There was a video NetN did about alien interigation officers training the new guy and saying not to bother screening the human since a human is never unarmed. "If they can touch something it is a weapon... even the floor."
I always liked the idea of some kind of regenerative shield tech that converts the damage to energy to power the shield itself. Like the more "Damage it takes" the "Stronger the shield gets"
You might be interested in "A Mote in God's Eye" by Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven. There's tech very similar to that and a lot of other cool stuff in those books.
Agreed. Usually I dislike "Humans have OP tech that beats all the long existing civs" but this one was well executed. Went purely into defensive and explorative technology, still found a way to weaponize it that wasnt just "anti matter nukes" or "Omg what the heck are kinetic wrapons"
The xenos really should have seen the writing on the wall when the Well of Tears happened. Absolute matter compression alone would have been sufficient in human hands, the tractorbeam-sun jump was just OP teabagging at that point.
If you are casually talking about energies like a quoter of Galactic output like we are talking about Megawatts and harvest this energy from universes embryos (that's basically a vacuum energy concentrate), there is literally no other option than peace. Those humans most probably could easily create an artificial big bang and destroy everything within the particles horizon or maybe even beyond so we don't fully understand cosmological inflation.
Humans aren't known to be peaceful. We're, ultimately, known to be Peacekeepers. Violence is a necessity in a universe where everything is actively hostile against one another, but we inevitably seek peace and tranquility. Therefore, we build the strength to protect what peace we've earned.
Yeah! But I'm using a tablet, so I use my fingers to adjust the size of the text blocks to fit the screen. It's annoying, though, because you usually have to readjust each page and also move the page up or down with your fingers if watching in landscape mode. Unfortunately, the cable hole is on the portrait mode bottom of the tablet, but the stand for my rugged case is in landscape position. Some apps only run in portrait mode, and only with the cable hole down. If my battery is low, I need to use the cable and have trouble protecting the cable end from damage when using the tablet in that orientation. I try to only run those apps when I have plenty of charge on the tablet. At least UA-cam runs in any direction.😊
Well, the !XLat did the FAFO path, I can't help but feel that the whole stellar destruction was a bit way over the top even for Humans. I would have simply cracked a few planets and/or dragged space stations and dreadnoughts into a local star, transited an asteroid into near-orbit around a planet or removed the moon from their home world; to demonstrate they had no ability to stop us from doing whatever we wanted. But I'm not an interstellar general conducting a military action.
I mean would you rather fight someone who could destroy entire systems or someone who's just flinging ships or damaging planets? Because the former, no one would be able to fight back, whereas the latter could go for round 2.
Do you mean the woman who detonated the system? The !XLat were going to execute everyone anyway and humanity couldn't save them. At least she took the bugs down with her. Your the foolish one considering you couldn't understand something so simple.
I liked the story, but it’s a little silly that a warlike race would continue to provoke the humans. First they find that they literally can do nothing against a small unarmed ship that can appear out of nowhere. That should’ve been the first red flag because they would be suspicious of what a large armed ship could do. But I can give them the benefit of doubt, that raiding a human colony would be worth it if they could reverse engineer this technology. But after a whole system goes nova as a consequence of the raid. You have to realize that the humans could wipe out your system at any time and you literally can do nothing to stop them. The story should have ended there with them backing down or the humans directly attacking their home world first .
We wanted only to explore and to learn. We were forced to be Peacekeepers. We Will Keep The Peace.
Humans in this setting getting bombarded by weapons while having near infinite power to their shields. "Oh no... Anyway."
-Jezza strikes again! 🤣🤣
Peaceful humans, a rarity in these parts. But everything is still a weapon to us.😅
Even peace

@Leapyean yes, I know, I quoted that as well a few weeks ago. I think on that video actually.

The same way the Wakandian shield technology works. It absorbs impacts and converts them to usable output.

@Klenth12 I'll have to look for it. Thanks 👍
Akin to Ultra Ego Vegeta, kupo. The more damage he takes the more he throws back at you, kupo.
"Are humans brave or insane?"
"Yes."
I would argue that the answer is no.
Because we are certainly both. :)
The difference between peaceful and harmless is one is capable of violence but chooses not to
To humans, ANYTHING is a weapon.
This is ingrained into our DNA!!
Damn that was so good. i love most HFY but it is rare to get something of this high caliber ty :D

peace only has ever been an option for the strong.
Sir we’ve fired everything we had! And? Their ship remains undamaged however we killed the planet. Gotta leave now.

What a beautiful story! :3
Really liked this one!!!
we come in peace but leave you in pieces...

This was an excellent story not in your face but more like a cool drink in the summer 😅
Power word:Scrunch
Good story but it is easy to be peaceful when you have the power to back it up. Thank you both. UKUK
Now imagine Humanity meeting a hostile peer

Empires sound so noble and good when they get started EVERY TIME 🤷🤣
Human use crush
But only when they make us.
"We have no enemies."
I liked that one a lot. Good job.
An excellent story
Peaceful, not harmless

I really seriously wish you would make the text larger.
