    I have and use all three. The Go is great for when I go on work trips. I have a Journey Instruments travel guitar and the Go fits right in the bag. The Mini sits in my desk at home and gets tossed in my weekend bag. The Spark 40 is for when I am seriously practicing at home or for quieter rehearsals with my band. I love that I can us it for my bass, too. It saves my from hauling my heavier tube amps.

    As you pointed out in previous videos, you can plug the earphone output from the Spark amps into an amp with a larger speaker to enhance volume and perhaps even frequency range.

    +10 db = twice as loud
    that is most important thing everybody should know to have some idea how it works :)
    .... sooo if I have
    10 db = 15$
    20 db = 30$
    30 db = 60$
    40 db = 120$
    50 db = 240$
    60 db = 480$
    70 db = 960$
    80 db = 1920$

      That’s what I bought the GO for, but it wasn’t loud enough IMO to have on a coffee table. Had to put on my lap or end table next to me. It was also popping at volumes over 70%. I exchanged it for the Mini.

    Hello... I'm on the fence between the 40 and the mini... the price difference between those 2 is minnimal so I feel like I'd be wasting money if I buy the mini instead of the 40. What do you think of that? I seen other videos basically saying that people prefer the mini so I'm confused! Thanks for your thoughts.

    • @boechlerguitarsandrepair
      @boechlerguitarsandrepair  Рік тому +4

      I prefer the sound of the 40, however the 40 has a wired power supply and the mini is rechargeable. The mini is much more portable but if you are going solely for sound, I would go with the 40

      I had the 40, got rid of it and got the mini. I regret it. The mini is an amp in a box and has that “sounds like a box” sound. The 40 can sound like a real amp. You can always turn down the volume, and there are batteries that you can power it with. For the extra $20 - $40, well worth it IMHO.

  • @神谷了

    Spark 40 is 40w, Spark mini is 10w, Spark Go is 5w measured Lebels are 98 dB, 86 dB, 78 dB. difference are 12 dB = 4 times, 8dB = 2 times. so this measurement is correct.

    The acoustic setting is not very loud....we all know the distortion settings are loud. The idiots at Positive grid screwed up when they made it impossible to hook up a PA or external speaker in an acceptable way....I can add the external jack but not having a line out or XLR is stupid. Especially since the connect their new cabinet via the headphone jack....everyone is complaining about the noise with the headphone jack. Just used it tonight.....so noisey! I'll never buy any more PG stuff.

      @boechlerguitarsandrepair  11 місяців тому

      Yeah they are not very loud compared to some others. I think the value lies in the software and the preset/tone shaping options. They have a powered cabinet they are releasing soon to get band setting loud that works with the spark amps I'm hoping to review soon

      It’s easily the worst sounding amp I own but I have the 40 & GO. I bought the Go for my private lessons but any amp is going to drown it out where you can’t hear it unless you line out. So it’s basically useless except for playing while I grill cheeseburgers or while watching tv. The 40 just sounds dull & bass heavy (even with eq). I actually use it for my bass more than guitar.

    I'm testing out a friend's Spark40 before I potentially buy, and have a quick question: I have a fender frontman 25R amp that seems to be SIGNIFICANTLY louder than the Spark40. Do you know why the spark is so much quieter despite the higher wattage?

    • @boechlerguitarsandrepair
      @boechlerguitarsandrepair  4 місяці тому +1

      The number of watts in an amplifier determines power, which isn't the same as volume. Especially in digital amps, watts don't mean much for volume. Speaker size, electronics etc all play a part

      @@boechlerguitarsandrepair Got the GO finally, it is not as loud as the ms2, but that small marshall was more of a fuzzbox when overdrive was turned on and I remember I just throw a small pillow on it to reduce vol and well compress the fuzz XD
      Anyway the Spark Go sound real nice, it has a lot of features, I do not need my effects, I do not need my clipon tuner, I do not need to take 9V battery out to charge, but it has also a lot of compromises. I wish they would just throw in another speaker and made it 3" wider, but they probably do not want to compete with the mini. Also if this has tons of effect features, it would be nice to have more audio outs not just the 3.5mm jack (and the USB), I know I can use any adapter I want, but those always create loose connections and crackling sometimes.
      I will also look into how to make a preset switch for it with a raspberry pi or something (the switch board is just to expensive and huge compared to the Go).
      I think it is a very mediocre bluetooth speaker, but I think because it is dialed more in for a guitar, has lot of mids with some highs (before the firmware update it was actually harsh) and missing some bass. I will try to adjust some EQ on my phone for playback, I think that will help.
      I'm happy with my purchase, cannot wait to hook it up to a PA or a huge cab.
