  • In this video you’ll learn why internal linking is one of the most effective on-page strategies you can implement to boost your SEO & exactly how to implement internal linking on your website.
    For more SEO tips, tricks and guide: FATJOE.com/
    ----------------------------------------------
    An internal link is a backlink that navigates away from the page that the user is currently on to another page in the same domain.
    Internal links are of course useful for users by helping them to easily navigate towards other relevant content on your site and keep them moving through your website.
    // Why Are Internal Links Important For SEO?
    ► They can help you to propel yourself upwards in SERPS.
    ► They’re also crucial in helping search engines discover new content.
    ► Help your users navigate your website and find similar content.
    // Best Practices For Internal Linking
    Like all things SEO, internal linking needs to be implemented strategically.
    1 / Implement a crawlable link structure
    Your website needs an internal link structure that allows crawlers to move back and forth in an intentional manner. Implement a structure that not only makes it easier for users to navigate around your website, but for crawlers to understand your content, passing authority throughout your pages.
    2 / How To Choose What Page To Link To
    You’ll want to place your internal links in prominent places on your website. By making them easier for users to navigate towards you’ll also demonstrate to search engines that these are the pages that generate the most interest and rank them accordingly.
    3 / Use relevant anchor text
    Your anchor text is the text you attach the hyperlink to. The more relevant your anchor text to the page it represents, the more likely users are to click on the link, navigate to the page and actually engage with it rather than bouncing straight back. Search engines will also rank you higher in those search results for the anchor text used and other variations.
    4 / Avoid using the same anchor text
    Don’t use the same anchor text for different pages. You want to make sure that we’re giving both Google and our users as much context as possible surrounding the content of the linked page. This will help to ensure that the pages are being ranked for the most relevant search terms based on the search intent.
    5 / Link new pages from existing pages
    Every time you add a new page or post to your website, it can take a bit of time for Google to acknowledge, or ‘index’ this new webpage.
    Creating internal links as soon as the page is published helps search engines index the content faster in their search results.
    6 / Link to & from the most important pages
    Link strategically by finding the pages with the most authority. Finding the most authoritative pages and linking out to the other less authoritative pages is a great way to boost any new content on your site and pass on authority.
    7 / Remove links to the unimportant pages
    You want to make it super clear to Google which pages you consider to be the most important so that it knows which to rank. Remove the internal links pointing to non-valuable pages or replace these links with more useful pages.
    8 / Don’t use too many internal links
    This is because in an SEO sense, with our internal linking strategy, we’re kind of flowing authority from one page to another and you have to be mindful of not spreading that too thinly. Not only that, but in not being intentional with your link choices and simply bombarding your users with too many internal links, you’re causing a distraction adding confusion to their experience on the site.
    9 / Fix Broken Internal Links
    Broken internal links are those that link to pages that either no longer exist or return an error. Having broken links on your website, not only creates a bad user experience, but creates a dead end of search engine crawlers.
    So if you can master internal linking yourself, you’ll find that your web pages see a speedy and definitive improvement in rankings.

    Thanks,
    You said, "Don’t use the same anchor text for different pages."
    But can I use the "Same anchor text for a single page inside different articles?"

    • @fatjoewho
      @fatjoewho  2 роки тому +1

      It's not recommended to use the same anchor text for a single page across different articles because it's not very natural.
      For example, if you were to get 5 natural backlinks from bloggers, it's unlikely that each of these would have exactly the same anchor text. Each backlink you build, including any internal backlinks, should be as natural as possible so it's best to use variations of the anchor text and avoid frequent use of 'exact match' anchor texts with internal linking. Hey Pratik! Yes, if you're looking to build internal links to the same webpage, it's good to vary the anchor texts linking to this page using keywords that are related to your seed topic and fit naturally within the content. Hey! You can use this format to add links to the content:
      Link text
      Just swap out the url and link text with the URL you want to link out to and the anchor text you'd like to use. This is a useful guide to adding links to content in HTML: www.tutorialrepublic.com/html-tutorial/html-links.php

    How many internal links would you advise per post? Thanks.

    • @fatjoewho
      @fatjoewho  Рік тому

      No specific answer here as it depends on how long the post is and what links you think are useful to users as a navigation point. You also should balance whether you constantly want to take users away from the post. I would only include internal links to pages your really trying to push and add value 🙌

      Hey! We wouldn't advise setting a specific number, instead just to link to other relevant posts that you have already done on similar topics. This will really help your semantic SEO as Google will understand the posts are all related to each other😊

    Sorry but, I didn't understand what you are trying to say by A to D to F to C and again back to A. Can you explain?

    • @fatjoewho
      @fatjoewho  2 роки тому +1

      Sure! So this section of the video is referring to how search engine spiders crawl a website. These spiders can only follow the internal links on your website, they can't jump from page to page of their own accord.
      In our example, we've linked the following pages together: A > B > C
      In this instance, the spiders will crawl page A, then follow the internal link to page B, then follow the internal link to page C.
      When we say that in this example, the spiders can't crawl from A > D > F > C > A, it's because we haven't linked these pages together with internal links.
      Pages F & D haven't been linked at all so the spiders have no way of finding them.
      We also didn't link page C to page A so the spiders can't make their way back to page A. This doesn't mean to say that you can't link these pages if they're relevant to one another. If we had linked these pages, then the spiders would be able to move from page C to A.
      So when you're considering your internal linking structure, you need to consider how you'll enable the spiders to move throughout your website, and how you want the spiders to move through your website, using your internal links.
      I hope that clarifies this point 🙂
