Great tutorial! Ahh listening to the art of conversation during a pandemic made me realize how much I miss! You two complement one another in teaching! My daughter is a horse trainer. She went to college for equine business management and is doing very well! Flash back 10 years ago....me in the closet saying to myself where is she going to find a job..!!! Following your passion leads to many blessings,as Sarah said"if you stick with it".. Still working o my horse and having a blast.. Thank you Sarah and Taylor!
Love this and excited to paint it. I love horses and had one until I lost him a year ago. He was 25. He loved eating and would also do a food shimmy when I gave him his grain. He would squeal and dance every time!
Loved how you discussed horses during this! The Budweiser horses are perhaps the most famous group of draft horses. I love how she said “Wells Fargo horses!” I like them too! I had a horse in high school for a short time. He was a tall palomino-yellow coat, cream color mane and tail. You both did an amazing job!! TFS! ❤️
I'm SO excited to paint! Watching first now and hoping to paint tomorrow. Really loving the addition of colored pencils and paints. It's really stretching my thinking of layers. Way to go Taylor! Hoping to see you again!

i believe comparing my work with others I learn diff details adding and taking away it does improve everyone no matter their level if beginner it teaches you how to combine color, learn how dark and light work with each other to create what is in the mind's eye, and even if you are painting a smiley face you use all those details in proportion and mix and imagination
I FINALLY DID IT! I have been so scared to even try this one I waited a year before I gave it a go... and I have to say, I kinda like the result! THANK YOU, Sarah, Taylor, and Keenan for a fun morning learning all about using watercolor paint and pencils together to create such a realistic horse. (BTW, Keenan, people do, on purpose, do the sorts of haircuts you mention to their horses - it's called "banging." They also "roach" the mane itself, which, as it grows out, stands straight up and in all cases, in my opinion, is pretty ugly. LOL) Now, to try this again, but painting my gelding (in my profile picture here) - lots of "chrome" (aka white) with spots all over... but maybe I'll wait another year before trying that. LOL THANK YOU and God bless!
Thank you so much for telling us you were finally able to paint the horse. We would love to see how your gelding turns out and hope that you don't wait a year. You are capable of that and so much more.
This one was difficult for me so I did it twice and the second version came out somewhat better. Thank you for these tutorials using watercolor pencils! Very helpful!! 💕😍❤️😃
Yay Taylor! Yay Keenan! For all that YOU do. I totally appreciate you! Wow! 12 minutes in, Taylor is totally knocking it out of the park! LMA needs to rethink her current position and have her lead tutorials!
I love the collaboration between Taylor and Sarah! Important in tutorials to let your viewers who are probably following along know when you change pencils and when you pick up the paint brush to add water. Otherwise an enjoyable tutorial!
The horse is my first purchase, along with the rooster. I’ve taught art and created art for years, but with everything going on, haven’t felt like it lately...hoping this pulls me out of my slump! It was definitely fun to watch! 🌈❤️ Wanted to let you know my mailman just put the package into the mailbox and it was bent when I found it. Might consider adding “do not bend” to your packaging... 📫
Our teen daughter had a love for horses so she had two. At the time we lived on a Army Base General Patton always had horses so our base was set up with stables etc. Her first horse was a barrel horse the one she really loves the second was a quarter horse she broke etc. but she never felt the same about the second one.
I agree with you totally about it takes time and effort to learn something. It is the same with horses. I have helped several people deal with their fear of horses. One of the main things is to be gentle with yourself and give yourself a break. If you know someone with a gentle horses who is willing to help you they can give the horse the security so it doesn’t only pick up on your fear. The trust it’s person has can give you both a bridge to help you overcome your fear.
You can do it! It took Sarah and Taylor a few tries to get this one. Remember it is just paper and the more you practice the more you will learn. Try to focus on what you are learning each time and not the final expected result.
This was an awesome watch! I'm definitely late to the game, it'd been cool if the chic did hers with a flaxen mane, hers could almost be a dark palamino, urs def a bay. Love this & want to try!!
They can bite, and hard. Just look at horses in a herd: there's often one with a bite - usually on the neck - that requires stitches. I've been bitten on the arm twice. Best not to make assumptions with animals this large. :)
@@Bearwithme560 I was actually not making an assumption. I own a horse and was referring to the fact that it is not as easy for a horse to bite you on the hand if you hold it out flat to them. It is definitely important to be careful around them, though!
This was such a fun tutorial! Thank you! I wondered if you could guide me as to what watercolor colors I should use to paint a palomino? I’m struggling a bit. Thank you!
I think when you were talking about the draft horses, you mean the famous Budweiser Clydesdales :) I have been obsessed with horses since I was a kid, and used to buy all those "how to draw a horse" books from the art store. I started my watercolor journey about 2 years ago.... have done VERY few horse related things.... I am excited and terrified to try this.
This was so amazing. I ordered these pencils as I only had cheaper ones from Artist Loft and I am really getting into sketching - these pencils will make my sketches really pop out. Thank you so much for introducing us to these amazing products. Sarah - you and Taylor - an of course Keenan are super great people.
I have Artist Loft pencils also. Thanks for your approval rating of the pencils. Always helpful to hear from others about quality of paint and pencils.
This video was so awesome. I have been waiting for a long time for you to do a horse. They are my favorite animal and I can’t wait for my kit to come in. I ordered it as soon as I seen the video!
So sorry that you were not able to get one before they sold out. We have orders placed to restock this kit as well as the pencil sets as soon as we can.
A suggestion? When you do the watercolour pencil swatches, could possibly you wet them? I follow along from home with my own supplies and it's easier to try and match the colours I have at home that way. Also, I love this tutorial!
I'm just now working on the horse, a couple months late, nevertheless having fun and learning a lot. Right now I'm watching Taylor so masterfully paint the eye, and figuring out the difference between "blending" and "defining".
