Here we are 3 years later, and I believe your content is just as important today as it was in 2020. Thanks for letting us look under the hood - very nicely done!
Love your videos and NichePursuits posts Spencer! I've been binge consuming your content these last few weeks. I've managed to crack $400 in my first month as an affiliate on my first ever website (it's a 30% per commission program, I've got like 8 sales). I'm trying to implement new things I learn from your content so I can further increase the conversions!
Way to go Spencer on over-delivering on value! You have very much inspired me on what it takes in terms of cost and content to get the ball rolling on a profitable, passive income. My question is, how much content should you have already written (or shot in the case for photos and videos) to jump-start your launch?
I think you are really going to boom this season. You have the summer period on its way, combined with a quarantine period which means people have to entertain themselves.. in their yards! Combine that with the increase in online purchased (compared to stores) due to the coronavirus and I would not be surprised if you reach 5k very rapidly.
Years of debating grabbing link whisperer, just to be dissapointed on how extremely slow it has directly caused my backend wordpress to become. Can barely edit gutenberg in safari. Chrome works, sort of. So let down
great to get a look at the site, I didn't realize you had a youtube channel, been listening to the podcast and doing my best to imagine what it looked like (lol)
Thanks Emilia! I've really only started creating videos for my youtube channel in the last 30 days. I've had a channel for 10 years, but all the videos were little snippets for my blog or random content that I could host for free on youtube :). Thanks for following along!
@@niche-pursuits it seems to be putting on subs rapidly....definitely looks to be another successful channel for you. Looking forward to the new content!
Spencer have you thought about or experimented putting a 'search' option on your site? I think it might make it a little more user friendly personally.
I did have a search bar at one point, but I was getting tons of spam links that were linking to searches on my site with odd keywords. So, once I removed the search function, I stopped getting the spammy backlinks. I could probably find a different search solution.
Just a quick one: Given the massive amount of content you write do you have any process in place to give them the article (you give them just the title, or your break down the structure as I do, quite time consuming) and minimize your time involvement? Train them? Trello board etc? Thanks
Hey, nice video as always, Spencer. I checked "Own the Yard" on Ahrefs, and it has over 2,000 backlinks, and over 400 linking domains. Can you share with us your backlinking strategy? Thanks.
Backlinking Strategy: Be relatively internet famous and create a new site in front of an already significant audience. They visit, spend time on the site analyzing things, Google gets "good site" signals, people link it also talking about it being a Spencer Haws case study. (just to clarify, I love Spencer and his info. But it's unrealistic to expect people starting from zero to get the same results)
@@thriftsimple561 I didn't reveal until after it was making $500 a month (or maybe it was $1000...can't recall now). I can't win either way: if I don't reveal site people either don't believe me or don't get the full value. When I reveal the site, people (like you) claim it's only because I revealed the site. It's all good. I have other sites that I've not revealed that are doing better than this site. It is indeed realistic for people to expect the same results, in my opinion.
As you will see, most of the links are from image links. People are using all the images on my site and from Pinterest. That's the bulk of where links are coming from. I also had a VA leave 100+ blog comments (several do follow) in the early days, and I've done some guest posting services (maybe 15 - 20 links?). I haven't built any links in 8+ months. At this point I'm getting several a day naturally...and they aren't from followers of Niche Pursuits (as claimed by someone below)...you can see the new links the site is getting...just random sites finding my images and content and linking. That's what happens when you publish 500 articles and thousands of images.
@@niche-pursuits I understand totally. I definitely wouldn't say it "only" because. The information you put out is solid, and it obviously works. That's a fair point. I do think it's really hard to quantify exactly what portion of any of your site's success is due to a baked in audience though. I love your stuff, I didn't mean for the tone of it to come off so harsh. I was short with the answer, and much of my intention with the comment was lost because of it. No worries! Keep doing the work man, I'm still a fan.
Hi Spencer. Great video. Doug Cunnington recommended you and I can see why. Consider me a new fan. I think you should mention to your viewers that the $30k is only called a loss on a balance sheet. In reality, it is an "investment" in your business. Anyway, I am looking forward to going back and watching the videos on OwnTheYard.com and I'll probably binge-watch your channel over the weekend. :) Thanks!
Thanks man! It's good to see Doug send some people my way :). It's definitely an investment, and won't show a loss on the income statement for long I think. Good luck!
@@niche-pursuits I think you are absolutely on the right track. Hi Spencer, On your recommendation, I started using ezoic. But I see it just ruined the site speed. Even my search console is showing my all pages very slow. Nd now with Google update, I lost my rankings too. I cant understand this rank lose because of site speed too? I am really tired of this speed issue with ezoic. I need some advice really. Thanks in Advance.
The great video and create inspiration. But your site has enough traffic to register Mediavine. Why don't you use this ad instead of Ezoic? I think Mediavine will increase income more than Ezoic.
I actually applied and got approved to Mediavine, but after talking with the CMO of Ezoic, I'm convinced that Mediavine wouldn't earn more (maybe the same). They all get ads from the same place, but ezoic using AI to test and rotate placements and sizes. Mediavine (and all other ad shops) do manual placement. misleading title. The site did not make $3000/mo considering the nearly $40k investment. I think saying the site lost $3,000 in a month is more honest.

How much conversion are you getting inAmazon?
I'm not sure of the conversion rate at the moment.
