Meep City after the ban feels like Chernobyl, went from all lively to absolutely deserted and dead within days and still, even after years, filled to the brim with cancerous radiation.

it fell off hard even before the ban. Parties used to be fun asf back in the day with only a few bad ones, but when the normal player base grew up and a bunch of ODers showed up that It fell off. The ban just cemented it's downfall imo

This is just extremely sad, I used to always play Meepcity in early 2016 with my Dad. We would fish, and buy cool houses and castles. Making cool houses with football colours and party floors everywhere. It's really sad to see a safe haven filled with nothing but fun core memories turn into an infested junkyard. I'll likely never return unless things get better, Meepcity was once a good game. But It's time to move on.

I actually played meepcity around 2021 to 2023 with my sis (we wouldn't get out of my home in it often) and when we went to the hospital, some edgy kid said "are you guys married?"

I actually feel terrible for Meepcity. Not for Alex, not for the ODers, but for the place itself. I remember joining Meepcity when it was first released, back before parties were created. Hell, I even remember playing as a guest in that game. And as I’m reading other comments and seeing how this game was seen as a whole-hearted memory for us all, I just can’t help but feel sad watching a game that we all loved fall so far down that it can’t even be helped anymore.

Its interesting to hear people's nostalgia for Meepcity as someone who also played it a little bit years ago - I personally was never super attached to it or got super into it because it was borderline identical to Toontown, just minus the cog-fighting mechanics.

Yeah pretty much tho it had so much potential he could’ve bought back the party feature and actually make it more faster and nsfw proof, while also updating it, it feels a lot different know it lost its unique charm it once had
How is alexnewtron not banned yet? He was fully self aware of what was happening and proceeded to not do anything about it just because he was getting lots of players. Its crazy how much influence things like this have over people.
Plus, they now ban devs if they do nothing, so it should happen regardless.

I remember when everyone called greenlegocats crazy about his stance against Meep City claiming that he was overreacting about the situation and that Alexnewtron was not at fault for the massive inappropriate content that was going on, that wasn’t until in early 2022 bigger YTers like Laughability Kreekcraft were covering it, then days later it gets taken down, everybody saw that he was right all along

Remember that all the backlash, bypassing, inappropriate behavior and party removal on Meep City could have easily been prevented if Alex hired a Moderation team or a working report system instead of being stubborn and relying on Roblox knowing damn well Roblox reports back then were trashy and always punished the wrong/innocent people 95% of the time.
He was already making a living on Meep City regardless, the player count averaged insane numbers combined with 95% of players buying the Plus gamepass for parties and other cool benefits, so his team could easily be paid with Robux or Irl Money.
Not to mention, Meep City was featured multiple times from Roblox and I think even had sponsorships and MULTIPLE toys (just looked this up and there was like 9 toys related to Meep City lmfao, all between 7 to SIXTY dollars depending on the retailer 💀), AND was the first ever Roblox game to hit 1 Billion visits lmao

Nice to see the ramifications of AlexNeutron’s inaction when it came to moderating his game.
I remember playing meepcity in 2020 with my younger brother. We were just playing mother father child like children do. I remember how we played cooking in the kitchen, then some random dude came into our house to asked for 'weird stuff' (stuff that is defenitly not okay in such a game) . We were so scared in this moment that we quited the game. :(
Meep city was one of the greats during the golden age of roblox standing next to work at a pizza place and many more.... sad to see such a game fall
I was kinda sad when the party thing was removed cuz like I went to any Fnaf parties I could find and vibe and hang out w so many people that were also Fnaf fans. And the houses were decorated so cool like how the pizzeria would be. I feel so bad for all those people who decorated for nothing now 😭😭 but it’s absolutely most definitely good this was removed
Even tho I haven't play much of meepcity in general the fact that it likely started a continuing wave of E-dating along with the other stuff that went down showcases that roblox absolutely sucks at their moderation along with creators sometimes getting to comfry with what is going on inside of their games.
I... never heard about any of this. I played meepcity for the first year into its release, and I played one final time during 2020 where me and a cousin sat there and played the little "get four in a row" thing for a few hours. But dear heavens, I had left before it had gotten that bad. Either that or I just wasn't paying attention.
Either way, you're lucky to have not gotten corrupted by all the inappropriate things

Honestly that was technically the only good thing about that game because I was able to interact with others and just have fun
its just really upsetting because I and lots of people loved just going to the partys and having fun, I would love going in the roleplay/cosplay/gaming parties, I met such lovely people and had so much fun hanging out and seeing how other people dress up. I wish that the whole game wasn't affected just because some people were disgusting

when i was younger i LOVED parties and would dress up and decorate my house as my favorite game or movie and throw a silly fnaf or mermaid party, id go to other fandom Parties and just have fun stealing outfits, making friends with similar and interests, and surprisingly it was a meepcity party where i learned how to spell chocolate. meepcity and its parties was a core part of my childhood so it sucks it turned out like this ☹️

Back when I joined roblox (2017-2018?) This was like the first game I ever played, I was a little child back then and people were nice.
The other day I tried to play it and nah this wasn't the meepcity I once played 😭😭😭
Meepcity was one of my favourite games to play just as a regular mmo, i loved the new released items and the games you could play, and i got so sad when i realised it would stop being updated 😭 i didn’t care about the parties, i just miss the atmosphere the main game used to have
i remember how i used to always look for random cookie run kingdom themed parties and steal the morphs of the characters before the parties got removed.
4:18 It's genuinely insane, the drop in players after parties got removed. Granted, not everyone was using parties as condos, but a lot were, and the fact 90% of the playerbase left after parties got removed really says something about the people playing the game, and what they were doing in it.
Actually believe it or not that was the only reason I played Meep city was for the parties part and before you say oh no I joined those type of parties that were supposedly in the game no I never did. I only joined the fandom parties.
There are a lot of other games on Roblox that are making the mistake of ignoring or feeding into bad communities. While their communities aren't necessarily breaking TOS (like Da Hood), it still honestly drives away new players from their games.. And it goes without saying that if you don't get enough new players then your game will inevitably die.
The same can happen to PvP games with a overly positive feedback loop (aka games that have too much of a unique skill, grinding, and/or p2w demand,) but that's not what this video was about

The thing is there was good parties, but they were hidden under the bad parties, another thing is that those bad parties move to the school, is even worse
I'm honestly I think the reason why the inappropriate parties randomly appeared was that maybe an adult that was inappropriate with the kids decided to make this a trend in Meep City and that's why the parties got banned and if so then that really pisses me off

the obvious answer to why alexnewtron didnt stop parties is money. millions of visits per day, and he didnt have to do any work to get that. just act oblivious to whats actually happening in your game.

There are still people who have innapropriate avatars and you can still find these parties by going to the neighbourhoods and go to the houses so the amount of action is a good amount but it isn't enough

Hey you should investigate brookhaven too. Quite a lot of similar things happening there, which is bad in a game little kids love. They removed one of the animations that could be glitched to do something, but people still find more ways to.....
Joined the game and not even five seconds later someone was telling someone else to cut themselves, then two people had extremely inappropriate avatars with a lot of nudity. Shame, this game was my favorite as a kid, sad to see it wither like that.

Once in chat I saw something at the time I didn’t fully understand but now I realize that it was someone doing inappropriate activities/saying them.
It was really sad to see the drastic change in the game but sadly it had to be done, I wish they brought back the parties but knowing the risks they could’ve also made it more safer, the game feels a little different yet sorta dead in some ways, heck the parties were the best feature but sadly it gone.

I remember being excited about how I was going to be able to make pizzas in MeepCity after seeing the sign signifying the soon update. I wish more was done about inappropriate games. A lot of NSFW games still get published to Roblox, and barely any of them are being taken care of.

i only played because making parties to roleplay as your favorite characters was so fun, and you got to make your own avatars, maps, and stories for said characters and fandoms. it was such a happy and unique experience, but without parties, there isnt even a point to play the game anymore. i wish i could get back the robux i spent to get plus so i could make my own parties, music, and roleplays.

2:40 I think the drop, although parties are a big factor in it, has other causes too. Lack of updates, new map, boring gameplay, unfinished minigames, blatant cashgrabbiness, the creator’s inaction being exposed, etc.
