I sooo appreciate this video! Saved me a trip to the dealership and $190 diagnostic fee to find the cause for this issue with my 2016 Camaro Convertible!
I have a similar problem on an MG6 Magnette, but both the fob and button do not open the boot lid. I’m going to have to access the latch through the back seats! However I’m not sure I’ll be able to access the latch or even remove the trim with the lid shut 😮 Last night the driver door also stopped operating on the fob 😮 I had to open it from inside via passenger door. I’ll be having a look at it today
I believe that WD40 is a solvent that will dissolve whatever is gumming-up the mechanism and then a lubricant which matches the material of the mechanism should be used. If you just use WD40 the volitiles in the solution will evaporate and eventually the remainder will draw water and capture particles of dust/dirt and prevent the smooth function of the mechanism. WD40 is only ever a short term fix on its own.
What if the emergency release fails as well as key fob and interior release leave (Hyundai 2018 accent ) I can hear the clicking but can’t get the latch to disengage with key fob , interior release and the emergency release does nothing. Any suggestions on how to get latch to disengage or what could be the issue ?
What if pushing the “open trunk” button doesn’t produce any sound from the lock mechanism? I tried opening with a key - doesn’t work too. Button from the interior does nothing too. The car is Mazda RX8 2006
Thank you! That part where you used a screwdriver at the same time you hit the unlock button saved me hundreds of dollars!!! Thank you!!!
I hear the latch. This demo was thorough and clear. I now feel confident to go and give it a try!! You R🎸CK!!

Thank you, you just saved me a trip to the shop and fifty bucks (or a hundred). Took less than 5 minutes.
Thanks a lot I'm going to try it on my friends Camry.😊
Thanks a million for your wonderful video and explanation. I found this video very helpful.

Check the latch and make sure it’s not stuck, and just needs grease. If you’re hearing the click, then the solenoid is engaging
I've found WD-40 insufficient as a lubricant. I prefer Super Lube. Thank you for the vid.

@@mykolaschannel you may have a problem with the lock mechanism itself. Could be the solenoid
@@PhillipsVision thanks for the answer, will be investigating
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY COBALT TRUNK LOCK WORKS FROM THE INSIDE BUT WHEN I TURN THE KEY TO THE OUTSIDE LOCK IT TURNS BUT WONT OPEN THE TRUNK.
Try spraying some WD40 into the key hole to loosen up the inside mechanism
@@PhillipsVision i did but nothing i,ll try some more inside the actuator thanks.
Mine won't open at all what do I do Chevy Impala LT 2013?
You need to get it open first then follow these steps. You should be able to drop the rear seat and access the emergency release
My 2016 impala trunk pop open whenever I unlock door with the keyfob
My trunk open but it makes a noise like hesitation but it close😢 5:37 5:40
How did you get it to open? My emergency release doesn't work at all, I can still here the clicking.
