    Great info. I have just over 1500 miles on my X4. Only issue has been a leak in the front diff that went away on its own and also the sub transmission being a little funny to shift. Iv just been very cautious to make sure its engaged in Low.

      Aftermarket shift plate and/or adjust your shift cable so that low range is engaged in the middle and not the rear of the "slot" in the shift plate. Hope that made sense lol

    Thank you for the videos. I finally decided to pull the trigger on a turbo. My buddy had a turbo r too.. but sold it to get a Canam for more power for the dunes. Honda has to send out the talon with a factory turbo. They dont honor the turbo install even from the dealer when you look to trade it in. The only upgrade I regret is the factory mirrors... too small.

    Thanks for this detailed review with the sample stock parts and sharing your experience with various upgrades ( like axels) . Like you, as a non turbo R -2 owner, I love my Talon, and at the same time, disappointed we have to spend so much money and time to make the machine more reliable and useable.
    I was wondering if you have any experience or opinion on the Double Shear kits for rear and Gusset Kits for front ? .

    5,000 miles on my R. Everything is stock, running 35x12.5 inch courser mxt truck tires. They fit with negligible rubbing. Stock wheels, stock steering, no i-4wd override bc that's stupid as hell, no double shear, no shock therapy tuned shocks. I live in rocky ass Montana and have done loads of snow wheeling, i-4wd makes the wheel that's spinning stop so that the other wheel spins, and it acts so fast you don't notice it. Subarus use the same technology and they're renowned for how well it works... oh and I've yet to break a single part. I drive asphalt a lot. J jump a lot. I haven't broken an axle. Learn how to drive is all I have to say to people breaking these things lol

    Awesome video!
    Towards the end of the video you mentioned with the HCR long travel you can leave the X rack in? I can’t imagine an R rack in a 4 seater seeing as the R 2 has the same turning radius as the X 4 seater from the factory… the R rack in that long of a wheelbase has to be atrocious!

    • @gravesru
      @gravesru  Рік тому

      That is correct, with the HCR kit, they offer demon axles that have a larger articulation angle than the factory axles. You can also buy demon axles for the R suspension and then use an X steering rack!

Been annoyed with loss of handling since changing from stock tires to 31"carnivores... What are the best options of round top tires you recommend... Tensor DS have a few options... Keen on grippy but want handling heaps better for gravel road driving at decent speeds... Could you recommend some round top tire options? Cheers!

    Just fyi if you have a live valve and install the epowersteering kit you loose the live valve as there is a sensor on the shaft that isn't on the epowersteering kit. Haven't figured a way out to install the sensor on the shaft of new power steering. So you will always have light on the dash that shows failure of shocks due to this sensor not being connected. Therfore the live valve doesn't work as intended. From my experience this is happening on machine. If you have a solution please let me know.
    Thanks
    Adam

    Hi, first I will say you have a very informative show, thank you.
    I am looking to buy a used Talon, I have a Yamaha R Max 2, very low miles that is going is for sale because the ride is VERY un comfortable for my wife and myself, I am looking at the Talon because of the Transmission,[ no belt] but mainly to have a better ride from a 4 seater then my current 2 seater.
    Listing to your explanation at the end you say the 2 seater of Honda is much better for performance than the 4 seater, you do not touch the ride issue.
    Am I going to be disappointed with my change ?
    I hope to hear from you soon, before my Yamaha will be sold. Thanks for your time and knowledge.

    • @gravesru
      @gravesru  Рік тому +1

      Hi! And thank you for watching! I think you will be happy with switching to a talon from a Yamaha. The Honda ride is okay, but you should plan on buying new springs from shock therapy for the talon to improve the ride quality. Shock therapy also offers a RIS (ride improvement system) that makes it ride even smoother. Just know, the stock Talon does ride a little rough, but there’s an easy fix to it.

      I was looking to read your point of view of the different of ride between the 2 seater and the 4 seater Talon. It would be much simpler for me to own a shorter 2 seater than 4 seater. is there an noticeable improvement ? is RIDE OR STABILITY between the two ?

      @@rafaelfrancke2977 the ride on the 1000R is better, and has more suspension travel. It is more stabile since it’s 5” wider. I took the suspension off of the 1000R and put it on my 4 seater & it’s absolutely amazing now! The 4 seater at 64” wide can roll over pretty easily.
