hi Luke, so happy to see you again discover more and more ABBA songs "Angeleyes" (1979) is a good disco-style song (7pts), within album disco-style "Voulez Vous" (with the exception of the ballads "Chiquitita" and "I have a dream") that ABBA recorded following the influences of disco music in North America with Bee Gees hits It was together, with "Voulez Vous" as double A-side, the third single from said album, it reached #3 in UK In this album I prefer other songs of that style: "As good as new" (the opening track) the tittle track, "Voulez Vous" ore the fantástic "If it wasn''t for the nights" but these tuned is loved for the fans and was trendiing in Tik Tok a few months ago, with a lot of streaming Unfortunaly it haven't a official video or TV perfomanece I see you in next ABBA vídeo My best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South America
Great reaction! :) I know it's like saying 'water is wet' but it never ceases to strike me how incredibly brilliant Abba was. All the tunes just sit in the right places, hop out and cheer you up.., and great lyrics and arrangement.., the melodies and the harmonies..., the voices..., the piano maestro..., And I have never considered myself an ABBA-fan..., I really listen to progressive rock, blues and classic.., but well... in truth I suppose I am also an ABBA-fan. If everything they do sounds brilliant you must submit.
Apart from the inclusion of it in the 2nd MM movie in 2018 this also became more familiar to newer Gens after being a tik tok trend some months ago on its sped up version.
That was the first time I’d ever heard this song, and I fell in love with it right away. Now it’s one of my all-time favorite ABBA songs - easily top five. It gets everything right - joyously sublime.
Angeleyes is in my Top 10 ABBA songs, so I'm happy that you enjoyed it so much. The harmonies are always stellar, but the sound mixing takes them to another level here. It's a perfect example of what ABBA does best; juxtaposing melancholic melodies and lyrics, with uplifting production.
Bouncy! Just bouncy! Love the way you use that adjective to describe their music. Look forward to your Abba insights Luke. You are the best in your field. What's up next? Can you do "The Visitor." Its a banger that I know will pump your British blood up! Love the way you ❤ Abba Luke!
Wow! I've heard this song dozens of times and never noticed. Now I'll never, not notice, his voice in the background. It's a freakin revelation for me!!
Put the headphones on for Eagle and you can hear Benny & Bjorn singing on the far right hand side - easy to pick up on the cans but not so much through a speaker 😎
It would have been great if they had made a video for this fantastic song, I even like it much more than 'Voulez vous', the harmonies are incredible, and I also like the 'ah ah ah' a lot ☺
I couldn't agree more. Love Linda's bluesy, velvety voice. "Long, long Time" is a real real heartbreaker, only made more bittersweet by Linda's seductive voice. She's right up there with Agnetha and Frida IMO. ONJ: talented, beautiful, brave and genuine. They've all made my life much more joyful growing up with these amazing women, as well as Karen Carpenter. I could go On and On and On about them (see what I did there). Much ❤!
Can't you not say Agnetha's full name or something. You seem to love every ABBA song you've ever heard so far and considering you're the age you are, I just wonder how you're so in to them, when clearly your age group is supposed to be into anything crap from 1990 onwards surely? What will you do about the most challenging listens, like the early stuff from the "Ring Ring" and "Waterloo" era, even to 'The Day Before You Came'. I do like how deep you get into this song, because it's not one usually discussed, in fact it's usually more derided or ignored, which is never plain to see why. And bringing up a sinister side to it, as no one has ever used that word for it. So well done.
Agnetha and Frida knew how to sing together in harmony. It was never a screaming match trying to outdo each other like many performers these days.
ABBA ♥️♥️♥️♥️
In my top ten of fav ABBA songs, its so joyous and uplifting
Best Band Ever and the most diverse band around
One of my favourites❤
This was the song that sent me into a ABBA rabbithole last year, because Ive never heard it before and I instantly liked it A LOT!

Abba has a very special place in my heart.
They are so incredible, so wonderful, so unique ... Unable to be as good as them. Forverer, forever, forever.

I love the fun scene in Mama Mia here we go again when they use this song.

Love it!!
What most people don't realise is Björn singing this song all the way through in the verses and chorus.
Wow! I've heard this song dozens of times and never noticed. Now I'll never, not notice, his voice in the background. It's a freakin revelation for me!!
Didnt know that ! listen to it for more than 40 years.. omg

I’m only 20 but knew this song from my mum. 80’s music is the best
I agree with you, these two women were so beautiful, they really were the prettiest ladies ive ever seen in a band ❤❤
Abba, ONJ, Linda Ronstadt, Crystal Gayle ... the 70s were fab for sweet sounding female singers.
