Her technique may not be clean but it is correct. Obviously she hasn't done intensive ballet but clearly she has a background in ballet and that's fine. She's surprisingly strong on pointes and her posture is correct as well.

Literally it says in biography's she did ballet when she was younger for YEARS and then stopped to focus wholly on her acting. She took it up again for a small while when she was voice acting for ballerina because she missed. Elle has a very basic knowledge to ballet. She is not a professional but no one can go on point unless they've had training before. Believe me I tried to go on point before when I had no training and nearly broke my ankle.

Sadly, people without enough proper training go on pointe all the time. Some schools put dancers as young as FIVE on pointe. There are tons of videos on UA-cam of schools proudly proclaiming the very young ages of kids they put on point.
"Long neck", "someone pulling your bun up" it sounds like something my ballet teacher would say lol
Reading all these comments are really discouraging. This is only my second year of focusing on ballet, and seeing all these negative comments make me mad. They are not constructive or tough love, they are just plain rude. I'm not even on pointe, but I know enough to say that her piques are fine, she's not a professional and that's ok. In conclusion, I'd rather be in a toxic Fandom than interact with other ballerinas.
Oh no, she's doing it in a way that is harmful. But the big thing is that she's presenting herself as being a dancer in this video when she's not. The ballet world is pretty tired of people tying on pointe shoes and thinking that makes them authoritative dancers.

@@danielasilva5945 Someone who isn't properly trained has no business trying to teach people how to do something that requires actual training. By "teaching" it, she's holding herself out to be someone who is trained. Someone who isn't shouldn't be putting herself in the position of teacher. In the real world, we don't expect people to disclose training when they do something that ordinarily requires proper training. But she has taken six years of classes, and so she should know better than to be an amateur claiming to be able to teach. MY DAUGHTER has as many years, and she knows enough to know that there is still a LOT more training to do before claiming to be able to teach it.
Do you know what's got me pissed? People without full training trying to make people think they've got training. The Vanity Faire series of these videos absolutely has presented these "teachers" as professionals and people with training. It's dangerous and stupid, and, frankly, so are the people who are defending them despite being told the reality.
I need to stop commenting on youtube videos because my comments keep coming back to haunt me. My attitude towards ballet has changed so much lol.

this is the first one of these secret talents I've seen that actually looked like a talent. Most of the others have just been silly or entertaining but I'm enjoying the series.
I do ballet and I dont find this offensive. its called SECRET TALENTS and this is Hers so y'all need to chil
I am a ballet dancer myself, and seeing her do this really doesn't bother me. Obviously she is not of a professional grade, but she does seem to have some training and a respect for ballet. What is annoying is the fact that "making a ballet turn" (ugh) is put in the same category as Dakota Johnson shoving things in her tooth gap and Emma Stone hopping on a pogo stick. Ballet is a high art that requires so much sacrifice, and so few people in this country understand that, so when they see a video like this, that will be their image of a ballet dancer. Not a big deal, just irksome

You have no idea what goes into a 'turn' in ballet and perhaps if you did you'd appreciate it more and understand that ballet isn't twirling around in a pretty dress.

It’s seriously annoys me how many trained ballet dancer get so butt hurt. She’s been acting since she was a toddler and obviously ballet was just a hobby to her. She never said she was the best or trained for hours a week for so many years. She is just showing that SHE can do a turn and some tips she learned. Not how to properly do one. Have a snickers bar, chill the heck out, and go on about your day.
The video claims to be teaching viewers. That implies having enough training to actually know it well enough to teach, which she doesn't.

I’m not surprised about this, she is so elegant and stylish, it was almost obvious that she did ballet ❤️🩰
If you want to get technical:
1) It could just be her dancing but she does look uncomfortable in her shoes
2) She's hopping onto point when she begins her turns
3) She slips off the box when she hits point (probably a bit weak and hasn't danced in a while)
4) Looks a bit stiff in the arms, neck upper body ect
5) Her retire is WAAAAAY to slow! As soon as she half gets up there the turn is over
6) Her arms are WAAAAAY too horizontal, they need to be softened and lowered a bit
As for her 'teaching' it's not supposed to be teaching it's supposed to be a bit of fun and for the record the first time I taught in front of a camera and audience my terminology, dancing and brain went to shit, it's nerve wracking!

And no one cares. If people want to learn ballet they will go get lessons and go to dance school. she knows how to turn tho, there's rehearsals of Black Swan. The dance double did the difficult parts and she did what she knew how to do from her non-professional experience.
