I used to make paperdolls out of images in Sears, JC Penny and other catalogs. The would be glued to heavy cardboard for sturdiness. Then I would make some clothes out of scrap material. So my paperdolls had both paper and cloth clothes. Parts of the catalog made pieces for the home.

However, I am going to see if I can find images from old catalogues online... Thank you for the fabulous idea!

Thank you for sharing that tip! It's amazing how you can grab your make up and use it to create just the right look on paper!
Yee haw, now you're talking. I glue feathers in their hats, tiny jewels, and my secret weapon, 3-D tee shirt paints !. Bits of fur become a muff, etc.
She is beautiful
Thanks for sharing
Awww Thank you so much for watching! Are you going to make one???
@@KitchenCounterCrafts yes I am just before making a wedding junk journal and hope I can make these to add to journal
1st time for wedding junk journal and trying to figure out what’s 1st step
Wish me luck
@@nildastricklin8805 OH!!! That would be so beautiful! A little lace, tulle, small pearl beads and even a photo of the couple?
So fun. I used to draw my own paper dolls when I was youngs and draw and corn clothes. Have always loved paper dolls. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for watching Kristi! I am so curious... what was your process? Did you draw them on cardstock? Did you use fabric or just paper for their clothes?
This looks like SO much fun! Can't wait to try it.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment. Just a warning - these are so addictive! Start with magazines and books and then you can move to family photos and make paper dolls for your loved ones! :) Great for Scrapbooking!
Will you let me know how they go?
I also have 2 more videos on how to use rubber stamps to make some!
I love this!!! Thank you!! I remeber paper dolls! Thank you so much for a great idea!!! 💗
awww thank you so much for your sweet comment and I am so thrilled that I helped to bring some nostalgia! :) I have 2 more paper dolls videos -- both with some easy ideas on how to make them just for fun (I make them for myself to unplug and relax). I hope you will let me know what you think of them!
@@KitchenCounterCrafts OK, I'll look for them !.
@@donnajohnson3334 Thank you so much!!!💖💖
I’m 72 and I have two sisters older and we played with paper dolls all the time.
Keep playing! I have another video on paper dolls coming up soon! It's pretty relaxing to make them and they turn out so pretty with fabric or even cupcake liners!
It's a really nice idea , you could even put her in a picture frame .
Thank you so much for watching! I made her for a junk journal gift… but I kept her. Is that wrong 🥹???
I played with paper dolls, so cute
Thank you for watching! Do you think you might try to make one??? 😍 I have been making some origami paper dresses lately! So cute
I played with paper dolls, both store bought and and we used the Sears catalog to make them.
I love that! Catalogs were my favorite but I made some from comic books too- Archie comics were my favorite 🤩
Thank you so much for sharing and for watching 💗
Love this.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment, Jennifer!
I loved my paper dolls they were all movie stars
😂 lol! That’s so cute! Do you still have them?
Great now I want to make a journal of paper dolls now! 😩😍😒 lol I subscribe to like 6-8mag and some are fashion one and have some great bodies in them so now I have cause I love this!!
YES!!!!!! YAAY!!! Do it and please share with me on instagram or FB when you make them! You will have so much fun, especially when you have a great selection of magazines. A Subscriber made 2 dolls that were SO ADORABLE and she put fabric clothes on them! Love the creativity!😍😍💗💗
I loved this, and l also plaged with them as a child. I would cut out ladies from catalogues and glue dresses, hats, shoes and bags on them. The glue was flour and water. Hello from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
How sweet of you to watch this video and to share your memories with me! Do you have any of your dolls still? I used to have so many paper dolls - beautiful ones from books and magazines but they are all gone! If you have a moment, check out this website from Princeton University that features a paper doll box from France from 1852! I found myself wondering... how did they preserve this???
So... my big question to you - will you try to make one? I hope you do! :) Time to live out the slow days from your childhood again!
Here's the Princeton Website: blogs.princeton.edu/cotsen/2020/04/make-your-paper-dolls-parisian-easter-bonnets/
That is great! Would love to see the finish paper doll. Thank you for sharing. I loved playing with paper dolls.
Thank you for your sweet comment, Norma! I am actually working on another video on how to make paper dolls - not the baby ones but like the old fashioned ones! I will post soon and have the finished ones in that as well! 😍 I'm so excited to share!!!

I watched this video last nite & ordered The Gilded Age book! : )

@@Paperlover123 I looked for you on IG! Would you tag me so I can find ya?
I'm so excited to see!!!!
@@KitchenCounterCrafts done
@@Paperlover123 Okay!!! Those were SO stinkin' cute!!!! How long did it take you to make the paper dolls? Are their clothes fabric or paper? I can't quite tell on the pics!
I am not sure why this came up as a recommended video for me when it's a year old so you may not see this but I just wanted to say that what I was a child and I'm much older than you are we didn't even have magazines but we would twice a year get a Sears and catalog and I would tear out some pages to make my dogs I would often cut arms legs heads whatever I needed from other pictures to piece together it took a lot of time but I always had more time than I did pictures this was quite enjoyable thank you
Awwww... Barbara! Your comment touched my heart! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and to share how you used to do this. I grew up in Pakistan and we had limited things to play with - creativity is so much greater that way! I love the idea of making dogs - maybe that can be my next video? I made another one recently on paper dolls from stamps. I hope you will check that one out. Also, let me know if you have ideas for videos you'd like to see! 😍
I found your channel today. Your works looks so cute and just so kind I like. Im going to try these. My late dad used to bring me paperdolls when he came from travels or we go to buy them from book shops together. They were quite sheap 55 year ago.❤ I miss my dad
Oh, your message brought tears to my eyes 🥲 what a precious memory of your father’s love for you! I think we are caught up in the video games and iPhones for kids. Give me a magazine and a cup of tea and I’m happy all afternoon! My daughter and I work together at the kitchen table and draw, paint, color. She’s in high school! It’s lovely to slow down and play!
I hope I get to have granddaughter to do this with one day 😍
For now, I’m content to do research on paper dolls and cut up tattered books 📚
Have you tried to make some? I have a couple more videos on easy ways to make them!😍 also, thank you so much for watching and sharing with me
I played with paper dolls 😊
Nancy, please tell me more! There’s such a beautiful nostalgia to this type of paper play. It’s simple and beautiful!
I get fashion coloring books and cut them out make them paper dolls. So much fun

Welcome to my channel, friend! How lovely to share your memories! I hope you will get the dolls out and look at them again - I cannot believe you still have them in boxes! I wish I had mine from when I was little, but we moved from Pakistan to other countries and then finally to the United States. I hope you will pass on the love to others!!!
Have you had a chance to see my other paper doll videos? I hope you will check them out and then spend a few moments with a cup of tea and your lovely dolls!!! 👭

Betty... you just made my day! :) I have another video that I just posted a few days ago with stamped dolls. I am making a doll army at the moment... it's an addiction
I used to play portfolios back in the 70's I also taught myself to trace and color New clothes for the dolls thought the same clothes got boring to me .lol I think teaching kids it's a great ideas being created its a good thing .
Thank you for sharing! How cool is that! :)
Wish I was creative to use odd things
That's so sweet! It made me laugh - it really is the oddest stuff that makes for interesting art. My friends are always asking me if I want their trash... 😆The funny thing is that I don't turn them down - you never know!
I made them just love paper dolls
Oh yaay! Would you please follow me on FB & share what yours look like? I would love to see them!!!
I love these. I would also use velcro adhesive dots to make her 3d and be able to make her removeable. Thank you for this awesome video!

@@KitchenCounterCrafts She would be pretty in a shadow box !.
@@donnajohnson3334 She is so very pretty!!! I put her in my "IDEAS" junk journal so I don't forget to tuck in a dolly or two in a journal - how fun would that be to receive??? Hey, guess what? I found out that you can use stamps to make these (which I already have on another video) BUT... you can stamp on fabric and make a fabric mini doll!!!! I hope you will play with these ideas and do something just for yourself. Are you thinking about picking this up as a hobby again???
Oh my goodness, how lovely. You have made my day with your beautiful paper dolls. I am so excited to try these. I have so many children’s books, some vintage. I have a first edition Little Women book which I will definitely use and an Alice in Wonderland one too. All the best to you from South Africa 🇿🇦💫 xx
