What's your top 5 list, and if it is not the same as the video, why are you so wrong?
1) 1980 BBC version
2) 1995 BBC version (with Colin Firth)
3) Keira Knightley movie version
4) Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
5) Death Comes to Pemberly (BBC Series sequel based on the PD James novel)
I would swap 2005 and 1939 because i found those changes far more in keeping with the spirit of the original. I love how Babylon Bee made this and stayed so very much themselves. Oh Bride and Prejudice deserves an honorable mention and stands alongside the latter day version in my opinion nah it is far more entertaining than that one.
Where was Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?
I am sad and dissapointed that even though I am 8 months late to see this, there is no pride and prejudice vs zombies on this list. For sure going to have to down vote. ;)
My #1 Pride and Prejudice is the Mathew McFadden version, sorry. But my favorite game is Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. So.....six of one, half a dozen of the other 🤷♀️
The fact that all of his commentary is dead on makes this gold.
I was about to say. The man speaks for all Austen fans, I think.
Amen!
No way.
Can’t believe I spent 7 minutes watching essentially a group project getting carried by the only guy who read the book
I laughed way too hard to this comment 😂
Yes. Lol. :)
Yeah... yeah, same.
@@reubenquist8271 So glad it wasn't just me laughing.
That is what most book discussions become, only one person making commentary on it.
This... This was actually accurate. Impressed while entertained.
How the heck did he remember all his lines? Even if there was a monitor he could see, he still pulled out all that blather so well. Kudos to the Asian Pacific guy!
I love this guy, he is very funny!!! One of my favorites
They were right about the #1 pick. That version of Pride and Prejudice was outstanding in every way. Jennifer Ehle has a you tube channel where she reads the whole book.
Seriously?! I'm so there!
Not only comedy gold, but actually accurate descriptions of all of the movie rankings. Casting Keira Knightly as Elizabeth Bennett was like casting Britney Spears to play Mother Teresa to Pride and Prejudice fans.
I love the dedication to the bit. I was expecting the writers to phone this in for an audience who probably never watched any of the films (not unlike myself). That would have been ok for a minute or two before we all got bored. This, on the other hand, is like a Monty Python bit. It keeps going and going. But the fact that they can keep the commentary going for so long without running out of steam is enthralling because you can't believe he's got more to say. This one works much better than the last version of this joke (where the one guy is going on while the other person in the room is checked out) because in this case he seems so genuinely interested and is so compelling about this topic that so much of the audience could not care less about. My hat's off to you, whoever you are, Jane Austin loving Babylon Bee writer.
The commentaries on all of those movies were actually pretty good! 😄
While I appreciate the humor of having everyone else disengaged, as a huge fan of P&P, I loved the descriptions of the strengths and weaknesses of the various versions -- and concur heartily with the top pick. Plus I now have a new version to check out (haven't seen the modern version, #3). So enjoyable on one level for the humor of the "non-participants" and a delight for those of us lit majors who never get tired of an intelligent discussion.
It's everything he said it was. I love the lack of acting skills of the Bingley character.
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that this is the greatest video to hit UA-cam.
I see what you did there 😏
Yes! 1995! As a Jane Austen fan I thought this was hysterical and wonderful. Thanks for suffering through it, guys! :)
This is great 😂 The Colin Firth version of Pride and Prejudice is the best, I agree!
Except i loved Jim Caveziel
The number one was of course a foregone conclusion, but how could Kyle fail to bring up "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" at the end?
Maybe if you are looking for the most accurate adaptation, but speaking about the best portrayal of characters, number one is the 2016 Pride and Prejudice and Zombies starring Lena Heady, Matt Smith and Charles Dance, among others.
Pride and prejudice and zombies.
Damn, they were about to get married until the zombie hoard attacked.
As satirical as this is, I must confess Pride & Prejudice is my guilty pleasure. And i loved the lines he slipped into the descriptions, but damn, he went hard on poor Keira, lol.
Overall, as far as P&P rankings go, they were tolerable, I suppose.
He ripped Keira Knightly to shreds. She wasn't that bad.
@@SusieQ3 Yes, she was. But P & P devotees can disagree without the vitriol of politics. No naming calling.
…but not handsome enough to tempt ME! 😂
I agree. Jenna Malone's accent and performance were far more egregious.
I was totally unimpressed with the Keira version. My husband and I went to the premiere as a gift to me. It was a waste of time.
I’m here for this classy segment. I hope it becomes a regular thing 🙏
Yes, I know it was intended for a troll, but I want more!
You are so spot on with Keira Knightley's performance. It was never about McFaddyen vs. Firth for me, they both did an ok job. But Knightley 's smirks, snarls, pouts and occasional swaggers really make it hard to believe that she was supposed to be Lizzie.
I am a big Jane Austin fan, and especially a fan of Pride and Prejudice. But I have to say I enjoyed this bit so much and laughed out loud through out it all. PS. I wholeheartedly agree the each and every analysis of the 5 reviews.
Dead on! Every time!! 😂
I have to disagree with dishonorable mention #1…. Bride and Prejudice is one of my faves. Lol. This was gold.
@4:11 it's like a Carol Burnett skit with Harvey Korman trying in vain to maintain his composure during Tim Conway antics. This was brilliantly done.
Colin Firth jumping into that lake was sp dreamy. He is Mr Darcy and none can compare to him!! ❤💗💕
I love everything about this. 😂 So good to hear someone outside of Utah has seen the Halestorm classic. Definitely deserves the #3 spot.
it was better than i'd thought it would be. For LDS
I agree with his #1 pick! I loved the BBC series...also agree with his thoughts on Kiera...she seemed to laugh way too much!
But. What about jim caveziel? He was my favorite
Any list that doesn't include Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the 2016 Masterpiece, starring Lily James, Sam Riley and Jack Huston... is woefully inadequate.
I honestly found it charmingly ridiculous and most diverting.
I was waiting for that one to show up!!
Not to mention Matt Smith
NOT an Adaptation!!! It’s a parody!! ( and quite frankly a poor one - good movie, but totally misses the best things to parody from the book!)
I have seen them all. I agree the 1995 one is excellent. However, I really like Bride and Prejudice. Especially Aishwarya Rai.
Bollywood never disappoints!
Oh, my goodness. This video was hilarious. Too funny. Loved it.
Brandon quickly becoming my favorite when he is on podcast.
Ok, Jane Austen nerd here - I have seen all five of these adaptations and WHAT HE’S SAYING IS ACTUALLY TRUE 😂 And funny. The best is definitely the 1995 version. Thank you Babylon Bee. Now do the top 5 Jane Austen adaptations overall. Please. My top 5 are 5) Pride and Prejudice 2005, 4) Sense and Sensibility 2008, 3) Sense and Sensibility 1995, 2) Emma 2009, 1) Pride and Prejudice 1995. Always the best ever. Colin Firth forever!!! 😂
Y'all!!! This was great! Next do Emma. I'm curious to know where Clueless is ranked.
Clueless is THE Best Emma ever!
Emma Approved is my favorite.
@@allieoneal2033 i've only made it to ep 16 Thanksgiving.. But it's pretty good!
Clueless is second to the 2009 Emma mini-series with Romola Garai!!! That one is the best #1 by far!!!
The Bee guys are tragically underappreciating the flawlessness of the film commentary here.
The fact that I agree with almost everything he said.... except he was a bit too rough on Keira. And I would have put the satirical parody Pride & Prejudice + Zombies on this list.
I agree. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was funny and a lot of fun.
You Tube series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries should have been included! This was great!
I highly recommend "Lost in Austen"
I LOVED that!!!
I was expecting a reference to Pride, Prejudice & Zombies but this was awesome!
That was in the subscriber only portion.
Nooooo! They left the Bollywood musical styled “Bride And Prejudice” from 2004. One of the absolute best!
By far the best Babylon Bee video I've seen yet.
As a Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice fan, the commentary was 100% on point. I would’ve been outraged if the adaptation with Jennifer Ehle and Collin Firth wasn’t #1. I know the joke was supposed to be that this video would be boring but I loved it.
Well done for making this Top 5 list entertaining. Certainly better than the movies talked about.
I can't believe they put pride and prejudice at number 2 absolutely insane.
My son says they should have included Pride and Prejudice and Zombies which he saw on the shelves of our local library once.
Loved the episode; fun fact the furniture at World Market are all named after characters in Pride and Prejudice
This was amazing! Not only is it on Pride and Prejudice but it is comedic gold! I saw Kingdom Rush Frontiers on that phone!
Oh come on! You had the perfect opportunity to sneak in the 2016 Pride and Prejudice and Zombies!! I love Jane Austen's work, but that is seriously my favorite version for the simple reason that it is laughably set during a zombie apocalypse! It makes for an amazingly funny story and you should have seen the look on my wife's face when she asked what we were watching. I told her Pride and Prejudice and she instantly asked which version and was excitedly asking until the movie started and she was confronted with the entire zombie storyline! She wasn't very happy with me for the rest of the day, but the look on her face when she figured it out was well worth the pain.
That being said I also enjoyed the 2016 Unleashing Mr. Darcy, which was loosely based on Austen's story while being set in modern times.
thank you for this, it was very nice. I love jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice
That was magnificent. Also, I agree with every word.
That blonde lady's take was spot on, she nailed it. Makes me want to watch Pride and Prejudice.
Dishonorable mention Bride and prejudice! What! Lol. I enjoyed this.
Pride and Prejudice and zombies is the best one tbh
Loved it!
I feel compelled to now enjoy my tea and comprets....pinky up.
Good thing there were 4 people to add to this discussion, even tho only one had any comments. I do love these movies.
Love love love this.
I am a huge Jane Austen fan, and the commentator's critiques are spot-on! I know this is a parody, but I took it seriously!
This was AMAZING 😂❤ and so true!
This is GREAT!!!!
Absolutely hilarious! Thank you for making this!!! 🤣👏
This was spectacular! 😆
Best talk show panel ever!
This was 100% true. Well done, Brandon, you're my hero now!!!
That was impressive!
SPOT ON ratings. Would love to watch Masterpiece Theatre with that guy.
The best Bee EVER!!!! Yours truly, Jane Austin Fan Club President.
As banal as your top SiFi and video game segments were, this topped it. America's Test Kitchen segment on best vegetable peelers was more captivating, and that was the idea! I loved your doing it even though I cringed through the whole thing. Anyone who says you punch down is crazy. This is clearly punching at your level since you punched yourselves.
That was great. :)
As an awkward person myself, I very much appreciate the deeply awkward acting of Colin Firth. (Not that the acting itself was awkward, but the character was.)
That plastered courteous smile on his face that thinly veils a feeling of "get me out of here this instant"... [chef's kiss] Gold.
The analysis of all these adaptations was spot on! It's sad that your comedic impatience and yawning through the whole discussion is an accurate reflection of todays culture. The inability to exercise critical thinking skills or the discernment required to enjoy a work like Pride and Prejudice is a result of the dumbing down of our generation. Is it any wonder why children don't know the difference between boys and girls anymore? If they were still required to read literature like this in school instead of CRT we could solve many of the problems destroying families today.
Ok I am a huge Jane Austen fan and even I know that watching 5 versions of the same story is a bit too much to ask… 😂
I’m you have one literary intellectual on staff, and his assessments were perfect.
I would have included the Looney Tunes episode that was so clearly based on Pride and Prejudice in which Bugs Bunny hilariously woos an Elizabeth Bennet-like heroine.
This is HILARIOUS
They nailed it on the number one.
I hesitate to comment, since this is my husband's youtube account.... but Top is 1995 version and next is 1980 BBC version, the others don't count. Those are true to the book even if they add or delete or combine characters or scenes. I watch the 1995 version when I have a migraine because the music is great and I fall asleep. My husband recommends me watch this 95 version when I need a break and he loves Mr. Collins and Mrs Bennett. The characters are the best and make us laugh. Your commentary was great! You made me laugh.
My wife "made" me watch this, and I really enjoyed it, ...that's my story and I am sticking to it!
I thought you were going to make 5 video games with Pride and Prejudice characters, but I guess this is funny also...
I know the joke is supposed to be on we of the viewers who dont love video games, but do appreciate Austen. But the jokes on you this time. you made a satirical preform ance that was, from the film analysis standpoint, entirely accurate, the only irritating portions being those displaying Kyle's oberdisplayd disinterest in what is in reality a interesting and a somewhat not unimportant subject.
(Stops for breath)
Did you really just read all that?
I did 😂
Thank you for this! LOL!!!
I think Brandon and I hashed this out at my house once. 😂💯
You didn't let her talk at all? It's all true but I do love Bridget Jones (first one).
Oh I loved this nerdy lit/ cinema talk 😅
His diehard serious assessments are hilarious. But the total boredom of the other guys is even more hilarious.
What's in your head, in your head . . .
Sir, it is DAME Judi Dench, DAME Maggie Smith, this is tantamount to a declaration of war! Oh and don't forget Pride & Predudice & Zombies...
Wish i could have written that for some high school English class! BB, you SLAY me!
There is no place on a satire site for Jane Austen!
i assume you're being sarcastic?
Perfect
The only Babylon Bee 🐝 video I’ve watched is this one & let me tell you that thicc Asian fellow who knows his Austin movie adaptations is delicious
Perfect order.
Yeah. I concur.
MORE FOOTAGE NEEDED OF THE LEGGY BLONDE!!!!!! 😘😘😘😘😘😘
Bride and prejudice with Bollywood version is #3!!!!
Years ago an older female friend told me breathlessly that I MUST see Pride and Prejudice. I politely replied " no it is still a free country and I don't have to see any British period pieces".
Golden Age (Gilded Age?) it is then.
I’ll disagree with your friend and say instead that you must READ Pride and Prejudice. 😊
I can see that this was 9 months ago, but I am still dismayed and distraught at the complete oversight of 2016 Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I do understand that it is a further adaptation but no less worthy of notice or at the very least a glowing honorable mention.
I love that this is basically an "American Psycho" reference.
Wow that was powerful
I like the fact that the devil is sitting there with a baseball cap on backwards, considering Pride and Prejudice something the devil may know a lot about! Great satire keep it up.
I feel like Matthew Mcfaddyen’s Darcy would be able to take out Colin Firth’s on saber skills alone, but First might kill him with pistols.
I don’t remember McFayden’s version using a sword?? Colin Firth’s version did!!! (But hey - David Morissey’s Colonel Brandon would kick all their arses!! 😂)
Y'all missed the ABSOLUTE NUMBER ONE: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies!
😂 One of the best vids yet. Have to disagree about Bridget Jones' Diary tho. That was just a happy escapist joyride of a movie.
Hah! I’ve only seen 2 of those but this was great!
Y'all forgot about Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
OMG. Maggie Smith as Catherine De Bourgh would have been epic!
Best Mr Collins is Matt Smith in pride and prejudice and zombies 😂
