I have been looking at reviews because I know that I’m going to end up with a regular iPhone 12 or a 12 mini but I have been trying to decide between the two for some time now. This review is wonderful because it was done from the viewpoint of someone who has always loved tiny phones and the viewpoint of someone who might be thinking about going from a bigger model to the smaller phone. Thank you for helping me decide that I would like to try a more miniature experience this year!
I love Dieter and his videos. But to be honest, I think that this is not a complete review. You should really include measurements about how long battery life is as well as comparative values to enable your viewers a more informed decision.
Worst thing is giving it a pass by saying to use baterry saver bla bla, if this was an Android he would have never said that. They always give iphones a pass.
Been using an iphone 5s since October 2013. The battery lasts, but not very long. That's what battery banks (especially the tiny good ones) are for. Only reason I'm upgrading to the 12 Mini right now is that my 5s' battery is swelling, and popping the front screen off, inside its outer case. Eight years, man. Eight.
Got this bad boy for free from Verizon and ended up gifting it to our son for his very first phone. I set it up for him before we gifted it, and was pleasantly surprised with how it feels, as well as it’s camera and snappy response when scrolling
I’m loving these videos. Really feels like video journalism. Also liked the interview. I’ll admit I look at the hardware visuals too much so it’s fresh to hear from someone who sees their phone as a tool rather than fashion
This was kind of it for me- switching from the pixel 2xl. Used a hand-me-down 6s beforehand for a bit to get used to IOS, and it's been a smooth transition (since stock android is pretty bland to begin with).
I still use my iPhone SE because I was waiting for a smaller phone that I can operate with one hand AND fit in my pocket. Phones are HUGE now, like basically tablet size. It's hard to find the right size with the right specs. Seems like the iPhone 12 mini is perfect. I also loved it when your guest said: If I wanted an iPad I would buy an iPad.
I had my original 2016 SE broken while tracelling on a bus in 2021. Loved that phone. I was using a TCL and a samsung till now. TCL's screen went off after just two years. Finally getting a reconditioned iphone 12 this month. Can't wait
haha you hit the spot perfectly on this one. still using my 1st gen SE and now i ordered the mini. it’s so nice to finally have a small iphone again and this time without any cutbacks like the SE versions
What I love about the mini because It fits more comfortable and CONFIDENTLY in your hand instead of having to use a pop socket or your pinky to hold it in place as your taking selfie’s or pictures. Nobody doesn’t like an achy wrist after trying just a few times with the bigger phones… 👍🏽
Wait im so confused as to why everyone says this is so small. it doesnt even make sense lol its got a 5.4 inch screen. Thats almost as big as the barely older "plus" models. Apple did a great job tricking everybody honestly. they literally just started calling the "plus" model their regular one and their regular one "mini" so people would buy the bigger one. Remember when the bigger model was the "plus" and the "mini" was just the regular? pepperidge farms remembers
I LOVED the 4S: I still have four of them. I use them to read eBooks The 5S was ok same width and about 1/3 inch longer than the 4S When my 5S died I had to upgrade. I got a iPhone 8 with 256GB and it’s too big for my hand and my pockets: I wish they would make a mini and the tablet phones so small guys like me can have a phone we can use!
I have moved from an iPhone XS Max to the 12 mini and I love it. I'm keeping the XS to use as a small iPad mini. At last a modern iPhone that fits in your pocket that you can use easily with one hand.
Had my 12 mini for the weekend now and I’m really impressed. So far by 11 at night I’m down to about 30 to 40% battery life, with I what I think would be pretty average use. I had forgotten how important it is to be able to use your phone in one hand. Also enjoying that it fits in any pocket. So far this is the best new iPhone I’ve used in years. I remember back in the Steve days when he wouldn’t let Apple release a big phone because he insisted that it ruined the user experience. Another thing it seems he may have been right about.
@@zzztriplezzz5264 I tried the iPhone 12 for 9 months. I didn’t like the size at all. The phone was just too big for one handed use, at least for me. So I went with the 13 mini recently, and I love it. It has all of the features and design of the new iPhones but can be used with one hand like what a phone should be like in my opinion.
Full body screens are a game changer for small phones IMO. I had the 5s and original SE and loved them, but upgraded to a 7 because I just wanted a bigger screen, even though the size was less practical for me. Now there's a 5s-size phone with a screen that's bigger than the 6/7/8/ 2020 SE I think small phones aren't going to be as much of a sacrifice as they were prior. I'm looking forward to getting one of these.
I still have my iPhone 5S, and the only reason I am upgrading is that Apple is discontinuing the 3G network as of next Feb. I hate being forced to buy a new phone, and since mine is a 5S it's not even eligible for the trade in savings, buncha B.S. - that being said I don't want a big phone (remember "car phones" the size of bricks? lol) so I am opting for the 12 mini. I don't use it much so I'm sure I can make it through a day on one charge.
Have you been waiting for a small phone?

“Ooohh it’s so small”, “I could even go smaller” “I could do smaller” “it’s small now” Damn it Liz, stop it already!
SE (the original) small...but with 5-inch bezel-less (and minimum 80% screen-to-body ratio).
Basically about 7.7mm smaller in height.
Razvan Mihaeanu he’s not talking about that btw ;)
Yep, even smaller than the “mini” would be good. The 4” screen of the original SE is too small, but if you kept the overall size of the SE and pushed the screen out to the edges? It would be perfect!
She's a functional user
Is Dieter playing a game with us where he gets to squeeze in a call back or shout out to Palm discreetly in everything he does? If so, I'm all for it, it's like Dieter's easter eggs for those who've indulged in his writing this long.
What did you decide on
I love it. The size is really what a phone should be. It is so fast too & my experience with battery life has been great too so far.
Watching this review from an iPhone SE. I've been waiting for another small sized iPhone to come out and this is it!
I had the 6s, just upgraded to the 12 mini! Thank you for this review!!
How’s ur experience so far? Thinking of doing the same exact thing
Do it. Completely worth it. Although i dont currently own it but my friend does and im planning to buy it too.
Amen. We shouldn't really forget that calling and texting is its main function.
Eight.
😆
iPhone 12 mini ... best phone I’ve had in years... love it... so happy that iPhone went back to a smaller phone
P.s no problem on battery life
ITS NOT AN SE ITS A NO COMPROMISES SMALLER FLAGSHIP JUST CUZ ITS SMALL DOESNT MEAN ITS BAD
I was thinking this when I gave away my iphone 4s - this is the perfect size, just remove the bezels.
I just ordered the mini. Coming from an XR, I’m glad that I got something smaller.
Got this bad boy for free from Verizon and ended up gifting it to our son for his very first phone. I set it up for him before we gifted it, and was pleasantly surprised with how it feels, as well as it’s camera and snappy response when scrolling
My next phone, love the size!
Apple finally made the phone I was waiting for since I bought my iPhone SE back in 2016
Thank you for making it all about real people and not just tech specs!
Got this as an upgrade from my iphone 7 plus. And I’m glad that I switched to a smaller phone. Very handy.
I bought this phone brand new in 2022, and I love it, it’s a great device 📱
I’m loving these videos. Really feels like video journalism. Also liked the interview. I’ll admit I look at the hardware visuals too much so it’s fresh to hear from someone who sees their phone as a tool rather than fashion
I'm on-board for the mini. I use my phone for work calls, texting and map viewing.
This might be it when I switch over from android to apple
Yep
This was kind of it for me- switching from the pixel 2xl. Used a hand-me-down 6s beforehand for a bit to get used to IOS, and it's been a smooth transition (since stock android is pretty bland to begin with).
Definitely switching from Android to iOS on the back of the mini .
Same
Same here, sorry pixel.
My 12 mini comes in on Saturday. I can't wait. I'm switching from an LG Stylo 6
I still have the 6s. I like being able to put my phone in my pocket. Thank you for the review. This will help in my decision.
Me vibin wit my 5s and them saying “it’s mini”
4s
05:51 this could be a meme
Lol
Steve Carrel would have known what to say.
I was just talking about that for the new school year of August 2024!
I had my original 2016 SE broken while tracelling on a bus in 2021. Loved that phone. I was using a TCL and a samsung till now. TCL's screen went off after just two years. Finally getting a reconditioned iphone 12 this month. Can't wait
Dieter is so happy whenever he reviews any gadget.. Just love his reviews..❤️ Wish you all the best of everything Dieter..❤️
Give that editor a raise! Every word that came out of her mouth is true.
Yes! I so agree with her!
I've been trying to use my phone less I think this is the one I'm upgrading to
I’m updating from an iPhone 6 we bought in July 2016. I keep my phones for years. So it’s about time.
I’m switching from a iPhone 6s sooooo... yeah I’m exited
"I can do smaller" is the most useful comment about this phone
haha you hit the spot perfectly on this one.
still using my 1st gen SE and now i ordered the mini. it’s so nice to finally have a small iphone again and this time without any cutbacks like the SE versions
I loved my iPhone 5. The iPhone Mini is a dream. Hope Apple comes out with a iPhone mini Pro. 😍
I could see something like that coming out in 5-7 years
Should I upgrade to this from an iPhone XS?
What I love about the mini because It fits more comfortable and CONFIDENTLY in your hand instead of having to use a pop socket or your pinky to hold it in place as your taking selfie’s or pictures. Nobody doesn’t like an achy wrist after trying just a few times with the bigger phones… 👍🏽
I love Elizabeth and she said exactly what I feel about big phones.
Felt a pang of nostalgia and joy when I saw those two Palm phones
Wait im so confused as to why everyone says this is so small. it doesnt even make sense lol its got a 5.4 inch screen. Thats almost as big as the barely older "plus" models. Apple did a great job tricking everybody honestly. they literally just started calling the "plus" model their regular one and their regular one "mini" so people would buy the bigger one. Remember when the bigger model was the "plus" and the "mini" was just the regular? pepperidge farms remembers
I LOVED the 4S: I still have four of them. I use them to read eBooks
The 5S was ok same width and about 1/3 inch longer than the 4S
When my 5S died I had to upgrade. I got a iPhone 8 with 256GB and it’s too big for my hand and my pockets:
I wish they would make a mini and the tablet phones so small guys like me can have a phone we can use!
So stoked to get my mini Friday. Coming from a 7 plus. Stoked for a small phone again.
Ditto. Major upgrade too long in the wind for me. What color? I'm blue.
@@pahouseholder BluE!
Finally someone talks about phones being too big! I feel like I've been taking crazy pills listening to ppl like big phones! WHY!?
5.5 inch phones aren't that big lol you should see the 6 inch and up phones
Regular iPhone 12 and pro aren’t that big… it also offers more screen to watch stuff. But, if you’re not into that kind of stuff that’s fine.
@@Marngel to each their own
Full body screens are a game changer for small phones IMO.
