to be. All she saw was the fattiness that wasn't even there in the first place instead of her real beauty. He saw it though. He saw her for who she is and not her body type. That's real love
Men have it worse. They are expected to have the perfect body or else women treat them like crap. They are also the majority of sui*ide victims. They are at the majority of workplace death victims. They are falsely accused of crimes they didn't commit. They are baby trapped by women. They are forced to pay for kids they don't want or kids to begin with. Women lie about birth control and tamper with condoms. Women have special shelters available to them for DA and SA. However, if someone wants to open up some for men you'll have rabid feminists harassing them and pressuring them to shut them down.
I think he saw both who she is and her body type. I hope what I’m gonna say makes sense. He saw her and her insecurities about her body. He saw what she looked like and drew her how she looks, skinny, boney and with hallowed eyes. He saw everything including how she viewed herself. Because he noticed, he nudged her in the room to see all the portraits. He doesn’t loves her in spite of her body. Instead, he loves her everything and understands her
I love how they use the difference between kilos and pounds for the chart on the fridge. She was only at 110 lbs, but we assume it means kilos due to how she sees herself.
Also many people at 110kg often dont look as large as she appeared throughout the short, but people who are thinner don't always know that. Somebody a 110 lbs might imagine somebody 110kg as looking like they weigh 275-300 lbs
@@mercedessettle7824 as someone who at some point had even more weight - yes, noone ever guessed my real weight, I still did things like bicycling 80km a day - not everything of my weight was fat, having overweight doesn`t automatically mean you are just some ball on legs who just sits on the couch eating fast food
@@mercedessettle7824 Depends on height, muscle mass, bone density, body type, good vs bad vs genetic/(un)common for ethnicity body fat distribution, where does a bad food decision immediately go (at first), what holds on the longest against the efforts, size of facial features, whether you wear same extra kilos while getting enough fresh air and at least some exercise or going out only when absolutely must. It all affects how much a person could get away with and who still looks good with the same amount of extra weight.
holy shit what a good plot twist. And it makes complete sense. From all the posters she has on the walls, to not eating either the apple or sausage, to the paintings he made of her in his studio. It was all a hint and I didn't even notice until the end. Bravo!
Yes so even kg would be low for the shape she is unless shes extremely short. Im 260 lbs (130ish kg) and I look thinner than her. It was smart by the creators because only somebody larger would note the discrepancy as most people equate being over 200 as huge
@@mcstack whats your point? do you think I don't know how much is a kg in pounds? I was pointing out that what you see on the scale is ~100Kg, not ~100lbs. That's all
I had assumed that since the short was from Spain that the scale was in Kg, and didn't even think about why would a scale in Kg need to go all the way up to 230 (~507lbs)? That's not a normal range you'd see on a cheap bathroom scale. I never occurred to me it would be in pounds until the ending.
@@mercedessettle7824 Are you okay? Like, 130kg is not a healthy weight even for a taller women(or men). When this comment was not sarcasm or something, you really should get help when you think, this is healthy and more skinny than this stick figure(sorry) in the Film.
Not her hair emoting with her!!! AND THE WAY THE PRINCESS IS ANIMATED AUGHHH... I also love the character models theyre so cute and expressive!!! Also the fact you can get all the details in visuals alone and yet tell a compelling story is always so impressive! I love art AUGHHH
This is exactly why AI won't ever replace artists. Every single animation here, every single detail added had intent behind it. ML models are just pattern recognisers. Provided a value, it can approximate a pattern to match, but it will _never_ have intent behind it.
I cried at the end there 🥺😢 when the twist was revealed and left her standing there so tiny, fragile and so very sad looking. It's terrible what insecurities can morph into and do to someone.
As someone who is currently still recovering from years of having an eating disorder that (thankfully) turned into just disordered eating (which means I'm on a better path now), and has had issues with body dysmorphia... this is very real to me. This made me cry. Yeah, I'm not skinny like the girl was revealed to be at the end (PCOS and pregnancy related weight gain), so no one takes me seriously. Heck, they don't even take skinny people seriously when they say they have an eating disorder. But this is something I've had to live with for the majority of my lifetime on Earth, and it's so difficult to show people what that's like. I can't show them my perspective. But this shows it. This is really well done.
No dialogues, yet everyone can still understand what this story is trying to tell. The plot twist made my jaw drop honestly, I can't believe how sick she was. Body dysmorphia is so cruel ☹️☹️☹️
@@basicallysportYeah, I definitely assumed kilos, especially since this is a Spanish film and they use kilos in Spain. 110 kilos would be like 242 pounds.
Climax is epic... she don't see herself like he sees her..(cause she made image of her in mind that way).. Thankfully he made her realise - what he was looking for all these years❤🤩😍
This made me cry so much. I struggle with body image, still do. Even though my husband loves me and he tells me he likes the way I look, I still feel so ashamed. I would hide from people I went to school with because I don't want them to see how I look. I've always dealt with body shaming with my dad. Growing up he would tell me, guys don't like chunky girls. And looking at myself back in my high school years, I was cute, at least to me lol. I still struggle with this.
Im sorry you are going thru this but you dont have to just try to change your mindset also try detoxing from all social media and ik its hard and your friends will ask you why are you not on insta or snap or whatever but its for your own good and also remember its okay to fail we are humans but yk whats great that you dont have to suffer with this alone yk someone loved you so much that he died for you so that if you belive that you will be saved , and who else knows suffering more than him it was unimaginable what he went thru ,so you and I can have a choice to make cause yes in the end it is still your choice but I think its pretty simple which to chose hope you chose it too and have an amazing day / night ❤❤
God, this is so close to my life. I have a wonderful chubby wife and I'm just crazy about her. That said, she is comfortable with her weight, she feels great about herself, and I really like her figure. But society, and even her parents, constantly revile her for being "overweight". Her mother told her that I would definitely leave my wife if she didn't lose weight. Naturally, I berated her mother, but I don't understand why our society cares about how much someone weighs.
@user-kr8xe9zf7l yeah of course, but being slightly chubby is fine as long as the person's healthy, just too much of something Is bad, also nobody is perfect.
I love how this showed the other end of the spectrum because a lot of people feel that this would have been as good if she was big, and yes it would, but not many touch on this topic. I struggled so much to gain weight when I was younger, I didn't have body dysmorphia but I really disliked how I looked. People are constantly commenting on my weight and how I need to eat to look less sickly (I ate more than the average, I just had insane high metabolism), much like how people would comment on people who were bigger to lose weight. It sucked for either end of the spectrum and not many people talk about this as much so thank you for this. Everyone deserve love and care regardless of what their bodies look like
People deserve love whatever they weigh but if you love someone you will encourage them to be an healthy weight. A man who never encourages his overweight partner to lose weight when they have excess visceral fat is as bad as a partner who never encourages his underweight partner to gain weight. We need to stop acting like being fat is okay, it’s not and its dangerous how much visceral fat people have, so many people are encouraged online to love their fat body, imagine telling an underweight person to love their body instead of encouraging them to get healthy? It’s disturbing and so is pretending that people walking around with excess visceral fat guts is okay.
@@Superfreaky2 Agreed! I think people just took things too far. A lot of the self care and self love started with you don't have to hate yourself WHILE trying to get healthier and it's okay to be comfortable with your body but also taking steps to be healthier in one way or other. But that slowly turned into a very unhealthy view of whatever size you are it's okay. And no way you would say that to someone who is anorexic, likewise for overweight. You can totally accept your body for what it currently is while trying to improve.
I went through the same thing, it took many years to love myself and my body. Eventually, due to natural ageing, I slowly put on weight and feel more comfortable in my body. It definitely goes both ways. I guess I just didn't like the constant attention, and I didn't like being picked up without permission just because I was small!
@@lizzyg9966 yessss, you get it! 😭😭😭 People didn't pick me up but there's a lot of saying how flat chested or sickly I looked and if I put on more weight I would look better and honestly, if we tell everybody that you should not be telling someone how fat they are why isn't it the same being applied to skinny people? You never know what someone could be going through. Maybe they have an eating disorder or some other illness or maybe they just can't put on weight like us, nobody should be made to feel bad for the body they are in
Okay but can we talk about all the little micro-expressions??? Like at 6:47 to 6:55 First there's this look of determination, "There's no going back now!" then the short, soft knocking, showing how nervous she really is and that little "OMG I KNOCKED" expression while she bounces up and down a bit- IT'S SOOO FRICKIN CUTE
As soon as I saw the hearts next to the sketches, I realized. What an amazing story. As someone who struggled with body dysmorphia and was underweight at a point in my life, this message means a lot... and truthfully reminds me of my own boyfriend, who continues to give me love and support at the times I struggle and relapse. This piece is the essence of hope and emphasizes individuality. Thank you to the animators for this beautiful creation
I lost my mom last year due to a rare condition that caused her a lot of pain and weight changes. I understand that we shouldn't judge others especially when it comes to their bodies ❤
This video really brings to light the severity of some mental and eating disorders and how they can affect people. It also shows how true love is not judgmental or critical. ♥️
Its the fact I suffer from body dysmorphia I was bullied for being skinny as people said and still say today and had a eating disorder. I hated myself I still don't know if im seeing a image that's not me I don't see a skinny person my teacher said your so skinny! Do you eat anything that hurt😔
I’m sorry to hear that but you shouldn’t worry so much of what other people think of you nobody’s perfect inside or out for all you know their probably just taking out their own self-loathing onto you so they can fell better about themselves at least for a little while if they bother you so much then you need to shut them out and cut them out of your life and find people who will love you not for your appearance but for you yourself
I cried so hard at the ending. Growing up, I was always told I was way to skinny. I even had woman ask my mom if I had a eating disorder. Then when I got married and had my daughter, everyone was then asking my mom "when was I going to lose some weight?" or "why was I so fat after one baby?" The constant pressure to look just so can kill anyone's happiness. Great work sharing such a difficult message.
He saw her as beautiful, she saw herself as not good enough. He wanted her to live a healthy life, but she overdid it due to her insecurities. Even when she was skin and bones, he loved her.
COMPLETELY- in the end we still are yet to have a love story with a fat person as the main character. This really bummed me out to get to the end and that was the twist.
Exactly. Would he had loved her if she actually looked the way she thought she did? Bc if not that's the actual problem and what caused her to not like her body as it happens to so many
I felt the exact same way. It feels like so few people understand how this is actually not a happy ending for a real fat person watching 😢 it’s basically saying the exact thing it claims to speak against
Same. I kind of wish there hadn't been the twist at the end. That he loved her in her larger body. I feel like that would have been more empowering for more people. I know you're worthy of love whatever your bodies size.
@@rosiewhittingham8508 But that makes no sense?? Her body was small, he loved her no matter her bodies size? How does her being fatter make the message more meaningful? Whether being big or small.
@@rosiewhittingham8508actually I thought that was the message.. When she is shown thin I was disconcerted I thought that was his imagination, that he looked her like that. But then maybe he started the dismorphia with the first drawing too.
What a beautiful film, i love how he doesn’t give up on her. The hearts torn out from the art pieces teared me up and then couldn’t stop when we actually get to see her, how frail and tiny she is.

Oh. My. Gosh. THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!!!! The plot twist, the animation, the characters, everything! So many people can relate to this. I was not expecting her to actually be skinny. WOW.
honestly, this is how some feel being bigger size and do struggle like this, its hits right on point, and its sad but this is so wonderful and honest and warm and caring, its such a good job on this.
that was beautiful. don’t read the comments til you’ve watched the short film through, it’s beautiful and needs a fresh view first . the heart’s significance was so wonderful, specific. god, whoever made this is incredible. what art!!! wow.
For those, like myself, who were a bit upset or let down that "it wasn't about the fat girl in the end", after some reflection I like to think that this short was made in a way that actually promotes unity under a common struggle that most kids and adults face in their lifetime regardless of their body type.
This truly seems like a beautifully pieced together film that captures how the modern beauty standards of today can drastically change the way we perceive ourselves, often for the worse.
It made me tear up but still... I got my hopes up thinking I'll finally get a story when the girl doesn't turn skinny or pretty at the end and is still loved regardless. Wishful thinking I guess 💀
it shouldn’t be encouraged to be that obese, being overweight is fine and of course no matter what people deserve love but people shouldn’t be okay with being that obese
But she is not shown here as a pretty skinny girl. Please stop comparing these two diseases (anorexia and overweight), because they're both bring terrible things and emotions into people's lives. Both diseases kill people, and this is not a competition.
@@lusluzxoxo that's the whole point. She only thinks of herself as fat but looks skinny to everyone else therefore was never typecasted as off-putting/gross/ugly by general public. Like it or not it's a general advantage when it comes to forming ANY relationship when people don't immediately cross you out and refuse to get to know you or just see everything about your character through the prism of your weight. If you're interested there are plenty of videos in here (and Reddit posts) on "what's acceptable/classy if you're skinny but unacceptable/trashy if you're fat?" and you'll probably be surprised how many character traits that are considered cute/quirky in skinny people are immediately gross/creepy when you're overweight. That's why the main character finding AND keeping a relationship without magically turning skinny halfway through the story would be so impactful. Sincerely - one of the fat people who went through multiple abusive relationships because she was conditioned by society that she doesn't deserve a good, healthy relationship and should be grateful to anyone who isn't immediately disgusted with her no matter how they treat her.
@@sammyj9367 I understand what you mean. I agree with what you said, but as a person with a similar situation as the main character, I can say that these are two different situations that, regarding anorexia and overweight, should be presented separately. Of course, these are not directly opposite problems, but the author wanted to show and showed a different story. That's what made this film unique in a way. If the main character really was overweight, then, in my humble opinion, the meaning of some ideas would change, because in that case it would be a story about the appearance of support and a person who accepts you for who you are, which is also good, but it's not that's what story wanted to say. Surely the author wouldn't have made such a turn at the end if he didn't want to show it from the very beginning? In this particular film, self-esteem and anorexia are an important point. We live in a modern world where weight problems are beginning to be widely publicized, so I'm sure there are projects in which the main character is overweight and gets love. I hope I've made it clear why I think this movie is good for what it is and perfectly captures the task at hand. Although people still can perceive it in their own way.
I don't know about everyone else but this healed something in me. I'm grateful for its values and the animator for showing me a different side of what it means to be.
As someone with body dysmorphia, I truly agree with this. I did not understand why people liked me, seeing myself as a fat sh*t, pardon my language. As someone constantly told to lose weight since I was 5, I see the beauty and meaningfulness of this. I'm a healthy kid but am a bit curvy, but felt just like this person for so long.
Just know that people will like you for you, no matter how your body changes over the years. Your weight does not affect your worth and validity as a person 🙂 you are valid, and deserve your place in the world 🧡
There's difference between being overweight because of laziness and refusing to change, and a natural body type. If you're getting exercise and eating healthy you have nothing to be ashamed of. You did your part :)
Sincerly one of the best short films I've ever seen❤ It hurts, but in a way that makes you feel like you're being crushed by a hug; it's sounds weird but It's the only descriptor I have right now. Like so many others point out, a heavy topic, very well handled; my mind was blown away by the reveal. Beautiful and moving all in one! Incredible job❤
I felt this so heavily in my soul. Body dysmorphia is REAL. I dealt with this for the majority of my childhood. Fighting this mindset was one of the HARDEST battles I have ever won. To anyone else this resonates with, know that you are NOT a mistake, and you are loveable, valuable, and important!!!! You are beautifully and wonderfully made!!!❤❤❤❤
If not often that something makes me cry. This just resonated with something inside that I can't even identify yet. Something in me felt deeply in a positive way.
Cute animation, it is very well done. Only bit that bothers me is, in the end, she wasn't obese. "The problem is just in your head." We will never know if he could still love her just as much if she was, actually, obese.
The message wasn't because she was obesed, but because she has a condition call Body Dysmorphia which is seeing herself as ugly and bigger than she actually is. It's suppose to show how she was wasting away and not eating enough.
This reminds me so much of my daughter’s struggle. It truly is a horrible disease. I’m so thankful that she had the courage to conquer it. I’m so proud of her!
I have never had an experience where I gasped & tears leaped from my eyes like that. Truly hit me in my core. That was so unexpected. Didn’t think I was going to relate to this at all. ED’s & body dysmorphies are real. Very very real. I have no idea how I’m perceived in others reality and it doesn’t compute how they’d see me any other way than how I see myself. Head to toe, but also how they perceive my character and personality. Idunno about everyone but trauma, especially early childhood really, really unfairly skews so many things and robs so many lives of so many wonderful things.
Omg that was touching...I deal with dismorphic disorder, depression and borderline since over 40 yrs bcs of emotional neglet I grew up in a cult and got abused bullied and controlled. Talking about my problems was forbidden that caused mental health issues. I'm not able to see myself like others see me. I've lost over 20 kilograms and I'm not able to see the difference...so frustrating and depressing...
To all the people saying they didn't like the ending because she was actually skinny, and it makes you think he wouldn't have loved her if she was big, I hear you. It is hard that media continually depicts skinny women getting someone that loves them and not people in a bigger size. It can stir up nagging insecurities that you can only be loved if you are small. However, I would point out that in this short film, she did not start out skinny. We see her in a state where she is carefree about food, and at the end, she recognizes herself in that first drawing showing that she was a chubby kid because that's how she sees herself. For the guy, it was never about her body. He just loved her. The heart is missing from every drawing because she doesn't love herself. He is trying to give her his love, and that love is shown no matter what her body looks like.
Magnifique court- métrage ! C est exactement ce que j ai connu ! Je suis mince et me voit toujours grosse! Je suis une thérapie !courage aux femmes qui ont des problèmes avec leur corps ! Tout vient de la tête ❤❤❤
It's almost like the moral of the story is that he cared for her because she wasn't ACTUALLY fat, she just thought she was. I can't help but wonder if he would have cared about her so deeply if she actually was that large and struggling with a food addiction.
He first fell in love with her when she was chubby. The first drawing was a chunky girl. If you look at his art he draws her when she's not as thin also. He draws her as she is at every weight she is. He loves her in all of them but realizes she is insecure so doesn't show her the drawings. He is a fat man. This symbolism shows how she holds herself to a standard that she doesn't hold others to. She sees the beauty in him, but is convinced she isn't good enough as a girl without being thin. In the end she is depicted as terribly unhealthy and thin, not as the standard of beauty. He is likely concerned that she is so thin and this is why his art begins to focus on the emaciated parts of her. She doesn't look at them and say "yay I'm actually thin." She realizes he loves her from the beginning when she was chubby, then average, then thin, then emaciated. She didnt just jump from a chubby kid to a skeleton. He drew her every single day. What she saw was that she went too far and he wasn't drawing some ideal, but her honest depiction. This is about anorexia. It isnt praising being pretty and thin, it is highlighting the common thread between body dysmorphic people and how they perceive themselves as unworthy while others love them at every phase of the journey.
He cared for her and was watching her struggle with an eating disorder and was trying to reach out to her in love. He loved her no matter what she looked like. And he himself is not tiny. Your take sounds like a projection when all the evidence the film is showing is that he saw her pain and sorrow and loved her anyway. The paintings of her she is visibly distressed and sad. He didnt glamorize or fetishize her thinness by any means. The paintings showed her she really looked and felt.
That is what I was thinking. Feels like still gotta be thin. Sort of depressing. Feels like if you are fat can't be loved. He was seeing her as she was. Skinny.
Finally found this comment...the ending was anticlimactic for me too. The fact that at the end, it turned out that she wasn't actually fat at all and just thought she was, is to me, the wrong message. She only felt happy and worthy of his love because she realized she wasn't actually fat, only thought she was. She finally saw in herself the standard of beauty that she'd been craving, and thus got the guy. But it only reasserts the point that fat is ugly.
A short film that emphasizes how important it is to see yourself positively. It doesn't matter how you actually are; what matters is how you perceive yourself
This was a wonderful full-circle story. When you are young, insecurities can come from almost anywhere, and sometimes, you can't see them until someone helps you. This was nice.
Thank you, that was very wholesome! ❤ I was teary-eyed - sometimes because the story was lovely sometimes because it turns sad. Up and down all the time. At the end I was still thinking what the meaning of the pictures could be, but then got goosebumps when I understood! This leads me to: Whenever someone is falling for you, stays with you also in the sad and disappointing times --> you are RIGHT for him. And it does not matter how you look like or how you feel. For him, you are just right! ❤
Looking a little deeper, the ending shows the boy being in love with a stereotypical thin girl. What if the body type was reversed and she saw herself as too skinny but really she was very heavy and overweight? Would the boy have ever loved her?
I think he would but the land whales would cry on how dare he thinks being to fat is wrong. I use land whales because most fat people know they are fat and try to lose the weight properly. This short is about having an unhealthy view of yourself.
I've been through all sorts of sizes from being obese to underweight (medical conditions will mess with the body a lot), and I've always struggled with my self-image. My husband of 14 years is the reason I know myself to be beautiful where I'm more comfortable with some of my previous insecurities. I have a crooked smile with crooked teeth, and I always hated them. But, after many years of telling me my smile was beautiful and glowing with joy at my every unadulterated smile, I finally know my smile is beautiful. Genuine smiles are always beautiful, and it takes a long time to realize this for some people. But, having that "Roberto" in my life has really made me feel so much better about myself. He loved me at every size I've been, and even on my days when I feel the worst and look rough, he calls me beautiful. ❤ Get yourself a Roberto like I did. Healthy people are out there and are so worth it.
Ayyye I was able to guess the twist ending. At 3:22, you can see that her chart says she's at 110 pounds. Which is drastically underweight, and conflicted with the body type we were seeing. And might explain why her "progress" has stagnated. I think that was supposed to be the primary hint that she wasn't actually obese but just had a tainted body image perception.
@@GhostStarly if you're pretty short then it's probably fine. But from the video it's clear she should not weigh that little. As long as the doctor says you're good you probably are.

Well, she was sick in middle too when she was obese
@GoGo-ze1mq methinks you missed the (obvious) point... she never was fat/obese. It was her distorted body image that they were portraying; wherein she believed she was fat and unlovable, and in reality was quite slim. Lots of people with disordered eating patterns have that self visibility block.
I love that even though he knew she had a problem, all he did was show her love again and again. He didn't judge, didn't get frustrated or give up, just kept sending his love to her until she felt comfortable enough to accept it ❤

I love that they showed that as a kid she had a loving relationship with food and her body dysmorphia took that from her
No they didn't.

This touched me in so many ways. As I clicked this video, I was thinking, “Okay I’m gonna watch this and then go workout, I ate too much today.” not knowing that this video would be a mirror being held to me. Absolutely in tears, beautiful story!!!
It is still good to work out, but don’t do it for looks but health. You ate and that’s good.
@MrSophire yeah if the doctor says you're good, you're good.

That was so well said. I wish you both much happiness together.
yasss! i know people with a bit more on the ribs but i'd tell them its just more lovability manifested and so often its so true and when people say they wanna lose weight, im actually a bit hesitant since - while im happy to support their dreams - i want them to make decisions like these due to genuinely wanting that and seeing it as a way to improve their life but not bc they feel they have to.
I interpreted it as anorexia nervosa, but, I'm not saying it wasn't body dysmorphia. It's open to interpretation.

Everyone is praising this for the realistic depiction of body dysmorphia but I’m also glad someone finally showed the female side of romantic insecurity. She has an eating disorder, this is not simply body dysmorphia anymore. We should let people know about this issue so they can start seeking help. Starving yourself to look good is anorexia nervosa, not simply “having a wrong image about my body.

So i don't really think you are thinner than her, that would mean you have to weigh under 50kg max on a hight of 170+.

Man your wife is lucky, your a good man, wish there were more men like you out there, also God bless you.
Having insecurities as a result of all the pressure coming from society is bad, but being overweight is bad for health too

I hope I'm able to find a life partner who adores me for who I am, in the same way you feel about your wife.
You never know what someone could be going through. Maybe they have an eating disorder or some other illness or maybe they just can't put on weight like us, nobody should be made to feel bad for the body they are in

honestly, this is how some feel being bigger size and do struggle like this, its hits right on point, and its sad but this is so wonderful and honest and warm and caring, its such a good job on this.
that was beautiful. don’t read the comments til you’ve watched the short film through, it’s beautiful and needs a fresh view first
. the heart’s significance was so wonderful, specific. god, whoever made this is incredible. what art!!!
Right? It was so disappointing and to be honest, it’s quite triggering
Wow the ending is mind-blowing
This was so beautifully scripted it just broke my heart, thanks for shearing and being so loud in silence ❤
I don't know about everyone else but this healed something in me. I'm grateful for its values and the animator for showing me a different side of what it means to be.
She was just as worthy of that love at ANY weight. But most important is to love yourself ❤
So beautiful, and created with incredible insight. Thank You.
That was wonderful.. I wish I could see myself the way my husband See's me... Love yourself and the rest will fallow..
Same here...
@@charleston1789 Aww tysm I needed that ❤🥹
i love the fact that the guy were patient for her, this made me cry 😭😭
Whew! That's got me crying. The plot twist at the end was shocking and his love for her was beautiful.
This video really moved me... it clearly conveys the message about eating disorders... the whole world needs to see it! 🥺💓
i thought this was a body positivity video at first until i saw what she really looked like. then it made so much sense
Я прослезилась. Чудесная работа! ❤
Cute animation, it is very well done. Only bit that bothers me is, in the end, she wasn't obese. "The problem is just in your head." We will never know if he could still love her just as much if she was, actually, obese.
As a kid she was overweight, and he did love her.
The message wasn't because she was obesed, but because she has a condition call Body Dysmorphia which is seeing herself as ugly and bigger than she actually is. It's suppose to show how she was wasting away and not eating enough.
Being fat is just as bad a being bony. They are just different sides of the coin.
Man, I was really wondering why he was painting all those skeletal women and making the images face his friend... I was NOT expecting that ending.
This reminds me so much of my daughter’s struggle. It truly is a horrible disease. I’m so thankful that she had the courage to conquer it. I’m so proud of her!
That ending was so moving. I noticed the graph and I’m glad it didn’t disappoint.
Working in that shortfilm was an absolute pleasure!! ❤️❤️
Macoooo
This is the first no words film that's ever made me cry, it's so good
To all the people saying they didn't like the ending because she was actually skinny, and it makes you think he wouldn't have loved her if she was big, I hear you.
Holy shit when she finally looked in the mirror I felt my heart stop that was a great display of raw emotion and the animation is beautiful!
It's almost like the moral of the story is that he cared for her because she wasn't ACTUALLY fat, she just thought she was. I can't help but wonder if he would have cared about her so deeply if she actually was that large and struggling with a food addiction.
Exactly
I was teary-eyed - sometimes because the story was lovely sometimes because it turns sad.
Oh man, the ending brought actual tears to my eyes. So great.
Wow, this is the first film ever that made me cry so hard. Thank you for this, it means so much
I've been through all sorts of sizes from being obese to underweight (medical conditions will mess with the body a lot), and I've always struggled with my self-image.
Genuinely thought it was kg at first which is like 240 lbs... If thinking lbs it makes much more sense now
I'm 90lbs, if 110lbs is drastically underweight than...I have some things to think about 😭
Depends on your hight. 110 is a fine of some one who is short, my correct weight is between 90 - 100 pounds.
@@GhostStarly if you're pretty short then it's probably fine. But from the video it's clear she should not weigh that little.
As long as the doctor says you're good you probably are.
