    Through the bible I am sure of my beliefs. Sure I take it on faith that what the bible says is 100% true, but I have faith that what is written in the bible was inspired completely by God and thereby is absolute and accurate. I do respect people with other beliefs, but I am sure that my beliefs are intact and accurate.

      I respect that. I'm an Atheist and I believe there are no Gods. And of course I believe that to be true. It's nice that you can respect other people's beliefs, or lack thereof.

      NaturallyNandi that's the same with me. I have put my faith in God and trusted him to help me do good things in people's lives and I belive that 100% of the Bible was written by God. I do respect other people's beliefs because what thy choose to believe is not my choice just like my choosing to be a Christian is not my parents decision , it was my desician

    what do you mean by living your life "appropriately" "accordingly"? I agree with you in the sense that faith is the core of Christianity, but I also think that we (Christians) do have a responsibility when it comes to defending our faith, it is biblical (read Jude 1:3). 1 Peter 3:15 talks about that we have be ready to give answers, but do it with kindness. I am currently learning in school about the relationship between reason and faith. I love the fact that God commands us to love him with all our heart and mind too.
    I also want to say and encourage you to keep being the light of the world by being on UA-cam! ;) You know what I mean.

      Thanks. I asked because some people tend to say "live accordingly" and that can mean living a self- righteous life, just a moral life. It could mean so many things ...

    I don't have a problem with people having their own religious beliefs, I just get annoyed when people try to push their beliefs on me. If a Muslim started preaching the Quran to a Christian, they would likely be outraged. Yet some Christians think it is ok to do the same thing and people shouldn't get upset about it at all. It's more of a "I'm right, you're wrong" mindset, rather than just letting people believe what they want to.

      Kelly Blaine That's only a few christians. Not all are like that. Christians should be loving and kind and patient with others. Christians will preach to others, but they aren't trying to bombard you. They are just passionate. There are only a few christians that give all of the others a bad name.

I have no problem hearing things that I haven't heard before, but it's always the same stuff said the same condescending way. But I appreciate your point of view

      @MiaWilson-kl6bq 8 років тому +2

      Sechari well, in my opinion SOLELY. because i don't really know on everyone else's opinion, but it's not really pride, it's more of what it is. Because, there is a god, and Christianity is not a "religion" it's by faith, *i know the argument that follows* but it's true. So not pride, but because it's true.

I don’t want to hear people talk about their beliefs in general, especially if it’s not someone I already know, care about, and respect. But actions and character speaks volumes even from a stranger. Christians talk way too much. They need to listen and do more and talk less.

      Polarheart45 Are you saved? Receiving salvation is the only way you can be considered a Christian in God's eyes and it automatically makes you go to heaven when the world ends. In order to get saved, you have to FIRST repent (ask God to forgive you for all of your sins), THEN declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord AND believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead

    but as a Christian you are to spread Christianity and God's Word, because you might be the only one who can bring this particular person to Him.. there's nothing wrong with respecting opinions and views, but keeping silent is not the key - matthew 28 19

    • @oliviawilder1291
      @oliviawilder1291 8 років тому

      Valeria Christophorova honestly I get that but religion is different for everyone. So you might be a Christian and Nikki is Christian but you guys both as humans can interpret the Bible so different. Some people like to keep religion between them and in this scenario God. That doesn't make them less Christian or even a bad one. I'm not saying this to attack you because I can't judge you off one comment and I shouldn't judge you based on anything, so this comment is generalized and targeted at specific Christian's only not all of them but some christians see the world as if their religion is the only right one and they try to force their ideas off onto others which honestly can be offending. So it's not a problem if Nikki uses her religion to help herself and as a way to focus on getting her own self healthy. Not every Christian goes to church and gets involved in spreading the religion because some are just fine and feel spiritually pleased with just a relationship with God. This comment was not meant to be hurtful or mean to anyone I'm just stating that religion is different for every human

    • @MichelleMacAuley
      @MichelleMacAuley 8 років тому +6

      I think people tend to forget the historical context of the New Testament. Two thousand years ago Christians NEEDED to spread the word. There was no television, newspapers, magazines, social media - none of that. Not to mention, there were no churches - not in the sense that there are today (back then they met in small groups in many different places). Today, if someone wants to learn about Christianity and becoming a Christian, all one has to do is call a local church, go online or read a book. 'Spreading the gospel' isn't nearly as important today as it was 2,000 years ago. If you feel led to do so, go for it. Just do it respectfully without fear tactics. On the flip side, if someone from another faith feels led to try and convert you, please give them the same courtesy you would want them to give to you.

    • @MichelleMacAuley
      @MichelleMacAuley 7 років тому

      garciamyra18 There's nothing wrong with having doubts.
      "A faith without some doubts is like a human body without any antibodies in it. People who blithely go through life too busy or indifferent to ask hard questions about why they believe as they do will find themselves defenseless against either the experience of tragedy or the probing questions of a smart skeptic. A person’s faith can collapse almost overnight if she has failed over the years to listen patiently to her own doubts, which should only be discarded after long reflection."

    As someone who was depressed for twenty years (from roughly age 7 to 27), depressed people aren't depressed because they are focusing only on themselves and not the world around them and not helping others. Personally I think, and have always thought, that helping others is the purpose of life, and have always gone out of my ways to help others. But I was depressed and suicidal for a LONG time even so. Many depressed people cannot help it, and most depressed people do not want to be depressed. So my advice is be active in your treatment. It isn't a bad thing to see a therapist. There are several different types of therapy and I did two types. I still see a therapist every month to stay healthy, even though I'm 39 now. (I have other mental disorders too) and pretty much under control-- I need the therapy to make sure I stay that way. And if someone is depressed and has body image issues, that is a double whammy there and they need extra care. But therapy only works when someone is ready to do it-- it cannot be forced. But it is there for a reason. I also see a psychiatrist, because my diagnoses require medication, but that isn't a requirement for everyone, and in the case of body issues I would say to stay off medication, as that can alter your body. As for religion, I am Wiccan and believe in a God and a Goddess. Mom and Dad were Christian but were- betrayed for lack of a better term-- by the Church so they practiced at home. My older (and only) sister is and has always been very devout in her Christianity. That is what worked for them. About the age of twenty I went on a long, ten or so year journey into religious beliefs until I found what worked for me-- and Wicca was it. And Wicca also helped me in my mental health. As I learned more about it, my mental health kept getting better. A former roommate of mine called me evil not only for my beliefs, but for not believing the way SHE did, without understanding what Wicca is. There are a lot of people who do not understand about Wicca, Paganism (Wiccans can be Pagan, but not all Pagans are Wiccan, and I am not a Witch either, as I do not practice magic) and similar beliefs.

      ive been mostly atheist in my life. earlier this year a impossible coincidence that happened when i visited a buddhist temple, on a whim, led me to believe there is definitely a force in this universe. the stuff that ive seen and experienced lately, its not unfathomable that biblical stories actually happened. i totally believe they did, but at the same time, i believe other beliefs are completely valid too, theres just more of a community with christians, and the tight knit, being in such a community definitely has health and mental health benefits. i do have cognitive dissonance with church's teachings... for example, ive seen aliens, believe in dinosaurs, etc. i guess long story short, i think faith is a very good thing, though im still unsure how i should approach it.

    • @cloveskiwis

      I watched this video in its entirety and I also watch Nikki's videos pretty
      regularly. While she is not on a mission to "convert" people, she doesn't live in
      shame. She has over a million followers and she mentions Christianity quite
      frequently all over social media. Many Christians in today's day and age are
      very PC and keep their religion under wraps so that they don't offend anybody.
      This is especially true on UA-cam. Nikki is humble, leads by example and her
      light shines through. She's never self righteous.

    • @amberdream6
      @amberdream6 8 років тому +4

      LoveTube777 no need to get upset, I just mean that the whole point was that she doesn't feel the need to "stick up for" her beliefs because they are hers. Your comment completely contradicted that. No one can take your beliefs away from you and no one is trying to. People just see things differently than others and there is nothing wrong with that. That was what I got out of this video.

    • @LoveTube777
      @LoveTube777 8 років тому +3

      Wendy Weissberg When did I get upset? I just think it's cool she talks about her spirituality in front of a million people. That's pretty brave. Most people won't talk about religion or politics because it tends to get people angry and Nikki talks about it often.

    I love the idea of not "defending your beliefs but living by example" is a GREAT way to put it! I think I should adopt that way of thinking since I don't label myself under a specific "faith", I take different beliefs from all over.
    My husband and I believe in different things from my family and when I told them, they accepted my decision but at the same time they didn't fully understand it. With that philosophy, it's a great way to "show and tell" so to speak. Thanks for the advice!

But I am sure of the presence of God in my life. I just wonder what you've been taught? The first commandment is to love God with your whole heart. How can you do that if you aren't sure 100% sure of what you believe?

      I think what she was saying is that christianity is what she believes and she know that she believes it.But she knows that she might be wrong-because she could be- it doesn't make her less godly , it just makes her smart.

      the base of Christianity is faith....if your a "christian" you shouldnt be even slightly unsure about it...its a 100% faith that Hes real. im not sure what she means either

    • @sydneyyoung3
      @sydneyyoung3 8 років тому +1

      She made it very clear in the video that those are her beliefs and that is %100 what SHE is sure of. But it would also be very close-minded to just amuse all of it is true without and factual evidence. So, (in my opinion) actually makes her even cooler because she can have a faith but understand that lots of people have other faiths also.

      @kristengann6864 8 років тому +2

      I think she may have kind of worded it oddly trying to get her point across, but what I feel personally and what I think she might have been trying to say was that she herself knows God is real she believes it but she personally has nothing tangible to give people to show them that God is real. But really that isn't our job as Christians we have our experiences that has proven 100% to you that God is real I've had mine but that isn't going to be the same for everyone else they have to have their own experience and God has to change their heart we can't do that only God can so we are supposed to share our experiences and plant a seed for God to take care of.

    Love your stance on religion and standing up for it. I moved to North Carolina from Connecticut 3 years ago, and was truly overwhelmed by those who seemed to "shove" their religion down my throat. I don't mean that to be offensive, I just feel religion isn't for everyone. If you have found God and religion, fantastic for you! If you are perfectly content and happy without religion in your life, also fantastic! Everyone has a right to their beliefs in my opinion, and I can really see how important your faith is to YOU!

    I am more spiritual than religious. I believe in treating people the way you want to be treated, being the best person you can, and to end suffering (aka forgiveness) I don't follow a religion because I believe religion is a man made thing. I don't go to church because I am spiritual so I don't think there is a need for that. Meditation is a way to practice spirituality. I try to always live in the present moment because the present is all we have. If your living in the past you are depressed and if your living in the future your anxious which isn't good for physical health. I do believe in God. I also treat all beings with respect animals and nature because the animals have feelings and the we only have one planet earth so we should all collectively try to take care of it. Just my opinion and of course I respect EVERYONE's religious beliefs.

      ALICIA MARIE I used to practice meditation until I found out it was bad. Meditation is Buddhism and it actually allows evil spirits to come in your mind when you meditate. This may sound crazy to you but it's true. People who are saved/born again will know what I am talking about. The best meditation is to mutter as you read bible verses. BTW since you are into new age things. I would suggest for you to watch Steven Bancraz videos. He used to be a skeptic now he's a Christian.

I'm open about God and I'm a firm believer in the Christian faith to not only reflect God's love but to live a life that's completely devoted for God's kingdom. It's important for us to be bold in our walk with Christ and bring people to Him as we learn.

    This is so interesting to me, as I am a bit of a religious studies geek... religions binds. It's something eminently social, and I think it's so interesting when you say your job is to learn, love, and "live your life appropriately".. I was also raised christian and in some denominations, it's an authoritative thing, but at the same time it was, of all times, a way for groups of people to make sense of the world, to give it some form, some order, some coherent rules for all to follow in order for the whole group to thrive. Who needs rules when you're all alone with your own soul?! That's why I think it's not so much about personal belief more than about shared beliefs and ethos.

    On the note about depression, it really depends on the depression and what you're going through. A lot of people with depression are actually really hard on themselves as it is. I think some more advice would be to reach out to someone (friend, parents, counselor, online resources, etc) and talk about your feelings. Sometimes it helps to have someone listen. And learning to forgive yourself and love yourself takes time, but baby steps. One of the communities I'm in really pushes the idea of saying 3 nice things about yourself, especially (but not only) when you feel like something that lives in a sewer.

  • @HeatherRising
    @HeatherRising 8 років тому +2

    To the person asking about depression and negative body image, if all of Nikki's wonderful advice still doesn't help, do not be afraid to seek professional assistance. I suffered from depression and disordered eating while in college and decided to talk to a therapist. I literally called the number on the back of my insurance card and they helped me find someone who would take my health insurance. It seriously helped me so much and I think about everything my therapist taught me to this day. There is no shame in what you are feeling and no shame in asking for help. This goes for everyone struggling with these issues! I'm sending love and positive vibes!

    The problem I have with religious belief is that it's not based on evidence. I understand you might "feel" something is true, but how do you know, in an empirical sense, if it's really true. I worry that people have no problem justifying their beliefs just by saying they're "true for them."

    • @arbretree5463
      @arbretree5463 8 років тому +2

      Atheism has no evidence to support it neither, there is no proof that the entire universe can appear out of nothing, the Big Bang Theory does not make any logical sense but you have the right to believe in it, it is part of your free will.

    • @LR-jl3sv
      @LR-jl3sv 8 років тому +6

      There's a ton of historic evidence which suggests that Jesus really did die and rise again

    • @LittleVenator
      @LittleVenator 8 років тому +4

      There is plenty of evidence that a universe can come from nothing. You should read "A Universe from Nothing" by physicists Lawrence Krauss. The Big Bang makes perfect sense if you understand the physics behind it. There may be some evidence that someone named Jesus was crucified but how does that prove he was the son of God? Also, the burden of proof should rest on the one who makes the assertion. If you say, "God exists," you have to provide proof for that claim.

    • @jesusislord9755
      @jesusislord9755 8 років тому +2

      Paige It is based on evidence when you become saved/born again. I can definitely tell you that I have been tormented by the devil and I have got to known Jesus. I also have the gift of the Holy Spirit from God and I have actually seen these gifts work on me. Before I got saved I didn't even think these things were possible. But it's very real. God and Jesus Christ is real and unfortunately so is the devil.

    • @jesusislord9755
      @jesusislord9755 8 років тому +4

      How do you think this planet was created? Look at the human body and all the organs and systems in it? How can someone not create that? Look at the animals, flowers, trees, fruits, vegetables, etc. There are natural herbs out there that can cure illnesses. Do you think these herbs exist out of nowhere and make us feel better out of nowhere? I'm not judging you but I just want you to think about this for a second. Do you really think we do not go anywhere after we die? I was an atheist for a while before I got saved/born again and when I was an atheist, life just felt so confusing to me. I became depressed and couldn't figure out the purpose of life. I was also worried about what was going to happen when I die. It was when I gave my life to God that I found out the truth and the purpose of life.

    As a prior Atheist now Christian (2-3 years), I always found it more interesting and easier to talk to those who were prepared to share their faith rather than convince me or judge me for believing otherwise. I found God on my own, and I think it's the way He wanted it to be. I'm not concerned personally with trying to disprove or convince people out of their beliefs as I think they can come to us in many different ways. I've also never heard anyone say "Well I was saved after I saw this angry group of Christian protesters!" Jesus called us to love and to exude his light. Not to hate in any way.

    Love that scripture in James!! Great Video Nikki. Christianity isn't a popular religion. When we truly obey the teachings of Jesus people get uncomfortable. I encourage you to speak the truth and pray that you gain boldness to stand up for your faith. Consider the Great Commission - Jesus' last words before leaving this earth. He's commanded ALL of us to do this work and he'll be with us.
    Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19

    Go Nikki! Props for sharing your beliefs and putting yourself out there. I totally respect this. ✊ I love your videos. Feel like I'm the only atheist in the comments haha 😂

      Krystal Duran your not :) I really like her take on her belief system and that she doesn't expect anyone around her to believe the same thing

      Krystal Duran I'm agnostic, borderline atheist, so you're kinda not alone haha

      I'm an atheist, but videos with "religious beliefs" in the title is basically clickbait for me

    Nikki, I have been watching your videos for quite a while now. I absolutely admire the way you hold your beliefs. I personally am an atheist, but I also don't know for sure. I try to be understanding of other religions, and I appreciate how you are like that as well. You are a truly wonderful person and one of my greatest inspirations here on UA-cam. Keep being wonderful and lots of love from Canada❤️
