I grew up with this "era" of Jim Ed Brown. He has a superb voice, very much in the smooth style of the great Jim Reeves. So, I am very familiar with his duets with Helen Cornelius, plus I also grew up with the wonderful earlier "Brown Trio" that Jim had with sisters Maxine and Bonnie. Recently I have seen a lot of the old Ozark Jubilee video from the mid 1950's and was surprised to see that Jim Ed also did many duets with his sister Maxine! Knowing how popular the Brown / Cornelius duets were and still are, I was truly stunned to discover that Jim Ed and sister Maxine were incredible as a duo! I'm now of the opinion that Maxine was Jim Ed's best duet partner! At any rate, regardless of my opinion, the old Ozark Jubilee videos are absolute treasures and well worth a watch. Some may agree with me about Maxine, and some may not after seeing Jim Ed and Maxine as a duo! Best wishes to all.
What an adorable man! Scrumptious! I just discovered Jim Brown today. So I'm listening to these lovely duets as well. Jim does remind me of Jim Reeves. Same style. I think the Brown's are in perfect harmony. Such a classic act.❤❤❤
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 I grew up listening to Country music…and making 8 track tapes of many of the Grand Ol Opry singers! I sure remember this song. What a unique song… for me, I loved it & hated it at the same time. It almost just talked about having a free relationship & not being committed to each other. But they sounded good together. They also seemed quite affectionate with each other as well! A good memory from my childhood. 🤩🥰✌️
The Browns were from Pine Bluff, AR. They had a Night Club here that was called the Trio Night Club back in the 50's and early 60's They were Jim Ed Maxine and Bonnie their first big hit was The Three Bells
I just received his bio book written by his wife. (In the mail). I like his voice. My mom raised me on country music. Now its classic country, I luv it still, I'm in my 50's.
Yeah, the label Classic Country has been around since the 79s and, in the 70s that was country music from earlier than, it’s era and, that’s how it always follow suit through the yrs, if it’s older than in current yrs it’s classic, good old simple common sense, duh! Now why wouldn’t you have thought of that?
Fern Benoit+ It was probably 1977 at the CMA awards when they won Vocal Duo of the Year. You notice that he had his arm around Helen a lot she said in an interview that she felt like her knees turned to jelly
@@countryboy5510 I wouldn't doubt it they had a special relationship long after their affair. I read where she said she was doing a show with Tim Atwood after Jim Ed had passed and she couldn't sing a note all she could do was cry.
They were never married, he was married to a different woman, they just were a music duo like Conway & Loretta! But, as you can see Jim Ed Helen, did get a little too close for comfort!
I can remember them on a country talk show back in the early 80's. And they sang that song. Helen was simply beautiful. I was jealous of JEB. But then I lost track of them. Bur they made beautiful music together.
Ed not Jeb, they just sang together nothing more, people assumed that even though they were married they assumed they were having a affair, just like they assume about every duo out there! No,just like Lady Gaga said, sometimes you are acting out the character of the song, some people may do that some don’t but, if they do people don’t have the good common sense to realize, that isn’t how people in country music would act with a duet partner or play second fiddle with their spouses! People like to try to make more of what’s there Dolly and Kenny said the same thing but, the only thing between them was a friendship, Loretta said, the same exact thing about her and Conway, and, again, they both said, they just had become real good friends!
@@sonyafox3271 I didn't say his name is Jeb. I was using his initials. Jim Ed Brown. And I wasn't stating any opinion of their duo relationship. It isn't any of my business.
@@atfourothirtythree Yes, it was very obvious even up until the end. I do believe he loved his wife, also, but he was in love with Helen, and there is a difference.
Two voices that perfect together. Miss these kind of duets today.

Jim Ed and Helen sang well together. RIP Jim Ed.
October 10, 1977 CMA Awards. The night they won Duo Of the Year.

I still have my parents' copy of this album on vinyl in my basement. Brings back so many childhood memories when I break it out every now and then.
Been trying to recall this song forever. It was kinda in my head from hearing it in my youth. Found it!
Unlike the majority of today’s singers, you can understand every single word they sing!
Notice the way she is standing on a step above him to make them look more in step.
What a handsome man! He always had that great smile.
I know!
Loved these two singing together...... Beautiful. But,unless I'm married......IT ain't happening. No more mistakes for me.
Timeless song! Still love it !
This was my Late Ex-Wife & I's favorite song when we married at only 16 in May 1977; even though we didn't wait. We had our first daughter in Nov '77
Mine not I!
Helen Cornelius is one of Country Music's finest musicians/performers!
Beautiful voice. ❤
T
I was in her band back in the 80s.
RIP Great Duet !!!
I love this song😍😍😍😍
We lost a great singer a short time ago.
Jim Ed Brown has some features of George Jones, the hairstyle does the rest.
First time i hear this song. Beautifully sung by two wonderful singers.

I remember when they did the commercials for Dollar General
A truly great duo! Sadly left off the pbs special on Country Music!
It’s just a song, that is it, if you want to watch that special look it up, it has nothing to do with someone singing a country music song!
Absolutely beautiful not like this anymore
Yes he was a great singer and Helen was too
Just Love It! !
They beautifully glorify snacking up, No, that’s not the way God meant love to be!
love love love this song..JEB was so good looking
He really was! Even in that style of tux!! By the size of the tie I'd have to uess that this was probably...1975?
Yes he was! What a wonderful smile and soft smooth voice. He was old enough to my father but I dearly loved JimEd! RIP you are missed

In his book Kathy he describes that he had an affair on his wife
Could you guess who it was with?
So did paradise by the dashboard lights come out before this? Or did meatloaf rip this song off
You thinking of Meatloaf, Meat loaf yes came along later in the 80s, and, besides Meatloaf sang Rock Music not country, yeah the 70s came first, duh!
I was age 16 then what a great song this was 1976
A BEAUTIFUL COUPLE TO ME SO IN LOVE
