Good god, it's been over a decade since you posted these. I think this entire series still stands out as a seminal proto-LetsPlay/Commentary. While the editing and production values are primitive by today's standards, the content still holds up perfectly, due to a lack of pointless topical humor, excellent music choice, and genuinely interesting commentary (which, as text, doesn't suffer from "My microphone is shit" syndrome). This playthrough has aged very gracefully, and I still go back to it again and again. Cheers concordat, wherever you are! I hope you know that you made something great here.
thanks!
It still holds up 6 years later too.
@@JanusHoW You're god-damned right.
Those Motorized Stone Arms Must Be Hell On His Electricity Bill
LMAO :D
Amazing that you used Final Attack for the final level, and now 10 years later you can play as Terry Bogard in Smash, and have Final Attack playing on his stage with Star Fox characters present. It's amazing how it all comes around
never really thought about that, haha
One thing I really like about this level is the fact that your teammates never get chased. All the damage they take comes from the ridiculous amount of enemies in the level. It seems they've improved as pilots and as fighters. They also make a great team, splitting up into groups to deal as much damage to the enemy armada as possible. This is easily one of my favorite levels.
It's also one of my favorite levels too. It's a lot more fun on expert difficulty as well. Tons more enemies, the enemies fire faster and more efficient, plus shattered wings and more damage dealt with colliding. You have to be much more aggressive but also play smart at the same time.
I so like your sense of humour that I still watch this and laugh
Man this level is so intense it's actually challenging enough to make u lose a wing or two when playing on expert.
I finished this game at the age of 5...and I cried when I got to Andross because I was scared.
*goes back in time*
*punches self*
I laughed so goddamn hard at the music you put for the Andross fight. Excellent job.
Wow. The music at the start was PERFECT, man. It really gives you that "We're finishing this NOW!" feeling.
Actually, no. It gives you that....ermm...how'd you put it...
"WOOH YEAH LET'S ROCK THIS SHIT!" feeling.
Nice gameplay, smart commentary, and an excellent choice of background music.
So, it's 13 years later, but I just wanted to mention. Those rocks jutting out of the ground strongly resemble fingers. Given that Andross is an ape I think it's supposed to be based on Journey to the West where Sun Wukong is flying through the air and is stopped by the giant hand of the Buddha.
It has the best rendition of Final Attack in my opinion. It also has some of the best gameplay if you ask me, since they moved the Metal Slug self destruct to a dedicated button rather than a button combo of Fire and Jump, and there's a slide dodge. Unfortunately it seems to lack some of the charm of Metal Slug 3. Its final level is also no where near as amazing, but I had a lot of fun with it.
2:10 He tried those on Bolse and lo, look how that turned out for him.
they had a fatal flaw where they wouldn't fire unless you were looking at them
I got that from seeing it here.
(Also, very flattered my main inspiration for the humor style in my commentaries on anything about games I enjoy enough replied to me at all, kudos.)
LOLLL
I laughed so much when I heard the music you chose for Andross' fight
Lmao he boosted away to follow Falco. And that andross music had me in tears i love your SF vids.
I was lol'ing so hard at the Mario Paint music towards the end.
I have a feeling the Landmaster would have been a more appropriate vehicle for this. I mean... up till the part where you fight Andross. But I mean, you could send Slippy in and then leave him there and stay in orbit and wait for the results.
The Metal Slug music makes this level the greatest show of explosions ever.
I like your commentaries, they add a lot to what would otherwise have been quite a dull (albeit skillful and clear) recording of gameplay.
4:26 You just foreshadowed A Fox in Space.
it's a common mistake
@@concordat What I mean is that you predicted the future.
I had no idea you could blow those stupid energy traps up on the way into Andross's lair. It's been so long since I played this that I could never fly like that and do as well as you did probably lol. Good job bud and good uploads all around, funny as hell most of them lol.
Love the use of Metal Slug's final boss theme at the biggining of the stage
6:02 Fire Emblem 3H Main Theme of The Edge of Dawn and Awakening from Nintendo
nicely done again. I love the commentary, funny stuff
I started busting out laughing at 5:15 and couldn't stop for 5 minutes. lol It was the music! XD
I love ur commentary, its sarcastically hilarious lol
Very clever use of all the music!
Damn your vids are funny. Love the commentary. "Not the time or place Peppy."
"I know which way I'm not going."
LOL. Good job.
Awesome music, I would totally play Star Fox with such a soundtrack :D You're pretty good playing, too.
Love that Cave Story remix. Nice choice!
Your reaction at 5:18 is absolutely hilarious.
"...what"
Storywise, the Star Fox series suffered a similar kind of decay that the Sonic franchise went under: Trying to turn a rather shallow and simple thing into something serious and dark. This can work if done right (See The Dark Knight compared to the Adam West TV series) but I don't think video games will see this kind of development for a long while.
The Cave Story music was beyond perfect. I keep watching these videos to see what music you're going to use. Although this piano version I found might be better.
Mannnn, you were 2 away from 1337. Can't wait for Part 3!!! :D
1:58 Falco in the 3D version "Watch out!"
More appropriate line at least. I'm pretty sure "Here they come!" is just a reused line.
At least it's good to know that you haven't forgotten about it :P
That is NOWHERE near turbo, dude. With turbo, it's a solid bar of laser!
It depends on the player really. The potential is certainly there, due to the torpedo spamming glitch on Aquas and Zoness's sheer number of enemies.
I also forgot to mention that I like how your wingmen from 2:22-2:31 form up like that.
Missing the searchlights just sends you to Macbeth. Once there, shoot all 8 switches and then the switcher to send the train crashing into the fuel dump. Doing this gets you 51 points and lets you chose to go to Area 6 or Bolse. However, if you even miss one switch you have to go to Bolse.
i remember playing this game as a kid and i would always forget to save and always have to restart ahhahaha this game brings back so manny memories
Tbh LoLeLombardi, I don't blame you for being scared. I'm 17 and I still go out the room when the credits are running, if only I didn't have to do better on Bolse I wouldn't have to see it again...
Hilarious! Great job once again!
Meteo, Katina, Sector X, Macbeth, Area 6 is my most common route. It is also one of the highest scoring ones.
I usually don't think about what is my favorite game, but now that I think about it there are a handful that I've revisited years after I've beaten them and played many times over. Those being Mario World, Starfox 64, Kirby Super Star, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Ace Combat 04,5,Zero and God Hand.
I also put a lot of time into Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, but I've never destroyed them to the extent I have to SF64 and the rest. I'm just not very good at first person shooters I think.
OMG! 5:50! Ive been playing star fox for like 10 years and have never noticed that before!!!
The element of suprise. You would EXPECT to see turrets!!
I could have sworn I read elsewhere that Venom was a beutiful place untill Andross was banished there. Then he enslaves everyone there and trashes the place, just like he did on that planet with the searchlights.
I didn't even try to get good quality so I don't know, and this is being recorded with a capture card N64.
I loved these videos. Then I read SUCK ON MY MISSILE PUNCH. Now I love these videos a lot.
His body moves as fast as you do. So you can make his body suddenly accelerate or stop with a boost or loop.
if i were u, i woulda gunned down slippy a loong time ago...lol
GREAT VID! ive watched all of em, makes me laugh. Keep doing it, cant wait for more!
I know. I was just hoping to start up an 'Anger Management' reference...."I don't mean you people, I mean you people!"
i miss this game so much :'(
Here's something you might like to try, if you can get your hands on a 3DS, own one or borrow one, try out the 3D version of this game. It has level challenges that do the bronze, silver and gold rewards. The silver medal is the same as the required amount kills to get the medal on a regular playthrough and gold is a ridiculously high kill count. The real challenge is that every level you start out with a single laser and 3 bombs. Pretty fun stuff.
Dude, he's having fun with it. If you hate it so much, then not only shouldn't you comment, but take it elsewhere. He's got plenty other viewers who like his comments on here.
You have good taste in music.
I meant that he just never has any shortage flunkies. They probably robotic drones though, that or their piloted by a bunch of clones..
At 2:03, that's called Earthbending. Andross has some of them on the sidelines.
Ah, so much fun with this route. Lots of shit to blow up.
Heck, something I did once was, right before I entered the fight against Andross, I switched to first-person and situated myself right in the middle of Andross' face.
Then I saw what Fox must've seen: A pair of red, angry simian eyes MUCH bigger than his ship.
Do you think anyone's tried fighting Andross in first-person before?
I was surprised about the crap you had to think about...
...like the statues pulling up andross' electricity bil xD
Neither actually. The Arwing fires a burst of three shots and then charges if you just hold the A button. Firing this fast is just a matter of letting go and pressing the button again before it charges.
At the beginning of the game it says that he was exhiled to the "barren, deserted planet Venom"
Which implies it was always crappy.
hahahah love these films XD been watching all of them now, your comments makes me giggle like hell, was drinkin my cola when i read the comment ''you only said that cos you weren't there to see what a letdown he was'' and ended up spitting my cola over my computer cos i laughed XD hahahahaha
lol, I remember Andross scared the shit out of me when he just popped up like that the first time I played this. :P
i'll tell you guys what's a little weird here. whenever you split up with a wingman, they never take damage no matter how many enemies are attacking them. almost like they get to sit and relax while you and another wingman kill off the bastards, then come back when you're about to leave the split.
Great video!!!
i remember i used to be afraid of andross as a kid. now, hes a pushover
Slippy sure wasted his time with the boss's health bar. He was almost toast when it show up!
I never knew that you could destroy those beams in the tunnel.
If I remember correctly, those rocks that jut up from the surface are pulled up by the Gorgon defense system
This level is a nightmare on expert mode. It's enemies up your nose!
You don't need to shoot all the search lights you know. You can go from Macbeth to Area 6.
5:15 I lol'd so hard at how silly this boss fight was
@bioniclemastermandud yeah no shit
that's why there's two videos for each venom level
Am I going to have to add gigantic sarc marks on the "He was a robot all along!" line?
No, I would be shooting a lot faster if it was a turbo controller. I just didn't reply because I've explained how the Arwing fires a burst of 3 for each press I do repeatedly.
@concordat 5:34 I believe the proper term for those lights are "Fuck-me-lights".
When the boss appears on Macbeth there are switches you can shoot. I'm sure you can find a video of it.
lol hilarious commentary thumbs up man
I bet that Peppy Thought if Leaving Fox behind the same way he did James!
i think Falco's path changes if you have at least 100 kills by the time you reach the split routes. one way might look like the way Slippy would choose if you do.
nooo i mean at the end credits when he appears and starts laughin
Its the highest upgrade level you can get in SF64. Its Single laser, then Double, and then Hyper(Which is double, only hella stronger)
i know exactly what you mean after the credits. the first time i heard andross laugh scared the shit outta me
Doesn't matter, its incredibly easy to get it on Venom II
The first boss falls and starts dragging his body , for a K-A game this was pretty hardcore, lol.
yeah I know, I was just saying I really didn't care or mind about him not liking it. Same as how I don't really care or mind about you telling him off.
@CharlieCheats I can understand that, but if there were no captions I would have been commenting on the playthrough.
In any case this was made before I knew how to properly edit videos so you're going to have to deal with hard subs instead of soft subs.
@concordat Hmm, thanks for the info. I didn't know about that. I'll check that on your channel later.
Fox would have totally blacked out on the way out.
Looking forward to your snide remarks for the next part
I first watched this before I played it myself, so I thought the music in this video was in the game.
Wasn't really the point of these videos. They started off after a friend of mine asked me how I got such high scores, since he can barely get above 1000. So I made the first two videos basically just to show him how I did stuff.
I probably should add Let's Play in the tags though.
@Omnikron228 That game hasn't aged as well as you might think. Like who's decision was it to have the owl's "Would you like me to repeat that again?" default to yes? Fucking hell.
I think Majora's Mask was a better game myself. Even if they did reuse a ton of assets they managed to make a game that felt distinctly different.
It is possible, in fact if I didn't use the boost as much as I did and placed a few bombs better I would have gotten it.
ha ha ha!
"this brings back memories of your dad"
"not the time or place peppy"
Kinda wish these weren't so close to ending :P. But I can't wait for the Area 6 video XP.
the running stone man humped the floor before he died
@idshanks a lot of the complaints about 13 could be leveled on 10, specifically the "walk down a hallway" gameplay. Ten actually had a battle system, but infinitely more horrible character designs, so it's kind of a wash.
I'm really sorry about this, but I'm at a weird point in my life right now. Basically after years of procrastinating I'm actually being productive in school work.
Its quite a marvelous feeling, let me tell you. Anyway I will try for sometime next week, preferably Sunday but I'm not making any promises. College takes priority.
Yea. If you go through the different planets instead you'll just vs. those rival jets instead of playing the whole level.
