It’s going to be at least a 10 year hiatus like how it was from mua2-mua3. One thing that really disappointed me was the fact how there’s only one set of powers per character and the lack of combo move choices that 3 has which is one of the key things that made me love MUA so much. In the first game you could do a pop-up combo to a shield uppercut to a charged heavy attack with captain America in the first game. Which that was one of the hey things that I loved in 1st unlike the 3rd. Also I hate the fact that you can’t play the game as one single character in 3. I always loved to challenge myself and play alone in 1 and sadly in 3 I’m unable to do so. Lastly one thing that I’d like to point out is the secret character. For those who don’t know it’s kinda of a disappointment and a waste of a character slot in all honesty. I personally believed that the last slot should’ve been somebody like nova, spider woman, or even songbird for that matter but oh well.
Seiro _Dusty Getting MUA3 ten years later was such an unlikely prospect, I think it’s more likely the franchise would be permanently dormant if we ended up going another 10.
How is it compared to the LEGO games? Is the combat essentially the same? I’ve been wanting to play LEGO marvel heroes 2 and always end up passing up on it cause of how easy they are. Was wondering if that was the case with this game.
I think the new Danger Room difficulties unlock when you get your level high enough. One thing I liked with the DLC is that with every pack, they started gradually adding the rest of the playable heroes (the ones you couldn't already fight in the game) as possible opponents to beat. You also got new enemies at some points like Nova Corps and the Asgardians.
My biggest complaint with the game is that, since characters don't level together and content outside of the danger room is at a fixed level, for any given character, most of the game's content will be at too high or too low of a level. In many cases, you'll either melt through bosses like butter or have to keep wailing on common enemies. It was bad enough with a cap at 100, but now that it's at 300, this is even more pronounced. I wish there was an option to temporarily lower character levels to a desired number while still earning XP toward their real level. With the character roster being one of the game's biggest strengths, it's odd that developers funneled players into using only a small handful as their main team, thus discouraging playing with the whole roster and making most content too easy once characters do level up.
Agree the DLC is worth it, I hope they are going to add more DLC since I would still like to see more playable characters (Ant-man, Winter Soldier, Rogue, Beast, Silver Surfer, She-Hulk, Juggernaut, Mystique, Apocalypse (as villain to fight), Jubilee,

Not everyone is going to have this same mindset but a game like this is perfect if you listen to podcasts or like to have videos to listen to while you do other things which is how I usually go about playing this game when doing Infinity Trials and Gauntlet missions or when replaying the story since I’m skipping cutscenes anyway so I don’t have to worry about stopping whatever podcast or video I’m listening to.
Those were great games. Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Legends 1 & 2 were all developed by Raven Software. MUA2 was given to a different group and MUA3 is from Team Ninja - developers of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. Not too shabby.

For the season pass content, it don't include costumes, there are free, except for dlc characters, and modes are make with story stages... If costumes were exclusive to season pass, the price was more justified. Xavier and Beast seasons come back in May, it's inscribe on them. You don't see it if you got all costumes before this update, but ALL costumes are include to the dlc shield shop, except deadpool cook and new costume, and guardians of the galaxy new costumes in first color, but there are include to story season. Good point for offline players.

got a switch about 2 days ago and I wasn’t sure if I should pick up this game but after seeing this review I’m definitely getting this when I have the chance
I love it, you shouldn't get the game without also getting the dlc. They feature new characters, new story, new levels, new costumes and lots of playable options like gauntlets and danger room. So much value for money I would've paid $20 for each dlc (maybe even Curse of the Vampire which I don't like) but $20 for all of them is value for money. The game can be very grindy and repetitive but it hasn't stopped me from playing it yet, especially with 52 characters festured. 👍👍👍👍👍
I just got the game recently and have to wait for a capture card sale but i saw the dlc and wondered if it was worth it so thanks for the vid, i mean.......i find it hard to not get it, its got Dr Doom in it!
I really wish Stan Lee had his own cameo, character and DLC ☹️ somehow just using voice clips from other games or something, doesn’t have to say much, just be there and be more OP than the secret character from the last update, that would be awesome 🖤

@Grimshaw Raven the online community is pretty bare honestly. You can still find lobbies but it’s not how it used to be. Your best bet is still to use something like discord or reddit to get people together. I know our discord still has regular players, so the online player base isn’t totally dead.
@@alwaysnerdyretros I think it's more likely that Shadow of Doom has the only Story Mode epilogue because they wanted to have all the DLC characters involved (obviously, with a focus on the Fantastic 4 because the others are part of groups that have had their time in th base story). If they divided it up, they'd have to explain why certain characters are a no-show for that particular part.
This game needs a 60fps update patch. If it is not possible now; then it needs to be done when a Switch 2 comes out. A 60fps would improve the gameplay significantly.
Honestly, in a game like Marvel Ultimate Alliance, DLC that offers new characters is almost always worth it. You're playing these games to mess around with your favorite heroes (and villains), so why wouldn't you want more options? And the fact that the DLC came with a bunch of different modes and some extra story content made it a no-brainer for me. I bought it before even finishing the game so I could play it with my coop partner right afterwards (although we didn't wind up playing it for a little while, the DLC was still super beneficial since I unlocked some new characters for us to play as during the main campaign). So, yeah, even at full price, the pass it worth the asking price. There are more than a few fun characters to play as from it and though the DLC story are does have *one* annoying part with the bridge, I still enjoyed it overall and would recommend it.
So are the events ever coming back? My friend just got the game so was going to buy the dlc to play with him but feel like I've missed out on a lot because I've missed these events
I was trying to explore the perks of Dr Doom’s extreme attack, and I don’t see the glowing EP bars like in you video, are you sure that wasn’t due to some ISO? BUT I think his Extreme attack regenerates HP from the very start up and it is definitely more than the “Damage of Extreme back as hp” that you unlock through the alliance enhancement tree.
I definitely wouldn’t mind some more X-Men/Mutant related characters like Sabretooth, Jubilee, Apocalypse, Bishop, Quicksilver, Pyro, Beast, Omega Red and Juggernaut 😍
Honestly this game is A LOT MORE FUN and even Better in so many aspects than the recent Avengers game but that is cos i am huge X-men Legends fan and i will always love the structure of those games much more how much this DLC cost?? is there any free DLC for this beautiful game?
I haven’t really played future fight so I can’t answer accurately. I’ve been told I need to try future fight though. I typically like marvel games with big rosters, so ultimate alliance, x-men legends, even Marvels Avengers. The Lego games are cool if you like puzzles, but I’m more of a combat person. The PS4 Spider-Man games are excellent for story of course too. don’t really play the mobile games anymore, so I can’t really speak to those. I know these answers weren’t too surprising, but those are what I play most often. What about you?

Just got this game today played it a bit, but not sure if I want the dlc I feel like I will get it but what do u recommend me to do, to get it early into the game or once I finish it?
You might as well get it once you finish the game. You can’t access certain parts of the dlc until after you reach certain points in the story anyway. For example, the x-men dlc is accessible after chapter 5. I think F4 isn’t accessible until beating the game since it takes place after the main game. You’re also incentivized to beat the story multiple times for better rewards, so it’s not a one and done thing. You can bring your new dlc characters into your second story playthrough It might also be good to wait until beating the story or waiting a few chapters just to make sure you’re enjoying the game first. I hope that helps though! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I absolutely love this game and the DLC is worth getting, just not necessarily immediately

If anyone is still on the fence on this, you get Doom and Thanos (Infinite) who are 2 of the best characters in the game. The story is good and completing it on Ultimate difficulty for Thanos (Infinite) offers a great challenge and reward.
I’m having hard time to unlock the DLCs characters what am I doing wrong lol? I’m level 36 with Wolverine, dead pool , scarlet witch and crystal.. I find it hard to beat those challenges
Check the checklist for gauntlet and danger room or the story mode because they have challenges where you can unlock characters just by completing them.
Not immediately, but still pretty early. You’ll have to reach a certain point in the story before you can access them. For example, I think you have to reach chapter 5 before the Phoenix dlc can be accessed
You compare the season pass to smash bros, but compare it to fire emblem or mario rabbids dlc, where the scenario take 20 hours or more. But i'm agree to tell it's not à shame, but they can do better with not many more, like survival mode, procedural arcade mode like diablo 3 or many others without scenario but with original path, and not always story stages...
Hi, I just bought the game and the DLC a bit later. However I cannot access the DLC content con the Menu Select. Does anyone know if I have to finish the main story first in order to access the DLC packs?
There is a huge difference between a fighting game character and character in ultimate alliance. I don't even know how you thought that was a fair comparison. The amount of balancing, character design and testing required is on a whole different level than are we giving character x a beam or not. Nice video overall but that was a really uninformed statement. I'm not even a smash player and don't really like the smash community but fighting games are hard work man and if they don't take very special care to ensure the new characters are balanced then we have a tekken 7 Leroy situation on our hands.
Hey I know this was a bit ago but does anyone know if the events still work? I just got this game and have been having fun and am wondering if I can still get the rewards from the events if I get the dlc
You can unlock some art from one of the infinity rifts and then you can change the menu art by selecting system on the main menu, options, then scroll over to “other”, then “main menu background”, “image selection” and then you can choose any of the following images you have unlocked 🤙🏻
Funny. This was a game that seemed to be liked by many when it came out. As I write this in 2024, I'm hearing quite of people are now turned off by this game. I still like it. I picked it up again recently. It's not without problems but its a 8/10 for me and definitely worth the 50 back then. If you can pick it up for less, please do so.
i understand trying to say that 12 chars are a lot compared to smash, but smash is a fighting game not really comparable to what new characters mean to a fighting game in a perspective of a synergy rpg one like MUA3 dlc. Just bought the game i guess i was late in the party not many ppl play anymore
That’s up to you. But you don’t save any money by bundling the dlc. The main game is typically $60 and the dlc is always $20. So if you’re on the fence, I would recommend that you buy the main game first and then get the dlc later if you’re enjoying yourself. Also, if you’re ok with physical copies, you might be able to find the game new for $50 at Walmart or target

The offers are still damn expensive though. Really appreciate that you put MUA 3 in comparison to MSF. The moment I saw the screengrab, I realized that the DLC has more value over any MSF offer

This game needs a 60fps update patch. If it is not possible now; then it needs to be done when a Switch 2 comes out. A 60fps would improve the gameplay significantly.
Yes definitely! The frames dip so hard during big fights. I think it’s mostly a problem with the switch’s hardware not being able to handle it
Honestly, in a game like Marvel Ultimate Alliance, DLC that offers new characters is almost always worth it. You're playing these games to mess around with your favorite heroes (and villains), so why wouldn't you want more options?
And the fact that the DLC came with a bunch of different modes and some extra story content made it a no-brainer for me. I bought it before even finishing the game so I could play it with my coop partner right afterwards (although we didn't wind up playing it for a little while, the DLC was still super beneficial since I unlocked some new characters for us to play as during the main campaign).
So, yeah, even at full price, the pass it worth the asking price. There are more than a few fun characters to play as from it and though the DLC story are does have *one* annoying part with the bridge, I still enjoyed it overall and would recommend it.
So are the events ever coming back? My friend just got the game so was going to buy the dlc to play with him but feel like I've missed out on a lot because I've missed these events

I was trying to explore the perks of Dr Doom’s extreme attack, and I don’t see the glowing EP bars like in you video, are you sure that wasn’t due to some ISO?
BUT I think his Extreme attack regenerates HP from the very start up and it is definitely more than the “Damage of Extreme back as hp” that you unlock through the alliance enhancement tree.

How does this game and its dlc compare to games similar like say, marvel future fight, etc? What’s your top superhero games?
I haven’t really played future fight so I can’t answer accurately. I’ve been told I need to try future fight though. I typically like marvel games with big rosters, so ultimate alliance, x-men legends, even Marvels Avengers. The Lego games are cool if you like puzzles, but I’m more of a combat person. The PS4 Spider-Man games are excellent for story of course too. don’t really play the mobile games anymore, so I can’t really speak to those. I know these answers weren’t too surprising, but those are what I play most often. What about you?

Just got this game today played it a bit, but not sure if I want the dlc I feel like I will get it but what do u recommend me to do, to get it early into the game or once I finish it?
You might as well get it once you finish the game. You can’t access certain parts of the dlc until after you reach certain points in the story anyway. For example, the x-men dlc is accessible after chapter 5. I think F4 isn’t accessible until beating the game since it takes place after the main game.
You’re also incentivized to beat the story multiple times for better rewards, so it’s not a one and done thing. You can bring your new dlc characters into your second story playthrough
It might also be good to wait until beating the story or waiting a few chapters just to make sure you’re enjoying the game first. I hope that helps though! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I absolutely love this game and the DLC is worth getting, just not necessarily immediately

You have to reach a certain point in the story for each dlc. For example, the Phoenix dlc is accessible around chapter 5

If anyone is still on the fence on this, you get Doom and Thanos (Infinite) who are 2 of the best characters in the game. The story is good and completing it on Ultimate difficulty for Thanos (Infinite) offers a great challenge and reward.

I’m having hard time to unlock the DLCs characters what am I doing wrong lol? I’m level 36 with Wolverine, dead pool , scarlet witch and crystal.. I find it hard to beat those challenges
Check the checklist for gauntlet and danger room or the story mode because they have challenges where you can unlock characters just by completing them.
So if I buy the dlc before finishing the game, can I use dlc characters right away?
Not immediately, but still pretty early. You’ll have to reach a certain point in the story before you can access them. For example, I think you have to reach chapter 5 before the Phoenix dlc can be accessed
You compare the season pass to smash bros, but compare it to fire emblem or mario rabbids dlc, where the scenario take 20 hours or more.
But i'm agree to tell it's not à shame, but they can do better with not many more, like survival mode, procedural arcade mode like diablo 3 or many others without scenario but with original path, and not always story stages...

There is a huge difference between a fighting game character and character in ultimate alliance. I don't even know how you thought that was a fair comparison. The amount of balancing, character design and testing required is on a whole different level than are we giving character x a beam or not. Nice video overall but that was a really uninformed statement. I'm not even a smash player and don't really like the smash community but fighting games are hard work man and if they don't take very special care to ensure the new characters are balanced then we have a tekken 7 Leroy situation on our hands.
Can you play Thanos in the normal story mode?
Once you unlock him you can go back to story mode and use him.
How do I unlock more difficulty levels for Shadow of Doom?
In the story? Each time you beat a difficulty a harder one unlocks. For example, once you beat “mighty” then “superior” unlocks.

You can unlock some art from one of the infinity rifts and then you can change the menu art by selecting system on the main menu, options, then scroll over to “other”, then “main menu background”, “image selection” and then you can choose any of the following images you have unlocked 🤙🏻

Funny. This was a game that seemed to be liked by many when it came out. As I write this in 2024, I'm hearing quite of people are now turned off by this game. I still like it. I picked it up again recently. It's not without problems but its a 8/10 for me and definitely worth the 50 back then. If you can pick it up for less, please do so.

Have you beat the story yet? You may not have gotten far enough in the story to access it yet. For example, the x-men dlc unlocks around chapter 5.

That’s up to you. But you don’t save any money by bundling the dlc. The main game is typically $60 and the dlc is always $20. So if you’re on the fence, I would recommend that you buy the main game first and then get the dlc later if you’re enjoying yourself.
Also, if you’re ok with physical copies, you might be able to find the game new for $50 at Walmart or target

Absolutely! The microtransactions in msf are shockingly large. It’s been a while since I’ve played though, idk if they’re better now
