My v2 spark is on the way. I currently have the v1. I love 'em. I worked for a company that helped start the desk top amp category and was pretty involved with the development and launch of that product. It was successful and sounded great at that time. I've heard them all... it was my world for quite some time. The Spark wins all around. Sonically, functionally, the form, the support... the whole ecosystem just works. Can't wait to dive into the updates.
One can not describe the enormous sound of the Spark without being in the room with it, very amazing, I have let a lot players hear mine and they are genuinely impressed once they hear it in person.
To me, spark is priced perfect and is the perfect at home guitar amp. I’ve purchased a few to give to friends and family. Love em, and can’t say enough about them.
I use the spark go everyday and also ordered the spark 2 amp to keep by the couch. They are so much value for what you get and are wonderful option if want to plug your headphones in and rockout through the night. Have barely touched my expensive amps because its so easy to set these up for a practice session and make great bluetooth speakers for music.
Bought my Spark 2 on the initial roll out and received it a few days ago. Just started playing around with it and absolutely LOVE it! I have only scratched the surface of what it can do but it has made playing fun again! Can’t wait to dig into it more!
Great demo Mr Riffs! My Spark 2 was delivered on Saturday over here in the UK and I"m working my away around it at the mo. What is amazing is how they've got the spacial effects like delay and reverb to work so effectively and realistically for example, I was playing around with the Ambient presets and the delays on those were so realistic I thought I had an echo in my room. It wasn't, it was that the speakers have been designed and positioned so well that you really can get a full sound out of this small box. Cheers!
I've been a huge cheerleader for the Spark 40 since it first came out, and I already preordered this one. Was a nice touch that they offered existing Spark owners a reduced upgrade price special, too.
Let’s just hope it doesn’t have as many issues as the first one. Mine is always glitching and have to find constant fixes. It gets frustrating when all you want to do is play and it decides to take a shit on you.
@@Newbomb_Turks_Punch yeah, mine developed this ridiculously loud pop when I turn it off, and for a week it would randomly turn on a weird tremolo effect on every preset, then that just fixed itself.
I like that various styles of music are being run through the spark 2. It’s a fair chunk of change to get one delivered to Canada. The upgrade offer is decent. For me it’s about learning the gear to get the best out of it.
The original has been my daily amp for the past few years, and I've been using my spark 2 for 3 days now and I must say it sounds much better, especially with heavy distortion, and gritty sounds. Can't speak to much of the software features but for me it was worth the upgrade tone alone
I have zero experience with the Spark, and I used to be against digital amps. Hearing it with you playing that Vintage Music Man... Makes me want a Spark 2. I am convinced that anything will sounds good with it.
I have had the Spark 2 for 2 weeks now, I have never had something like this before, I was truly amazed with this product, and that I could ask the new Ai feature to give me the sound of Comfortably numb to get a very similar Davdd Gilmour tone or the Somewhere in time distorted chorus lead tone from Iron Maiden and get very similar sound without having to tweak or create my own signal chains, SO AMAZING. I am so happy i ordered this speaker and the battery pack accessory with 8-12 hours of rechargeable time. So I can play outside with friends 50 watts of battery power, very loud and amazing sound / tone. Every guitar player and bass player should have the Positive Grid Spark 2 =)
I have the original and I can make it loop but it takes the air step and a tech wizard to make it happen so I was happy they added a more functional looper, might have to upgrade!
Ah damn, I was hoping you could upload your own IRs to this one. I don’t think I’ll rush half as much to get the new one, but the quality of life improvements are nice.
I use the spark as a BT speaker to play along with, but it's awesome as a little practice amp. The recto model isn't bad, you can shape the tone some with the app.
I was hoping for some advice from those who’d know; I got a Boss Katana Mk 2 and a RC5 looper based on advice from my guitar teacher, which I use as my main gear when practicing. I had a Spark Mini before, and loved it because it was so easy to use. I find the Boss products to be not very user friendly, often a bit frustrating. Would it be a mistake to sell them and change over to this new Spark 2?
The one thing that I really hope they addressed in this new one is the glitchy volume and tone issues that happen with my original Spark 40. I’ve done a couple firmware updates and it still will occasionally change volume level and the tone will change randomly from one power on to the next. Sometimes I’ll turn it on and it sounds louder and clearer and feels inspiring to play and other times it’s way more quiet and feels like it’s missing something almost like if you were to turn down your guitar volume control. Definitely not the guitar since any guitar I plug in when that happens sounds off.
We need folders to organize sounds. I like creating different sounds for different guitars, would love to label folder by my guitar names. Or by band names if I want to do covers
Ive got the og spark 40 and the mini. I love them both. Yes the sound does leave a little to be desired, but its good enough, you can approximate pretty much anything without annoying the neighbours and play along to stuff your from YT or spotify or whatever.. Theres a couple of issues with them, i dialled down the bass a bit on my 40 by stuffing a sock in thr centre hole, and with two devices sometimes get a pairing issue where pins are not right. But overall very happy with thrm. Adding a looper is good but i dont see too many reasons to upgrade jist yet.
I own a Spark version one. I use it 'clean' and add stomp boxes for performing and it's really great. I didn't care for this demonstration 'cuz it was almost entirely 'metal' demonstration on it. The version 1 has too much bass that you can't really dial out unless you have a stomp box equalizer. The blue tooth audio that I play sounds terrible on that version one. Apparently the Version 2 has less of that bass.
first spark had too much bass. but i see ways of addressing that with the eq pedal etc. sounded pretty massive for a practice unit, di to a desk for jams or small coffee shop gigs etc, I'd be tempted to give it a go.
Ils devraient améliorer la connectique en ajoutant du Midi pour pouvoir changer de preset et ajouter une prise pour un haut parleur extérieur. Sinon c'est un excellent ampli.
Yeah it definitely is needed on these amps! I have the original spark and some of the amp models sound ok but I know they would sound great with some of my favorite ir’s.
I have the mini and my local guitar center just stocked up im about to return mine bc its so bassy and muddy i love the idea but it sounds like trash with my prs ce and i know this guitar sounds absolutely amazing with other amps
Seems like a good follow up to the original Spark, just not sure where it fits in to the current market. Great tones and demo as always. Who am i kidding? I'll end up with one
I have a love/hate thing going on with Positive Grid. I love their software. Mostly like the Riff because I can travel with it, but it picks up all RF noise like a sponge and can't function without a phone or laptop connection. And I hate that they won't create an amp head for a cabinet, or an amp that doesn't require a cell phone to use. I don't like my phone having extra functions beyond being a phone.
I feel the same way, although you can set the tones you want and then you won’t have to use your phone each time you turn it on. The Spark 2 is supposed to work with the optional foot switch without being connected to a phone too, plus you can run it all on rechargeable batteries. I’m hoping it’s less frustrating than the original because it sounds pretty good for what it is.
i heard the speakers were the biggest issue.....i know these are supposed to be better but i wish they would make a premium version of these with some crazy good speakers
Im not opposed to digital amps (love my catalyst) but anything so reliant on an app is a no for me, aside from the menu diving not being something i like, these amps are landfill the moment the app stops being supported. Apps should be limited to fine tuning, not be essential for use.
I got the spark one. I had preordered it months ahead of time on a count a cause a, I suffer from G.A.S. Well, let me just put it this way. The next gen white model came out 10 days before Mine even arrived. Disappointed not, Furious? Absolutely. I had gotten my passport because I was going to make a sea assault on Brittany. I had plans to fight my way up the Thames and overland to at least the Brew House in Oxford near the castle mound. So spoke the wizard from his mountain home. The vision of his wisdom means we will never be alone. And As such I became embroiled in more important things. Chasing women, stealing gold and other finer things.
How does spark 2 compare to Hotone Pulze? At the moment I have a spark 1 and a Yamaha thr 10 ii. The heavy distortion in the spark is so bad compared to the thr that I don't want go for this again. Also liked some deep delay in in hotone review so can't decide where to go next.
Heavy Distortion is Bad? They didn’t have a metal zone for You? The Rectifier, Engls, LANEY even! I still use Jam Up and it destroys if Uou know what Your doing
The New Black by Every Time I Die but transposed in a different tuning, I think I came to the comment section to comment the song's name, and I saw your comment. Figured I'd help out XD
You get what you pay for. I have the Spark 1, and have not played through it for a year or more. There is a reason for that. Nearly every household has a computer so just buy yourself an interface, Reaper and get yourself some free amp sims and IR's for less than half the price with 100% better sound quality. Fluff says he "Loves the Spark product line", but how often does, or did he do a video on the Spark line...? I reckon I can count on 2 fingers or less.
Think anyone could help me? I'm in the Market for a portable amp like this but I'm torn between pre-ordering this or getting the Boss Katana Air EX, like there has to be a reason the Air EX is still retailing at $500 while this is nearly half that and not even released yet
Did you have any issues with bluetooth connection being disconnected all the time? Thats what I m having atm with my spark 2. It really sucks. Moreover no support so far from positive grid - that sucks even more.
Yes, I received my Spark 2 and was able to use it for a week and a half. Went to use it and couldn’t get it to power on at all. I filled out the form for customer support. It took about a week to hear from them. without doing any troubleshooting on it. It started working. I put in a formal request to send it back for a replacement or a new one. I have sent it back to PG. It’s about a week,I have not heard any word from them.
im very new to guitar and I just got this amp. but i gotta say i dont kno most of what any of this vid was showing off. I guess i wont be utilizing the best for now
I can’t give up my tube amps. It sound OK, but nothing beats tubes and once my ears pick up on that digital harshness that most of these amps have, it’s all over.
For a practice amp where you just need a "good enough" tone it would definitely do the job. You can clearly hear the modelling is way behind most other platforms though.
@@davidscarios Really? Wonder why they got it wrong on the Spark Live then? I can't think of another amp with a line out that mutes the speakers. Headphone outputs sure, but not LINE outs!
As a Spark One owner, this new unit is pretty underwhelming. It still has the outdated Bias FX inspired interface, and the amp models don't sound noticeably better.
I am still punishing my first gen Katana Air. It's like the best camping amp ever lol it's dented af and scraped to heck (I glued the grill back on lol) but it just keeps going and going. I preordered that thing, what, like 4 years ago...thought it was overpriced, but wanted some of the upcharged features and man if you can find a little portable amp that you really enjoy it's worth buying up fiddy or a couple hundred bucks to get what you really want because if it lasts you'll probably have it forever. No idea what I'm going to replace it with when it dies, it was the first amp that taught me a tiny twin was something that could actually fill the average backyard bbq pretty nicely or just go off on your bike or whatever and jam by the Columbia River in one of the little nature parks here in Halloweentown.
Seems like either clipping or muddy speakers is common problem on All lunch box amps. I don't go below the marshall 30 watt mg for practice that thing won't clip. annANother Thing: seems like those lunch box amps are line level And or it's like playing guitar through your tv speaker that sounds hifi but really its just superficial and goes butt when pushed?
Ive had the No2 for a few days and very disappointed with the drum sounds on the app for the lloper. Rock/Pop/Funk/Blues??? How about jazz or reggae or soul? And they are ALL IN 4/4 !! what about 3/4 or 6/8 or 7/4 or even 5/4. And the way the beats are organized, you have to go thru EVERY one to find what you may be looking for. Not even grouped into metal/prog/classic/light/heavey. Really bad and so easy to have NOT done it so lazily. Would have been noce to have printed instructions in a BIG font - we dont all have 20/20 vision spark-people. Have to print out the instructions from the website. The general sound, like No 1 , is Still very bass-heavy and you have to EQ every pre-set and save. On the plus side - its VERY loud and clear and the add-on battery lasts for ages. The controls are WAY better than No 1 . Not sure I'd say its worth selling your No 1 to buy it though..... and the resale prices have crashed, obviously. Close, but no cigar. Cant wait for spark 3 ha ha ha
@@theprisonier Absolutely, they've done some good work. I mean, if someone asks me if they should get it as their amp and they don't have a spark already, I would absolutely say "hell yes, buy it". I love my spark 40.
I have both and the new one sounds better. I look at it this way… it costs the same as a decent delay pedal and if you use it as intended, it’s amazing.
@@englishjim6428 that’s good! I am curious to know if the amp sim were updated and sound different when compared to the old ones with the same settings. Also, for this comparison it would be interesting to run it with headphones or direct to pc, because the speakers in the original are not that good.
Can you dial the bass down on this one or no? V1 of this amp has WAY too much bass even with the master bass knob set to 0 - it was/is pretty dark without diving down into the pedal mods or putting an EQ pedal in front of it.
I like practicing but we're already plenty of e-bay unsold and/or disputed items in here. It's terrible to move when the empty rooms are almost finished. Good Spark, on the other hand there is still no support to switch presets on the smart watch and the usability without any android-pc device is quite limited to basic. I don't know. Namastè.

No idea what I'm going to replace it with when it dies, it was the first amp that taught me a tiny twin was something that could actually fill the average backyard bbq pretty nicely or just go off on your bike or whatever and jam by the Columbia River in one of the little nature parks here in Halloweentown.
Lots of forehead leaning into the laser focused authorial ether. Umm do you know stairway to heaven?
Not a review. It's an advert.
Did they fix that muddy speaker?
Seems like either clipping or muddy speakers is common problem on All lunch box amps. I don't go below the marshall 30 watt mg for practice that thing won't clip. annANother Thing: seems like those lunch box amps are line level And or it's like playing guitar through your tv speaker that sounds hifi but really its just superficial and goes butt when pushed?
each preset sounded like farts, just different kinds of farts. never spending another single dime on anything positive grid.
Cant wait for spark 3 ha ha ha
i have the original, and honestly I don't see much difference. The looper is nice and all if you use one. Definitely not worth right now to upgrade.
Speakers. They improve it really. But it’s a bedroom amp, don’t need to change it I agree, but really it’s better.
@@theprisonier Absolutely, they've done some good work. I mean, if someone asks me if they should get it as their amp and they don't have a spark already, I would absolutely say "hell yes, buy it". I love my spark 40.
I have both. The new one sounds way better. Looper is ok but I preferred the easy access presets of the old model.
So...just a review of the app?.... Ok
Can you dial the bass down on this one or no? V1 of this amp has WAY too much bass even with the master bass knob set to 0 - it was/is pretty dark without diving down into the pedal mods or putting an EQ pedal in front of it.
noise
I like practicing but we're already plenty of e-bay unsold and/or disputed items in here. It's terrible to move when the empty rooms are almost finished. Good Spark, on the other hand there is still no support to switch presets on the smart watch and the usability without any android-pc device is quite limited to basic. I don't know. Namastè.
