These are the best headphones in the world. So cool that it's run like a mom and pop operation and I've personally called in to the store and John Grado himself will take the call and answer questions. This is the type of company I'm happy to support. I'll be Grado loyalist for life
After watching this video, I'm going to take extra care of my SR125i just because Mr.Grado and his team put in so much heart and effort into making these 'eargasmic' headphones! MUCH RESPECT!!
Incredible, amazing, awesome! Just picked up my first pair of Grado Labs phones, and I am nothing short of amazed. Great video, thank you for posting!!
Wearing mine right now listening to Digital Bath by Deftones, if you like rock, jazz or classical music these headphones will blow you away. Exceptionally crisp, hit the mids and highs exactly as you'd expect, without overcompensating with a low.
I was gonna say that americans should be proud of such company, Brooklyn based and everything, they surely should be, and then I saw that mexicans are doing some good labour, building and assembling those fine cans, so I'm a proud mexican now.
Amazing. But not surprising. Headphone makers around the world are quite "small" companies most of them still run by the family. Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Ultrasone, Audece, Hifiman, there is a lot to like...
+Tibbs142 Those tower speakers are, I believe, a prototype speakers. It's a high stack of headphone drivers of Grado. I guess, when they play a song through a lot of these drivers it'll be loud enough to be a monitor speakers.
Nothing beats BEATS!!! j/k lol but it just show you how much marketing matter in the world. I own so many pairs from senn & at and I want to get into grados but I'm waiting for the right time to plunge into the 325. I hope John soldering skill was good for whoever getting that one ;)
+willy vlyminck A small business that produces good quality headphones. You know where most of the money you pay goes to. It's the sound quality of these headphones.
Came to see how to pronouce Grado, I always said the more Italian Grahh-dough. Just got myself my first pair of Grado headphones, the cheapest Grado SR60e and was very impressed, but it seems like people say the 80e and the 125e are pretty much the same. So glad I went with the 60e, I've had more expensive but the sound is great, feeling and comfort...feels like Grado put a watch a few sizes too small on my head. :D I need to stretch the band but not too much that I lose the bass from the clamp.
I would like to buy it but they are selling 3 times expensive here in Turkey also there is no guarantee. I can't go out with my big ass Beyer's and open backed Sennheiser's lol.
Bought the prestige series SR125s a few months ago. Sound quality is sweet but the overall assembly and especially cables are horrible - cable connection between the two phones broke and lost contact already - and only used them at home very carefully. Twisted the cable and put some duct tape - works for now. What a shame for a 200 USD product.
Mindaugas Raulinaitis Where do you live? Have you bought 'em from an authorized dealer? Are you sure they are real and not some counterfeit? Grados are not very popular among forgers (unlike Sennheiser for example), but knock-offs are out there.
***** But it can't be that bad. When a 200 dollar pair disintegrates just from breathing on it, there's something fishy about it, and in my opinion requires an investigation. Take a few photos, visit headphone forums, contact Grado, check if your dealer is authorized, etc.
I mean I respect grados but it's a known fact their build quality isn't the best , it's their only way to keep cost competitive without fucking with the drivers. Cause that's where the most budget is going. Plus don't forget Brooklyn is expensive af
They look so low tech, the way they are put together, the drivers and components..I have 325e's and OMG!! they are amazingly simple yet effective, a whole new level in sound quality compared to the big chav brands you might buy if you knew fuck all about the non main stream brands..My mate has never heard of Naim, McIntosh, Rega and thinks the best stuff is Beats, Technics, Denon & Sony, makes me laugh.
The Grado sound probably isn't for everyone. Some people complain that the highs are too piercing. I definitely wouldn't say they sound like junk. You'll never find a headphone that sounds as good as the SR80e in that price range.
It's a signature sound wave that's primarily meant for genres that use sub-bass, highs ans treble. However, the beauty of Grados headphones is that changing ear cups, and some simple mods, will adjust the sound to what you want.

bcdhifi grado never fails!!
As of 2016, I've had my SR 125's for 10 yrs! Love 'em!
It feels kinda cool wearing the Grados listening to where they come from, seeing how they are made. It really makes me appreciate them more.
Incredible, amazing, awesome! Just picked up my first pair of Grado Labs phones, and I am nothing short of amazed. Great video, thank you for posting!!
Very interesting video behind the scenes on Grado headphones & cartridges....I love my RS 1's......
MADE IN THE USA! Makes me feel proud to be a Grado Alessandro ms1 headphones owner. Besides that, I love the sound!
Wearing mine right now listening to Digital Bath by Deftones, if you like rock, jazz or classical music these headphones will blow you away. Exceptionally crisp, hit the mids and highs exactly as you'd expect, without overcompensating with a low.
What a great product and a great success story.
How do they make their drivers? That's what I'm really interested in.
*Ordered the SR 60e a week ago... should be here any day now!!!!!!!*
bcdhifi
Did you ever feel the need to change the ear padding?
Just bought my first grado headphones and I hope to enjoy them !
So many Johns.
Wow. This is awesome.
RIP Mr. Grado.
at about 2:23 you can see the prototype RS1 hanging on the wall !
Now kids we are done with the tour of Grado Labs, let's proceed to Beats location, oh wait, we need to take a flight to China? Nevermind...
Haha promoting
+Boon Siang Tan HAHA NICE!
Forget about the beat. Monster Cable sent all the work force to china making lots of the Americans lost their jobs. Grado is a great American company!
Listening to this on my TechCrunch 800's
Love my SR 80 e Makes everything sound good. Even wear them when I'm not listening to music. ;-)
Wow !!! This is how worlds best sounding headphone is made ?!!!!

But the Mexicans could be born in America. Should be proud of both.
some of them don't look second generation at all
I watched this video with Grado SR80i on my ears.

S80E on my...
George Markaryan Me Three😁
Me too but the video is playing on my phone speakers.. thats open backs for you

what were those 2 sets of speakers in the video? the towers and the tiny bookshelves...
+Tibbs142 Those tower speakers are, I believe, a prototype speakers. It's a high stack of headphone drivers of Grado. I guess, when they play a song through a lot of these drivers it'll be loud enough to be a monitor speakers.
Amazing and homemade!
absolutely beautiful!

This is completely the opposiite from what Apple does, socially spoken, so I like this attitude and hope it remains this way,

I'm not surprised they don't advertise...people would have to be put on a waiting list to get anything
damn, didn't know that grado is old school, so cool
+Cons29 Just look at their headphones lol
+Godin The Killer I like to call them.. Classic
Love me some Grado, but my sound signature tastes have shifted to a more mellow sound and less fatiguing.
Fantastic !
they should invest in a fume extractor for the workers
Look up some DIY Grados with GOOD drivers.
so, soldering all day without fume extractor? :/
0:30 - Opens door and instantly goes inside. Kinda rude.
LazyScoutJace Thought the same, but it looked like it was cold outside :P
rip john
He's alive and well!
DETACHABLE CABLESSSSS lol

I've had several pairs of Grado headphones for years and the cables never broke. Either you were extremely unlucky or you need to be more careful.

too bad grados sound like junk on average
