PC-24 - INCREDIBLE Grass Landing at The Vale Airstrip in Tasmania
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 січ 2021
- The Vale Airstrip (YVAL) is a 4200 ft (1300 m) immaculate grass airstrip located in a river valley. There is higher terrain on all sides including both approaches. And it’s the perfect place to prove where the world’s first and only Super Versatile Jet can land: The PC-24 has been engineered to be “off-road” compatible from the beginning. Its outstanding short-field performance - even on unpaved runways - opens up an incredible level of mobility.
Just imagine: You’ve worked so hard for so long, and now it’s time for a well-deserved rest. Gather your family and friends together to enjoy a weekend. Carry all their belongings and just take off. With the PC-24’s speed and range, you’ll reach all your destinations in a breeze. Its incredibly slow approach speed and sophisticated braking/lift dump system reduce the landing distance to an absolute minimum, and keep every landing safe. The PC-24’s superior runway performance enables you to operate from thousands of airstrips that the competition can only fly over. That’s why we call the PC-24 a Super Versatile Jet: more runways, more space, more possibilities.

Short take-off, grass landing..... Pablo Escobar would've loved this plane
LMAO !!!! Well done!!!
And + cargo door is biggest in this class
The noise is quite a problem, though.
If it was invisible and travelled warp speed.. I'll take a fleet of them.. Lol..
Put the feytnol in the overheads and stack the pot in the isles
i love the “don’t try this with a jet of one of our competitors” at the end
Citation Mustangs can land on grass too. That is an inclined runway. easier to land uphill, then take off downhill. Former Bush Pilot..
@@CFITOMAHAWK2 the MTOW on the PC-24 is over double that of a mustang, not even close to "competitors". It is competing with the CJ4
When you really need to flex at the country club.
Land in a golf club.
That’s a damn good way to do it
„Don’t try this with a jet of one of our competitors!“ 😂
Cessna Citations use to have a nosewheel spin up modification back in the day It was to spin up the nosewheel prior to landing on gravel to prevent rocks kicking up into the emgines
@@smacmoyle Didnˋt knew that!
The "gravel kit". Not really worth it as the rocks still chip the paint away.
But you could have done the same thing in a CJ.
@@robertmcdonald6833 its more about not having possible foreign object ingestion rather than chipping paint
The disclaimer is so cool, 😎🛩
this also cracked me up
Its so cool that they think they are the best. There are o lot other jets who can do this tho, they are not the only ones.
@@larsmeijerink5471 you have to help me now, which other jet can and is rated for off-strip landing? i don´t know any other
@@BernhardEhm ever heard of the cituation mustang ?
@@larsmeijerink5471 oj ja, citation mustang, the one who only could accommodate 4 Passengers (instead of 10 in a PC24, co-pilot not included) and had a to-roll of more than 3100ft (where they lost about almost 900 airports you can fly to with a PC24) with a range of only 1100 nm and is not in production any more? yeah, Cessna tried once ... who else? (asks a Pilatus-Fan-Boy ;) :D)
It's not every day you get to see a jet landing and taking off from a grass strip. Awesome stuff!
If you rewatch the video every day you can
@@bderrick4944 no. you will only see a video everyday. @TheHDAviation is talking about a plane landing.
You know what humor is?@@timmartinez100
Pilatus's unique Super Versatile Jet, going where no other jet can take you; with comfort, confidence, and ease. Incredible demonstration!

The great piece of technology, love this jet. Bravo PILATUS
That jet is Lookin sharp, outstanding landing 🛩🛩🛬🛬
Pilates design and manufacture remarkable aircraft. A business jet that can land on grass is another, well considered, achievement .
Looks like the fly-in day on behalf of the RFDS. Having being into that airstrip, I know what the approach is like and the departure. Excellent stuff and a brilliant demonstration of the aircraft's capabilities.
Made in Switzerland, top quality !
A Extreme within the extremes themselves. Wow!!! Thank You!!!
You could land that thing on a sixpence', mad stuff.
If you could find one.
This feels like Flight Simulator.
WOOW! Was für ein schön bemalter Hunter! 😯

Now THAT is fantastic! Thanks!
WOW! Beauty jet and beauty performance! I love it!
Lovely setting for this demo flight, saw a swiss one at Goodwood's grass aerodrome a year or so back, very nice.
This will be my first jet. Perfect for rough terrain and short runways. PC-24 is the best.
Great video. I really love the slow flight and landing on the grass strip was pretty cool.
Thats great. I remember doing the preliminary analysis a couple of years back when the enquiry about this location first came in. I'm glad it finally happened.
The perfect jet for my island home... “Australia” that’s why the RFDS has invested into these beautiful aircraft.
in your area, you must be satisfied with the KingAirs for the time being. or is the RFDS in the east also planning to acquire PC-24s? RFDS QLD and SE currently operate only KingAirs or at most old Cessnas for passenger transport and other occasional flights.
@@beatrueegg2722, the PC-12s are more used by the RFDS because it's easier to load stretchered patients through their standard cargo door, and The PC-24 was designed with direct input from the RFDS and like the PC-12 is unique in having an integral airstair & standard cargo door for patients or a couple of your motorbikes if that's your fancy. Their rating for unprepared fields is unique among jets at this time and their short-field performance achieved without thrust reversers! The 34 PC-12s are the most numerous in their fleet.
www.flyingdoctor.org.au/about-the-rfds/our-fleet/
@@billhart9832 I know, PC-12 and PC-24 have almost identical cargo doors from the factory, with the KingAirs the RFDS had to enlarge the doors himself in the past and that's why they are made in two parts, since a few years you can order the KingAirs with cargo doors and then you don't have to do the conversion yourself anymore
the lift on the Pilatus aircraft should be more stable and faster than the cable lift arm on the KingAirs. but i'm not a technician who can calculate that. in the videos it just looks more stable on the Pilatus aircraft and the stretchers only move vertically, but on the KingAirs they also move sideways.
or do you think it's because I can get to Pilatus Aircraft in 15 minutes by car from my workplace?
They only have 3 P24’s the rest are turboprop.
@@gardnep on July 1, 2020, the fourth PC-24 VH-FZQ was registered for Central Operations, making four PC-24s in service with the RFDS since July. two more are still registered for other owners in Australia. According to the RFDS, Western Operations and Central Operations have 34 PC-12s in service. according to FlightAware VH-VWO, VH-KWO and VH-FMP are located at RFDS base Jandakot (Perth) and VH-FZQ at Adelaide base. who is now in the Perth area may be able to take a photo of 3 PC-24 on one photo and has for a long time a rare photo in his possession. most of the time, there is a PC-24 at Broome base ready for the next mission, and that means one will be leaving for Broome soon.
Beautiful plane, landing and take off. Looks like a perfect plan for the RFDS ops here in Australia. ❤️👍
They even offer it outfitted as a flying ambo!
Indeed. Would be difficult to debate otherwise. A reliable and versatile enough short field private utility light twin jet. Thanks for the demo :-)
Super cool. Love the sound track too. Well done guys
That’s amazing. Obviously low empty weight to do this but still an incredible feat.
Sorry to rain on Pilatus parade but the HS125 series business jets have been capable of this since 1965! I have flown the Hawker into many semi-prepared airstrips on grass, dirt, laterite and salt lake and some runways of 950m. The aircraft also performs well on hard packed snow. The PC24 is a great aeroplane but to me it is replicating what the Hawker has been capable of for years. The Hawker is still going STRONG and the PC24 is to me its natural successor. Blue skies.
Well said wallyepton6302 I’m a Hawker man an have been on gravel run ways in Alaska oil camps
Single pilot in the Hawker? No. PC24, yes. Citations also can do this.
Hugely impressive - thx for the video
That was awesome! What an impressive piece of work.
Tasmania looks beautiful, my older brother was born in Lanceston. Never been myself, it was my fathers favourite of all the places, all over the world. The Pilatus is very cool...
That is one beautiful aircraft!
Awesome. Watched a couple of pc12's leave adl today, but this is outstanding .
Great work! Congratulations!
Fabulous! Love it! There is NOTHING like it out there!
Boah Pilatus done that what a good jet needs ☺️👍👍👍
Loving the PC-24
I love goin backcountry camping in my Pilatus!
I love the warning at the end! :D
Well, despite the disclaimer at the end, I'm about to try this with the CJ4 on MSFS.
That was the coolest thing I have ever seen.
Awesome stuff....and a runway that's not only grass, but has a small hill in it.
Outstanding piece of engineering
Goes to show how redundant, tough, and well engineered the Pilatus PC-24 is.
Love that shade being thrown at the end haha
What a beauty!
Beautiful Jet. I saw it at the aero friesrichshafen
@Luis traveler, I have worked with Zeppelin in Friedrichshafen in 2006-7 and again 2017-18. Not on the airships though. Did you stop at the Dornier Museum near the terminal? Naturally the Zeppelin Museum on the waterfront of the beautiful Bodensee right next to the Ferry terminal that runs across the lake to Romanshorn on the Swiss side. I was never stopped when passing by the customs/immigration office before catching the 1hr. Train trip to Zürich airport. So easy and convenient. Also home to MTU engines, literally across the street from Zeppelin, and the famous ZF transmission Werks. I may have an opportunity to return to Friedrichshafen later this year, this time to MTU as we will be using their V-20 engines to power our compressor augmentation system for GTGs. Good times!
"HUMBLE BRAGGING "at its finest...The plane even looks like it had a smug grin on its face...Hahaha!!!!
WOW absolutely awesome!!
This is remarkable and I can imagine the caution at the end to be accurate. 🥰
Man, I just want go and start surfing..the music had me waxing my board.
Oh come on, don’t rt this this with your corporate jet. LOL. I flew a corporate BAC 1-11 years ago, and it would have gone in and out of there with no problem. Who am I trying to kid. Extend that strip by about another two miles or so, pave it, give me a good headwind and then we’ll talk.
Very impressive !!!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😂😂💯💯💯💯
I guess it could go on your list then!
I remember back in the 1960s Philippine Airlines Evaluated the BAC 111 on Lahug Airport Cebu , a 5,000 ft. Asphalt strip with no problems.
However an upscale neighborhood at the end of the runway howled in protest. They moved the airport to Mactan Airbase immediately ( US Airforce base during the Vietnam War. After the US withdrew, to this day Mactan International Airport is still around with its original 9,000 foot runway (resurface many times).
EISH - I'm impressed - looks like a lot of fun to pilot this aircraft
Looking very nice.
👍 super vidéo 👍👏❤️🇨🇭 vive pilatus 😍❤️😍

Incredible and Beautiful!
What a great looking aircraft!
I love this plane. We need to try this landing at my brother's ranch in west Texas.
If this ain’t some ballin cool shit I don’t know what is. 👍🏾
So beautiful.
Beautiful.
The tires and brakes are insane, and the aircraft does not even have thrust reversers
Ya'll just sold me!
Just like that... Super versatile is the word hey, brilliant machine this 👍🏻
Buttery landing.Great job.
The takeoff almost looks CG. Such a beautiful takeoff.
South American drogdealers like this demonstration ;)
Yes... but dealing 'drogs' can lead to deceit & falsehoods.
Impressed performance!
Wow, impressive on several levels! Plane, performance, micro bladed strip, groundskeepers, Fred the gofer wrangler! Hope the barkeep at the destination port can do the same!
Wow , I know the PC - 24 has amazing grass and rough strip capabilities, but did anyone notice how close the pilot got to the sudden steep gradient / ridge rise , on take-off ? Was awsome !
What would have happened if he did hid that with his landing gear?
He would add another landing to his/her logbook.@@TheGalonator
@@TheGalonator It's like a springboard, some aircraft carriers use that trick to compensate for the short strip... of course Vr is mandatory at this point, or else more power than weight.
The pilot is most likely just showing off by taking off before the rise!
I want one!!!!! (I am an ex STOL RAAF Caribou pilot, lots of landing on short strips that seemed too small for our big plane, so too the PC-24)
the PC-6 Porter would be the right choice for this purpose.
Kudis to the RAAF & CAF flying any of deHavilland’s remarkable aircraft. Whether the outback ir the Canadian Arctic they go places and do things no other planes can do. Viking, having bought the type certs is keeping the twin Otter alive and updated for the 21st century!
@@billhart9832 yes there are some aircraft that can take off and land on such runways, especially for military customers, but not many if the runway is so short. many need a longer one. i find the TwinOtter the most beautiful with the floats, especially they are almost the only ones in this size that can take off and land on water.
Caribou, one of the few planes that can be reverse parallel parked. I've heard a few RAAF stories of them landing on Pacific Islands and being reversed into a clearing by the closet pub.
@@raygale4198 indeed. Done a fair few 3 point 180s in the ‘bou. It’s funny when reversing because the flight engineer gets outside to clear the ground and to talk you through the reverse, but they also like to pull their audio chord as the plane backs up to them, it looks like they’re pulling the plane via their chord. Pretty funny to see. When we were at a village in PNG all the kids would laugh when they saw that.
Very beautiful images
Very impressive. It’s a beautiful aircraft.
The Perfect example of Pilatus Aircraft! ALL their aircraft can land on grass strips and worse! 👍
Now they need to make a pontoon version to get in and out of your favorite fishing spot.......
So it can land on a grass strip in Colombia. What's the payload capacity in kilos...asking for a friend ;)
Wow! What a jet. Talk about versatile
Super cool, rare and demanding. Short take off, nice landing, envy You :)
That disclaimer doe
Warning taken Pilatus, if I can ever afford a private jet I will make sure to get one of yours so I don’t hit a tree when landing in my friend’s backyard.
Man that is wicked!
That’s damn impressive!
Would have been a lot better without the music! That beautiful plane doesnt need it.
Australia. Where the ground is often like concrete.
This is really incredible!
Perfect for that special cargo that simply has to get to any location!
Never thought that a soft field takeoff procedure would ever be used in a jet! But that's what the pilot did... hilarious 😂
Bring back the Porter... Please Mr Pilatus
