Thanks a lot mate..After watching lots of videos on this topic I was about to buy an audio extractor..but luckily after seeing your video , I cancelled the order..you just saved me a good amount of money..In some other guy’s UA-cam video regarding the same issue, he said that using an HDMI cable one can connect the projector with the soundbar , also being said that the firestick should be connected to the projector …I tried it and nothing worked..The method you said when I tried , is working amazingly 🤩…you have put an end to my one month of continuous searching for a solution on this matter ..a great relief !!!
Thanks a ton Tanmay for making this detailed video. This explains everything. I wanted to get dolby atmos but eventually after researching I found that an ideal dolby atmos setup doesn’t come cheap. So I got a Sony S40R which has dolby digital 5.1 and one OREI HDA-912 (4k pass through device) . Now my chromecast is connected to OREI and I have connected optical cable to my speakers and HDMI to my projector and it works like a charm. Just for the information, I tested the audio with Bluetooth of my chromecast but it downgrades a lot when compared with the Optical.

Good Job Tanmay. As you said, HDMI input is a must on soundbar if he is planning for a soundbar. Samsung Q950A has 2 hdmi input and one (eARC ./ARC /HDMI) out. As i mentioned before, Atmos can be experienced with this . But, it may not be same as a dedicated setup . Firestick 4K 2nd gen doesnt support dolby atmos even though mentioned. Either the firetv 4k Max or Latest Full HD version supports Atmos. Netflix having more contents with ATMOS ! Mougli, Animal or the latest 'Our great national Parks' narrated by Obama are few you can easily feel the atmos on Q950A.
You can connect JBL Bar via HDMI but it won’t give atmos. Better option is to connect firestick 4K max or apple tv to JBL bar input and then connect output port of JBL to Anker 👍🏻

Bose Soundbar 700 doesn’t support Atmos. And generally for Atmos enabled soundbars, it’s recommended to connect firestick to the bar and send only video output to projector.
Hi tanmay when i connect airtel set top box to Tv by hdmi cable and soundbar with optical cable dolby 5.1 ch surround comes in netflix app but the same set top box connected to projector instead of tv with the hdmi cable to projector and optical cable to soundbar 5.1 ch surround sound is not coming in netflix . The connection seems ok. Either the soundbar is compressing the video signal or your display isn’t supporting! Also, for once, check the pictute settings in the xtream box

You said to plug a Max 4K firestick directly into the soundbar, so how does the video get to the projector? Hey Paul, the Bose 900 Sounbar is similar to Sonos Arc with no HDMI Input & Output port. It has just got the eARC port which is ideally for eARC TV and Projector. With your current Projector setup, that’s difficult due to no eARC feature. The best device that you have to spend few bucks extra is HD Fury Arcana. That will take care of input, eARC to soundbar and video output to Projector

Hey Anand, connecting firestick 4k to Soundbar is always the best way to get the max audio quality that your soundbar supports. But in case of video, the projector is full hd so you will not receive 4k output anyways. When you have only one port of HDMI eARC in soundbar, then it’s difficult to get the best audio untill you have a projector with built-in android tv and eARC port

Thanks for the video. I’m getting ready to do a beginner set up with an optoma projector and Vizio soundbar with eARC and one HDMI in. I was thinking that I was going to have to get some kind of converter to convert the projectors hdmi to eARC. From what I understood from your video- I’ll plug my Apple TV into the HDMI input on the soundbar and the other eARC hdmi on the soundbar straight into the projector. Is that right? If I want to get some kind of HDMI switch to connect a Blu-ray player or computer, will that lower the audio quality at all?
The Apple Tv connection is right. Extra connections using HDMI switcher can work, but rightly said about lowering the quality. So better way to unplug the apple TV and plug in your other device as and when required to soundbar’s Hdmi port.

Hi, I have a mi smart projector 2 pro, which claim to support Dolby Surround. I have then bought a sound bar which also claim to support Dolby Atmos (creative Stage360). When i connect the out from the projector's HDMI ARC to the soundbar, the soundbar shows PCM input and not Dolby. I am not sure what setting to adjust..... Hope you can give some advice....😄😄😄
Go to sound settings in your projector and select bitstream or auto as the mode! Also, HDMI ARC will not give true Atmos its going to give compressed Atmos or Dolby Digital Plus audio output

You will get Dolby Atmos from the soundbar (provided the content is also in Atmos) and that’s possible as the soundbar is getting a direct signal to hdmi input port and only video is been sent to Projector 👍🏻
With the setup explained in the video, audio will definitely play but are you sure it will support Dolby Atmos? Searching online, I found the the chromecast doesn't decode the Atmos content, it just carries it and the TV/Projector in the setup is supposed to decode the Atmos content. Specifically, the soundbar is jbl bar 5.0 multibeam.
Hey Shubham, in our recent video we mentioned about how the entire chain needs to have Atmos compatibility. So in case of JBL 5.0 you won’t get Atmos output. And chromecast if not supporting Atmos then also not possible 👍🏻

Hey Anurag, you can use connect the media player like firestick directly to soundbar’s hdmi input and let the output be connected to Projector. This way, only video signal will be sent to projector and soundbar will take care of input atmos signal with relevant atmos compatible media player. Also, JBL Bar 9.1 is getting discontinued. Look at the new series from JBL, Bar 1000 and Bar 1300. Releasing video soon!

Hi Tanmay, Can you please advise- I do not have a 4k hdmi out in my 5.1ch home theater soundbar so there would be no point to have the hdmi video out to my projector through the soundbar as 4 k content would not be supported. I do not want to use bluetooth, optical cable or aux to connect the speakers to projector if i connect my firestick to the projector as it degrades the quality as compared to hdmi arc (Which i have on my sound bar but not on projector) is there any way i can connect my firestick to the sound bar using hdmi arc and projector using hdmi using some device (I am not that technically sound) Much Appreciated!

Hey Karthee, more the merrier and deeper! Atmos has primarily 3 rows - Top Front, Top Middle and Top Rear. But our recommendations are to first create 7ch 2D Surround with Side and Rear Surrounds and then jump from 2 Atmos to 4 Atmos channels. The reason being - Content will be more in 7ch surround formats than 4ch atmos formats.

In order to use certain apps which is not available on Samsung's Tizen OS I purchased a Roku Streaming device which when connected to the projector directly shows up but when I try to connect via the soundbar like what you have mentioned in this video, although shows up in the menu of connected devices, but does not display anything. Has it something to do with the HDMI cable, although I did try using different cables were of no use, similar is the case when i try to connect my laptop via the soundbar. Please throw some light. Hey Rajesh, Samsung Q950A has got 2 HDMI Inputs, Use either of them to connect a 4K Firestick Max and play any Atmos content from Netflix or Prime Video. You can use the HDMI Output for sharing the video on TV. USB are for service centers and not for video/audio playback.

How do i play the downloaded files as it doesnt support usb (as it is only for service). Playing on amazon fire tv etc was mentioned by me on the first comment it self. Hey, your projector has got only ARC with no compatibility for Atmos signal. So difficult to get Atmos output. The only way to achieve soundbar is - 1. Buy Firestick 4K Max & Atmos Soundbar 2. Connect Firestick to Soundbar’s HDMI Input 3. Connect Projector to Soundbar’s HDMI Output Cheers
You are able to experience Dolby Atmos through Bluetooth, but this is only possible if the content you are streaming is mixed for Dolby Atmos and the audio output device you are connected to is Atmos-enabled.

Check the audio settings of Airtel Set Top Box. The HDMI audio output settings must be in Stereo or PCM!

Thanks for the video. I’m getting ready to do a beginner set up with an optoma projector and Vizio soundbar with eARC and one HDMI in. I was thinking that I was going to have to get some kind of converter to convert the projectors hdmi to eARC.
From what I understood from your video- I’ll plug my Apple TV into the HDMI input on the soundbar and the other eARC hdmi on the soundbar straight into the projector. Is that right?
If I want to get some kind of HDMI switch to connect a Blu-ray player or computer, will that lower the audio quality at all?
The Apple Tv connection is right. Extra connections using HDMI switcher can work, but rightly said about lowering the quality. So better way to unplug the apple TV and plug in your other device as and when required to soundbar’s Hdmi port.
I am using PixPaq Neo bluetooth on Onkyo 5.1 hometheare that has bluetooth, so I can play 5.1 stereo. Only challenge I see is to connect single HDMI of project to both jiofiber setup box and onkyo at same time?

Hi, I have a mi smart projector 2 pro, which claim to support Dolby Surround. I have then bought a sound bar which also claim to support Dolby Atmos (creative Stage360). When i connect the out from the projector's HDMI ARC to the soundbar, the soundbar shows PCM input and not Dolby. I am not sure what setting to adjust..... Hope you can give some advice....😄😄😄
Go to sound settings in your projector and select bitstream or auto as the mode! Also, HDMI ARC will not give true Atmos its going to give compressed Atmos or Dolby Digital Plus audio output
Hi Tanmay, your videos are very informative and helpful. I have a formovie cinema 4k which has arc and I have a Samsung q950a which has earc. If I connect my NVIDIA SHIELD to soundbar's input and connect soundbar's out to projector's hdmi in. Will I get dolby atmos in Dolby truehd format or dolby digital plus format. Please help to clarify this doubt.
You will get Dolby Atmos from the soundbar (provided the content is also in Atmos) and that’s possible as the soundbar is getting a direct signal to hdmi input port and only video is been sent to Projector 👍🏻
With the setup explained in the video, audio will definitely play but are you sure it will support Dolby Atmos?
Searching online, I found the the chromecast doesn't decode the Atmos content, it just carries it and the TV/Projector in the setup is supposed to decode the Atmos content.
Specifically, the soundbar is jbl bar 5.0 multibeam.
Hey Shubham, in our recent video we mentioned about how the entire chain needs to have Atmos compatibility. So in case of JBL 5.0 you won’t get Atmos output. And chromecast if not supporting Atmos then also not possible 👍🏻

Hey Anurag, you can use connect the media player like firestick directly to soundbar’s hdmi input and let the output be connected to Projector. This way, only video signal will be sent to projector and soundbar will take care of input atmos signal with relevant atmos compatible media player.
Also, JBL Bar 9.1 is getting discontinued. Look at the new series from JBL, Bar 1000 and Bar 1300. Releasing video soon!

I am planning to do home theatre set up and these are the 2 devices which I am planning to buy Xgimi elfin with (1 HDMI ARC Support) and Samsung 990B sound bar 2 HDMI and 1 eARC with these setup can I get dolby atoms if so how? Please note I do have amazon Fire stick tv 4k max .
Just insert the stick to Soundbar’s input. And output of soundbar to projector

For atmos content you will get all the channels, but for regular content you will get 5.1
Hi Tanmay, Can you please advise- I do not have a 4k hdmi out in my 5.1ch home theater soundbar so there would be no point to have the hdmi video out to my projector through the soundbar as 4 k content would not be supported. I do not want to use bluetooth, optical cable or aux to connect the speakers to projector if i connect my firestick to the projector as it degrades the quality as compared to hdmi arc (Which i have on my sound bar but not on projector) is there any way i can connect my firestick to the sound bar using hdmi arc and projector using hdmi using some device (I am not that technically sound)

Hey Akshay, I think what you need is a device like Tono UHD 42 kind of device. Its 4 input and 2 output HDMI Switcher/Splitter with ARC, Optical outputs
Can I use an projector with android 9 and install magisk for atmos sound and connect it via nomal 2.0 hdmi (arc) to the atmos soundbar. would that give me atmos sound while watching netflix?

I heard, Atmos provided by 5.1.4 is way better than 5.1.2 because ... For egs,if plane is taking off and The sound travel like takeoff(front)-travel(atmos)-crash(back surround) compared to 5.1.4 where it has a another pair of Atmos speakers to have a little time to travel overhead 😛
Hey Karthee, more the merrier and deeper! Atmos has primarily 3 rows - Top Front, Top Middle and Top Rear. But our recommendations are to first create 7ch 2D Surround with Side and Rear Surrounds and then jump from 2 Atmos to 4 Atmos channels. The reason being - Content will be more in 7ch surround formats than 4ch atmos formats.

hi, Mr. Mehta, my name is Khayas Kasim and I have Samsung Freestyle Projector connected to Lg S75QR and both are Dolby Atmos capable devices. In order to use certain apps which is not available on Samsung's Tizen OS I purchased a Roku Streaming device which when connected to the projector directly shows up but when I try to connect via the soundbar like what you have mentioned in this video, although shows up in the menu of connected devices, but does not display anything. Has it something to do with the HDMI cable, although I did try using different cables were of no use, similar is the case when i try to connect my laptop via the soundbar. Please throw some light. Amazon firestick connects to soundbar hdmi input,soundbar connects to projector via hdmi arc.
Lovely explanation for Projecting the video in HD or 4k through sound bar or Avr to Projector.
Unless and until once soundbar or AVR should be Dolby Atmos Compatible.

So basically eARC to Projector for only video output. As Audio decoding of Dolby Atmos will be taken care of my AVR or Sound bar via HDMI In Port at first stage only.

3 Projector with Hdmi in either with 4k or Hd support
here planning for Wanabo T6 max as I want poratable type one which will give me max 1080 p which i am ok
4 Portable screen size up to 120 inch.
I hope this will work for my small dolby atmos / dolby digital plus / dolby digital experience on go
kindly confirm and suggest any enhancement in this.

Connecting the stick to Soundbar is better and taking the video output from Soundbar to projector.
I dont know whether this comes in your 'zone' . My samsung Q950A does not support USB. I have downloaded few ATMOS test videos from some sites. How do i play these ? Any inputs ? Kodi on firetv with usb connector ? Thanks
Hey Rajesh, Samsung Q950A has got 2 HDMI Inputs, Use either of them to connect a 4K Firestick Max and play any Atmos content from Netflix or Prime Video. You can use the HDMI Output for sharing the video on TV. USB are for service centers and not for video/audio playback.

How do i play the downloaded files as it doesnt support usb (as it is only for service). Playing on amazon fire tv etc was mentioned by me on the first comment it self. Hey Rajesh, try connecting the USB directly to your TV(USE ARC or eARC to get output from Soundbar) or laptop (USE HDMI to connect to Your Soundbar)

TW 6000? or TW 6600? If its 6600 which is the 2017 Last model, then 35k should be decent and for TW 6100 30k should be max

Hi Tanmay...Thanks for providing this detail review...As the recent models benq700, 700sti, 850sti have eARC so i guess inserting the firestick in hdmi 1 and inserting hdmi cable in eARC port and connecting the hdmi out in soundbar will help to get atmos effect.....pls confirm....also can you suggest best 4k hdmi AOC cables....thanks

No such thing as 4k hdmi ARC cables.Typical 4k hdmi will work fine.

Hey, your projector has got only ARC with no compatibility for Atmos signal. So difficult to get Atmos output. The only way to achieve soundbar is -
1. Buy Firestick 4K Max & Atmos Soundbar
2. Connect Firestick to Soundbar’s HDMI Input
3. Connect Projector to Soundbar’s HDMI Output

You are able to experience Dolby Atmos through Bluetooth, but this is only possible if the content you are streaming is mixed for Dolby Atmos and the audio output device you are connected to is Atmos-enabled.
