    Despite the loss I agree with John, that was intense. The Rebels crippled the Isd and they were out gunned from the start. Jendon and Maarek are badass. Not too bad there Ken ! Great show as always guys!

      Thanks, Maxwell. It was a tough one, however I was outgunned with squadrons. Poor choice of starting commander ability here - planning for later. John has stated that my game has improved since our first campaign and many of our battles are much closer (and more intense) than the score shows.

      Thanks, Eric. Keeping the Rebellion in the Rim games to 45 minutes is fairly easy as we're playing with virtually no points. We also try to remove most of the "thinking time" and leave you all with the main content of the battle.

    Great match guys, very entertaining. As a physicist I love that you summarise what losses youve had right down to defence tokens and shields each round - it gives a great picture of what went wrong, where and when. From a duo who record a lot of match stats, I can really appreciate that its a lot to keep track of and then present it so well graphically.
    Ken, I sympathise with your loss here. I'd have said it was close to being in the bag for you, but just a few errors really turned the tide. You mentioned the neb B, but actually I'd have just sped up, now down, and past him to the side. Still may have died but less likely with his side arc (which he didn't want to use, he wanted to use the front). Also your Cr90 I think you should have turned inward to give a double arc. That extra 2 dice of hits couldve made the difference. Since you out-activate him so severely, and you have small squishy ships, I'd recommend having lamost entirely navs, outmaneouvre him. Nothing else particularly matters, maybe an engineering for each around round 3 to undo some damage. I'd also recommend avoiding the trap that seems to get you where you tend to waltz up to that devastating front arc. Go a bit faster a bit sooner, keep at medium to long range, and really drive the ships around the sides of him, force him to make tough decisions on who to hit whilst you are always hitting him.

      David, we're glad you are enjoying all of the data we present at the end of each round. Being data guys, we felt it was a good thing to provide this to you all as In our view it helps tell the story of the battle. Having said all that, we're equally happy you find it useful and well laid out.
      On to the batrep: Errors and mini-mistakes tend to ruin my games. I'm still working on understanding this game. All of the advice is great and appreciated. My plan was to try and force all my fire on to one arc, in retrospect sides would have been better. John has said before that Armada is a game you lose a lot before you start to win... I think I'm getting closer to the not losing part. :)
      Thank you for being a part of our community, we hope to continue to entertain you.

    These have been a lot of fun. Low fuel really hurt having to start of bunched up. If the Assault frigate and CR 90 had some room to fly and use their dodge tokens this might have been a win for ya Ken. You finally were running some hot dice just didn't have enough shots.

      Low Fuel conditions really have an impact on some fleets more than others. I still lost this one in deployment - the Neb-B needed to hit the side of the ISD. The hope was to hit the front enough to overwhelm the defense tokens and take down the ISD. The fighter squadrons had other plans.

    Great battle report to go with the coffee this morning. Does anyone else feel like the fighter reward numbers need to be scaled back in RitR?
    Montross at 30/15 I don't think should have been allowed to take as a round 1 base, sure as a border world like Lothal that has to be contested, but the 24/12 like Smugglers Run feels more appropriate with how quickly someone can scale with Fighters over picking what is likely 1 upgrade card from another win/loss. I think FFG assumed players would be pushing to get additional Aces, with these higher point pools, maybe it would have been better change up how aces can be gained or not having the ability to start with 2. Part of me now likes an idea of only 1 ace at the start but allowing the player a mechanic like spending a veteran token and the point difference to 'upgrade' their standard squads to Aces

    • @IONRadio
      @IONRadio  3 роки тому +1

      Skaal, we hope that this batrep goes well with your coffee. :)
      Squadrons definitely are the key to winning this campaign, and we had several conversations on how to manage them. We discussed everything from Aces to squadron caps to limits on new ones. I suspect we'll have more to say (and probably some updated rules) once we've completed the full campaign. We appreciate the suggestions though!
      We are a little hesitant to do too much though until we know what rule and card changes are in store with the new upgrade pack.

      I think the reason squadron rewards get so high is because otherwise there are many squadrons you could not even get with point values of 10-12 points you get at best from other upgrade rewards. And since you can't go above 250 points, you just get a temporary advantage. But maybe that temporary advantage is still too good. One should only get 8-12 points (half for the loser of the battle) but can bank them?

    • @IONRadio
      @IONRadio  3 роки тому

      @@DanielRMueller Interesting stat on that: There are 5 Imperial and 4 Rebel Squadrons you can get for 12 points.

Playing for the objective vs playing to limit damage is a hard choice. Even if the Rebs loaded one side, Jon could have turned the ISD to compensate. @@klinktastic In my RitR campaign, rebels had a Star Hawk and I had an ISD, and we played the prototype objective. I foolishly tried to get the prototype as second player, which brought me right into his double arc. It seems to me as if objectives like this really can help ships with good double arcs or gunnery teams to get the most out of their best weaponry if you can draw the enemy to that objective token. So it seems it might really be better to not try to achieve the objective and instead hope it makes your enemy predictable.

    • @IONRadio

      So I picked this objective because I could try and turn it against Ken. Most objectives will give an advantage to the 2nd player. In this case with what are fleets were I put Ken in a hard spot. He had to play for the objective or give me two decimators that I could fly after him for 3 turns. He had to face my ISD head on to do that. It was a very close game with both of us pushing our fleets to the limit to reach the token.- John

      So because the ISD rammed into Ken's ship it must fall back to the next available joint. This is the only time that a ship can overlap the movement tool.
