Man, watching these old games. The best players of 2011 seem like random masters players these days.
Under the viewing angles from 2017, the best players of 2019 seem like random masters players too. The peak of sc2 players is 2014-2017. Love old game though.
The casters algo seem like random people. My god their commentaries are thrash. "I'm not sure MPV can kill those 20 broodlords in time" And he has like 15 vikings and 20 ghosts... Besides nestea having almost not antiair
A lot has changed in the meantime. You can actually play Wings of Liberty still, just launch it, get a friend, and play a match with him/her.
Do not be surprised by the amount of workers, the minerals in your base, the lack of expansions beyond the 4th, siege mode behind an upgrade, mutalisks without regen, hydras too slow, lack of shield batteries, no recall until mothership, etc. And that was already after a lot of changes since this 2011 final, which had even further differences.
They were really good at the time because the game was different. A comparison would only be possible if the game remained the same and it has not.
no they are definitely way worse at the game@@SusaVile
Crazy that i remember this game after all this time, a testament to MVP's play
I remember watching this game live haven't player much starcraft since but still i can remember this game being awesome
anyone here in 2018?
This is most amazing TvZ i ever seen... IMBAAAA
One of the very best TvZs in SC2 history. E-P-I-C.
Hail IMMvP & IMNestea !!!
This Game was the reason the Ghost was nerfed
miss the old days when terran is the best
The good ole' days.
Miss this time
Those snipes at the end, oh my god...
Great casting guys. It was good to watch this again. Would be interesting to see how this game would play now. GG
That. Was. EPIC. I honestly think that was the best game of StarCraft 2 I've ever seen.
What kind of 720p is this? This video looks like it was knit by my grandmother
looks like a regular diamond 1 game on korean server
in 2019
Mvp would be a champion and the best player in any era.
Imagine Serral or MaxPax vs MVP or Nestea lol, they are like gold - platinum by 2024 standards. So much progress on this game!
Marine/Ghost is so damn overpowered. Thanks for the upload.
i don´t play starcraft but when I see this Damn!!
it´s so awesome with the crowd en the reactions!:)
Man, has the game changed in the past decade.
@Seriath1 I couldnt agree more.... this was amazing to watch and I sat though all 40 mins of it...
The crowd makes me want to play this game and play that good :P !!!
16:43 - The way excitement USED to sound in StarCraft tournaments.
i remember watching this yesterday it was AWESOME
MVP IS NOT JUST A PLAYER!!
outnumbered but not outmatch such a legendary terran micro
@OptikBlast - Is this what he's like normally? Then sort of... I prefer a less showy, more professional style. Like Crota. Easy to listen to, informative, not trying to hype anything up, KNOWING you'll get exited because the game and matches are exiting. That's what I'm talking about. Pity Klazart stopped casting; he was SO GOOD.
WOW, this is so low-level, I don't believe it! I remember these guys as being gods, and now a days I'm pretty sure a diamond level player would be better..
Yep, they sure were the best, but 10 years had passed... Yea, their skill level is maybe platinum nowadays or even less.
BEST commentating I have ever heard: 28:00
GLORBLURGRBLUAHBURRR?!!
thank you recommend videos for an epic game
i wish i got skills like this two awesome players!1!!!!!!!
Nestea made two enourmous mistakes that cost him the game. I know I couldn't do this but I know he could have. When he did that first huge drop his units were just sitting there doing nothing for a LONG blocking more units from dropping. He still had a bunch of units in the overlords and didn't drop them NOR move the overlords back. Then on his last push with the broodlords he had made 6 or so observers and didn't even bring them with him when he KNEW that there were a crap load of ghosts.
Dang Terran was insane back then.
@TheApostle344 You can say the same for Templars feedback and storm, or how about infestors? fungal + neuroparasite, all of these can be seen as "unlimited damage" from unit costing a bit of gas. At least protoss shield regenerates, if you get stormed or fungaled as terran, you ain't getting your life back unless you got some medivac energy or use money to repair. My point is each race has their spell casters, and in the right hands all of them can be OP. It's the player, not the game.
Not to mention the mass broodlords vs. Vikings, with close to? no anti-air on the field.
@quicktooth1 Day9 has some of the best analysis you can find anywhere.
Pressing F and clicking your ramp isn't micro.
The best players in the world ... and still, people talking shit about their mistakes here in YT comments ... Internet heroism at its max.
watchings this in 2013 and still really good game
as soon as i heard the name "david kim" i raged, i raged hard
That was an exiting challange.
@9TAEmighty its going to be hard to do that being up against so many seige tanks and such good placement of his army.
They used to. Now the ghosts have been hugely nerfed and the queens hugely buffed so the matchup is mostly balanced.
Never make that many broods unless you have equal fungals and corruptors to back them up.
I wonder how this game would have played out if the ghost nerf would've been active..
@windirr thats like saying banelings should damage both sides too. just like siege tank.
day9's pancakes are testament to the excitement of this matchup
best final ever!
+Yasuo I really disagree.
Day9 looks like he's incredibly high towards the end. Check out his eyes haha.
That was awesome, thanks for the upload.
I agree... so many times I've seen zerg lacking in air defense for those damn drops.... spores and spines and corrupters guys... it only takes a few and Terran don't know what's hit them! GOGO Zerg!!!
Yes, tell the diamond terran more about how he's bad.
Bio is largely ineffective until medivacs, stim, shields and 1/1 is done. By that time a protoss can easily have 2-3 colossi and a large a move ball. If you're relying heavily on sentries in the current metagame, it's YOU who are bad. Get with the times. Sentries stopped being used heavily in TvP months ago in favor of far better storm/colo gas investments.
Wish he made some detection, but like someone said earlier. It's easier in hindsight.
I bet when James Naismith was inventing basketball people thought "Look at this fool throwing a leather ball into a wooden basket, what tomfoolery" And then....olympic sport.
I am not saying Starcraft matches should be in the Olympics but I do think people should give these guys some respect, people other than their moms and SC fanboys.
Midironica Video games take absolutely no athletic prowess. It's a travesty to even mention video games and the Olympic in the same breath.
They take mental prowess, fortitude, split second decision making, taking more skill in most instances than many physical sports. Also... Starcraft II was the opening event for the Winter Olympics held in South Korea this year.
question. if you kill off the pool, why did announcers say 8k in the bank?
national geographic did a documentary about that. its legit. they played so much that pressing hot keys literally became second nature (looking through colored dyes in brain scans). but i think it was 170 actions per second for the gamers they studied
thanks for the upload!
@JohnDanielFlo tell me sir, what counters ghost+tank+marine?
If you can perform 300 actions in a minute/ 6 actions per sec, for example, one action: move scv, second action: macro with marine.. etc., then go ahead and go pro.
The spine crawler is like: I did my best! shuahsuaushausuahus
it is bronze in 2018...:)
@liamjfriel it shoots bullets not gun
is mvp left handed or are the cameras flipped?
day[9] may very well be the coolest person on earth.
EMP radius decreased and snipe damage decreased. It's only worth sniping psionic units now.
as a total SC2 noob. can someone explain to me why nestea went for brodlings against ghosts???
What nerfs were made to ghosts?
Can definitely tell which caster wears the pants between the two. Day[9] all the way
can some 1 explain why he made that amny broodlords knowing that there where vikings on the field
What about at the very beginning of the game? There doesn't seem to be much to do there.
@brendameistar well yea why not it is going to be fair but i don't see the point of banelings doing damage to them selves when they are acid i can say that the would have to do damage on any unit that isnt a baneling
one of the most epic games eva
I think when day9 was kidding, he was actually right. I think nestea might actually have been trying to outmine MVP to the point where he could make units but MVP couldnt. It was actually so close
Something tells me we're going to see a Ghost nerf in HotS, for better or worse.
anyone 2019?
I think this was bad play by nestea. For one, I mean he had 13k minerals. He should have invested in spore crawlers, spine crawlers to deal with the drops. He had too many workers anyways. If he had some of both crawlers arround the bases that would deal with most drops. He also should have made some hatcheries, so he could really stone control on larva, and reubild his army again and again. He could even make a overflow of overlords so he wounld not get supplied blocked when they died.
@OptikBlast - Well, cool :D. Guess it must be presentation style? Nevermind dude- I'm just sore that a bunch of the commentators on UA-cam got to go, but Crota didn't.
@StJohn404 they were asked to keep quiet, yet they still got riled at times
@JohnDanielFlo really easy to say all of this in hindsight but in the heat of the moment in a 30 min intense game like that you dont always think everything out
Someone is watching this in 2020?
which country all those teams?
It's totally fair that I need tier three templar colossi to counter tier one mass marines right?
Enjoy.
I am sorry, but that is not the way they get 300 apm. A lot of those actions are more or less spam clicks to keep the rythm, because in intense battles, things need to go very quicly!
It was fixed, they wanted to please the crowd, you don't srsly believe nestea couldnt defend those nukes and drops at the end....
did he surrender at the end
?
@quicktooth1 yes.. he does try to make things exciting. :D
was this the first blizzcon sc2?
Second.
+Doncroft1 2006 is the first
you wish you could play as good as these guys
just a good game but the best game i ever see was kiwikaki vs stephano :P so awesome to play pvz
MVP MVP MVP MVP !
He should have droped some spores with those spines, and made a few corrupters earlier to hold position on his cliffsides to stall harass
@quicktooth1 you talkin crap on Day9?
@TheHitlerGuy I fail to see what your point is.
nestea!!!!! NO!!!!! Why didn't you use your overseers with those twenty-seven broodlords!!!!!
when u are studying he is playing starcraft every day all day to win that shit!
MVP!
well that was extremely painful to watch, i never want to sea nestea. or any other pro gamer play like that.
50000 for playing a game? What am I doing at college?
lbh bro give me 5 mins you already have lings in your base ?
@TheApostle344 Are you kidding me? He made nothing but broodlords in the end, if that kind of play doesn't get punished then there will be no game.
just epic!
GG MVP!
