He hits hard he reminds me of weezer's drummer,Pat in that way ...I play drums as well and I didn't know this drummers name but I like his style the best w RA
@@Ironworthstrikingnot to mention Mike completely fucks up that solo and ruins the song imo. His guitar sounded intentionally mistuned and overpowered. I wonder what was going on.
kinda think its funny the comments below as to the drummer missing up which by the way is barely noticeable and adds to the charm of live performance AND NO KNOW DOES LIVE LIKE RYAN, he and his band are great, one of the few current artist who can really pull off great live shows, RATW is correct as well Ryan is a very loose undisciplined player and his band all know that, its ART
"one of the few current artist who can really pull off great live shows" It's funny how often I see a similar comment on many of my favourite artists videos. Either I just happen to pick good bands or there actually a lot of bands are really good live.
It's tragic that this song doesn't have an official music video and that one of the best live performances caught on video the drummer comes in so late that everyone aged a few years.
I can't sleep, can't go home Underneath the branches of a sycamore tree On a darkened road With this key, scratched into the wall I spell out your name, it's fucking with my head Fucking with my heart As the autumn leaves begin to fall Walking down the street where you and I would walk I see him Kim, Kim, Kim I can't sleep, can't let go Underneath my feet it's miles Nothing, there's nowhere to go With this key, scratched into my arm I spell out your name, it's ringing in my head Like a false alarm As the leaves begin to fall and grey Walking down the street I watched you walk away To be with him Kim, Kim, Kim Oh Kim! Like a crater, like I've never seen Walking down the streets we'll never walk again Kim, Kim, Kim, Kim Oh Kim!
He is :). I think so too, Ryan seems to really enjoy the company of the Shining. They all seem like pretty mellow down to earth dudes like Ryan himself (at this point of his life at least.)
I saw Ryan and the shinning twice in London last year and the drummer was brilliant at both gigs. Although in the second gig they all sounded better together the 2nd time!
It's hard to tell who is responsible for the small hiccup but honestly we're talking a few seconds lol. It really doesn't mean a thing considering how amazing the overall performance is. I agree that this is one of the best performances of 'Kim' that they've done.
To be fair, it's not the drummer. Ryan - unusually - jumps the gun but the drummer first hit comes in as if he didn't, and he then adjusts realising he's now behind.
Agree with RATW, i think the drummer would've been better off sticking to the count. He tried to save Ryan but made it sound worse. Ryan came in with 'kim' too soon. The drummer was REALLY close to the count though, so more on DRA than the drummer, in my amateur opinion...
it really is ryan. Drummer's counting on his leg all the time, and then the guitar comes in a tad late, trying to compensate and subsequently missinge the 2
Yeah, Ryan's meter is all over the place. You can see Freddie tapping out triplets on his leg trying to figure out which of the tempos he is going to come in at then Ry jumps in early with the guitar to boot.
I rather have a little miss beat to remind my that rock stars also mess up and that I'm not watching a Fake performance.. But that's just me there's a lot of perfect people out there now days..
It's ok. But I think you mean Little "Mister" Perfect who reminds you.... (Andrew Gallagher) Unless you are the type of misogynist who thinks men should be insulted by being called a woman. Also, Andrew is correct. The drummer isn't just late; he's off for so long and so often, it's unsettling.
The drummer comes in so late on the first snare hit lol! Probably has a click but still, got to play to the instruments around you. Got to play the song lol.
To be fair Ryan started a bit early with "kim" before the drum part and confused him... And I loved it anyway; people really like to argue over stupid things.
To me what he is doing ‘is’ mastering the neck... I know what your saying though (I’m not saying it disrespectfully)... I’ve never been impressed with ‘shredders’... to me how RA plays & sings is craftsmanship!
@@keviniverson yup. I could listen to him all day. I covered one of his songs on soundcloud using a gretsch using a capo playing it like an acoustic. No where as good as the man himself.
No one's off really, if anything its a fraction of a beat, like way back in the pocket, I think it feels more off because the first hit wasn't with more confidence. That's a little bit of a tricky timed sequence anyways.
Alan Howell I agree. The cardinals were something else. When I saw them live it seems like they do all Ryan’s old songs up tempo and it never really felt right.
I think you mean Ryan. Count along with his meter before Freddie comes in, it's all over the place and since he starts the song it's his to screw up. Great song regardless and at least they weren't playing to tracks.
Watching this reminds me of why I fell in love with music.
My favorite preformance of this song. The solo guitar playing is so pleasing, and the tone on Ryan's guitar sounds amazing. A+
Mike’s guitar was mistuned and overpowered and he screwed up an entire scale.. wtf are you listening to(?)
Freddie Bokkenheuser is an outstanding and soulful professional drummer. Period.
He hits hard he reminds me of weezer's drummer,Pat in that way ...I play drums as well and I didn't know this drummers name but I like his style the best w RA
Outstanding album, every song is great. I think it's his best work.
I’m inspired to pick up my guitar. Feels like a Replacements tune.
So many from this batch learned it from Bob, Tommy, Paul, and Chris👌🏻
Ryan Adams always tried to be Westerberg yet always fell short. Mike Viola (lead player) is the better songwriter in my opinion.
@@christophernewton1437 have to disagree. Adams is a master songwriter.

Amazing performance by Ryan Adams!
great live version !!!!!
Ryan Adams and the cardinals. Now that was a tight band live. And the tone they produced was amazing
Sublime, a pure talent ❤️
One of my fav perform ever
Cant believe this was 7 yrs ago ALREADY - feels like 6 months ago
What a song!!!
This is so well mixed. Sounds so good.

Mike Viola and The Shining are some tight musicians..especially Mike....Hes (Ryan Adams) got to be a "handful" to play with in a band.
Exactly

I thought it was Ryan who messed that timing part up? I’m not sure. lol
Ryan came in off-time, the drummer was correct
I can't sleep, I can't let go...
my favorite song of his
Absolutely amazing
Music move me.Hes so good.
Badass song. Don't pick it apart. It's good shit,!!! We get it , you can play too. But they are on stage.
I really wish the algorithm wouldn't show me him anymore

Apparently the drummer is from Copenhagen. I suspect he is a great guy and fun on tour!

I love his Weyland and OCP patches. Good films.

The blip sounds cool, who cares? At the start of born to run on record the drummer goes off around the 5 second mark and it sounds fucking ace
The hiccup was on Ry. Unusual for him. The drummer tries to pick up and cover it, hence the drums sounding off.
Not hard to notice... count along and wait for it, 1, 2, 3, 4...
Yeah, Ryan's meter is all over the place. You can see Freddie tapping out triplets on his leg trying to figure out which of the tempos he is going to come in at then Ry jumps in early with the guitar to boot.
Mike Viola’s bum note at 2.29 that he attempts to quickly bend in to the right note. 🤔
Wow

if you listen close you here there is something going on with Ryan's guitar aswel.. 🧐
Rather a mistake than being perfect and hearing a machine! There is a whole song here by the way in case you missed it!

No big deal! human after all!
One job.
Hope Ryan has cut his fringe - so unflattering for a good looking guy like him
Does it annoy anyone else when singers close their eyes and all the guitarists are staring at their feet the whole time?
weyland yutani and OCP patches lol
Everyone crucifying the drummer?? 🥁 Last time I checked, he was human.. Get a life! 😁
Damn, Ryan was skinnier here :P
This band makes me miss the Cardinals.....
Shit happens and I too have fucked up, just for the record... xxx
Love how he plays the electric guitar like an acoustic guitar, hence the capo. Gives you hope when you cant master the neck.

Guitarrist fucked up, bad solo.
