  • Very Inexpensive link to MRBF fuses - amzn.to/3hByESy (Cheapest i found)
when putting a solar system together there are so many options available for fusing. This video shows MRBF terminals and what makes them different from the rest.
It's by no means an extensive list of fuses, just the more common ones available. Remember when sizing a fuse, they will only protect wires, so choose accordingly.

Battery post cube fuses do work, I used them in the last 10-12 years. But, I always gone for the blue sea the better quality post. Thank you for the vid.

Thanks for watching and taking time to comment 🙏 it's appreciated. I must have been unlucky with mine, they became really brittle in a very short time, but yes the mrbf are nice.

Cheers, must confess, I was going to use a megga fuse and connect it to the battery m8 +ve terminal. Your idea in reducing stress on it is 1000% better idea.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the support and yes direct fusing causes some potential issues with weight of wire etc.

The big difference between the MRBF and T is the amp interrupt rating. The MRBF spec sheet specifies between 2000A@58v, 5000A@32v, 10000A@14v. If your battery bank in a short circuit scenario would output more amps than that, go with the T fuse as it can break up to 20,000Amps. For instance I'm using 120x 3.7AH lifepo4 cells, if I estimate high in a short circuit the cells can output 10c that is 37Amp each, x120 cells = 4440 amps, so in my 24v pack, an MRBF is sufficient.

Pity the class T etc are so expensive, but then again a fire caused by a dc arc could be catastrophic. I think I’ll cough up for MRBF and a Class T at my inverter. I only have ANL fuses at present, but I never leave the inverter on unattended.
Once again really useful information, interesting how the MRBF terminal block is isolated from the post 🙂

Yes the T class are an arm and a leg, but they do outrun the competition where it matters. It's one of those things you hope to buy once but never need.

Good fuse review , I have been using the marine fuse on my boat batteries for several years . My concern being that if say the engine starter cable created a direct short the full battery capacity would instantly flow and burn cable insulation and battery probably rupture ( runaway).
Also the brass contacts on isolator switch could fuse weld due to excessive heat and be inoperable.
I watched a video years ago of a test on these fuses when massive short created and they blew instantaneously.
I think they are also encased to prevent spark if in ignition sensitive zones ie petrol engines.
You a doing great work , surprised not more sub's.

Yes "T-class" fuses are expensive, but as my system runs 24/7 I think it's cheap insurance!
