Wow, a SEO video that's right to the point and actually shows the results within the software itself! This is one of the better videos I've seen on the subject-- thank you! Definitely coming back for more of your stuff.
Brilliant Spencer! Thanks so much for sharing this. A client shared w/ me about Link Whisper some months ago and I had no thoughts on it because I had never heard of it, but I DID know the power of internal links. We have seen more and more success getting 3-5 internal links to each post insomuch that the traditional SEO tactic of going and getting some backlinks to it was so very often not even needed. Thanks for sharing your data. That's great! And Link Whisper sure looks like it makes it super easy to make sure you don't have orphaned posts. Again, BRAVO!
So no structure? No category clusters/pillar posts? Hierarchy? Used LW at my agency, great help. Could we get some clustering functionality??? Thanks, *A.
I am confused on one point. Pages do not rank for a single keyword- they rank for several. So when you have recorded a page's rank, do you mean it's rank for the main keyword? So, from the blog post, you share a screenshot of internal links and you have highlighted a post "best cheap gas chainsaws". So: [1] What was the main keyword that page ranked for [2] Did you optimise your anchor text in these links- was every link ? The reason I ask is that I'm just reflecting on some internal linking building that I did three months ago and I have just realised that, using Google Search Console, I am looking at a page's overall rank instead of looking at the ranking of individual keywords...Duh..
I was just tracking it's main keyword. You are correct that a single page will often rank for hundreds of keywords (variations of a similar keywords). "best cheap gas chainsaws" would have been the main keyword for that article. 2. If possible you should optimize for that keyword, but I didn't always do that as it's not always possible to be exact - sometimes close is good enough.
@@niche-pursuits Thanks, Spencer. To clarify, even if you weren't using exact match anchor text for keywords, you were using text which was very close to the keyword as opposed to linking with phrases such as "click here" or "read this". Thanks
Awesome, are you saying that you added x number of links within y article to z article or for example the one example that had 5 links "added to it", as in links from 5 other internal pages to that one page or 5 internal links from within that one out to 5 other internal pages?
@@niche-pursuits thank you, Spencer! I understand now. I now see how Link Whisper works. Would you be willing to open up a promo code? I just lost my job due to the state of the economy and am focusing full time on the content sites that I've had as a side hustle up to now. Thanks in advance, if that is possible, and thanks for all the insight content you've provided to me and others over the years!
@@niche-pursuits thanks! Also, what correlation do you see to the number of internal pointing links to a post as to when it receives a boost in the SERPs? For example, is it in the 5-10 range, or is just 1 or 2 all it takes? I believe it can also depending on the PR of the pages internally linking to one another, but in general, let's say all PR being equal, how many internal links do you prefer setting up per page?
@@flagfootballhighlights It all can vary. However, as you can see from my case study, most of my posts only got 1 or 2 internal links and saw movement. I really just go for relevancy. If I have 10 other relevant places to link from, I'll do it. If it's only 1 or 2, that's good enough (until I write more content in the future).
I have only confusion...Would you please help me out, I have asked these from many people but didn't get an satisfactory answer. Cross internal link is good or bad for SEO and Google bot? By chance sometime it Possible or necessary to build internal link that become a cross link.... Suppose I have 10 important pages i.e 1,2.3.................10 (all of these are important page) How can I interlink them..? I mean from 1st page internal link to 2.3,4.5.......10 and then from 2nd page to 3,4,5,.....10 and from 3rd one to 4,5,6..........10....Is it a good approach? If not then what to do in this case....If it is good can reverse interlink to the previous page....What should I need to do.... Please Guide me.... Thank You Salman khan
Hi Salman, I thought I’d help you out here. You need to think of internal linking more from the point of relevancy and user experience. For example let’s say you have 2 pages. A section of page 1 talks about a topic that’s related to page 1 and has a more info about it on page 2 then you will link from page 1 to page 2 with a relevant anchor text. Makes sense? Moreover, If you are having difficulty ranking page 2 and don’t have enough pages on your website that can link to it, then you can write more pages on topic that would make sense to link from to page 2. Hope this helps!
Is it ok if most of your links are pointing to a handful of pages? I have roughly 30 pages, of which 3 are really important to rank for. Most of the internal links I've built are pointing to these 3 pages. Is that a good strategy, or am I setting myself up to be penalized for doing this? Thanks for your help!
If each article is over 6 months old, you'll start seeing results within a couple of weeks of doing internal linking, and the final jumps will be over the following 90 days as more of the pages are re-cached across data centers. Google clawls the web about ever 45 days. I've built multiple sites and am a professional SEO of over 20 years, never build an inbound link to them. People put too much effort into link building when each page you write and do internal links properly will increase in PR, as will the entirety of the site. If you want build DA, but content and internal link properly. Here's a little wisdom for you. You can't beat the big boys, you become one of them. All of your major sites have thousands of pages of content. If you want wealth, build out a 3k page site with good internal linking and you will dominate in most any vertical. Build your content in highly relevent clusters. In other words, if you write one TikTok article, you need to write 30 to 40 more if there are enough keywords for it. You start with your top 10 articles with the most search volume, use the rest to juice them up, while also linking to others within that cluster. Within 6 to 8 monts after the last articvles is published, every article will dominate. Then wash, rinse and repeat. Go to UA-cam, then Facebook, Instagram, etc.. Make sure your categories are tight (same keywords in the title, such as TikTok). No article should be in more than 2 categories, and preferable only 1. Keep relevence high. You can link to other topics if it fits, spreading some of that clusters power with others. It would likely be reasonable to link to a hashtag post from TikTok, Instagram or Twitter, as an example. I just gave you the keys to the kingdom. You can look me up on LinkedIn.
You can now do that with a new feature "auto-linking". I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for: linkwhisper.com/tutorials/#How_to_Use_the_Auto-Linking_Feature
Do you call it an "orphan post" even if it is on the blog roll? Then it still has some link right, just not a contextual one. Otherwise if they were pages and completely orphan than of course it was rank 100, it seems sloppy to not even have it reachable at all when you published it
I do still call those orphaned. You are correct that technically they have links, but they are orphaned when it comes to contextual links. (You can set Link Whisper to count non-contextual links if you want).
