Oh my goodness, these ideas are so great. And I have so many old vintage patterns like you, but I just cannot bring myself to cut them up or tear them or sew on them or anything. I guess I’m just going to hoard them forever!
I'm the same with old magazines from mcalls - the crafting ones - just started cutting up one from 1960 today - it was awesome!!!i took pictures of things I thought I'd want to keep and then just went for it !
I just got into junk journaling and have fell hard. I had to stop this video and go to my garage and pull down a large tote of old patterns. I am a sewer, have a lot of trim, ribbon, etc, so I am now going back to watch all your videos and will be up late creating. It was fun playing dolls with you.
I have enjoyed your video so much. I am new to crafting and I love journals. I have several of my mothers' sewing patterns. She made her own dresses plus dresses for my sister and me. My pastor's wife make handmade Christmas Stockings so I am going to make a Vintage Sewing Patter n Journal for her. Thank you so very much.
Thank you so much for joining me. The sewing journal will be perfect for your pastors wife. My Grandma and mom made so many of my clothes when I was little and together Mo (my grandma) and I designed many one of a kind gowns for all my formals. Some of the best memories!
Thanks for all the ideas. Starting a journal and going to copy the covers of the patterns instead of using the originals as the patterns inside are still good.
The lady on the belly band is named Rosie Browne. LOL 😆 New viewer here and subscribing because I enjoyed watching your process and I appreciate your style and ideas.
New subscriber, great idea! I have inherited some older patterns from the '70s and was using money of them for decoupage since there are a lot of like extra pieces that weren't part of the actual design, but this is a great idea. Thanks for sharing new subscriber
I’m so glad you are here. Decoupage is a great use for them. I had one person buy patterns from me and used as wallpaper! I’d love to see it would t you?
I love all your creative ideas. I see sewing pattern journals and ephemera in my future. I have all my Mom's patterns and would love to re-purpose them! Thanks so much!
This was a wonderful, creative, and great idea. I loved this video so much! Thank you for sharing this with us. My gosh, this was such a great set of ideas!!!!!
Love all your great ideas and inspiration love old patterns and sewing things I agree with you about pricing on top of something thank you for sharing your ideas Theola 😊
Hi Angela. New subbie. So happy your channel popped in my feed. If you have any of the julie nutting doll stamps, you can always stamp body parts from them. That's what I do. 🌞🌞🌞
Hello Angela, omg I am so in love with this video. I also use old sewing patterns and I love your ideals. How dang fun. I adore everything you have done here. I know this video is a few months old but I just had to comment. So inspiring, TFS and have a blessed and crafty week. Hugs from VA.
New subbie here. Thank you. I was looking for something to do with old sewing patterns. Every time I've gone to our local thrift store lately, I've bought a few old sewing patterns, just because they seemed so interesting! I've got about 20 or so now, and will buy more now I've finally begun to look into how to use them. This was a great video for me, as some of them are in a bit of a state. Thanks so much for sharing this. I hope you have, or will make, more on how to use these lovely old patterns?
Thanks for joining me. I’m so glad your here. Sewing patterns are on of my favorites. I’ll be doing more soon in my #sewingnotionsunday collaboration. I hope you enjoy them!
Hi there! And welcome❤️Have you used your paper dolls in projects? I have some tucked away but I have t brave enough to use them yet, they are just so sweet.
Wow. I love this project. My mumma always sewed our clothes growing up . She’s been having a clear out and I’ve asked her not to toss her patterns. I’ll be utilising them into journals when I get my hands on them.tfs 💜💜🇦🇺🇦🇺
I just found you. Your idea is really nice. I have patterns from the 60s just sitting in storage taking up space. Happy to have something to do with them. I may have seen these once before, but don't know for sure. I'd name her Pearl cause she's prescious!! When using ruffled lace, you start from the bottom so that each tier shows.
Omg !!! Your sewing Tim Holtz themed stamps are absolutely beautiful. Imma need to go out and find me a bundle of sewing patterns one day to make some cuties . I love the sewing pattern gals on the cover of em . So pretty ! And yes , those darn thrift shop stickers or pricing they put on there with markers 😖💀 . Grrrr. Tfs !!! Hugs even tho we have no arms or legs in this video 😂🤭
I am an official “volunteer” at a thrift shop I’ve yet to officially volunteer at. But my first bit of constructive feedback. Is think before ya stick. So many original stickers from vintage items I’ve got are destroyed because of those. And everyone knows original manufacturers labels increase the price. Hugs girly!
Isn't it funny how ppl would want it new!! But when we get it we rip it and distress it.. lol id personally love to buy it already naturally distressed !!! Thats just meee. But anyway absolutely 💯 beautiful
Adorable 🥰. For the skirt I would start at the bottom and add layers on top for the layering look. I’m working on a similar style journal and appreciate your time and talent. Hugs 🤗 Dee
I've used featherweight iron-on interfacing to 'beef up' really loved pieces. Just lay it down with the back on the adhesive side. Hand flatten, lay pressing cloth down and start pressing with iron as the manufacturer says. I generally just attach the center, let cool, then roughly cut the i terfacing closer to the paper. Then press from center out on all 4 edges. When done, and cooled, cut to paper edge.
I did not read all of the comments, but a potential way to remove the price sticker is to put it in the freezer over night and Siri if it might just pop off in the morning. Good ideas.💜
Oh what fun😄😍 and totaly different way to use sewing paper😍👏 Two questions 1.do you use glue to fasten the sewing paper to the filefilder and then sew around it? 2. The green lace that you made her skirt from, were did you get it? It is gorgeous 😍😍😍 Lots of love from arctic Norrway 🙌🌻🌺🌼🌹🏵
Hello Lena! I use a glue stick to adhere the tissue to the file folder. The lace was from a thrift shop and there wasn’t much but I do love it!! Thanks for hanging out with me and cheers from Iowa. I hope you are staying warm!!!
I'm so excited to see this! First, new friend and subbie for Thrifty Thursday and your thumbnail jumped out at me - I inherited my moms old sewing McCalls patterns! Love this so much! You are so creative and talented - just so inspiring! TFS!
Welcome Kelly! I’m so glad to meet you and I jumped over and subscribed to your channel. I can’t wait to explore your channel. Thank for your kind words and I can’t wait to see what you create with your moms patterns!!
If I am gluing fabric to paper or fabric I use Fabri-Tac. If I want a quick hold I use Art Glitter Glue and for glue sticks I love Scotch Create but I think it is now called “permanent glue stick” I hope that helps.
I just found you...have tons of patterns and now can't wait to get started 'ephemera'(ing) thank you
That lady on the couch is lovely! Great job.
I just found you. I LOVE what you've done with the amputated ladies. I'm yelling at the screen "throw a blanket over her shoulder!" 🤣 Or a shawl.
This was very informative and interesting. I even recognized some patterns!! Thank you.
Thank you for all the Fun ideas you shared!!!👏👏👍
Absolutely stunning thanks for the tutorial and Happy Crafting x

All very cute ideas!! Especially ways to use the "less pretty" parts inside the sewing patterns :)
Haha yes! I just received some happy mail with tiny flowers made from the tissue. I’ve got to learn how she did them. They were adorable.
Sooo cute 🥰 Love all of them😍

Can I also just say I love saying your UA-cam handle😂 What a catchy name.
It’s actually my name! I married a man who made my name rhyme!😁
I LOOOVE IT!
Would clear contact paper be a good idea to protect the covers? Or does that yellow? I wish I could find some of these. I love them.
I think you could use contact paper! Good idea
Start at the bottom and go up to waist to keep the edges of trim fluffy.
Nest time you make a skirt you need to start from the bottom or pull the lace out when you finish.
Thank you Judy!
But I was trying my best to tell you to tuck the end of the long pillow under the square one. More realistic I think ....
Ruby 🎉
The sewing machine stamp is the missing image
I Love this idea! But she looks more like a Jade. 😅
Can this be done without a sewing machine?
It sure can. Just use a good glue! I hope you are having a great weekend Beki
Maybe laminating the cover
What's the red pattern please?
I will have to check. It’s a brand I’ve never seen before. Thanks for watching Beki!
