DIY Flowing Waterfalls Moss Book Nook (Living Library)

- In this one, I add something completely new to the mix. I have a growing library and although I like the look of books, they'd be even cooler with some life... a mossy waterfall perhaps? Definitely!
I've wanted to make a book nook for a while now. Something special that that adds life and interest to the bookshelf. Join me on this journery to see how I did exactly that.
Enjoy the video and let me know what you think about it in the comments!
DUNA-USA provided the Corafoam I used to create the background. It doesn't include a promotion, endorsement or anything like that, but I still wanted to link up their site. I have no affiliation.

What do you think of my living library? I personally think it's a pretty cool project that was fairly easy to make. I hope you all enjoyed the video and a great weekend SerpaSquad!
Just thanks for what you do ! You are very inspiring !!
Its beautiful
Could you design something that would effectively raise the humidity in the apartment and be aesthetically pleasing at the same time?
Great idea! Just hope no splashes get on any books
You’ve inspired me to try this myself. Amazing work and results. Thank you ☺️
" Fairyl easy to make" he says 😅No, you make it look easy, that is not the same. You sir are an artist! This is beautiful!
@@chrislanza9420 awesome, might try it soon
I got the same though 😂 I was like wait, easy you say? 😦 no way...
Well, making it, and making it look good is two different things.🤪
Just jump in and have a go. You'll be amazed at what you can do, and so will other people.
Do remember that serpadesign did go to art school and understands proportions in a way that we mere mortals cannot understand
looks amazing but my only warning to others would be that this would boost the humidity on your book shelf a lot, this could lead to mold growing on your books so maybe put plastic covered ones near it.
As long as your books are decent quality and the room is ventilated I don't think mold would be a problem; I'd expect more just warping of the book pages which most people don't care about
@@_.-._.-. Nah. Mould will likely grow regardless.
@@_.-._.-. I'd imagine anyone with a bookshelf cares about their books being warped and destroyed or else they wouldn't have a bookshelf lmao. And I also disagree in that I think mold would definitely grow... You're putting water and live plants 2 centimeters away from books with no real barrier - how will mold not grow? It's beautiful of course, but I don't see how it's practical. Although Tanner is an expert at what he does so I'm sure he thought it through and maybe I am wrong.
@@jsedge2473 I had an aquarium, so I'm sure tiny water droplets will definitely land on the nearby books, so I wouldn't put a book directly next to it, that isn't plastic wrapped.
Another risk are leaks, although less likely...
Maybe some fake books near it by Burroughs, Melville or Nordhoff would stand up to the humidity.
That’s really stunning, Tanner. It’s a nice continuation of the “secret passage” book nooks that were popular a few years ago.
It's pretty different when all the plants are real in these things :D
Hey there Tanner! After watching your videos I jumped right in and made my first terrarium using garden weeds, a pierced plastic layer to create a false bottom. Today I made my second one and this time I purchased a very cheap Syngonium Pixie which looks stunning. I created a rock feature and added some dry leaves. It all looks great.
Make a video!
@@mynameisnotcory why???
@@3dandyrandy3 cuz its cool to see how these channels inspire people
Can i see it?
Oh boy here we go again. My weekly dose of "I can build any design I can imagine very easily" power boost lol. Amazing work Tanner!
Waterfall scapes are way better than magazine holders. Just brilliant!
I love seeing Walstad's book right next to it, "Ecology of the planted aquarium" changed my life.
The best part of my weekend is your videos 🙌🏾🙌🏾❤️
It's a good thing I didn't discover your channel back when I worked at the aquarium store. I'd be broke and covered in plants. 🤣🤣🤣.
Your designs are really stunning, creative and inspiring. Thank you so much!!
This is easily one of the most interesting book nooks for me. It incorporates all things I love. Nature art books.. so lovely!
You are amazing. You create such beautiful environments for the smallest spaces. What a gift you have. Thank you.
This is really cool! I'd be interested in seeing how the flora evolves over the next few months, seeing how well everything grows
Tanner: I'll make a really rough sketch...
Also Tanner: makes a MASTERPIECE in like two minutes
👏
I usually like the more natural feel that comes when actual rocks are used for a hardscape, but carving foam to make it look like rock is an interesting technique and made sense for this build since it's lightweight. I was impressed by how much like a cliff it ended up looking, you have a lot of artistic skill : D
Plants and books. The best of both worlds. I absolutely love this one! Probably in my top 10, despite the big complicated ones you've done.
I like the way you explain each step of the process! The way you narrate your videos makes me believe that one day I can try this too!
This might be one of my favorite builds of anything you've done recently. A small slice of nature resting on a bookshelf is such a magical concept. Love it
It’s art and I love it. Just how passionate you are with the little details. The background looks super dope and I love the way you painted it. Amazing.
This is the most INCREDIBLE rock wall that you have done!! So realistic and absolutely stunning😍😍
wasn't expecting that but it turned awesome
I love how the driftwood overlaps the waterfall in a few areas. It gives the piece a lot of depth, and almost makes it look like it goes past the bookshelf. Kinda mysterious and soothing at the same time, the perfect piece for a bookshelf
OH. MY. GAWD! I love this! Such an amazing feature!
Serpa I love how you said easy to make lol easy for you 🙌🙌🙌 I never finish getting amazed by your design. Thank u for all your knowledge
Tanner I think we need a moss dedicated piece of merch! Maybe like a shirt of a mug or something! That would be so cool!!
I really liked seeing your sketching process to come up with the idea!
The carved, painted foam is a work of art, very realistic!
I love it
You are my new Bob Ross. I'm not sure I'll ever create anything you can create, but I love watching your videos.
Wow! Tanner you have a rare talent to think outside the box and create awesome projects. Inspiring and well done!
I feel like if there was a live edge to the top of the "rocks" it would look even better, but overall I think it looks great and is such a fun surprise for anyone perusing your library =)
Wow! My new favorite smaller piece you’ve made. Incredible!
it's so beautiful as always ! so happy to be part of your journey and see your creations years after years and enjoy them along side!
Forget bookworms, how about book waterfalls! Brilliant creation Tanner! Looks awesome.
Every time I see the moss I fall in love with it all over again!!! I want to have something like this so bad!!!!
Literally add life to a bookshelf
I LOVE this booknook, it's beautiful, and I find it so inspiring how you're able to introduce natural elements into so many different areas. Celebrating and inviting nature into our lives is so important. In this specific build I wonder about the effects of constant humidity in close proximity to books. Is there a way to minimize that to protect the books long-term? Would the build need a cover of some variety?
You should make a cave terrarium.
Wow!!!! That is amazing!!!! I love it!
🤩 wow!!!!!
I'm obssesed about the cute little Ikea sprayer turned acuasphere at 10:18😂😍
I need one of those for my bookshelf now
I love your content dude keep it up😄
An expert at his craft makes it look easy
That is such a cool thing to do. You could have a market for these. You make it look so easy, particularly the foam carving and painting. Could you do a tutorial on that please? Nice and slow for numpties like me 😂
I think it's totally awesome it's like a nature inside a shelf of books
this is your coolest idea for a terrarium yet
That is such a sick design. It really adds so much "texture" to the books👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
this is awesome for when you want to add a little piece of nature to an office without a lot of space
That was so creative and pretty!
I envision so many wet books, for us mere mortals who attempt this one Tanner! inspirational!
Totally wonderful. Thank you Tanner.
This might be your best build yet even though it's small
It's cute and calming I think it's amazing
Fairly easy for you to make look easy 😆 you are so talented!! You and you're channel is a blessing to us all. Ty very much!!
I never cease to be amazed by your content!!
Very good job. Fantastic imagination and skill work, keep up the superb work
I love that you took the idea of a book nook and used it in a way i never would have thought of, great idea and video!
wow such an innovative idea! I'm 100% going to try make one as well!
This is the coolest book nook I've seen.
This project blow my mind..unique and an eye-candy view
This is one of your best designs of late. Really impressive.
That is so beautiful. I would make 2 for bookends.
This is awesome! Plants AND books, amazing!
Been watching a lot of your videos because I have a paludarium aquaponic planter project I want to build. This foam carving is exactly the idea I needed to make my project work. Thank you, Serpa
Holy crap those rocks really do look incredible
That rock carving was amazing, so detailed and natural. It's been inspiring to see you push your envelopes over the years. Your such a better artist and even craftsman than you were years ago.
Your creativity knows no bounds
Stunning, how you turn a block of foam into a lifelike rock face. Great work!
I love it!! It's like a little hidden world in the bookshelf!
As always, I'm amazed of your creations.
Creative, smart, visually stunning, and a live beauty to boot!!!! Inspired. Thank you for sharing.
It looks amazing!
Thank you for sharing your sketching! I really liked seeing your vision and how you make it come alive!
you never disappoint Tanner. Absolutely incredible. You are a genius and genuinely never fail to amaze me.
So cool! Really like this one. Looks like you shrank a bit of forest and tucked into the home library. Awesome.
I love this!! A great combination for book lovers and aquascape fanatics alike 👍
Such a great idea, I love it!
This is one of your best tiny builds! Love it
Artist/artiste, a winning combination!
Awesome, watch out for mold with humidity around books📚
I appreciate your merch actually having interesting designs
So many people think just a name or a logo is going to cut it, but your merch is actually stylish and cool. I think I'll have to buy a shirt soon!
How awesome! I'm both a plant nerd and a book nerd, and this build really brings both of those loves into one project.
oh man this is the coolest thing I've ever seen
I LOVEEEE how you put it on a bookshelf!
Bros voice is artistic and his art is angelic and he looks sooo beutiful man u rly are perfect
Incredible job!!
I love book nooks but have never found one that I absolutely had to have/buy/make until now! This is going to be one of my summer projects and I’ve already found some moss in the back yard to work with. Thanks so much for sharing!
Stunning project well done.
More like this please.
You are so talent it’s actually absurd. Keep up the great work !
That's amazing.
Omggg!!! I’ve been trying to figure out how to do something like this with a fantasy/fairy spin but all I had was an idea and no real know how on how to get it done - but now I do!!! Thank you so much, this is amazing!!! 🤩🤩🤩
real artistry man, beautiful job
Tanner, that is absolutely incredible. The vision, the patience, and the skill to pull it off. Will we see a video from your visit to Florida with Kenan?
This looks so good
i love watching a master do awesome work it gives me confidence to make videos myself. thank you
Best booknook ever!
