Thank you! While I was waiting to fix this, as a temporary fix, I tied a rope to the trunk release and ran it over the back seat into the car. I just pulled the rope instead of crawling into the trunk ;)
That's a great lesson. Thank you. But in your future channels, most people would want you to cut straight to the chase without a lot of talk about your experiences. Because they're trying to get to the bottom of a situation at hand. In my case, it's cold outside and I just needed a solution to my problem. Now don't cuss me out for saying these things. I believe you're a cool person, and a great teacher. You're clear leaving us with clear understanding. Just don't over-talk the next time. Take care❤
I tied 2 scarves together to keep from crawling. Tied it to the emergency latch in teunk and draped the rest over the back seat. I was cute with it and made a loop at end. I just reach back and pulled the scarf loop. Trunk is open!😊
I had a 2012 2LT RS but in all black. Never, ever, ever again will I buy a black car. LOL Miss it sometimes, then I remember what a pain it was to keep clean.
I have the same problem on my 2014 droptop. Button on drivers door panel doesn't release it nor the key fob button. Found on the forums the convertibles has the key tumbler on the rear seat bolster between the back and the side panel. I'll open that wire loom and check for broken wire but i also hear a clicking under the dash when pushing the release button on the drivers door panel. Not sure if we have a relay also for it.
Drill a hole in the trunk drip rail or gutter (not sure what to call it) and use a grommet to seal the hole from water getting thru and run the wire thru the grommet instead of the way it is now. This will eliminate the pinching of the wires since the excess wire will lay in the drip rail/gutter when the trunk lid is closed....my Mercedes GLE 43 had all the wires going thru that drip rail which made it clean and no pinching of wire.
Mind if I ask? I have a 2015 Camaro LT with what sound like a stuck lifter. So I added one quart on Marvel mystery Oil to the car in place of one of the 6 quarts on the oil change. It used the red Marvel mystery oil and not the darker one. Do you think this is ok. Most of what I've rad says yes
On the convertible fifth Gens there is a trunk release at the top of the rear driver side seat, just insert your key and turn. It’s tucked behind the seat cushion.
You commented this 40 minutes ago. Exactly on time thank you good man. That piece of shit in my profile picture is wrecked and im rebuilding it, took the battery out so it doesnt drain and i forgot “how am i gonna open it now?”
This is a longshot of a question. My son has a 2012 Camaro SS recently. He has been experiencing what he describes while driving. The car will glitch for a second check engine light comes on and off quick. He says it feels as if the car quits and comes back on within a matter of a second. We're not sure what electrical gremlins we should start at any suggestions
My nephew pulled the trunk release when the trunk was already open and now it doesn’t open any more by the car’s buttons, we have to crawl into the trunk as shown. Hopefully this is the solution
FYI, Its a problem on the convertible. Ive got a 13 vert, same color as yours. Same issue. As for opening the trunk when the button and remote dont work, on the vert, there is a key lock between the driver side back seat and the molding. just push the seat back a tick, and you can see the tumbler. Just use your key to open it. PS - I didnt give up my switchblade key either!!!
@@rafaelordaz1104 No clue on that one. Sorry. My trunk button works fine. and when the trunk was malfunctioning (broken wire) I didnt try to put the top down.
So I was trying to get the convertible open and pulled the emergency release bottom and closed the truck now the trunk won't open and its 2023 convertable 😢all the buttons work but the truck showes open on the screen and won't actually open
I had this same problem with my 2010 camaro, the difference was the dealer installed a 2 speaker sub woofer in the trunk right behind the rear seat fold down, and was unable to locate the inside of the trunk hardware to remove it, I was un able to get to the emergency latch handle, Soooo my Wife kept pushing the trunk release button and I kept banging on the trunk hoping the solenoid would kick in, eventually it did, opened the trunk and went right for that harness, found all 3 wires were broken but not separated from the insulation so the wires looked good and must have been touching to get that last pop of the solenoid. cut the harness and added a 3 " piece of wire to each existing wire, then soldered and wrapped the new improved harness with tape.... very annoying problem!! PS had a full trunk of food to boot. Also tied a length of rope to the trunk release in the event this happens again.
Any chance you know what to do if the manual release is also not opening the trunk?😅 i’ve used the emergency release before without any issue, but my battery died and when I climbed in to use the release to open the trunk, it’s not opening.
you sir.. should look up blend door failure on 5th gen camaro.. then come back and say this is the most annoying thing about a 5th gen.. and i'm on my 3rd 5th gen..
That stinks. Sorry to hear that. Several have commented about it now. I've gotten lucky with mine so far at 128K Miles. What year is your car? How many miles?
@@TheSundaeDrive this is my 3rd 2010.. on this one i have 159k miles on it.. the blend doors been out for about 3 summers now lol. the blend door is a sub $20 part thats prone to failure..and GM/chevy decided to bury it in something you have to remove the windshield to properly repair..
I’ve been through this crap for the past 2 years. I got the blend door actuator replaced and watched how much of a pain in the butt to get to only to have the damn thing break my next summer. I had to bear suffering in my hot car through the summer with no money to fix it again. Now this trunk problem popped up. FML
My brother called me in a panic that his battery was dead, and he could not get into the trunk. This video helped him out. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Not to panic simply pop the hood and hook up jumper cables to pop the trunk
Thank you!
While I was waiting to fix this, as a temporary fix, I tied a rope to the trunk release and ran it over the back seat into the car. I just pulled the rope instead of crawling into the trunk ;)
You're welcome!
Did the same rope👍
OMG.....I was so worried it was something big and what you showed is exactly my issue. Thank you so much!!

I have a 2013 Camaro convertible and this is a big problem. Thank u for the video 👍
Happened to me today with my vert, what you do? Mine is a 2020.

Thanks so much for the simple, yet very helpful fix! ❤
I was sooooo sick of crawling thru the trunk to open it! Glad I'm only 5'2 😂

I agree 100%. No issues with my keyfob
Absolutely!

I definitely love the orange. New it was the color I wanted as soon as it came out with the matching interior
My issue is the button will not work but the key fob does. Any suggestions?
I tied a rope to mine so I can open from drivers seat. Lol. It’s highly annoying. Wish they had a key to open in the rear as a backup also.
Agreed

Got any tips on how to keep the wires from getting closed when you close the trunk I seem to be having that problem and causing my trunk to leak

Not a bad idea. Thanks!
Crazy part I can not get in my trunk and neither key works for the lock on the side of the seat
Thank You! Going to attempt this right now on my 2010
Good luck!
Wait till the 3rd brake light goes out and the entire interior must be removed to replace LED assembly. $1000 at Chevrolet dealership
Oh man. That's crazy. Can't just remove the rear tray?
@@TheSundaeDrive nope. Mounts inside back window. 8.0 hrs labor plus led light assembly

Might as well leave it like that.

How hard would it be to swap the metal hook on top and the motorized latch on bottom that way the wires dont have to move around?

What if trunk and lights respond to remote, but driver door won't open?

mine won’t close do you think it’s a latch issue?
Check to see if the wire is bunching and blocking the close. Probably a latch issue tho.
It works with my key fob but doesn't work inside car button
