What i do is fall down go to the spring land on the other spring charge up my jump and charge it up again and again then do Some normal jumps thencharge up my jump after that i just spam x bc doing that makes u not go up for Some reason
something i really like in the portrayal of their dynamic in this ending is how brotherly they are with eachother, especially knuckles treating tails as if he were his little brother. it's especially seen in the scene at 5:55 when knuckle's tone softens to a quieter more concerned one, a stark contrast from his usual stoic and serious resting-bitch-voice. that's something i really like about this route!!

Well sorry for the late comment but if he catches you as tails or knuckles the screen will slowly but not too slowly go black and when you can't see anything you will hear sonic exe's laugh. And tails runs away from illusions in a continue screen. If you don't continue then the illusions will make tails run into a wall of spikes. Leading to tails death. Then sonic exe shoots a energy ball collapsing the ground under knuckles causing him to fall into hydro city and knuckles solo run begins.

for those who think you can just use knuckles most of the time on mecha green hill act 2, when he said "you better switch tails sometimes, to see how hes doing, you have to use them both at a decent amount, if you use knuckles to long, tails just dies from illusion by sonic.exe but you can revive if you die tho. i was scared not knowing what to do on Mecha Green Hill Zone Act 2 and quitted but took a screenshot to remember
The only ending I can even attempt getting. Robotnik has the worst controls and the hardest level. I can't get past the first phase for tails and knuckles ending. I get stuck at a wall I need to spin dash through but exe keeps getting tails before I can
