Tony! I love this! It;s been a very long time since I was on the Blue Ridge Parkway and this video is above and beyond awesome! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS UPLOAD! I will treasure this for as long as it is here!
More than 60+ years ago we courted up there. Had to lay my NC mountain girl to her rest high up in the Smokies that were her home. 60 years I held her hand and she kept me on the straight and narrow. Good grief, I wish it were more. If I get to see her again, I will love her again, but better this time.
I was just there. A video can’t do justice to how beautiful it is. Unfortunately as we got closer to Mt. Mitchell it got really windy and rainy and like 52 degrees (mid July). I wanted to hike around Mt. Mitchell but couldn’t convince the family LOL. But it was awesome - hope to go back next year. We really liked the Hendersonville area.
I love the Parkway, and this may be the most beautiful area in the NC mountains, and maybe the entire Parkway. Notice how the vegetation changes as you go higher. Around 5,500 ft. the deciduous trees give way to the conifers (red spruce and Frasier fir in the southern Appalachians) because of the almost Canadian climate at these elevations. Mt. Mitchell is the highest peak east of the Mississippi river, at almost 6700 ft. It can be quite chilly there, even in June. You should make another video of the short highway that goes all the way up to the Mt. Mitchell parking lot. Amazing views there too.
Tony Lee Glenn You are good playing guitar, don't get me wrong. I just wanted some NC flavor into the mix. No offense intended. I add my own taste of music in every video about traveling on the road. On videos about the American West I listen to cowboy themes. On videos about motoring in Europe I listen to classical music. Keep up the good work!
Beautiful! We plan on doing this drive in our RV this fall (at least as much of it as we can, determined by the tunnels). What music is playing in the background?
Hey Gabi. That's actually some of my original music - just me playing a couple of acoustic guitars. Thanks for asking, and thanks for watching my video.
Why do they not cut the grass anymore? I grew up not far from the Parkway and up until the past few years the grass was always cut back to the woods line with places you could pull over into grass. Now the weeds are waste high...?

This is probably the best video in terms of seeing what it's like on the drive itself, very well done
I’ve ridden it a few times, top to bottom and back up. Best rides ever!
Most beautiful country on the east coast !
Just came back from traveling on the Parkway. Loved It! Can't wait to get back down south next spring!

I'm watching again your video and this time I'm listening to your playing the guitar without interruption. You are very good.

what a pretty place, my video wouldn't be nice like this one, it would be the loud sounds of my porsche doing 100mph in the tunnels
Thanks Craig - I do my best!
The movie Alien Abduction brought me here
A DRIVE EVERYBODY SHOULD TAKE. DROVE IT FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER END. BUT NOT LL AT ONCE. MTY BROTHER LIVED AT MILE POST 114 ON THE PARKWAY
i have page and balsley family buried at mile marker 6 near the mt.humpback visitors center at humpback rocks on the mountain.
What does the Blue ridge Parkway, Social Security, FDR, and Josephus Daniels have in common?
Earl Phillips Probably communism. Not sure, but would love to know.
