I love, love, love your channel! I had to go sniffing my Red Heart yarn....nope it smells fine I'd return it. 🤣 I started my tufting journey with someone else's "scraps" I went to an estate sale and a crochet lady had passed away, her family was selling garbage bags full of yarn for $20. I couldn't help but to buy all her yarn but then realized it would take me forever to use it all crocheting and then I found tufting : ) I have "Finish it Fridays" in my craft basement, every Friday I go through and find any partially done projects and finish them or get rid of it if it didn't work out. This helps keep the clutter and unfinished things to a minimum. I built my frame based on the size the tufting cloth comes in so there isn't a lot of "extras" I try to fill the frame to avoid that problem. The small pieces could be sold as scrap on Etsy to someone who does needle punching for coasters or you could use it for stuffing maybe.
That skull rug is going to be amazing when it’s finished! And love the sneak peek of the bat and moon ❤ and definitely think a bat hanging in that space would work really well
Have to admit that the "smells like poop" tag line really caught my attention 😂😂😂! Never had that happen but I also have yet to order yarn online. Good luck with that 🤞. Seriously, I absolutely love your videos and can't wait to revisit the tufting craze. Your Halloween line is adorable and I hope to mimic my own very soon!!! With your blessings, hopefully!!! Keep doing you, Boogaloo!!!
Don’t ya just love those “ah hah!” moments? Congrats on figuring out the speed vs fullness vs line spacing. It was and sometimes still can be one of my biggest challenges. Also feel that same pain on forgetting to flip the image. Been there a time or two, or probably 12 in the last few years. We get so excited to get going! When I forget, I usually just go ham and make an abstract/freehand using of all my leftover yarns. No one ever knows that there is a backwards drawing underneath! I hope this makes sense…For your scraps- when I made my 8’x8’ frame, I planned a 3rd vertical support that could be added and moved anywhere inside the frame. It has a bracket on top/bottom to screw it to the horizontal rails wherever I need it. Then I ended up cutting horizontal rails in 1’ length and 2’ lengths (to be able to make a 1’x1’ or a 2’x2’ mini frame within my big frame). This allowed me to use scraps of decent sizes. I can’t wait to see how your flower carving turns out! You truly are talented!
I am a crafter (crochet, macrame, sewing, etc.) So I know all about the scrap bags! It can get overwhelming but I dip into them so many times it's worth it. Sometimes I also do a scrap buster project and see how many I can use up!
I love your videos so much. It is always great to learn something new. I am back in the hospital. Great job. I can’t wait to see it finished. I know it is going to be another great rug. Thank you.
I’m sorry if someone already suggested this, but I would see the biggest pieces of leftover tufting fabric together to salvage at least a small frame piece. Try it before tossing the pieces. At the very least you can use is as garland projects. Hope this helps. Keep on keeping on, love you and your creations. God Bless.
I would return the yarn for sure. The smell is not normal and it might be something unsafe. You could offer your scraps on something like marketplace and someone may use them.
Hey girl! I do a lot of sewing my own clothes, when I need to mark the fabric temporarily I use this designer/tailors chalk pencil, that have it in blue and white so it shows up on different colors. I get it from the dollar store, super cheap but absolutely fabulous stuff, it removes with heat/ steam easy!
Omg the way they sneakily tie knots in the yarn like that as if it’s okay drives me crazy too 😵💫. Also I haven’t watched your channel in a while due to poor mental health but that’s meant I’ve been able to binge watch all the videos I’ve missed while I try to work on things for my Etsy shop today. I love you and you’re channel, thanks for keeping me company for the day 💜
I think for the scraps you could use the excess material to do like little puffs of different greens, then you could stitch them together to make a big mossy rug
A Furby rug would be amazing haha a dream of mine is to needle-felt a whole herd of bootleg ass lookin' Furbies. (So far I have two lol.) The skully and skellington rugs turned out so cool! Interested to see the carving technique you're going to do on the flowers 👀
I ordered some cheap knit socks from China and they STANK. They were in a plastic bag with holes in it. I washed and aired a few pairs and they finally smell acceptable. My imagination tells me the ocean shipment may have been exposed to some stinky bilge water or rotten fish or something dead. Sometimes it’s worth it to pay a little more.
Suggestion: For the half heart, make it solid without words, just fill it in. Then us that as the back of the pillow so you have a fully fuzzy heart design
You could use the scraps of material to draw on then use rubbing alcohol to see if it comes off. I too save craft scrap things for a " just in case". It sometimes becomes overwhelming lol
if you do punch needling, those scraps are perfect for smaller projects!! i have some punch needled coasters that are super cute and those scraps would be the ideal size
You should return it. The challenge with items from Amazon and other places that have huge stock and may not have a huge turnaround on, it can sometimes develop mold or other weirdness. Amazon doesn't give a hassle on returning most items that are returnable. they make money off returned items anyways. I love the rugs!
Omg I work at a very known craft store and a lot of the time when dealing with yarn or even those wicker baskets you can buy this time of year, I get strong sheep like petting zoo sheepy poopy smell
Your skull rug looks amazing!!! Such a cool design I love it! I have never heard of acrylic yarn smelling like that before. If it was wool I would be like oh yeah maybe it's sheep droppings. Sonce its acrylic tho it must be a dye or chemical that got left on, or got contaminated while on its way to Amazon?
Love seeing the vlog pop up today. The skull rug is Epic! The skeleton WILL be Epic, too. Smelly yarn: Return and don't look back. Make note of who the Amazon seller was so you don't buy from them again. Tiny spaces to carve: This is an out of the box thought... I searched for narrow ( Tiny, small, etc) carving heads, no luck. BUT I know there are dog clippers that are small. We know there are dogs out there with thick fur. Could work. And possibly men's (ahem..) personal clippers/trimmers that are small, I should say narrower. Wondering if either would work? Just don't get one that needs oil added to use. I didn't know some needed oil.) Anyway... my suggestions are just that. 😅 Happy vlogging❤ 👍👍👍👍👍
Cut your scraps into squared off pieces, whatever size they can get to. Pin or note somewhere what the dimensions are on each piece. Store in a bin until a good number. Then donate to a community program that could use them. In the DC area there are actually Crafting resale places where you can deStash too. they then sell to other crafters or use for community programs. Kinda like a Habitat for Humanity type place for craft supplies.
I don't tuft so not sure if its doable, but for the leftover material you have that comes off your tufting frame - would it be possible (or worth it) to make a smaller tufting frame for working smaller pieces?
Put the cakes in small mesh bags (like for lingerie) and throw them in the washer by themselves. You could even presoak them in Vinegar and see if that fixes the odor.
I am losing it at how much i want literally all these spooky rugs??? Ma'am please my budget!!! Also for the scraps of tufting fabric, make a tufted like footrest poof thing and stuff all the scrap fabric?
So many things to say! Ok 1st, yes to the crafters curse of keeping everything, but would it be possible to sew your scraps together to make a big enough piece to use on your stand?? (Absolutely 0 knowledge of the material so may not even work, just an idea). Also, yes Amazon will take it back as long as it's still in the return period!
Did you link the tiktok in the description? I can’t find it and it sounds really interesting. I am currently knitting a hooded cardigan which I have had to frog and restart about 5 times so far.
Ahh! I forgot to add it but I’ve just fix that! Should be in the description now! 💕 oh wow! I mean, that sounds super difficult. I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it!
Your skull and skeleton look great!.. that sounds like a very odd compliment if you read it out of context.😆 I was also going to suggest a white out or paint pen on your last video but, then I was concerned it might gum up your tufting machine. I really have no idea, it may be a perfect solution. But, I thought I’d mention it so you can keep an eye out just in case. Have you seen Christine McConnells channel? In her last video she showed the awful bruising she gotten from falling off her ladder and landing on a bin full of paint cans. I promptly got us a new step ladder, with nice big steps and railings.😅 I worry about you standing on a chair hon. Please get yourself a good stepladder, k?
Just curious..... couldn't you have just tufted from the other side of the frame or would that not work? Just shine a light on the front and retrace on the back and tuft from that side.
I'm blaming you for my wanting to start rug tufting. I told myself I can't though (at least for now), because I have so many other hobbies that I really don't have the time to add another. 🤦♀ ADHD makes me do or want to do too much.
You could cut the extra fabric into strips if Anyone ever needs a mummy costume. Or sprains an ankle. Idk if you can embroider on it? Or is it too loosely woven? If so maybe a quilt??? You could maybe make stuffed dolls/animals. Or you could throw them out . . .
You can't tuff the heart on the other side ? Never done this before so forgive me if it sounds naive, lol I am not trying to be. I wish I had your talent! You are so good!
Ive bought different brands of underwear from Marshalls that have smelled like crap before... they were still new rolled, up with tape and all but did smell horrid. 😂
I haven’t but I did see it at Joanns recently! If it came in bigger rolls then I might tuft with it but they’re so small that I feel like it’d be expensive to do something with. I wonder if I could dye it myself 🤔
No. No no no no. It 100% is NOT normal! Once I ordered some yarn from Premier and I NEVER have an issue with their yarn, but ONCE I got a 3 pack of yarn and the whole thing smelled like pickles. IDK if someone in the warehouse was eatting lunch and dropped some pickle juice in the bag or what happened. But I reached out to Premier and they told me just toss out the yarn and they would send me new yarn. IDK if Amazon replaces items like that? You may have to mail it back to them, though I doubt anyone wants your poo yarn 😅
It isnt a dye smell. Red Heart is a plastic. It shouldnt have any smell to it at all. Oh idea for your scraps. cut them square and sew them together overlapped and see if you can use them then
For the scrap tufting canvas, you should make a tiny tufting frame and make mini rugs with the manual tufting needle (it’s fine if you share my name if you ever use this idea)
i 1000000000% want to see a furby!!! also for drawing on fabric, there are pens that erase with heat that would probably be very useful
Ooooooooooo!!!! That sounds so cool, I’ll definitely look into it! Thank you!
Return it! It doesn’t matter WHY it smells. You get to explain why you’re returning it. They’ll take it back.
True! I has been returned!! 👍🏼
I agree, I’d return it
I love, love, love your channel! I had to go sniffing my Red Heart yarn....nope it smells fine I'd return it.

Seeing the back view of the tufting of Mr. Skelly with the spookyish music playing was just the best, and made me smile. Thanks for a great video.
Yessss it was the perfect moment to bring in the spooky music haha that makes me happy! 💕💕💕
That coffin skeleton is awesome!!! Im in luv!!!
Thank you soo much!! 💕
That skull rug is going to be amazing when it’s finished! And love the sneak peek of the bat and moon ❤ and definitely think a bat hanging in that space would work really well

I like to cut my scraps into little pieces and use it for pillow stuffing saving the amount of poly fill you have to use ❤️
Don’t ya just love those “ah hah!” moments? Congrats on figuring out the speed vs fullness vs line spacing. It was and sometimes still can be one of my biggest challenges. Thanks for sharing the moving the gun slower tip! That was my problem too.
O. M. G that skull rug is gorgeous.
Thank you soo much!!! 💜
I would return the yarn for sure. The smell is not normal and it might be something unsafe. You could offer your scraps on something like marketplace and someone may use them.
Maybe use the scraps to make a giant mummy for Halloween 🕸🕷 or make it into giant spiderweb
I am really loving these studio vlogs Also the skull rug you finished is GORGEOUS!!
Hey girl! I do a lot of sewing my own clothes, when I need to mark the fabric temporarily I use this designer/tailors chalk pencil, that have it in blue and white so it shows up on different colors. One link to rule them all!!!
Hi love hope you’re having a good day keep up the good work love your designs❤
You could use the scraps of material to draw on then use rubbing alcohol to see if it comes off. I too save craft scrap things for a " just in case". It sometimes becomes overwhelming lol
You could use your scrap fabric by doing punch needling on embroidery hoops and sell them as wall art x
I have everything to do it haha I just gotta find the time 😂💕
if you do punch needling, those scraps are perfect for smaller projects!! i have some punch needled coasters that are super cute and those scraps would be the ideal size
Hmmmm maybe I’ll try to get into punch needle! It would be so perfect, maybe some wall hangings 🤔
Oops should have finished watching, the diluted white paint looks to have worked well 😊❤️
You should return it. The challenge with items from Amazon and other places that have huge stock and may not have a huge turnaround on, it can sometimes develop mold or other weirdness. Amazon doesn't give a hassle on returning most items that are returnable. they make money off returned items anyways. I love the rugs!
P.S. Concerning the left-over tufting-cloth:
Maybe you could cut squares out and mend them together for making small tufted pieces.
Retrace the design from the back side (front of the other rugs) and work it from that side so you don’t waste the cloth
you can use the scraps for an embroidery project, maybe? I love your content you are so inspiring to small creators! thank you! ❤
Omg I work at a very known craft store and a lot of the time when dealing with yarn or even those wicker baskets you can buy this time of year, I get strong sheep like petting zoo sheepy poopy smell
some of those scraps u could put on a loom and paint or try embroderyingggggggg
Your skull rug looks amazing!!! Such a cool design I love it!
I have never heard of acrylic yarn smelling like that before. If it was wool I would be like oh yeah maybe it's sheep droppings. Sonce its acrylic tho it must be a dye or chemical that got left on, or got contaminated while on its way to Amazon?
Can you possibly sew your leftover tufting fabric pieces together until you get a big enough piece to use again?
Love seeing the vlog pop up today.
The skull rug is Epic! The skeleton WILL be Epic, too.
Smelly yarn: Return and don't look back. Make note of who the Amazon seller was so you don't buy from them again.

Happy vlogging❤ 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much!! Yes I have returned the yarn, yay! I looked into smaller clippers as well haha I’m considering 🤔 thank you so much! 💕
Can you tuft the 'do us part' from the other side?
Sounds like its furby time!!!!
Heather, Can you tuft the 1/2 heart from the other side ????? The back side ?
I bet a lice comb would work good for taking out several stitches at once if ya don't have an extra clipper piece 😉
Heather, what if you tuft the heart half from the other side? Does it make a difference?
Cut your scraps into squared off pieces, whatever size they can get to. Pin or note somewhere what the dimensions are on each piece. Store in a bin until a good number. I don't tuft so not sure if its doable, but for the leftover material you have that comes off your tufting frame - would it be possible (or worth it) to make a smaller tufting frame for working smaller pieces?
I’m making homemade banana bread while watching your video. I love it
Mmmmmm!!! Banana bread is one of my faves!
Put the cakes in small mesh bags (like for lingerie) and throw them in the washer by themselves. You could even presoak them in Vinegar and see if that fixes the odor.
Absolutely this! I actually put whole skeins into nylon stockings and wash them that way too.
I am losing it at how much i want literally all these spooky rugs??? Ma'am please my budget!!!
Also for the scraps of tufting fabric, make a tufted like footrest poof thing and stuff all the scrap fabric?

What was that tiktok video you were talking about that explains how to film content? I dont see a link anywhere.
It’s in the description!
Is it possible to shave / carve while it’s still on the frame ?
What if you made a smaller frame and use those smaller pieces to do stuff like your little bats and stars. That was my thought.
I worked at Amazon. They’ll take it back. You should’ve seen the things people return. After what I seen I’ll NEVER buy clothing online.
Just curious..... couldn't you have just tufted from the other side of the frame or would that not work? Just shine a light on the front and retrace on the back and tuft from that side.
Make a smaller frame to use scrapes on for small peices
I just bought the same 3 pk yarn in brown. I swear it smelled like barf! I asked everyone to smell it. I wonder if we bought from the same seller.
Could you tuft from the other side? Then it would be the right way round
I feel like I've heard of people sewing excess tufting fabrics together to make a bigger one? Not sure how that would work
I'm blaming you for my wanting to start rug tufting. I told myself I can't though (at least for now), because I have so many other hobbies that I really don't have the time to add another. 🤦♀ ADHD makes me do or want to do too much.
Send it back, yes it is a dye issue. If you cannot send it back, pu them out in the sun to air
I have successfully returned it! Woo! 👍🏼💕
You could cut the extra fabric into strips if
Anyone ever needs a mummy costume. Or sprains an ankle.
Idk if you can embroider on it? Or is it too loosely woven? If so maybe a quilt???
You could maybe make stuffed dolls/animals.
Or you could throw them out . . .
Or a giant stuffed mummy
Hahaha a giant stuffed mummy, I love that! I’ll find something to do with it haha
You can't tuff the heart on the other side ? Never done this before so forgive me if it sounds naive, lol I am not trying to be. I wish I had your talent! You are so good!
Yea, I suck @ the social media stuff too! If i could get my confidence up, I'd probably be more successful @ it!! Lol!
It’s time management for me haha it rather, I need more hours in a day 😂 but I think a lot of people would say that haha
Ive bought different brands of underwear from Marshalls that have smelled like crap before... they were still new rolled, up with tape and all but did smell horrid. 😂
Return the yarn!!
Have you tried glow in the dark Yarn????
I haven’t but I did see it at Joanns recently! If it came in bigger rolls then I might tuft with it but they’re so small that I feel like it’d be expensive to do something with. I wonder if I could dye it myself 🤔
@@ArtsyMadwomanthat would be a fun video!
I wonder if you could have tuffted from the other side.🤔
I'd contact Amazon & ask for replacement or refund 💯
I 💜 the skull rug!!!
I returned it! Haha thank you so much! 💜
No. No no no no. It 100% is NOT normal!
Once I ordered some yarn from Premier and I NEVER have an issue with their yarn, but ONCE I got a 3 pack of yarn and the whole thing smelled like pickles.

Where is the resin art video you where making.
It’s waiting for me on my laptop haha I’ve been so busy trying to get rugs ready for September that I haven’t had time to edit it :(
It isnt a dye smell. Red Heart is a plastic. It shouldnt have any smell to it at all. Oh idea for your scraps. cut them square and sew them together overlapped and see if you can use them then
Its probably a chemical. Other countries dont have the same regulations as the US does.
Not yarn, but I ordered cabochons from Amazon a few years ago and they smelled like pee..
Oh man, so weird!
i havent trusted amazon for anything in years. Got way too many knockoff, used, and gross products :(
For the scrap tufting canvas, you should make a tiny tufting frame and make mini rugs with the manual tufting needle (it’s fine if you share my name if you ever use this idea)
Return it THEY DO NOT LOOK AT THE ITEMS. JUST THE WEIGHT. AS LONG AS IT WEIGHS THE SAME
Don’t buy that “knotty” brand off yarn again. 👿
