Location: ZuanYuan Chinese Restaurant, One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
The food here is halal and it's a buffet, yay. First of all, we did not try the various Pao because we want to maximize the food to try ;)
1. Crispy Salmon Skin, Score: 8/10
Crispy Salmon Skin with Salted Eggs & Curry Leaves, very aromatic and yummy.
2. Curry Fishballs, Score: 7/10
Normal fried Fishballs cooked in Curry sauce with Taufupok. Curry is aromatic and good for Curry Noodles.
3. Stir-fry Broccoli with Garlic, Score:7.5/10
Very tasty Broccoli, garlic used is fried Garlic, accentuates the garlicky flavour.
4. Braised Crab Meat & Dried Seafood Broth, Score: 7.5/10
Tasted like Shark's Fin broth, minus the guilt of killing sharks.
5. Braised Hot & Sour Seafood Broth, Score: 8/10
Tasted similar to the Crab Meat broth but with SiChuan's hot & sour flavour which gives us more appetite to try more food.
6. SiChuan Jellyfish, Score: 8/10
Very nice. Succulent Jellyfish with a hint of China's Mala flavour. Very appetizing. The additional Peanuts and Sesame and Coriander just add to the tastiness.
7. Har Gao (Shrimp Dumpling), Score: 7/10
The prawn inside is succulent and the skin is thin.
8. Steamed Chicken Feet & Eggplant with Spicy Sauce, Score: 7/10
Chicken Feet is prepared nicely, it's soft and taste is spicy and flavourful. The spicy sauce is compatible with Eggplant.
9. Roasted Chicken & Duck, Score: 5.5/10
The meat is a bit tough and the taste is lacking.
10. Steamed Teo Chew Siew Mai, Score: 5.5/10
Just doesn't taste like the original Teo Chew Siew Mai. The texture is harder and the taste is lacking.
11. Deep-fry Crispy Fishcake with Spring Onion, Score: 7.5/10
Very tasty like Cucur Udang. The Spring Onion adds flavour. Crispy on the sides and soft in the middle.
12. Congee with Chicken, Dried Oyster & Century Egg, Score: 6/10
The taste is a bit bland despite the many ingredients added inside. The taste of the Dried Oyster is quite strong and not much of the Century Egg taste.
13. Steamed Signature Siew Mai with Fish Roe, Score: 5.5/10
Same as the Teo Chew Siew Mai, the taste lacking and the texture is harder.
14. Chee Cheong Fun, Score: 7/10
Not bad Chee Cheong Fun. The sauce is just nice and the Shrimp inside is succulent. Best when eaten with the Shrimp Chili sauce provided.
15. Stir-fry Turnip Cake, Score: 8.5/10
Very yummy. Stir-fry with Dried Shrimp accentuates the flavour. Have enough "wok hei". Really enjoying this dish.
16. Glutinous Rice with Smoked Duck, Score: 6/10
Supposed to be Loh Mai Kai (Chicken), they have swapped it with Smoked Duck instead. Taste differs from Loh Mai Kai, cannot compare because it is a different dish. Not bad.
17. Poached Dumpling with SiChuan sauce, Score: 6/10
Normal poached Dumplings, with hot & sour sauce, poured on top. Not special.
18. Herbal Jelly with Honey, Score: 8/10
Very nice, cooling dessert. Tasted a bit like Sea Coconut.
19. Lemongrass Jelly with Aloe Vera, Score: 8/10
Very appetizing dessert reminds me of Ai Yu Bing from Taiwan.
20. Soya Bean with Snow Fungus, Score: 8/10
Not too sweet of a dessert, a very good combination with Snow Fungus.
Environment is nice. Hotel setting.
Service is good. Food is served very fast, one after another.
The price is on the high side.
Looking at the price, the quality of the food & service, it's definitely worth it if you are into halal food and want to try authentic DimSum.
Most foods are very nice except for the Siew Mai & Roasted Chicken/Duck.
Price-wise, it will be much cheaper to go to the outside non-halal DimSum or Roasted Chicken/Duck restaurants with much more tasty variety.
The best dish is the Stir-fry Turnip Cake without a doubt.
