Just because you dropped the main unit and got scratch on the display, you regret buying it, the name of the video is just 5 second of content in the whole video and your remaining video is all about the brief review of the unit,
This has not been my experience. I have been using the Go 3 for about a month, mostly on my motorcycle (on the bike and on my helmet) - it has performed flawlessly, unlike the 3 GoPros that I used to have, that were all kinds of issues (over-heating, freezing up, corrupted files). I have dropped my Go 3 a couple times, with no problems - no scratch, no cracked screen - it just keeps working. All the things you mentioned in your video are not a surprise: Insta tells you that the Action Pod is NOT waterproof, the battery usage has been just what they said with my usage (almost always on FreeFrame mode @ 1440). I really appreciate that I can choose to have horizon leveling or turn it off in that mode on each individual clip. The screen has been brighter than any GoPro I owned, and lets me see what I'm getting. I like that the screen flips, and I really appreciate using the Action Pod as a monitor when shooting with the camera separately (try that with a GoPro). Seems to me that is this "click bait" with your title. I have ZERO regrets with my purchase of the Go 3 - it performs as advertise and is all I expected. Research your purchase and take care of your equipment so you don't have regrets. This Go 3 is SO MUCH easier to use and problem-free than any GoPro I've used. And very adaptable with the camera and Action Pod being able to be used separately. For the record, mine Go 3 is the 64gb version and lasts me all day on the motorcycle with battery and storage... I don't leave it turned on all the time. I haven't had any GoPro that would last as long on a single battery... and I don't have to carry separate batteries/micro SD cards for this Go 3. I like it - a LOT!
What settings do you recommend? We have just bought this camera and we are having the same issue with the grainy footage, even during the day it just doesnt seem right. What settings have you figured out works best for you? Thank you
@@faulknertrent1992 I use mine on either Video (2.7k, 30fps) or more often on FreeFrame (1440, 50 FPS) so I can choose whether or not to have horizon leveling.
I'm using my GO 3 everyday, i don't have problems. I have 128gb version. I connected to my iPad Pro with usb-c cable to transfer files. It's not as durable as the GoPro but I don't have to worry about it because I haven't done anything extreme actions yet. I mainly use it vlogs and bike/scooter rides.
@@syncrovanCos I records many videos, sometimes i don't have time to transfer to my laptop so it's nice to have more storage. I filled up the 128gb few times already so far no issues other than stopped recording.
I watched the whole video in order to be fair. It was hard. Pretty much nitpicking on small stuff about the camera. Nothing that really says "regret buying this" Resolution is a known spec. If you want 4K, you wouldn't even consider this. This has ways of filming that a GoPro cannot do. Why compare the two? Only complain I have is the price. Having it since launch, it's been my preferred camera mountain biking. It's so light!
Thanks man. After watching all those other go3 videos, I felt like every single one of them is overproduced and designed to trigger an emotional BUY ME reaction. Glad I was not that off.
Thanks for the real review, I was interested but couldn't see a micro sd card slot even though the amazon listing says it has one (I've reported it as inaccurate so hopefully they fix that). Really not a fan of built in memory that will wear out eventually, if it was a micro sd card I could replace that. It also means that the camera would become useless after the usb c port wears out after it reaches it's limited insertion rating. Also can't replace the battery. I don't really want a camera that's nearly $400 that will become a paper weight after usage for a few years. I can understand why they designed it this way so it is easier to meet the waterproof rating, but it's not even a particularly high waterproof rating so I would be worried and just use my other waterproof cameras. Also very helpful to know that the time lapse requires their software to post process, I prefer a camera that just takes stills during a time lapse which wasn't mentioned in other reviews I saw. The other reviews seem to follow a very specific formula with specific marketing terms which makes me think they're just giving out guides to influencers on how to review it and letting them keep it after. The comments here calling it click bait remind me of apple fan boys defending their favorite brand for free from legitimate criticism.
Love my GO 3 and my GO 2 but the GO 3 goes with me now everywhere along with my Action 4 and 3. Each camera has a purpose and are use differently. For those quick action shots to GO 3 wins.
If you can put the go3 on a magnetic surface, I guess you are faster, yeah. That's what it gives you, and some more creative options to put it somewhere in because of the size. Apart from that, I prefer the action 4. Amazing quality.
I had the white version and within a few days the matt black version came out so I returned the white to buy the black 128 version. The black version is not very slippery and I have an inexpensive soft case for the action pod which protects it but not the screen. I love it actually.
It's more bitrate that I'm concerned with than resolution. I have a super high end 4k monitor and I still watch most things in 1080p. My phone is an $1600 phone and I still watch most things in 1080p. I don't think most people watch stuff in 4k yet so that's not the big issue here. Even if it could record 4k 60fps, the limited 128gb non-expandable storage is the real problem. In general, with most action cameras, forget about resolution and go with the mode that has the highest bitrate and drop your exposure by 1 step as well as lock in a white balance that you prefer. Also, record in whatever is considered "flat" color mode for your camera which will make the color dull but you can post edit this or just use normal color. Vivid usually looks nice because it's saturated and punchy but you lose quite a bit of details from the shadows and highs.
I would never expect the “case” to be an ACTION case. Use the case like you use your phone screen and use the CAMERA like it is supposed to be used. Sorry, but it is the same as saying the Onex3 or rs 360 lens is bad cos is easy to scratch ~ use a lens guard then.
Great video. I just ordered the 128 gb version. I believe it will be a big help in my job as a security guard to document incidents or to document end of day lock up and arming the alarm system. Hopefully it works for me.
Wow, that's a very specific use case. And even though I decided to not keep the camera, it might be perfect for what you need. It's size and the magnet can be very useful for you. I'm glad my video could help you.
I love the Insta360 Go 3. It’s the perfect compliment for my Insta360 X3 for all my vlogging & motovlogging. They have totally replaced my old gopro which i sold. My only wish is that the next Go4 gets an external mic jack for better audio recording. 👍🏼

I always upgrade to newer generations for my cameras. But Sadly, I am not upgrading to 3 from GO 2. The GO3 is much heavier and much less pocktable. At the size of a GoPro, you don't get memory cards, no replaceable batteries and the Action Pod is not even waterproof. The flip screen will break on your first bad landing. I would much prefer an iterated version of the GO2. The GO series is about the SIZE and WEIGHT. 34% Increase weight on the Camera unit. Real bad!
No removable battery, no removable storage, it’s not an actual 360 cam, high price. The Insta 360 X3 is a much more capable camera at about the same price.
Thanks. Now I know not to get this. Which action-camera would you use for a three camera shoot of an interview? I've been using three Galaxy S21 Ultras on monopods with double blue-tooth clip-on mics in the phones' c-ports, and then editing in Davinci, TimeBolt, and then Camtasia. Guests scoff at the camera phones. But I like the lightness of this 3-camera kit I've put together. Action cameras would keep it light. Which action camera would you use for a set-up like this?
You could use the DJI Osmo Action 3. But in case you need to zoom or change the focal length, in general, I wouldn't use action cameras. The Sony Alpha ZV-E10L might be a good camera for you. It's light and has a good price.
This is a fantastic cam for the size… you drop GoPro and it breaks as well…if you want super pro clips ..go for professional camera bud….I have been using action 360 go 3 since august 23… need to be careful with any tiny cams. Improve your care.
My issue is that it does not have a zoom feature. I take videos and pictures and it looks very clear and nice but too far away! It’s my only negative on this camera so far!
All I want to know is does it shut down because it overheat in about 10 minutes like the Go 2......... And secondly does the battery life actually last longer than 15 minutes.. Can't even do a simple POV shot from getting out of the truck walking into the receiver getting your paperwork and walking back without it either overheating or the battery dying after it's been in the case charging the whole day......
I think this video was very refreshing and helpful. It’s good to get another perspective and see the negatives so you know what to avoid when using it..d
Thanks man. Appreciate it. Got a lot of critics because of it so it is refreshing to know that it could give you value. It's not about agreeing with everything but about being aware of everything so one can take the best decision for oneself. Cheers!
Great review and thoughts. How much space do the videos take up? I'm looking at the 32gb version, can I transfer the files to my phone in the middle of the day/and do y9uvhave an estimate of how many minutes of footage you can hold with the 32gb version?
Thank you! It depends on which video resolution you are filming. 2K and 2.7 create bigger files. I didn't test the 32GB version, but since it is half the size you should get around 1h 26min in 2.7K and around 45min in freeframe video mode. Yes, you can transfer the files to your phone.
Great video mate! I’d love to see some creative pov shots or how quickly you could create an exciting multi angle sequence By using the magnetic aspect of it… I’d also like to see the low light performance too!
Thank you, Ryan. I don't have the camera anymore, so nothing more to show. But there is one shot in the video where I am in the metro with not much light. Unfortunately, I didn't like the low-light performance. I'm sure that the DJI Osmo Action 4 has a way better low-light performance since it has a bigger sensor. It's probably the next action cam I'm going to try out. Cheers mate!
@@patrickvogel ... yes, looks good.... too many options... I have the hero 10 and the insta 360 x3 so i think it would be madness to add another to the mix. It's versitility and smallness is what has me interested though... all those cameras are pretty bad in low light ultimately. I think the no SD card thing is also a real issue! ... Anyway saw your channel, looks like were creating similar content. ( i actually lived in Mallorca too for a while 😃) keep up the good work 👍
@@RyanOsmond Yeah, I think 2 action cams are more than enough. I try to be as minimalistic as possible and not to fall too much in the consumerism trap. The X3 seems amazing. Ah, amazing! You've been in the ultimate paradise of Europe as well. Great to hear. Thanks mate, you too. I subscribed, so stoked to see some more of your adventures. Happy traveling!
You are obviously go pro guy, I used the go 2 for a long time and now I have the go 3 and have no issues. you 1st need to learn that the action is with the camera not the base... lol
Time lapse / interval modes are also incredibly bad. The battery life in these modes is highly similar to continuous recording, which makes it useless for these use cases... It's impossible to record a time lapse of even a single hour of biking/hiking. I find this ridiculous, and their official replies to questions about timelapse battery life basically ignore the rl actual question and just state the basic battery life for recording, which I think tries to hide the fact of how bad they are for timelapse. But what I find the most disgusting is that virtually all videos about Insta360 products are obviously paid ads. It's impossible to trust any "reviews", which in my eyes make the company quite toxic and makes it much more difficult to consider buying their products. If I can't find balanced information and can't establish facts, I can't make a purchase decision.
Wait! So we have to edit the video with their software to have a good video? That’s so much work just to have a good video with stabilization. Thanks for sharing. Can really see that the main reviewers were paid to review insta products. I really wanted one for travel. Now i don’t want it anymore and will just shoot with my iPhone.
You are welcome. Yeah exactly. It has to process the stabilization first. And it's not the best quality in low-light situations. I would look into the DJI Action 4. But your iPhone might just be fine as long as you are not doing action stuff.
I personally think the action pod is stupid as hell the old charging case was 10x better. This new thing makes the perfect pocket camera and turns it into a big chungus.
Finally a actual review with the truth in the thumbnail! I sent my X.3 back to them and they are trying to charge me even though I have their care for $45 saying that it was an accident but I still need to pay for it which makes no sense. This company had great potential but they are starting to go down
you can put gorilla iPhone glass on the screen, like its 5dollar use your imagination, its a 380 $ camera. most of this sounds like a you problem. and thats ok u want plug and play.
You have some Great valid points but remember if you don't want your ice-cream to fall on the ground always take care of it. Same applies to action cameras 😉 Besides that you get a thumbs down Just for that thumbnail click bait😝
My “issues” are - no haptic feesback when accidentally pressing record on on the go3 or extra indicators to indicating its recording - the edits are not saved on the camera, rather on the device. - mostly things that are software related I did forsee the screen issue so I bought a screenprotector 😊. Also I can highly recommend the 128gb. Yeah its not cheap but will save the headache Have no problems with connecting to my M2 laptop
Sorry to hear. I don't have experience with the other ones. Although, I do think they make great products even though I wasn't happy with this one. Thanks for sharing your experience.
All kinds of protective cases for the safe and display and even lens are sold very cheaply. Everything can be broken, this is your mistake. so small and can stick to anywhere, the camera is only in this brand. What more do you want? I think you keep using the cigarette packed -sized cameras.
lol so many regrets. Also I dont believe you that the case slide off from a backpack at that height which is not more than 30cm+/-. I think you dropped it from a higher position then what you showed.
I really don't understand why it's so shit yet comparative price with a full gopro. The Runcam Thumb Pro is smaller, Higher Res, gyro files & costs about 1/4 of the Go3. The thumb is a crap camera but vs paying that insane money for a 2.7k barely stabilized waste of time.
All of your objections are basically the specs of the camera. All were fully available prior to purchase. It's not like the memory size options were secret. Weird critical "review".
That was a bullshit clickbait title. The entire video was a full promo video featuring all the features. I have a GO3 and it is fine. Only issue I have is the range between the base and the camera for remote monitoring. I’ll publish my own video very soon on my channel. I’m not going to use click bait titles. Though. Ugh.
Thank you for your opinion DesertCharley. I respect it. Although I think you got this video wrong. It's not a promotion, but not everything is bad about it. I mentioned the pros so that people can take their own decision. It's not all negative. But for me, the negative points are strong enough to regret my purchase. That's why I sent it back. Good luck with yours! Cheers
Yup i ended up returning min. It didn't work with the dji wireless mic and it doesn't accept sd cards. Even in 2018 everything i used accepted 1TB sd cards. (My android, a switch, cheap cameras etc)
Put it in a case, take care of your shit haha. I’ve never cracked an action cam screen in my life while snowboarding, surfing, everyday use. They are fragile don’t be a clown
Also regret buying this. They removed the video recording limit for some stupid reason. Now im stuck with a camera that i cant tell if im recording or stopped. Therefore a full storage and battery drained device. This is a disgrace
best setting for INSTA360 not the scrach camare lens so use only home i know you thing this is a action camera but you are wrong first day you can easly make a schrach and your camera useless because evry video take your scrach is there use protection or dont buy it they dont give new one or change the lens because you have to send hongkong and 120 dollars you have to wait so they dont care costemer or costemer come back buy new one they care only you wanna buy from them reset is history typical chines company
That might be "true" for you. According to your belief. I think a camera that can fit into your pocket, film in 4k with a high frame rate (obviously not talking about the go3 here), has amazing stabilization, can go underwater and get wet, resist freezing temperatures, and be used easily for a highly paced activity to get amazing shots without the worry to destroy it, and all that for around 400-500$, is pretty amazing. It opened a world of new possibilities and perspectives. My truth is different. I think they are incredible and I'm happy that there are companies out there innovating and challenging the status quo.
@@patrickvogelYes , it`s " true "for me.
It definitely gets warm but doesn't overheat, at least in my case. Yes battery life last long, you can always charge the case separately.
Yes, you can transfer the files to your phone.
its not the device's fault being broken, its because you are careless, its your fault! NOT GONNA WATCH TIL THE END. this is boring
So, the screen on the base cracked from that distance onto a rug?
No, it was outside on the street
🤣😂🤣 somewhat over exaggerated and the thumbnail looks like a tractor ran over it.. excellent question and comment.. thanks for the laugh!
Oh man, having to export with their software is a real bummer
Imagine this camera would cost 100$. It would have been a killer one.
Yes. But that would be to good to be true
No mem card and no battery replacement kinda turns me off. Im still thinking if I wanna get this
only you know! depends on your usage. I prefer the DJI Action 4. Very happy with it :)
carelessly broke the camera = regret buying Insta 360
not the camera's fault, you should have just been more careful
If I can't find balanced information and can't establish facts, I can't make a purchase decision.
thanks for sharing your opinion!
Built in stabilisation is already plenty good enough for most uses.
This company had great potential but they are starting to go down
Thank you. And sorry to hear that about your X3!
you can put gorilla iPhone glass on the screen, like its 5dollar use your imagination, its a 380 $ camera. most of this sounds like a you problem. and thats ok u want plug and play.
Literally made an extremely similar video a few weeks back on why I returned it. Great video
Fun fact: I actually watched your video a few days after I published mine. Good to see you hear :)
Shit there is only one drawback for mein that It doesn’t have 4k 60fps 😢
The deal breaker for me was the memory. Everything else was amazing.
Almost bought this as they don’t make the Caddx Peanut anymore- glad I didn’t now! 🙏🤝
Didn't know about that camera. Just googled it. Looks literally the same but cheaper. Good for you!
@@patrickvogel ✊🤝🤗
You have some Great valid points but remember if you don't want your ice-cream to fall on the ground always take care of it. Same applies to action cameras 😉
Besides that you get a thumbs down Just for that thumbnail click bait😝
@TiagoWolf I can't debate the ice cream metaphor. Valid point. Thank you for that thumbs-down. Take care :)
New fan and subscriber of your channel here from Vancouver! 👋👍😍
Thanks, mate! Beautiful city, I've been there once.
But you could put some rubber cover and screen protectors!! It is your own negligence hehehe 🤣
Won't deny that!
I use my go3 daily in one month until the memory is full.
My “issues” are
- no haptic feesback when accidentally pressing record on on the go3 or extra indicators to indicating its recording
- the edits are not saved on the camera, rather on the device.
- mostly things that are software related
I did forsee the screen issue so I bought a screenprotector 😊.
Also I can highly recommend the 128gb. Yeah its not cheap but will save the headache
Have no problems with connecting to my M2 laptop
good review, quick question, can you disable the front lights of the camera?
@@FelipeRio have not seen a toggle for that
@@FelipeRio you can disable the indicator lights via the menu, though it's either all off or all on
@@sarezfx many thanks on that I was still not able to find someone who tried haha
My insta x3 can’t sync audio and video correctly. I won’t ever buy another insta camera again
Sorry to hear. I don't have experience with the other ones. Although, I do think they make great products even though I wasn't happy with this one. Thanks for sharing your experience.
You wasted a good camera sir for me
Having this good camera is a blessings
All kinds of protective cases for the safe and display and even lens are sold very cheaply. Everything can be broken, this is your mistake. so small and can stick to anywhere, the camera is only in this brand. What more do you want? I think you keep using the cigarette packed -sized cameras.
lol so many regrets. Also I dont believe you that the case slide off from a backpack at that height which is not more than 30cm+/-. I think you dropped it from a higher position then what you showed.
You are free to believe whatever you want my friend :)
I really don't understand why it's so shit yet comparative price with a full gopro. The Runcam Thumb Pro is smaller, Higher Res, gyro files & costs about 1/4 of the Go3.
The thumb is a crap camera but vs paying that insane money for a 2.7k barely stabilized waste of time.
yeah, it's something totally different. maybe that's why they price it like they do.
Such a great review! Thanks for sharing, Patrick. Will certainly take this into consideration when making my next camera purchase.
Thank you, my friend. Yes please, there might be a better fit :)
So far i love my camera.. I will say it falls too easily when running or being active.
Which do you recommend Hero 12 Black or Osmo Action 4
I've got the action 4 yesterday. I haven't used it yet though. I might do a review of it on my channel. Just come back to it in 1-2 weeks time. Cheers
@@patrickvogel thank you sir. I look forward to it
@@daishi15 I've posted my review of the Action 4. Feel free to have a look, it might be useful. Cheers
how to solve display issue
Can you use an external mic?
I don't think so.
How about the battery can replaced?
No, it's integrated. No change possible
Cheers
Best and Honest Review I ever Seen!! Thanks a lot!!! This was so helpful !!
De nada Wayo. Me alegra que te haya servido! Dale caña en la calle!
My videos are not long anyway, it is good enough
Good for you! :)
Had to replace mine action pos. the wife thought she could put the action pod in water which i told her not to. insta sold me a replacement for 170$
the wife learned her lesson ;)
I also regret buying it
Sorry to hear!
Yup i ended up returning min. It didn't work with the dji wireless mic and it doesn't accept sd cards. Even in 2018 everything i used accepted 1TB sd cards. (My android, a switch, cheap cameras etc)
I see. If you already have the DJI mic , the action 4 makes much more sense. I love it.
Clearly, Go 3 is not just for you :)
Like it!! look like a very honest review! Thanks for your fair opinion Patrick!
You are welcome! Thank you!
Deal breaker for me is it does not come in Black.
Now they have the black one!
So you regret breaking your camera and somehow everyone else is too blame. smh... Mine havent broke yet but i also don't do silly things with it
can it connect with rode mic?
No, as far as I know, it can't.
This review was sponsored by gopro
Every gopro is too big and heavy.
It’s not an action camera. It’s a to go camera
It seems like.
It’s called a screen protector… duh
Your Video is so good. At least 3 reasons to not buy that I didn't know about and each of them is for me a deal breaker.
I'm glad that it was helpful!
Sorry to hear. I feel you.
best setting for INSTA360
not the scrach camare lens
so use only home i know you thing this is a action camera
but you are wrong first day you can easly make a schrach and your camera useless because evry video take your scrach is there
use protection or dont buy it
they dont give new one or change the lens because you have to send hongkong and 120 dollars you have to wait
so they dont care costemer or costemer come back buy new one
they care only you wanna buy from them
reset is history typical chines company
I like this camera
That's great for you 👌🏻
bro, man spricht es "Sör-fiss" und nciht "söhr-fäääys" aus

Bruh, this action pod nearly exploded falling 8 inches from your bag onto carpet. This thing is garbage.
kinda your fault why you regret it.
Click bait, just for the views
barcelona
Strong eye!
Worst review ever. Clickbait title
Lame
ALL " action cameras are still overpriced junk . Sorry , but it`s true.
I note that you avoid all mention of the constant quality control issues too many people , ( including myself ) have experienced after spending a lot of money.
My " truth " is that for a mass produced production line item spat out at a rate of a gazillion units per hour , they are grossly overpriced and certainly of dubious quality.
@@hardystein114 I understand. The experiences differ a lot here. It didn't have quality control issues. Some disappointments because of other expectations maybe. But as said, in my filmmaking journey they helped me a lot. Seems a very personal topic.
Well your click bait thumbnail suckered me in. And I don't like being a sucker. Seems dishonest to me. But you got a view which is - I guess - your goal.
Made a stupid video because he dropped it, broke it and couldn’t get his money back 😂
