They could, but won’t….ever. Honda as a company hates 2-strokes, always have. They will never make them again. Only started to make them in the 70’s to compete in Motocross. They were also the main ones pushing for their ban in both motocross and MotoGP in the 00’s. Soichiro Honda always hated them. Thinks they are dirty engines. As a company they oppose the technology, then and now. Only built them because they had to in order to compete in racing, not because easy/cheap to build. People need to wake up and realize Honda is against us 2t guys, they aren’t our friends. We need to start supporting the companies that do and always have supported and developed 2t’s. Yamaha got lazy and didn’t dev the bikes for 15 years, just kept producing what they had which is better than nothing. If not for the Euro bikes, 2t wouldn’t be making the come back it is. KTM basically saved them. For the record I’m not being a hater, I own a mint, low hours, 03 cr250 and Honda ATV. My next bike will be Euro though, hopefully a Beta 300rr.
@@seashackf1 Yes I'm aware of Soichiro Hondas viewpoints & he was a staunch advocate of 4 stokes, Honda designed some of the greatest 4t Road Race bikes under Soichiro like the RC166 6cyl 250cc that made 60hp @ 18,000 rpm - Even though Honda was famous for their 4 stroke technology, they built some dam fine 2T's such as NS500 V3 & NSR500 V4 GP Bikes & the CR MX range I was quite surprised when Yamaha a renowned 2t Company unveiled the YZ400f to the World - It effectively accelerated the Downfall of MX 2Ts racing along with California emissions laws! Maybe, if your that guy who can really ride a 500 2 stroke and hang it out on one. A good 450 can be close to 60 HP and has that 4 stroke powerband.................
Genuine question - are power valves considered bad? They make my yz125 a lot better for low end, and my yz80 really needed one when I was a young buck. The modern yz85 (2022+) pulls a lot harder because they added them, and even on freestyle stand up jetski engines, it’s a desirable feature for low end snap to jump up out of the water.
@@cbh148 My son had a cobra 65 with an electronic power valve that failed, cobra recommended replacing all of the electronics 1500$ worth of parts for a bike I only paid 1200$ for. My boy only got to practice once on that bike. He was smoking brand new cobras and KTMs with his old 03 RM65 and a carb I took off of his CR80. The power valve helps less experienced riders handle the power band. You don't need low end torque when you stay in the power band.

This is SO frikken cool! I sorta wonder about the FI? Gabe said it would be fuel injected, the intake manifold looks like its for a carb. At the 2 stroke nationals in 125's anyway, they go with a carb. Simply due to more HP. I like carbs, if I bought another 300 I would get the latest version with a carb. A carbed 300 KTM has tended to make about 5 more HP than the various FI schemes KTM has tried. Simpler, cheaper to tune by far, works great, jetting is easy with half a brain...................the price on this CNC'd engine is a shocker for sure, but no one else is doing this. The go-cart guys will go nuts with this, money is no object for dirt carts, for some.
It would be great to hear it rip, but your right the thing is a work of art. Almost (( almost )) a shame to get it dirty . Ahh what the hell let'ter fly 😄😄👍👍
Love the idea, would be a dream quad. I remember Service Honda used to offer a CR500 motor in either of those chassis. This motor is designed to be plug and play with a current bike so it might not fit a TRX450 without major fab work since the TRX is based on a motor that’s now several generations old. The 400ex would be even more work since that a completely different air cooled motor. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll see many.
I guarantee the porting on this is better then an original cr500 engine.. oem stock engines didn't have great porting, there is room for improvement. Not sure what your saying about 2 destroyed engines tho.
