So clownfish don't lay their eggs away from the anemone? Seems that a little biological accuracy would have prevented Nemo's mother and many siblings from dying.
I know, right? No barracuda would EVER get that close to a sea anemone. The second he charged, he would have been stung enough to become the anemone's next meal.
It’s plot convenience. Some fish keep their young at the edge of the nest, so there’s SOME validity, but most fish keep their brood really close to their blocked up nests.
You guys comparing this to Nemo know that if Nemo was accurate Nemos dad would become female over a 4 month period after his mate died and he would breed with Nemo
Probably like me they get annoyed when nature documentaries make it a point to tell you how "rare" and "one of a kind" their footage is. Stop trying to get a goddamn cookie and just tell me what the animals are doing.
WOW. Loved this segment, I’m the owner of a saltwater aquarium and we’ve ALWAYS had clowns. They are so beautiful, lovely, and unique. Truly a treat to see something so special, thank you Smithsonian!!
joseph thadeus no not really. I have both freshwater and salt. It’s just more work but the difficulty not so much. More expensive yes. It’s only more difficult when you mess with corals. But then again keeping discus happy and alive is a Challenge
I can only hope we can undo our footprint on the planet, and make it an even more fertile planet than it was before, just as our ancestors once did with the Amazon rainforest... let us leave our sons a garden world.
bobsagget823 Come on dude. That's not cool man. This is the Smithsonian channel, not the Logan bros. No one wants to read that here. I hope you're a little more considerate in person.
Those are anemone c: they're actually venomous! Clownfish protect themselves from getting stung by forming mucus around their bodies. They're really cool sea creatures.
Is this really the first time this has been observed? In the reading hobby, I could've sworn I saw videos of spawning years ago. From the egg laying, fertilizing, fanning, and the growth from just a hobbyist. I kind of find it hard to believe this is the first.
The only reason people disliked this video was because it's all a lie. Obviously the baby fish stay with their parents. I saw it in a documentary titled "Finding Nemo"
Plot twist: there is a barracuda waiting for the clown fish to leave. Then the barracuda will cover itself with the clown fish's skin and rob the anemone.
Ps I think they This video was help tho but please answer my question about how many eggs can a clown fish can lay I really want to get some and if I wanted to cross breed them what do you recommend and is it alegal in the United States in North Carolina ?😕
Does anybody even know how many eggs does at least one clown fish can even dagon lay seriously I LOOK up videos for this and not one says anything about that so please tell me I want to have two clown fish and breed them but I have to know so I can know what size tank i can get and be prepared.
The amount of clownfish eggs reminds me how lucky Nemo is for not being eaten when he is still in an egg. Fish sure lay lots of eggs so that the chance of at least one survives increases.
so I learnt
NEMO was based on a lie. clownfish parents don't give a shit about offsprings.
No they don’t, they will eat their fry as they hatch
The male eats each of the eggs when they are not fertilized or damaged by fungus. It is a true fact.
If you watch child cartoons lots you will find many things don't make sense lol
And they dont came out from balls but instead literal egg shapes

Some above their brood into their partners to keep predators from eating them owo
Marlin and Coral's eggs don't look anything like the real clown fish eggs
Then they wouldn't have a story
