You are fortunate to have flat land and therefore smooth, straight winds. Our field has high ground plus trees on the (typically) upwind side which creates a lot of turbulence on the runway. It can be risky to fly in 10 mph winds because of the unpredictable nature of the wind. However, you tend to get really good at flying the plane all the way to the ground.
Strange thing happened to my 1.3m Valiant recently. Landed it OK, but as it came to a stop, the wind and sort of tall grass flipped it over on its top. As I was going to retrieve it, another gust caught it and flipped it back over on its wheels. I'd never seen that before! So what the heck, I gave it power and took off again.

Brilliant video, we need more of these to help move from beginner. It’s a lot easier to understand when we can watch and listen at the same time. Excellent stuff👍🏻

Let's see a flat tail spin. I'm trying to figure that one out for Mt Maule M7

Good flying in the winds! I try to fly every day but I avoid it if it's too windy but I guess I should go for it anyway like you do!

It has a difficult rating of about 8 out of 10. Knife Edge, wide open throttle, & inverted. Easy on the sim.

NICE VERY NICE CONTENT THINKING OF GETTING THIS PLANE JUST WANTED TO SEE HOW IT PREFORM,,LOOKS GOOD IN THE * WIND*

  • @thomasallan8113

for a light, not large plane, the Valiant handles the wind quite well. In high wind, I like to put down the flaps, point into to the wind, lower the throttle, raise the nose and try to hold position. Keep thumb off the rudder and let it wind vane. This is the only use I have for flaps on the Valiant. I find it easier to smoothly land without flaps.
BTW I have flown this plane a lot and I have seen no degradation of the foam hinges. Quite a plane.

Very good video GG 👍🏻. Ya got to know the basics to advance. I learned all the basics on the aeroscout. I'm now doing them on the mini Pitts which is a little tricky because is so darn snappy. Great video as always. Have a good day and happy flying.

Thanks Jack! Learning these with a trainer can be more difficult because these type of planes are designed to stay upright. 😀🛩💯

From one Grandpa to another, thank you for this instructional video. It really is most appreciated at least by me. I've only been flying a year and a half here in cold-ass NY. I hope one day to be able to move from beginner to intermediate with your help. I have my trusty Aeroscout 1.1.m and the Apprentice which I've only flown end of last year. Thanks Gramps, for all you do the community. 👍

Too everyone, these maneuvers are much easier when theres not a 20mph wind! 😁🤷 (But not near as much FUN! 🤪)

I'm no expert! But a heavy battery seems to do better in high winds for me. I use 2800mah and 3200mah on valiant

The wind was crazy again! It seriously dropped and stuck. 😀🛩💯
