Am glad Dakota transitioned so well from a child to adult actor. And there's no bad news we have heard about her throughout the years unlike other child actors growing up in the industry. No news about drug or alcohol use, no rebel teen years, no diva attitude, no sex tape, no sexy naked roles, no controversial lovelife. When we think Dakota Fanning now in her 30s, we think about her acting work because there is no other controversy in her life to detract from that. I dare say a good chunk of how well she has turned out into adulthood can be credited to her parents. Well done Dakota!! Congrats on all your success and Happy Birthday!!

I remember seeing "Man on Fire" in the theater. She was 9 years old when that was filmed. Her performance at the end... it was the first time I teared up watching a movie.

It’s nice to see a child actress (and a really talented one at that) who has still remained relatively normal, grounded, and down to earth and well adjusted, at least compared to other child actresses.
She I think is definitely up there with Drew Barrymore as one of the great child actresses of all time (I mean even now she’s amazing as an actress), and hell I would even say that she was THE modern equivalent of Drew Barrymore in the 2000’s.
Also the fact that she is now 30 (Jesus) is crazy. I watched the Rufus Wainwright “Across The Universe” music video (which she was in) and to think that now she is around the age that Rufus was at the time that the video was made is crazy.

Growing up, people would always make fun of my name because of Dakota Fanning, so I went by Cody most my life until I started to embrace Dakota more. Now to find out that Dakota Fanning's nickname was also Cody is mindblowing to me... and I just turned 31! Such a weird parallel
I have always been a fan of the Fanning Sister's. They seem so sweet and humble. Remind me a lot the Olsen Twins in that respect. Beautiful and TALENTED young women.
So we have Elle Fanning (25) and Dakota (30) and in between we have Chloë Grace Moretz (27). The most talented trio of young female actresses and Dakota was in EVERY movie where a little girl was needed. Acted with Tom Cruise, Robert DeNiro and Denzel Washington before she turned 11! All these amazing WOMEN have transitioned better from child actors to "adult actors" as oppose to their male counterparts. (Fred Savage, Lukas Haas, Macaulay Culkin ... Haley Joel Osment!). Good to see Henry Thomas (E.T.) in Legends of the Fall and the Netflix show The Fall of the House of Usher though.
Believe it or not, I first discovered Dakota Fanning in her younger roles (e.g. "The Cat in the Hat", "Trapped", "Coraline", "Man on Fire", "Hide and Seek", "War of the Worlds"), and she is an exceptional child actor. And as she is growing to a more mature age, she has never lost her ability, like her roles in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", "The Runaways", "Please Stand By" and among others. I also can't wait for her new film "The Watchers" to come out in theaters. Kudos to Ms. Dakota Fanning!👏🏻✨💯

First time I remember Dakota was with "War of the Worlds" (2005) - I was very moved by her performance then. I've been following on and off. My real life obligations caught up to me and sadly I put all that on ice for a long time. But then I watched "The Alienist" and it all came back to me and it was glorious. The little girl I had so admired now was a full grown woman and was teaching stuff about life! And was so stoic and strong about her growing up - Dakota's performance put that through me...
In retrospect, I feel like I finally come to a point where I truly don't care how beautiful these girls look like - the true beauty is in their capabilities to act, that's the magic. They bring characters to life. Cheers.

When Dakota and Elle were younger, they were two very individual actresses to me. But then Dakota took her break and I saw Elle in everything (re-binging The Great right now) and now that they're both adult women, they share so many of the same mannerisms and I can hear them in each other's voices. Of course, they're sisters, but it's interesting to see.
