"Take Five" is a jazz standard composed by Paul Desmond and originally recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet at Columbia Records' 30th Street Studio in New York City on July 1, 1959 for their album Time Out. Two years later it became a hit and the biggest-selling jazz single ever. Revived since in numerous movie and television soundtracks, the piece still receives significant radio airplay.

Perfect Fourth is a traditional musical term representing a unique relation between two pitches. While the use of it has been prevalent even in the European middle ages, the stacking of fourths is also often used nowadays to create chords and progressions with a sense of modernity.
The Perfect Fourth Harmonica Quartet aims at creating a modern and fashionable performance style on the basis of their invaluable traditional influence.
Perfect Fourth

When you’re talented musicians it doesn’t matter what instrument you use!
Exactly perfect appreciation
I don't know... I'm rather talented but I cannot get my armpits to reach most of those notes...😏🤣😂
@@timmainson Hey I'm sure you could keep a good rhythm as a percussionist 😂😂
which sounds better: a musician who practiced 1000 instruments for 10 hours each, or the musician who practiced 10 instruments for 1000 hours each?
I'd argue it's crucial that they're playing harmonicas
I've played harmonica for 35+ years, I've never seen harmonicas like these. Excellent! 👍
The long one is a chord harmonica, the big one is a bass harmonica, and then the other two are standard chromatic harmonicas. You probably play either the diatonic harmonica or a tremolo harmonica.
Hello, I'm reminded of " The Harmonocats ".
Stevie Wonder?
Toots Thielemans?
Lee Oskar?
I'm afraid after 35+ years, you don't known much about your instrument.
@@jbmaillet Toots played very well.
Look for Morton Fraser Harmonica Gang, and other groups in the 50/60s
People who don't listen past the 25 seconds mark are losing out the best part really just starts at around 0:55 Sooooo Smoooooth !!!!!!!!!!!! I've never heard harmonica played so well before !
If you think this is good you should watch the guy that NAILED the ENTIRE freebird solo on harmonica
@@jada90 The live The live Cold Chisel Bow River will blow your mind too.
Yeah I could use more of that. Made me think how good the acoustics must have sounded in person
@@jada90these guys??
@mtlicq Dude you've got to check out Toots Thielman
As a fan of Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond and DB group, this is great.
Saw them at Cork Jazz Festival in 1991. Impeccable!
I think they'd be proud of these talented musicians! I love this.
I didn't know some of those harmonicas existed. Beautiful work young brothers. Love from Brooklyn USA.
I was thinking the same thing
🙏❤️🍻
Me, neither. I knew there was the chromatic like Stevie Wonder uses and my trusty Marine Band in C. I learn something new pretty much every 15 minutes.
I was lucky enough to see Stevie Wonder play live in the late 90's. He used what I call a slide harmonica to vamp from "Cherie Amour" straight into "Girl from Ipanema" I'll never forget it.@@shamanbeartwo3819
'Take Five' isn't something I ever expected to hear performed on harmonicas. Great job, gentlemen.
Please take these five glowing stars for your performance: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
《Take Five》

Back in 1969, this song was the theme song for KPCC / Pasadena, Ca's daily show "Just Jazz." My first on air announcing gig.....NPR local station.
There used to be a jazz station in my area, but it's long gone now. I still miss it; jazz is one of my favorite genres.@@timmellin2815
I love the harmonica bassist in the chorus jumping from the top to the bottom in a split second.
Wonder rendition! Another example of how music transcends everything.
Thank you Michael!
Look at the talented Polish youth orchestra !
everything??

Mr. Brubeck and Mr. Desmond approve. I just know it. So imaginative and unexpected. Well done!
I have been wondering what a four piece harmonica song would sound like. Thanks for sharing, it was awesome.
Look up the Harmonicats from the 1950's - 1960's.
One time delicious listening,
Two amazed ears,
Three « bravo »,
Four brilliant players,
And an amazing... take Five !😋🤩👌
Very good. Way back when there was a quartet called Jerry Murad's Hamonicats. They did similar treatments of tunes like this. 👍
The Harmonicats were great! I used to have a record album of theirs from the late 50s, but a guest of one of our house parties stole it along with my favorite vintage "twist" record.
@LazyIRanch I hate when that happens. I had some things stolen that were one of a kind memorabilia. But yes , they were great and I remember seeing them on a few T V shows.
@@jimfritz2087 I'm sure I saw them on the Ed Sullivan show. Like most families in the 60s, we always watched his show... it had everything!
I was once stopped by a NYS Trooper who told me he was a former member of the Harmonicats. Don't remember his name but I always wondered if he was telling the truth.
This was back in 1975.
As a fellow harmonica player I got off with a warning.
@charlespatt Too bad you didn't hand him a harp and say " play something". But that could have turned out badly. A warning was good. 🎶
Superbly excellent. There are not many harmonica groups. I could listen to you guys all day ! Thanks for the hard work and allowing me the priviledge of listening ! A friend always !
Brubeck fan for 50 years... this is great.
This is an excellent cover. It almost sounds Eastern European.
A fantastic song , remade very well.
📻🙂👍
That was Fantastic. Most people don't take the harmonica seriously. It was so nice to see those different models in use. Thank you.
A 4-piece harmonica band almost seems ridiculous ...until you hear THESE guys! Well done! Bravo!
This is how you get the chicks
Dave Brubeck lives!
Very cool!!!
I can't believe how good this actually sounds....who knew?
Bravo ! 👍👏👏👏💖c’est juste excellent ! Félicitations ! 🥰2023, Paris 🇫🇷
Wonderful ❤❤❤
Big fan of Dave Brubeck Quartet and Toots Thielemans I approve. Been casually playing the Harmonic most of my 50+ years and not at that level.
Great to hear an all-harmonica rendition of "Take Five", one of my favorite songs.!
Sweet!! ... this reminds me so much of my late father. He was such a beautiful harmonica musician and singer. I miss him so much and your performance brings so much wonderful memories - THANK YOU for sharing! 😍🤩🥰😘🎶🎵🎵
*Wonderful*
This is one old, grey-haired fossil whose day you just made.
May you young-uns thrive!
I thought “this will be interesting”, I did not expect it to be THIS GOOD
Half a meter of a harp is what I call a nice workout 🎉
Cool performance guys 🛐😍👌
bro with the long one is the hardest working musician I've ever seen
The guy in the bottom right looks like he tore off a hospital lamp and started using it to play a dope cover.
Brilliant! :)
Sensationell. Bravo. 🎉
Maravillosos....
They got the Sax Improvisation down perfectly
Dave Brubeck would approve. Wmonderful use of a woefully underated instrument.
Thank You!
Jerry had a lot of distance to cover on that large harmonica. Good job! Hope your channel grows fast!
Gotta say, the guy with the biggest harmonica is impressively acrobatic, moving so quickly from one end to the other.
This is one of my favorite compositions. It is written in 5/4 time which is very difficult to play. These four gentlemen played it beautifully and perfectly! Well done! I thoroughly enjoyed it. What a great way to start the day! ❤
Excelentes armónicas!
Felicidades desde Argentina!!
Bravo!!🙌🏼 I have always loved this piece of music, and your rendition was a wonderful way to start my day! I am sure Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond would be delighted with your performance.😎💙🙏🏽
Undoubtedly the most labor intensive version of Take Five that I’ve ever seen !
Thank you for this. I was fortunate to have seen Dave Brubeck. And I play harmonica. Totally badass.
I've never heard 5 beats sound so natural and organic!
Amazing. I‘ve never heard that accurate harmonica playing 😮
The HARMONICATS Reincarnated
Nicely Done
This is the most tasteful harmonica playing I have ever witnessed in my entire musical life! Superb work, gentleman!
Never seen a Harmonica assembly before. This a beautiful cover.
I'd like to buy these gentlemen a few beers if they're ever here on the central coast of California.
Didn't realize the harmonica could be so cool ! Kudos !
What an amazing cover of this wonderful piece of music. Absolutely fantastic! 🙏🙏🇬🇧
These guys are easily in the top 3 four-piece harmonica bands from Hong Kong. Easily.
It only took 4 to take 5, and it took 3 years to reach my ears, love from Holland.🌷
This video has been out for THREE years, 350,000+ views, and 820+ comments but only THREE LIKES???? Come on people this is great. I am the third like by the way.
New respect for playing Dave brubeck. Most young people dont know who he is. Good on you lads.
Well done, guys! Congratulations!
🎯🎶👍💪 🇲🇫 🌼
I love how fast the guy on the bottom right moves from one side to other of that massive harmonica haha
I wish I could have this as a ringtone.
Wow :) That was so cool! I didn't even know those crazy harmonicas existed haha You're talented, great arrangement.
I was wondering if there is such a thing as a harmonica quartet. And so there is
I never even knew a bass harmonica existed and now my world is changed.
Also that sounds amazing. Take 5 was one of my favourite songs to play on alto saxophone.
Dave Brubeck would love this.
"'Take Five' wasn't supposed to be a hit. It was supposed to be a Joe Morello drum solo." - Paul Desmond
Bellísimo, chiquillos. Muchas gracias. Desde Chile 🇨🇱.
Amazing, amazing talent. HELLO from Southern California, USA.
A modern and fun rendition of a well-known hit
I never knew harmonicas could be so big, you guys killed it! 🎉
Muito bom
Dammit now mom recommendations feeds gonna be full harmonica players for the next three weeks! Awesome job. Thanks a lot :-)
Can confidently say this is the best harmonica I have ever seen
Sjajno😍🤗
Bien muchachos!.

For great musician, I could listen them all day and night
Well done and best wishes from Hamburg, Germany..
Thank you Inderneil!
♥ The double-decker harmonicas!
Such a sweet take on a beloved tune.
Awesome. I play blues harp. This is inspiring.
Have you ever messed around with a chromatic harp?
@@RoryGFan-39 Not really. I own a Horner 64. I started on Marine Bands as a teen. I play Golden Melodyes. Best chromatic player IMO is Rod Piazza. I have seen him quite a few times. As far as other harp players I enjoy are William Clarke, who I saw twice but he passed on. Little Walter of course. Kim Wison, who I have seen. Rick Estrin, Mark Hummel. Have you seen harp books by Dave Barrett. I took lessons from him to clean up my playing. I wish I can flutter tongue but just can't master it. I play blues guitar. Ever heard of Jr Watson? I went to HS with him. There are vids on youtube. Ck him out. Particulary his swing playing on "Hucklebuck"
@@maxromero2903 Rod Piazza is awesome, I've got a couple of his albums. I mainly played marine bands for about five years but I bought a marine band crossover a few months back and I have a feeling it will become my go-to. I haven't heard of Junior Watson, but I love swing so I will definitely check him out. I play guitar too, Rory Gallagher is my number one
@@RoryGFan-39 Jr Watson played with Rod on early albums by the Mighty Flyers. Ck out the Mermen, all instrumental guitar , but no blues. They are labeled as surf. If you like slide, get a chance to see Roy Rogers or Eric Sardinas. Better live than their recordings. Never saw Rory live. I like SRV. I have a lot of bootlegs by him.
