Moss Gorge Waterfall In a Jar

- For a while now I've wanted to make a project inspired by a gorge waterfall. It's a beautiful sight, with a very particular look to it. I figured it made sense to start on a small scale and with moss... I mean, how can you go wrong with that? I don't think so. I hope to do it again at some point on a larger scale.
Until then, I hope you enjoyed the video. Let me know what you think in the comments!
Can't get enough moss content? Check out the entire moss playlist to see what else is possible with this incredible plant.

It feels like forever since I did I moss-focused build. I had to do it again! Let me know what you think. Also, I made a moss playlist if you want to see all of my videos on the stuff. Check it out! ua-cam.com/play/PLGPT1t4Cqpfheu74J0OlPUQ6yCl4mvko0.html
Mossman
You need a comic named after you
I want to see a moss collection video. Could be very interesting depending on where you get the moss.
Truly da boss of moss!!!!!!
Rad
There is a TINY SNAIL on the moss at 4:56 and I wanted everyone to know about it! It's so tiny!
Thank you!
Wow, great eye!
Wait...? Wait... Wait... Are you saying that tiny guy is a snail? The little thing that's located at 3 O'Clock out center of screen?
@@avilacanario Yeah, it's a little spiral shell!
It is TINY! Got them "Hawk-Eyes" I see.
Wow it looks awesome! You were able to hide all the plastic and the pump and stuff very well!
what are you doing here
Hey mr.Jars love your channel
Lol 👍
love your channel :)
Sup
I love you mr jar man
I saw moss, so i clicked on it, simple as that
How good are your eyes dude
relatable
I thought it was that gas
Woof
Same bro, same
Last week you showed me something I could never do, and this week we have a very approachable project. I love the range on your channel, and no matter how big (or small) a project, you always do a wonderful job. Thank you for bringing so much joy to my week!
Don't get me wrong, I'm really liking the scape, but I'm more impressed by the fact that you not only found a lid that fit so perfectly, but you also had a light that fit the lid, and you were able to just create a lamp out of a few pieces and parts.
I agree Trent on the whole lid/lamp... Although I cringe whenever I see him use the hot glue like that. There are types of silicone that would go on smoother and have a overall cleaner look. But I mean that's pretty much the only thing that gets me.
@@xblindgurlx yea it just felt super rushed and messy, especially with that scratched up piece of polycarbonate. Coulda been better :/
He's a genius
@@r.five.3 I mean, I think the idea is that nobody is going to see the scratched polycarbonate
@@stormevans6897Which makes it even better that he found a use for it instead of it going to landfill
You should build a saltwater tidepool
Why
@@Alundrahs did you just respond to a 2 year old comment
@@kritz480z he did 😅
i second this
MORE SALTWATER PLEASE
THIS IS SO COOL! Id like to see what you can do with a peanut butter jar and other normal household items as a special challenge or something!
he has MANY videos on household stuff :) they are very good
Also, flowers are delivered in vases like this. You can probably find them at your local thrift store or yard sales because people don't know what to do with clear glass vases.
Everytime my daughter hears your intro when im watching your videos she comes running to watch too, we both wanna try to do a setup close to yours some time. Thank you for your artistic videos keep up the great work
This made me so nostalgic for home and the Columbia Gorge. That first waterfall looks an awful lot like Horsetail Falls!
I think that was Multnomah falls! The gorge is amazing :)
@@Piratemoviemaker Oh you're right! I didn't see the bridge before!
@@rachelwebber3605 I've been to Multnomah Falls, but not Horsetail Falls, would you recommend it? (Portland Native here)
@@ironcladteddy8753 Oh yes! It's a very easy walk, right past Horsetail Falls Bridge if you're approaching from Portland. There's a second fall nearby called Ponytail Falls that's pretty cute. Oneonta Gorge is close to Horsetail and Ponytail, very beautiful, but tends to get overcrowded and can be a bit of a hike (especially over the log jam). It's amazing, but requires basically wading up creek to reach it. Better to look at photos, I think. Bridal Veil Falls is another waterfall along the Gorge that's easy to access and quite lovely!
I'm from the gorge too! But on the Washington side
IMA DO THIS ASAP WOW
same I have a similar container
Ooh nice!!! At the end when you mentioned doing it again on a larger scale I immediately picture those glass cylinders at the craft store that are like 2tf tall. I hope that’s what you have in mind too 🤞
I have a big one of those I've been trying to figure out what to do with, and know I know 😎
@@goosenotmaverick1156 do it do it!
I bought one of those 30” tall glass cylinders and have been working on the set up for months. This video is just what I needed to finish it.
I have been waiting all day and now you uploaded! My day could not have gotten any better! Keep up the great work and have a great day!
I’m currently living in a new place and don’t have a whole lot of space. This is perfect.
I use shelves in front of my windows to put my plants and terrariums on because I was also limited on space. Maybe it's something for you too
As someone who has traveled to many national parks this give me an idea to make a couple if these based on my favorite national parks landscapes.
I really would love to take the handle off the lid, and put a lamp fixture on top. I love the interior LED ring. I would definitely opt for an RGB ring that I could control with a remote. Would make for a functional lamp and an awesome night light. Great work!!
Beautiful. Moss is one of my favourites, love how seamlessly you hid the pump. The light in the lid is an amazing idea
love how quick and concise this video is, you've come a long way man!
This is so beautiful, Tanner! Every time I watch one of your videos it makes me feel so inspired to create. Your passion and spark is contagious ! :)) keep up the amazing work!
Really appreciate how you try to use materials that are accessible to everyone!
Absolutely beautiful & fascinating! Looks highly technical to try at my age (76), not to mention lack of tools! Thanks for a beautiful job, very relaxing to watch & listen to!
Love the content! I got into building terrariums through your channel initially. I like how you have an eye for making your builds as natural as possible and they all turn out awesome!
Beautiful as always. Using something like plastic measuring cups is a big brain move. You never fail to blow me away, Tanner!
yeah it always seems complex in the opening B-roll, but then its like "oh THATS what he used..."
This is stunning! I think it's one of my favorite of your smaller size creations! So simple yet so amazing. Thank you for sharing your talents and ideas with us 🖤 enjoy your weekend!
I am obsessed with moss gardens and I don't know anything about moss. They remind me of fairies and magic 😭 what a cool and creative hobby you have.
Looks beautiful
Hey Tanner! you should do a terrarieum with mushrooms in it! Thatwoul be cool
mushrooms are really cool. i think it's a good idea
That is such a good idea! But it might make mould I’m not shure but I love shroomies great idea!
Another fantastic build! Love the addition of the light. This would be a great gift build also.
This is just Beautiful ! Peaceful and Calming to watch.
I don’t know what I’m more impressed with, your plant skills or your DIY skills. Very creative. What do you do with all the pieces you make?
Great idea. Water falls are so relaxing. Thanks for sharing
This is AMAZING!!! Would definitely love to see more of these!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The future. Reminders in jars of what nature used to be.
Thats..depressing
Oh god
Deep
I bought a similar sized jar just this afternoon! If it weren't for the fact I'd already bought plants then I'd totally give this a go, maybe in the future!
Thats amazing. Especially at night or in a dark room with that type of lighting just gorgeous
Ah love the simplicity of it! Larger scale and mist maker on the top is something I look towards to!
Jesus tanner your a god! Really inspired the reptile setup videos through my content.
I'd love to ask about your audio. The voiceover is flawless
It's beautiful! However, as a crafter I have a couple of tips:
#1 Always mark where your stuff is going to go with tape on the outside before securing it with silicone - if you mess up, it's going to be either painful to fix or waste material.
#2 You'll have a real hard time cleaning or replacing that filter foam when it inevitably will need maintenance as its secured to the bottom. I would recommend using something else to hold it in place and hide - like rocks or wood.
#3 Be careful on your choice of mosses as some species don't like constant water movement or saturation so they'll just rot away from the water, those usually prefer damp and poorly lit locations.
Really cool project and I have built one with my grand son's and they love it in their room. Thank you so much.
I love the container for this one! It's so minimal and elegant.
Okay I've made a similiar setup before, there are two problems that I encounter:
1. Those pump still somehow get clogged by small debris although I have literally wrapped it in filter foam, and to unclog it will need a lot of effort (basically removing everything and then reattach)
2. The minerals in water will stain the glass/acrylic because the water will splash even if using the lowest pump speed, in which if they are not cleaned immediately it will be really hard to clean, especially in a closed tank
I'd like to know how Tanner deals with those issues. We have really hard water here and mineral deposits are a constant thing in my fish tanks.
@@zenphotojourney RIGHT! I just moved into a new house in December. I have the mineral deposits forming from the Humidifier and on my Monsoon! I wonder if he uses Distilled or R/O?
@@zenphotojourney considering how many he makes, he probably doesn’t
@@Brucelovesjulie he uses distilled. Never tap
That’s what I’ve been thinking about the pump. He makes so many of these it’s probably just for UA-cam and will probably just give it away.
I read it as George waterfall, and I was really confused, it makes allot more sense now.
you must have been thinking about mushroom george
Incredibly inspirational as always.
Thank you for all the amazing work.
Another fantastic creation. I really enjoyed watching your video on the waterfall terrarium as well.🙏🙏🙏
Naaaa, the lava rock gives it a very PNW (or summer in Iceland) feel-definitely worth it!
whenever i read gorge, i read it in the voice of Goofy... Great display my dude!
i grew up 10 minutes away from the gorge waterfalls in Oregon. glad to see some local inspiration! beautiful stuff
These projects never cease to amaze and inspire!
Damn 🔥
I was trying to find an idea for a moss terrarium and this looks perfect. Mind if I ask two questions?
1) [noob builder here] Why did you use plastic cups instead of foam spray? Could you do that or is it too tricky to get the angles right and/or making it watertight?
2) Did you add any fauna to it? I did see a tiny creature and someone else in the comments mentioned a snail.
love it - small - elegant and classic
you are so creative young man. im really enjoying your artistic abilities and getting ideas of my own from watching your videos. i love this
What do you do when the pump gets clogged? Like how long realistically would something like this last?
likely 6 months. You have to service them pretty often.
I would say that's one of the two flaws with his builds, i love them and they look amazing. However maintenance seems questionable because they're designed to look amazing immediately for youtube. Also (and i don't blame him because i would probably makes the same mistakes) He seems to go through and waste alot of man-made plastic-based polycarbonate materials.
@Gabby Gabs well i don't make videos, but i would say just make sure you can access the pump without having to break it!
I like to think that background trickling was because you were using the bathroom while recording the voice-over.
Inspired.....totally want to do something similar now. Love your stuff.
This is amazing. I am putting together a 75 gallon terrarium. This gave me a great ideas for my waterfall, and backdrop! Thank you.
Please get yourself a tarantula, I swear you won't regret it. I'm just letting you know they are addictive. I got one last year and now I have 58 different species 😁🕷😎🕷😜
For real! I need to find someone to pair up some of my adults with!
I have 10 so far😬
@@leggi_bois4eva great 👍
Do a very tall Whites Tree Frog Vivarium. Trust me you won’t regret it. Fun and interactive species
Absolutely gorgeous and a doable project for those in cramped apartments!!!
I really needed to see a project like this! Simple beautiful!
How much did this cost you for the materials?
I know nobody cares, but I just slept 11 hour and woke up feeling well rested.
Edit: 12:52 AM EST, Wednesday April 28. I had 2 anxiety attacks whilst trying to sleep.
Good for you
*clap clap clarity clap clap*
Good for you. The most I ever got to sleep was 16 hours and I woke up feeling like I was a zombie.
@@springdayalwayscomesback4954 thanks man. Hopefully that doesn't happen next time.
I care.
I'm so jealous lol 😭
This is so neat! Very good job. Very creative on the materials you used and improvising the lid!
This is a master class in project management in addition to the building of something phenomenal.
So, when you put the light in the lid you used hot glue over the heat vents for the LEDs then placed it directly against the lid surface with nowhere for the heat to go.
Interested to hear what happens to the light if left on for say, 2 hours. Hot glue melts again? Catches on fire? Melts the lid? Something else? Nothing?
Thought the Same ... he Needs Some vent Holes in the top
Came here to ask this too. I have a LED ring light and it still gets pretty hot after an hour or 2
Serpa, not to be mean or anything but I don't really like how you are editing/changing some pictures or parts of the video in a way that is not really how it is (like the cover image for this video), I loved the project together with all the other ones you do, you are such an inspiration, thank you❤
You make it look so easy. You're such a talented artist! Love it.
Hi Tanner! I love this idea! I like the lava rocks because they look like boulders that would be seen in some areas with waterfalls. It's so awesome the way you come up with all of these incredible ideas. Thank you so much for sharing!

I like the rocks. I feel that the scale is perfect. I wish we could buy stuff like this already made. It's beautiful.
That ring light lid is so good. Absolutely beautiful piece. 😊
I love all your project, and this one is another amazing idea. I have all the parts, too, except the light. Thanks for sharing your creativity.
A remarkable design. VERY well done.
Fantastic project 👍🏾 beautiful results
Looks good. I can't believe how well the light worked in that lid.
Tanner.....you've done it again ! Beautiful !
That was soooo smart! 🤯🤯 Using the ring light! Pure genius! Can’t wait to see how it does!
Absolutely love this build. It's beautiful.
This is beautiful, fantastic, and now I have to build myself one. Thanks for the wealth of know-how, you are really very creative!
Beautiful and the music was relaxing to listen to..thank you
that light fits so perfectly. the brightness and the contrast of the light reminds me of my mini terrarium
what a nice, simple project in the middle of all the big stuff you are working on, and i imagine this to be really easy to replicate!
I've whatched this video multiple times and i'm still amazed by you skill and design
I love this idea! Resembles some of the waterfalls here in West Virginia. I find it interesting that the water flow and sound made at the falls depends on how the water cascades over the rock. One spot looks like a flat sheet of water coming over the rock while others fall to one rock, then another, and finally into a pool at the base.
Delighted that you used our beloved Multnomah Falls as an inspiration for this cooll project! Here in Oregon we love our Columbia Gorge!
Great work, looks like a nice piece of art. Thank you for sharing.
It’s always calming to sit down and enjoy something like this
I was already loving this but the ringlight in the lid was just * chef's kiss *
AMAZING! This is giving me lots of inspiration, thanks for sharing
As soon as I finished this video I bought all the supplies to make one for myself, can’t wait to give it a try!
Beautiful. You never cease to amaze.
I am new here, and already addicted to your videos. All you do is awesome! I always collected moss & rocks but didn’t know why and what to do with it. Now I discovered what I can “do” ... of course will never look perfect like your work. I am trying to build this setup in a plastic aquarium... thanks for giving inspiration!
I love all your work but just wow.. inspiring for sure!
Oh my gosh! This looks so wonderful! Great job man!!
