February River Smallmouth (and a bonus MUSKY) on the Susky

- If there's no ice on the Susquehanna, it's a good February day to catch smallmouth bass! A 32 inch musky also crashed this party. This trip was a first trip in a kayak that I will continue to rig as a reservoir and saltwater boat. My inflatables are still the ideal craft for the rivers. This Hobie Pro Angler 14 360 will serve me well on the Chesapeake, the Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania reservoirs and some other big water on my travels working for Boonedox. The half day on the Susquehanna that this video shows went well, with a five fish total of 91 inches being caught, mostly on Z-Man Bat WingZ on a finesse jig of my own manufacture. The small black jig always gets love!
"You catch a musky..... they're gonna break some of your stuff"...... lol.. AGREED
I got off easy with this one!
No better way to warm up than catching River smallies! Kinda like buck fever.
Love the channel Jeff! Great stuff!💪
Pretty darn good day of fishing for February! 👍
Well done Jeff 👍
Good action Great day especially this time of year. 🙌
I have a 2017 Hobie PA 180. I wish it has the pickup fins, but for me personally I will never use a regular paddle again except when absolutely necessary.
As usual, awesome video and awesome smallmouth. I wish I could find more of them here in Tennessee.
Hey Jeff. That one made me laugh. Always get warmer when catching em. Thanks for the video. I start March 1st.
3/1 is coming soon! 😀
Good one. We been fishing hard this year Shenandoah Potomac an Susquehanna have been really good...
Nice Muskie Jeff!!
I think you caught them all, nice!
ROFL ! You're the only one I know who would sound almost disappointed at getting a 32" Musky into your net, Jeff!! The rest of us mere mortals only dream of having our gear busted up by one of those!! :-) Great stuff as always!
They are cool animals, powerful and beautiful. But their weight and explosive fight makes them easy to injure if you are not equipped with a very large net. I would rather leave them alone.
The bonus after you said bye was some nice fish 😁😁
I really thought I was done.
Looks like Jody left ya some good luck in the boat😂. Super nice fish. Just a thought but what about a magnet on a chalk line to find those jigs when the Muskie bites them off? Thanks so much for the videos and info.
Good idea. It doesn’t happen often. I have more on order.
@@TheLittleStuff chalk lines are good to keep plug knockers on too. Wind the string up in the box and it stays put and no tangles. I keep a plumb bob on one and it’s so easy to keep my tool bag nice and neat
Soaking a Jig in not so clear water, just shows you how well they see bait ! Are you using a lot of sent ? On another subject,I got to be honest Jeff I worked out side my whole life and never wore gloves unless I was shaking iron out or welding, my hands get so cold now at 63 years old that I have to wear gloves at about 50 degrees! lol , I don’t know how you have your hands exposed. 😂I know you’re a lot younger than me,lol. Great stuff thanks for sharing !
I use Liquid Mayhem scent. It’s good stuff.
Do you find you have to use their shad sent on minnow imitations and craw scent on jigs/tubes, or does it not matter? @@TheLittleStuff
You smoked them for February! Hey Jeff, I was wondering if you had any recommendations for landing gear for my Flycraft stealth raft? And any accessories from Boondox you would recommend? I appreciate it man! Thank you!!!
I put Landing Gear on a Sea Eagle Fish Skiff once. You might look at finding a way to get 80/20 extrusion onto that boat via the YakAttack SwitchPads. If you pull that off, you can use the Track Kit Landing Gear.
@@TheLittleStuff I’m going to look into that thanks man! You’ve been a huge help improving my fishing just wanted say thanks again from over here in Columbus, Ohio ✌🏻
PS: I am surprised your kayak still floats with all that gear on it!! :-)
"Just 1 more cast".. lol
I guess losing baits is the cost of doing business in Esox waters.
New knife, Jeff?
Pretty much! 😂 The knife is by Skallywag Tactical.
I’ve got a Hobie 360 12 with a Torqeedo 1103 and have used it on the Susky several times. I don’t have an anchor wizard set up but should and I agree 2 is better than 1. I also agree it’s probably not the optimal kayak for the river but it’s all I’ve got right now. What would you suggest as the best kayak for this river
Innovative Sportsman Osprey 1436.
2 anchors? Just use the 360 drive 😂 jk cool setup with the torqeedo
