Dear Grado and all people in production! I love you all and my new Grado SR80e so much. I hear now things i never new they were in songs. sound clear, they so light. I use them for gaming also and they deliver. Cant believe I found out about Grado Labs just couple of weeks ago. Thanks again!
The founder of Grado labs have knowledge of watch making so he implemented to phono cartridge. He closed the fruit store and open Grado labs we know today
Back in the day- that is the turntable day. Grado became known as THE phono cartridge line to buy. For a very little money the Grado F1+ at 50 bucks blew the pants off of any $200 cartridge. The Grado Signature line was the cartridge to have at the end of any audiophile's tonearm and couldn't be beat at any price. John Grado's Uncle Joe was a Metropolitan Opera singer and couldn't find any decent cartridges out there. He became a self taught engineer and beat them all. Now it is the headphone to beat. They don't need advertising, they have always been good enough to sell themselves.
I've bought Grado 80s/60s for my wife, family members and friends as gifts over the years and I even have a couple of spares that I've purchased just to play around with modifying (pads/single cables). I know the very thin headband can be uncomfortable so here's a tip: Buy a head cushion meant for a Beyerdynamic DT770, it fits the Grados perfectly! Happy listening, and keep doing your thing, Grado!
Dear grado family, i've been a fan since the first time i listned to your products. i can assure everyone who doubts on this brand that he only needs to try. My sr225e are by far the best headphones i've used . Thank you for the good quality.
I have a pair of the SR 80e's and I must say, for 100 dollars they are great in quality. I've had Sennheisers that cost more, I've tried in store those dreaded overpriced Beats, and many others. Grado has the most clarity of any headphone I've tried. What's better is they're all handmade and quality control is very tight. I hope to make in a year or so another Grado purchase.
I mean the SHP9500 is at the same price, but they are very different types of headphones with the grado more about treble rather than the soundstage and imaging
hi, just want to say I have bought many headphones, but I was never happy ... until i tried Grado, it really changed my Life, Grado Headphones sound F A N T A S T I C !!! Thank You so much for those Audiophile atonishing and Unique Headphones Sound. Now, i can not use others brands. Grado is the best ever. God bless this Family, Gratitude, Respect and Blessings from France ~
I love you guys (Grados) so much... and even more so now... to see/hear a lil' bit behind the scenes for me was "Priceless." I recently thought I needed to try some Sennheiser 558's... so I bought em', tried em'.. & realized I had made a mistake. I'm sure the 558's work for many people. Just not for me, so I have gone back to what I know & love.. the Grados.. Thanks for all you do guys! This is one guy that wont be straying again..

Grado, if you're listening: Your e series cables are too thick, the RS1e is completely botched and bloated, the ps500e flakes too easy, only the SR series should use the 3.5mm cable. Some of the universal e changes have helped certain headphones (325) and hurt many others by making the sound signature toned down and bass heavier. Thank you.
Excellent story and yes excellent product! I cant say enough about the SR80E's that I I own, the sound and look great. There is a Grado fanboy club now that experiments and shares ways of customizing their already amazing sounding headphones. I have changed out my ear pads for red and want to get up the nerve to do the cable mod. There is such a wonderful culture around these headphones and now I see the humble product focused company behind them! Thank you for all that you do to provide fantastic sound for the everyday man! and as you said in the video, I will keep spreading the Grado gospel !!

I appreciate that the ear pads are designed for the sound you wish to deliver, but PLEASE make them more comfortable. Secondly, while I love the sound from your chosen cables, making them detachable would be far more convenient when storing/displaying the headphones, and better when a shorter run of cable is needed. Love you guys and want to continue supporting you ❤
Absaloute marvelous. best headphones put there without a doubt. Forget your beats. These are something else. amazing sound like my genesis car amp you can hear something special in these. I'm coming to the us to buy you top pair from Brooklyn 1 day. Once I can afford a holiday there lol
I don't know all the brands, or the latest hype. I bought a set of Gr80e's and I couldn't believe the sound. Songs that I have listened to for fifty years, songs that I knew by heart, I felt like I was hearing for the first time. Great product. Earbuds in the near future. As soon as I saw Grado made them, I stopped shopping.
Unbelievable products for the price (I have a pair of SR-80is and a Prestige Green), and it seems like a really decent family-run business to boot. Bravi tutti!
I like the grados. Owned the sr80, sr125,Sr325 and the rs2e. Love the sound signature. However the rs2e was the last one for me. The pads are the most uncomfortable I had. I upgraded the stock cushions to the larger ones to be able to enjoy the headphones. I think they need to improve the comfort seriously esp when you are buying the higher priced models. Why would you buy a gs1000e when it has the same headband as the sr80 at ten times the cost? The sound quality will be better but what's the use if the headphones are uncomfortable?
Grado's are like my guilty pleasure... when I first put them on I was thinking... ohh I shouldn't like these as much as i do... but deep down... i do... colored sound or not... I like em! = D
Their products are affordable, comfortable, give a high quality sound and almost perfect... twisting the wires more than 360 degrees ends by damaging them, I myself had to mod a SR-60i
Grado could play the nostalgic/vintage factor and sell a ton more. but then they would have to find a way to keep making them by hand and quality will drop. they could at least make the bluetooth gw100 ones better and more similar to the sr60/80e
We can all have opinions, even if they're wrong :) I only say this because I have my money on you trying Grado's flagship ps1000e at $1700 then switch over to maybe the Shangri-La's, Orpheus HE-1's, Hifiman HE1000's, or Stax SR-009's.... there might be some (all) that sound "better" to you.
@@zaimkarii1756 it ruins the sound in my opinion. Grados are tuned for their specific cushions. But to be fair, I'm mostly talking about the Hemp. Might try more pads on my sr60e just in case. But after bending the headband I have no comfort problems with my sr60e anyway.
Don't know these guys but have ultimate respect for their approach to manufacturing and marketing. I will now look into them! PS - IMHO the music track is extremely distracting - a loop that adds nothing to the presentation. As far as the guys who ave written, "what's the great track?"...sorry.
Gary Waugh john grado is a really famous person in the headphone world.. made great high quality headphones without making your wallet suffer.. and also grado's headphones have a unique character sound that pleased audio enthusiast for years
If i own this company, i would boost marketing budgets & focus on the components, better materials & audio drivers, coz ive tried them and the volume was kinda low
Zaki El Horan Can I just say that when I was a child, I thought the Grados were the be-all-end-all headphones in terms of looks? I honestly liked them THAT MUCH. I still do like the looks today. But hey, maybe I was different from the kids back then.
John Grado died shortly after this video was made. As people age, the frequencies that are audible to them get narrower and narrower, which explains why Grado headphones sound so sharp in the treble, because an 80 year old man was tuning these headphones.
Proud owner of a pair. Best bang for the buck. But being open cans, it is not suitable for all listening environments. If you can control where you listen to your music, these babies get you to at least 80 something percent of the audio quality curve. Just be prepared to pay far more for each increment in audio quality. Far far more.
Most of the audience can't hear the sibilant, ear ringing, overpowering highs that these put out because 90% of the people that buy these are old and cant hear above 16k, including the guy who sound demos grado's that was shown in the video. This goes for all grado's, even going up to the gs1000i's, for one they all have the same grado sound signature, and 2 they all have the same overwhelming highs, and I don't understand why nobody does anything about it over there at grado...
its straight forward. Cheap plastic feel, foam nobody likes but never the less is a no frills get the job done headset for the money. must listen to a pair in order to appreciate them.
rs2e n o t your typical headphone and I do mean n o t. when i put on hd800s i hear a headphone. when i put on the rs2e i hear the life sound true to life sound
I'm bored cause they always mention about the Grado "happy family" had a fruit store etc , good they're a happy family but actually i don't care and (as a grado fan) didn't bought all my grado 'phones & cartridges caused of that. I will really appreaciate if they'll show us and talk about how the build the hi-end cartidges & headphones, how they make / retip the styli and other more important things than the family story! They also (almost) don't mention the founder Joseph Grado ,the one who tought John all the secrets and hold all the paterns that grado company is proud for!
bcdhifi I cant agree more. Really.... what are they doing? Downscaling their own achievements, shying away.... Seems these guys really needs ti have a good vintage testesterone shots.
I own the grado rs1i headphones. I like them quite allot but i wish these had a bit more bass and a wider sound stage. These really are for serious listening sessions. Every thing about this pair of headphones screams delicate luxury and should be treated as such. These are NOT good for office listening or playing video games. They are not your subway phones either nor should they be thrown in a back pack and carred off to high school. The best way to listen with these is in a comfortable chair in a quite place; eyes closed.
Very bad sound, have you ever heard any Bose headphones/earphones? Worst purchase in my life was their in ear model IE2 (same sound as MIE2, SoundSport, SoundTrue etc.). Only good model of theirs is that flagship with noise cancellation, but it's good only if you need noise cancellation, sound isn't that great as well. Very highly commercialized company that makes very overpriced crap, similar to Beats audio. Good companies are: Fitear, FAD, JPS, GM, Shure, Audeze, Sennheiser, Stax, Grado, ATH, Sony, Unique Melody, Jerry Harvey Audio, Noble/Heir Audio, Ultimate Ears, Phonak Audeo etc. Not Bose, Beats (Monster), Harman/Kardon, those are crap ones.
Zachary Veteto You don't have much experience with headphones then... Bose are very bad sounding headphones, huge bloat in mid bass and virtually no sub at all. Those noise cancellation are the only thing useful they have in their range because it really does cancel noise, other models are disaster... But they are highly advertised and they are in like every store around the world, so that's why they are popular. Check out those companies I mentioned, JPS and Stax cost over 5000$ but there are some cheaper there, like Shure, Senn, few models from Grado, Sony and as you said yourself Audio Technica make good value. Bose are really bad in opinion of anyone who heard a lot of headphones.
Ok Grado do a deal with Massdrop on a set of your 325s and get more of your quality Headphones in the hands of people who can not afford them usually and don't want to settle for entry-level 60s
Right, so many people praise grado but there’s much better headphones for the price with better sound quality and build quality, If your looking for a good set of headphones for under a hun’id I’d recommend Phillips shp 9500 or 9600, I’d even recommend the at m40x before I’d recommend grados
They actually better than dt990 in sound accurate. The sound signature is weird but make thing sound good and funny enough it make games so enjoyable. They have enough bass for game make explosion have impact. The detail is insane. You can hear every single detail
You really need to try before you buy, Grado have a very distinct sound. Background, I have a pair of Sennheiser HD650's, Momentums, Fostex t50rp, Sony Mdr-V6. When I heard the Grado GS1000i, I thought was this a prank? how can a sub $1000 headphones sound sooo bad, no depth, harsh and thin like a radio from the 60's. This video is great, I'm sure these guys are lovely, but they make terrible headphones.
Dear Grado and all people in production!

The best way to listen with these is in a comfortable chair in a quite place; eyes closed.
definitely not the best, well built or the most technically capable cans out there, but the music out of the grados certainly sound special.
This is an advertisement for Grado Labs.
grados are for straight pure raw jazz, rock and roll, classical, thats why their sound is prefered by older people
can't younger people listen to rock and roll or classical?
NonsensicalVids yes, but its not prefered by them, usually they like edm and pop, can you understand that???
Cz grado has its own royal customers
+Adhyantoro Kusumo You mean "loyal", right?
yup u r rite lol
grado headphones are the best for jazz but not for classical music
r/Headphones does enough advertising for them, lol.
This video is an advertisement though.
In Itaaly people say 'why go to the mooon when you can singg to itt'----Dana Carvey
Grado, Audio Technica, Monster, Bose, Sennheiser, Harman Karden. You decide.
Bose is so bad that it's really shame you listed it with those other, even tho harman kardon and monster aren't so good as well in general.
Why aren't they good then
Very bad sound, have you ever heard any Bose headphones/earphones?
Yeah man I have had a set of Bose headphones that sounded incredible. They were stolen from me. Shit sucked.
Bose are really bad in opinion of anyone who heard a lot of headphones.
director of marketing for a company that doesn't advertise. what
marketing doesn't mean advertising.
Grado's are great, except for the cables...
+Yang Pei I like the thick cable. What don't you like about it?
is this a donut shop ?
Ok Grado do a deal with Massdrop on a set of your 325s and get more of your quality Headphones in the hands of people who can not afford them usually and don't want to settle for entry-level 60s
They sound same. I tried 325 and 60 and no major diffrent. I got the 125
Thanks for not selling fruit. Fruit does not sound this good.
the quality of the audio components is good, the quality of the rest of it is complete junk. Nasty plastic, cables fray, etc.
Right, so many people praise grado but there’s much better headphones for the price with better sound quality and build quality,
If your looking for a good set of headphones for under a hun’id I’d recommend Phillips shp 9500 or 9600, I’d even recommend the at m40x before I’d recommend grados
eyyy i'm an unemployed watchmaker and i see a lot of watchmaking tools, can you hire me ? :u
What is Grado is it really worth the money is it really good is it really better than beats by Dre
They actually better than dt990 in sound accurate. The sound signature is weird but make thing sound good and funny enough it make games so enjoyable. They have enough bass for game make explosion have impact. The detail is insane. You can hear every single detail
@@zaimkarii1756 thanks for telling me 4 years later
@@luminousalarm8291 🤣🤣🤣
@@luminousalarm8291 its time to spend on Grado because they improve the comfort by add padding in the new model of Grado
cool people, but that doesnt make their product less overpriced and overhyped
You really need to try before you buy, Grado have a very distinct sound. Background, I have a pair of Sennheiser HD650's, Momentums, Fostex t50rp, Sony Mdr-V6. When I heard the Grado GS1000i, I thought was this a prank? how can a sub $1000 headphones sound sooo bad, no depth, harsh and thin like a radio from the 60's. This video is great, I'm sure these guys are lovely, but they make terrible headphones.
Johnny Chen I haven't heard the grados but that's a common reaction among people
And the on ear fit just isn't that comfortable, over ear wins hands down
I had some RS-1's with matching amp, which is $40 in parts for $495. They did nothing special. I sold mine.
Do you have a proper amp to handle the impendance?
Aaaand you're wrong
Up your game in build quality please. 500$ headphones are not supposed to fall apart.
I never heard a Grado, but I don't think they are better than AKG. AKG 550 MKIII are much better in design and quality.
how would you know if you have never heard of grado?
Exactly how hipsters love it
Cuz they havent come up with anything new since then.=)))
