Thank you for going through all that. I like hearing about people's food journeys. We've been duped in the past on the whole grain issue. It's amazing just how Biblical they are, and a main source of nutrition when freshly milled. An encouraging post!

Mary, I’m drawing the line at locusts and wild honey………..well ……locusts. No locusts.
I’m old enough to be you grandpa. Things change as you progress through life.
I discovered that when I’m having to re assess my diet , fasting ,then carefully trying new ways to eat and paying attention to what makes me feel better or worse helps. You have to determine what your body needs, or could do without, at differing times of and situations in your progressing life.
Much depends on the levels of physical activity and just aging in general.

I started milling fresh grains for my sourdough bread, absolutely no store bought flour. I only mill what I'm going to use for making my bread. I have lost weight and feel absolutely great. I love Sue Becker but use sourdough in place of commercial yeast ❤

I heard ancient grains like kamut spelt and not hyberdized the organic whole grains like hard red soft whole grain are hyberdized what does that mean so we need to mill more ancient grains that would be better?

I love the information you give about the whole grain diet! This is totally new to me! I have been told for several years that I am gluten intolerant so I have avoided grains but I have done a lot of research now on the whole grains and I’m very hopeful that it will help me and especially my son. He has Down’s syndrome and also some autism and it’s so depressing how he is deteriorating 😞. I’m hoping maybe these foods will help him. It’s just really hard to change his eating habits. Please keep up the information and the ways to incorporate the grains/ fermented foods in your everyday eating! Thanks so much for all your videos! I live to watch them! You are a very special gifted lady!

You might be only intolerant to all of the chemicals that are used in the commercial processing of white flower. Many people that were yo,d that they were gluten intolerant have found out that they are just intolerant to the chemically laden commercially processed white flour and that they can eat the freshly milked organic wheat. Wheat is one of the crops that have the most Round Up sprayed on them. Round Up kills the good bacteria in your gut. I believe this is one reason that in the last twenty years so many people have started having problems eating foods made with commercially processed white flour. Only about in percent of people in the United States are truly celiac. Eating gluten free is main,y starch and not good nutrition and your health does deteriorate without the freshly milled who,e grains. There are 40 of the 44 to 45 known essential nutrients in freshly milled whole grain. It’s the most nutrient dense food that God gave us to keep us healthy.

It definitely does fill you up for longer. I have gone days without really thinking about food. Which in the past I was constantly thinking about what to eat. And you definitely have the benefits of the fiber. Actually a little bit too much so my stomach‘s gonna have to get used to that. But you can see what a benefit it is to have all this fiber in your diet.

I use Sue Beckers recipe. It's so incredibly easy to remember. 2 1/4 cups freshly milled flour, 1 tsp each of salt, baking powder, and baking soda, 1 cup milk, 1/2 oil, and 1/2 cup honey. Mix well and bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes. I like to add things to my muffins, like pumpkin or bananas, and I always like to add 1/4 cup millet for crunch and the added nutrition. This base recipe can make just about any variety of muffin.

I haven't seen any negative side effects, no stomach issues (actually less as I have a history of ulcers), and I think increased wholegrains are important in our diet. I do make homemade bread but not sourdough. My starter is ready but im afraid to start. I have spelt, and organic whole wheat flour as well as my reg bread flour and unbleached flour. I don't use raw milk yet. We are hoping in the future to move to a bigger property so we can have a dairy cow, but, until then I use store bought organic grass fed whole milk. I am not a fan of low fat dairy. I feel like the fat, if good quality dairy is used, is very beneficial to us. That's why I always use full fat. I do think the quality is very important, though.

Hi Mary I think I may have messed up my starter. I wrote down what I was suppose to do for the first five days and I think I messed it up. I discarded a little more than a 1/4 c of the starter then I added 1/2 cup of flour ( unbleached ) and water. I did not have to many bubbles in my starter yesterday but I did have some liquid on top. Today I have more liquid on top when I look into the mason jar you can see some bubble marks but after I have stirred it really well I now have bubbles. Do I feed my starter again if so how much. Thank you for answering my questions

Oh, it's fine. Just give it a feed and watch it. As soon as it gets bubbly you can put it in the fridge.

@@TheRoseHomestead how long should I wait before I try making a bread ? Do you have the recipes on your videos for what I need to make bread, or to use to make English muffins and other things. Thank you so much for your advice

@@denisetremblay2082 You can go ahead and try when you want. Here is a bread recipe: ua-cam.com/video/d42QBSkgIZQ/v-deo.html and here is an english muffin recipe: ua-cam.com/video/FUiGBgjlpc0/v-deo.html I would suggest the english muffins first to gauge how well your starter will perform before trying the bread.

I have diabetes so I'm unable to eat much bread, which is my favorite thing. Do you have any suggestions on a replacement or a certain type of bread that wouldn't turn to sugar right away...? Thank you🥰

    • @TheRoseHomestead

I feel like freshly milled bread with just a small amount of honey added is superior to any other bread for glucose. I am actually going to look into getting the equipment to check my blood sugar after eating a piece of my bread to see if it spikes my blood sugar. White bread for sure spikes blood sugar, however, the high level of fiber in freshly milled bread, it is actually good at stabilizing blood sugar. I hope all of that helps!

Do you think eating more bread caused changes because you were getting more fiber, or because you were getting more nutrients from the freshly milled grains? Also since I have been drinking the kefir milk, which I really like, I’m a lot more regular. I’d rather use diet changes rather pills to feel better.

    • @TheRoseHomestead
      @TheRoseHomestead  9 місяців тому

I think it was a combination. For sure, the increase in fiber has really helped, but, the energy I feel like came from getting so many more nutrients. I'm with you. Let food be thy medicine!

I’m wondering if it would work for me. I’ve got ibs and silent reflux. I avoid whole grain and fermented foods or even yeast.I think they make me worse but I might be wrong. You said you didn’t have much whole grain. Did you think it was a problem for you?

    • @TheRoseHomestead

I honestly am starting to believe that one of my biggest problems was the low fiber in my diet. Now that I am eating so much more fiber, my symptoms have eased quite a bit. I also have IBS and Reflux. I can't say it has cured me (yet:) but I am seeing improvements every week I am eating this way.

Thanks for sharing. Just stumbled upon this video trying to find some info related to food. Great information. May add my two cents here. I changed some of my eating habits since 2020 when I started to obey Leviticus 11 ( clean/ unclean food) Totally stopped eating pork and have to say my memory has improved a lot. Can remember things perfectly. Like most people used to forget where things were like keys, documents, etc. Can’t say exactly how long took to improve but my daughter is the one who made the comment and yes, she is right. After all, God knows why He said it. New subscriber here.
