@@timvanboening9432 What most people miss about words in a song, people like Elton John or Ryan and a few others are soooooo goood at arranging the music the words almost become overpowered, now if they are really, really good, then thats a bonus. For instance, in Daniel (my brother) Elton tore out the last stage of verses from Bernie's song and said we have the hook, its too long. Well, the song is kind of a mystery, it seems its about a loved brother who has died. I think the last stanza probably told us that. Eltons music usually ma de the song, Ryan can write and arrange. Thats why Elton loved him when he bought his album back in 2001 per chance. Lyrics are not as important as arrangement, just listen to some of this poppy shyt that sells now, lol. It isnt a reworking , he handed this and as far as I know, every cut on 1989 already prearranged melodically to Swift and EVERY LYRIC ON THE ALBUM IS MINE
I literally had NO IDEA this was a cover until reading these comments. And having been born and raised on the Ryan Adams version (haha), I could never to the Taylor Swift version. Ryan Adams is so talented and I'm completely obsessed with his voice and the way he strings the lyrics together. It's just so beautiful.
I heard this version and soundhounded it and it came back as Ryan Adan’s. I was trying to play it one night and got called out for being a swiftie. Had never even heard a swift song before. I laughed about it but still play this version, poorly, with no shame. 🤣😂
He's pretty much the king of doing that. Wasted Years is another good one. Wonderwall. The list goes on. Sometimes I feel like he's covering some of his old stuff to put it in a slightly different light nowadays, if that even makes sense.
Crackpot Scientist the great soul singer Bettye Lavette has been doing "covers" like this for decades now, calling them "interpretations" instead. In the late 90s, she released I've Got My Own Hell To Raise, where she covered exclusively female artists---ranging from Dolly Parton to Fiona Apple---albeit in her bluesy, soul style. She eventually released the British Songbook, doing the same for anyone from Led Zeppelin to Pink Floyd to Elton John to not only the Beatles, but a song from each of their solo careers, too!
If you didnt know he covers the whole 1989........i love ryan adams, so i thought, i better check out this album (by taylor) loved it, then bought the ryan adams one, im a big taylor swift fan now......ha ha.
Taylor says her version is tongue in cheek. That is, she isn't really claiming to have a long list of ex-lovers who think she's insane. But with Ryan you get the feeling he's being sincere. Maybe that's why his version Is slow and heartfelt.
It's an age thing really, I would think. When Taylor wrote it, it's tongue in cheek that she could have the long list at such an age. But for Ryan, it is possible so he interprets the song more earnestly. Love both versions. I often listen to his and her versions of the whole 1989 album interspersed. Stellar songs and stellar rearrangements/covers.
@@loadedready even after the Phoebe Bridges es stuff he’s still your fav? He is a damn good song writer Eve tho I hate him. Always heard he was the biggest asshole like in a stuck up way.
I'd love to see Taylor Swift step out on stage and sing this version. Then Ryan Adams come out and start to do her version. Then Taylor Swift's rest of the concert is doing Ryan Adam's catalogue of best songs backed by his band. Then ponies!

I love his version, but gosh i wish he'd adjusted the lyrics just a bit so that he's not referring to himself as she... Just a couple of slight changes... Having said that, Ryan Adams, in the end, really can do no wrong.
This version of ryan adams is so good... And it also shows Taylor's song writing skills
Agreed.
Ryan’s versions was what made me a fan of Taylor’s and made me look at her as a songwriter.
She didn’t write it, I did and DRA arranged it.. she merely bought it from Adams
@@wlgj1341 lol you're funny, this song is written by taylor and max martin, shellback
Taylor and the 10 other song writers

Ryan Adams doesn't get enough credit.
He never has gotten enough credit. Multi-faceted talented person.
amen to that. one of the most underrated musicians of our generation.
agreed, he gets so much shit and he's so talented
Ryan would not have it any other way. He is under appreciated. What a badass
I didn't like his stuff for a long time but his sheer longevity is bringing me around.

Eva Cassidy, the queen of cover music, once called herself an "interpreter." This is Ryan Adams' interpretation of "Blank Space" and it's beautiful.
Absolutely
Wow. The mark of a truly good cover is a complete transformation of the original, which this achieves. Nice folksy rendition!

This version of a great song just leaves you breathless. The Fabulous One!
Gives me chills what a fantastic cover
How was that possible to cover that album like this...he turned all the songs into a masterpiece. Heartbreaking beautiful ❤️
Because they were already masterpieces, maybe?
It must have been that the songs were good to begin with.
Both versions are magnificent
Quality dude he has got it big time. He can do cover version that become his own.

No, she’s making an excuse for not having written it..I wrote it, she got it arranged from Adam’s who got the lyrics from my portfolio
And it’s “ Starbucks lovers”…
That shirt reminds me of the rock 'n roll album! :-) Ryan still is and probably will always be my favorite artist!
still with us?

This is just amazing. Can't understand why people doesn't like this one.
People like it, but not many people know abot it.
Although I do love TS. Music put to her lyrics in this way makes you much more able to appreciate them better. She really is VERY talented.
Because he is amazing!!!!!
incredible tune, great performance, awesome melody.
I love this song, awesome lyrics
wow. just wow....
He is so brilliantly brilliant
Chills. Somehow this version makes me wanna cry!! 😅
Such a funny opener. love it.
I wonder if he really did sleep with Sandra Bullock.
Incredible version!
Excelente cover, Ryan Adams es uno de mis cantantes favoritos
What a beast
Beautiful man with a beautiful soul #ryanadams☄️
not really. unfortunate i loved him so much and turns out he kinda sucks.
He's a dick but it doesn't take away from his talent
he's the best, I love this dude so much,
This is magic .
just beautiful
BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!!
Ryan Adams and Nate Walcott. Amazing.
I love that he redid this album. The lyrics sound so much better when he sings them..
Especially on Blank Space & Wildest Dreams
Tawlo I don't think they sound better, just different.
Alexis Ford I agree. It's good, but not better
According to feminists on Twitter now its considered musical mansplaining.
Ridiculously good
it feels wrong to say this was one of his best albums in years
Soo freakin Awesome!!
thank you for the upload
Love this cover.
OMG!! is beautiful😍
beautiful
That's a Sears "Buck Owens" that he is playing
The other Fellow is playing a Harmony "Jet Set" Jumbo!!
Cheers Jim👍. I’ve seen him play this on a few vids, but could never make out the name.👍🎸🏴
Great looking guitars! Could only imagine how much they run for
This is great.
Ryan sounds the same live or studio that's hard to find
Brandon Hannick his voice is hauntingly amazing. Even when he sings without a mic. He sounds like he is singing with echo
Play Dear Chicago cuz i havent cried in a while
God dammit I wish I was around in the 70s to buy that Buck Owens guitar for $100. Now they want thousands.

Looks like the guitar played in the nirvana mtv unplugged.
+Ryan Archibald I think its a Buck Owens Harmony Model...

Pat Smear did play an identical guitar in that show.
Lucas Henrique Garcia correct

he got the same guitar like Pat Smear in nirvana mtv unplugged
Rick Moranis hasn't aged a day although he looks a little more hipster these days.
