  • Small bottom bouncers did the trick on a sunny but cold day. Susquehanna smallmouth seem to have a preference for smoke purple flake baits. In the case of this day, they went for the ‪@ZManFishingProducts‬ TRD BugZ in Sprayed Grass color. In this video we see the quintessential "flurry of activity" mid afternoon. We look at some time lapse video of foam eddies to determine the area of calmest current. It was a good respite from my road warrior sales job.

Jeff, thank you for your wealth of knowledge! I just went out on Sunday evening and caught my PB smallmouth because I was looking for areas you taught in your videos.
I do have a question about baits. For example, if you pull up to a spot after just putting your yak in the water and you say to yourself “there is a fish there”. You throw let’s say a jackhammer in the spot and do not get bit. So you follow up with a more finesse ned rig or finesse jig and do not get bit again. How much time do you spend in each area trying different lures/colors before you move on? Will you throw more than 2 lures at one spot or do you typically move on if they don’t hit on a finesse bait? I hope that my question makes sense! Again, thank you for dedication to us fans! It is much appreciated!

Can’t wait to get over you way on the Susky . I have an Osprey 1436 also. Do you trailer it and if so whats your set up. I see Jake has one also but don’t know if he trailers his. I’m in the middle of a trailer build for it and am looking for ideas. Thanks Jeff , love the channel

I think that I’ve convinced Jake to put it in the truck bed with a Boonedox T-Bone bed extender.

I feel like mud lines like that get fish in there because the sun warms that water a little better. The sun warms it up because it hits the sediment. I’ve had luck fishing in area like that fishing a fluke or floating worm.

The timelapse really helps illustrate your read of the water. Understanding holding spots in a moving stream , that's worth watching!

I’m always impressed with the confidence you have in a handful of baits and the knowledge when to go to them.

I feel like that is true for many grass roots kayak fishers. When you only carry a few boxes for years your really start to narrow it down.

Hey Jeff, thanks for all your content. I’ve really been trying to dial in the cold weather smallies on the Susquehanna. I’ll be going today in fact and been watching a lot of your videos. I have a couple questions if you don’t mind.
Do you generally go north of Harrisburg or south of Harrisburg?
I like to wait until later in the day so it warms up mostly for me lol but I honestly believe it increases my chances of catching fish? Is that belief incorrect or does it matter much?
I appreciate everything you do for the sport and sharing your knowledge.
    Thanks!

Mike, I typically go north of town. The morning bite can be good in winter, but if I am only going for 6 hours, it’s going to be the last 6 hours of daylight.

@@TheLittleStuff thanks for getting back to me, I have another question 🙋‍♂️ I feel like when I’m targeting SM I’m throwing bait that’s too big. Weather it’s jerky bait, a plastic craw or tube bait. What’s your go to size range for smallies. The jerk bait you were using in the video with 3 treble hooks is as large as I go and feel that’s it’s even too big. I felt better seeing you throw a lure that size but in general what’s your go to size for SM?
Thanks again! I really appreciate your passion for the sport!

Thanks again Jeff great content . I also am always debating myself on staying too long in a spot ! Great sunset at the end always a blessing to be able to enjoy those. Do you recall how much battery was left on the torqeedo after 6hrs of fishing at that flow ?

    • @TheLittleStuff

62%. I rarely “gun it”. 70% throttle as opposed to 100% makes a huge difference.

Your Favorite River? Is it that big of a problem to say which river? Looks like a big system. Maybe that's not little stuff. You probably could do a whole video on why not just your channel but most fishing channels avoid talking about there home waters but have zero problem going on the road and put a video out on native waters with basically gps pen point location lol. I enjoy your channel. keep up the good work.

I have some but I do not care for the mega bass Jerkbait they float. The Berkley Stunna has a very nice slow sink everyone I have and there cheaper. Funny to see your confidence in that jig. I have very little with it but I will fish a Jerkbait all day.

    • @TheLittleStuff
      @TheLittleStuff  7 місяців тому

I do feel that there are days when they feed up more than down, and vice versa. You gotta try both. Even those shallow sun-warmed minnows were tight to bottom. So, the jig got more use.
