- Meet my truck, a 1985 Chevy K10 lovingly known as Big Green. While it ain't perfect, it's mine and I love it. Now pay attention and we'll see what this thing can do.
#Chevy #Trucks #Mud
Doesn’t matter if it’s a Chevy, Ford or Dodge, there’s something nostalgic and honest about a square body truck.
That is true. I own 2 square bodies. I love them both
Totally agree with you I love my 89 F150 4 x 4 five-speed
Damn it. I was just going to post the exact same thing. I'm not brand loyal. But man the old square bodies get the octane flowing.
In my honest opinion the ford bullnose is a way better looking truck than the square body much more roomier to
Yes
I love big green. Nothing like an old truck.
I’m sure that truck gets more looks driving down the road than any modern truck. Looks like a brick, rides like a brick, and built tough like a brick too!
And you don't have to worry about the ECU turning into a brick- because it doesn't have one. :)
That's good, but brick don't hit back!
Hits like a brick house
If Eaton or Yukon are watching, might be time to show what a donated rear locker can do in this truck.
It needs something before the stock gov bomb blows up and makes a mess in the rear end. Truetracs in both axle's would be really cool, unless he drives it on the street in snow.
I love how you cheer for whatever truck you're driving, almost willing it to succeed!
"She'll hold together. ... You hear me baby? Hold together." -Han Solo
Eh, you do realize this machine blew away 98% of the crazy expensive "off road" truck packages you've tested? Loved it! (I had a red one back in the day;)
The good old days of trucks when you had a 1/4 turn of play in the steering wheel, you rode with no seat belts, and if you pulled your weight that day dad gave you a couple sips of beer on the way home as long as you didn't tell mom.
That sounds just about right.
I love this truck so much, I'm glad you still have it. Don't ever get rid of this thing! I had one of these twenty years ago when I was a kid, and sold it. I regretted it ever since. As far as a starter, that should take you less than an hour, and it's probably header gaskets, cuz I had to change them a few times on mine. The t-case in that should be an NP208, which is about a 2.6: 1 low range if I remember correctly.
These old square bodies bring back memories of when I was a kid riding with my dad. The squeak of that clutch pedal!!! Love it
I love the old square body chevys. This was when chevy was the best . Thankyou for a awesome great video. All my 4x4 trucks have tsl super swampers that's the only mud tires I'll buy. Yall all take care and be safe.
I think rear locker and front limited slip would be a great combination
It's nice to see big green again. I was wondering if you were done doing videos with her or not. Nice to hear that you are planning more upgrades and preventative maintenance to keep her going.
Thank you. Finally a Big Green update. Nice job making all the new ones look bad in the mud old girl. Like it was a day in the park even limited slip yet alone a locker. Squarebody for the win.
I was just wondering what happened to big green. Good to see the Ole girl is still going strong
Makes me miss my 77 Blazer. It had a 350 and the 4 speed with the bull low. Of course finding another one in Ontario that isn't all rotted out would be difficult. Enjoy Big Green.
So glad I own one of these bad ass trucks. I drive mine everyday and yeah it ain't fast but sure is fun to drive
Had a 87 square body, short bed in blue like this one, when I was young. Loved that thing.
Nice old truck..... It's relatively light weight and grippy Coopers sure makes it a good mud machine!
Absolutely beautiful pickup.
Can't wait to see you get your hands on a 1948 Power Wagon!
Love these older trucks. Simple mechanical trucks with a stick.
Oh man sexy truck , love the square body , brings back memories of 80's and early 90's vehicles 👌🏽👌🏽
It’s cool you still have the TFL and Colorado stickers on the back glass of BG.
Love that old Square Body Chevy.
Big green brings back memories
Gotta love old chevys
Oo boy... I fell in love with this old machine, kudos my friend.
Big Green don't care. Love the simplicity of old trucks.
I had a 78 K10 with the 4 speed and NP205, 4" lift and 35s. These trucks will bounce you anywhere you point them.
Love this Truck...Proper tires makes all the difference.
Love the enthusiasm! You sound like a NHL commentator during a series game! Good show. 👍🏼
stt pros are definitely mud tires even though cooper lists them as all terrain i have a set on my 2014 silverado and love them
High clearance and good tires with low heating get you along way compared to some of the new tech.
Awesome truck! They don't build them like they use to!
Off road vehicles in the 60s, 70s, and 80s are better than what they make today or for the last 20 plus years and I love how you take big green and make these new trucks look like the crap they are!!!
This guy gets so excited while four wheeling
I want to do anything that makes me as happy as this guy goin thru the trails! I got a 2nd gen dakota 4x4 but have very limited off road aftermarket support. Im sold of the coopers now tho.
Subscribed for the square body, not Steve's the Chevy. Please don't disappoint me the entire year has been a control freak of nature.
Big Green is a great old girl. Can't have enough BG videos off road!
I’m a Ford guy that absolutely loves ole Big Green, this old Chevy has so much character, I didn’t appreciate these trucks back in the day, now I do!!! A friend had a 75 Ford, 351 (think it made like 169 HP)4wd on mud hog tires with a manual and it was a beast, but compared to the trucks today it had a horrible ride, you heard every mechanical sound, probably slow in comparison to today’s trucks, but it was beautiful and we were young and healed fast. Where’s your Dad, heard him when he thought you broke it, he’s rough as a cob, but dang he does a great job and your learning from the old guy!!!
Yeah I was running the camera and hoping I wouldn't need the dozer to pull him out. Dad
@@TruckKing really enjoy watching you and your son, my oldest is now 38 and really think of him now as a good friend. Yall do an awesome job together. Just really gotta to say I love the idea that there’s good ole boys even up in Canada, for years I’ve enjoyed Red Green and last year discovered a Canadian show called Corner Gas which I think I watched every episode in a couple of months. I’ll watch and thumbs up as long as y’all turn out video, hope y’all make so much You Tube Money you got to put it in more than a couple banks. What did you think about the TRX, I can’t afford one but I can dream.
@@poppyneese1811 thanks for the kind words. TRX - straight up -Wow! That was a good day.
Stephen, that is a really nice and great truck.
I had those COOPERS and never got stuck and I buried my truck in mud .never left me stuck weather mud or snow...
All this new technology can't beat an old crawler gear. My grandpa had an old Jimmy he said that thing would go up about anything
If that truck has air, tilt, cruise, pwr locks, pwr windows and dual tanks..... it’s my dream truck.
Does have dual tanks - the rest? Not so much...
Big fan of Big Green! Really liked your thoughts on the value of the right tires as well. Plus it was fun watching you enjoy yourself. A boy and his truck, playing in the mud!
Thanks 👍
I have 85 GMC 4x4 and it is just fun to drive.
I had an ‘86 short bed with a 4in lift. Never got stuck in the Jersey Pines mud holes.
Been waiting for this video for ages. Love Big Green. Tires tires tires. BG is a beast. If you ever want to sell I’m 10 minutes from you in Brampton.
I have an 86 gmc k1500 same transmission and 4 low is amazing in these truck and makes them more capable than they really should be
I had a Stock RED 1984 Chevy K10 4x4 Scottsdale. I rebuilt most of it with a NEW GM create 350 motor. I sold it for dirt cheap and now I miss having it.
You should put a turbo 400 trans in it. Would be a lot more practical for daily use, and easier for off road, considering I don’t like pushing in a clutch every 3 seconds.
seen when they built few years ago Nice all around set up stick is nice for off roading.
zero dislike. and i can understand why. you and big green looks so happy
Love this truck! And your reviews are great keep up the good work!
Makes me miss my C10. Love this video
Yessssssss I was wondering when Big G was going to show up!
My mom and dads neighbour had a K2500 GMC....you needed the seatbelt on to keep you in the seat. I had a ride up the old pole line north of Hanmer. We crossed McGrindle Creek and the water was over the hood. Old GMC and Chev 4WD Pickups were built like tanks. Now, sadly they are super wimpy.
That's my dream truck. Treat that girl well!
Way to go, Big Green! Stephen, I’ll save you all the winter work & baby money that you would spend-just sell me B. G.🤔💴. I promise she will have a great home down here in South GA
Not yet.
A lunchbox is bout $200. Did one in my 84 swb last winter, went from stuck in the driveway to 2wd just bout anywhere in the snow.
Ah those old Chevys with the flexible frame. Watch the bodyline along the truck when it crosses the ditch at 9:30. It must move at least 4 inches to help with articulation. Modern pickups with crewcabs and short bed as well as stiffer frames have to rely on suspension and disconnecting sway bars for articulation. It doesn't hurt that it probably weighs 2000 lbs less than modern pickups either. Those were the trucks that made Chevy's reputation, its been downhill since then. Of course some of them had trouble getting 15 miles per Imperial gallon I guess its progress?
Great video have fun..
Tires are great but my first choice would be a winch cause once your stuck that winch might be what gets you home !
A winch would be good - for now its Dad, the tractor and a chain.
Big Green is awesome looking forward for new videos. Thanks and Be safe.
Thanks, you too!
Awesome fun of muddying with big green👍🏻
Love Big Green, take care of it forever!
Another 👍 for Stephen 🇨🇦💪👍🇺🇸
Got to love the old trucks! Nice video.
Big greens well-balanced.👍🏴
hehehe. Love your commentary man,,, nice truck
93 Cummins leveling kit and 35’s. Kinda crazy how much they will actually do
SQUARE BODY!!!!!...YES!!!!...Right on Truck King!!!😀😁😂Romans old Chevy!!!
Maybe do a 4 inch lift on the ram and a set of Cooper tires..
The way you was revving the motor and don't have to but you will definitely need a clutch now but like the video and all the older trucks were just built for all the work and mudding plus I like the manuel control on the transfer case it should be a 203 t-case
Speed and Power solves most every problem ! 😎
Awesome square body!!
Miss my 78 Chevy. That thing would haul the hay. Think about looking for bucket seats as an upgrade.
looks like you had fun ,,rear locker and that thing would be unstoppable
Definitely something to be said about torque and gearing.
1000x better than boring $80,000 new truck videos whining about infotainment screen sizes!
Keep 'em coming, next let's see a 90s Chevy/GMC K1500 or K2500! (ie. the best truck ever made..)
Great to see it run the course without a problem. Put that in your modern over engineered pipe and smoke it.
I was just thinking about this truck the other day. I was wondering where it went
Love your videos buddy.
Keep them coming
Putting those new trucks to shame 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂thats great
great to see big green back!
Beautiful truck dude!
That was a clutch pop. lmao, it happens to the best of us.
Are you using “Low Range” in the T-case?
Great looking truck!
Pretty truck my 82 squarebody has a 6inch skyjacker lift on 35s bf Goodrich m/ts 350 sb with a 4 barrel elderblock carb only difference I don't want mine to see mud
Not sure Stephen has had as much fun ever as he just had in big green. Something to be said when you get back to basics and the only brain controlling the fun is the one between your ears....not all the other 40 modules and all the extreme foo foo.
Only thing better over big green would be a K5 or Bronco or Ramcharger
K5 Blazer! The REAL Blazer, not that new POS.
I think all pipe headers leak eventually. I think there's some flowy cast items now.
Tcase is probably an np205 which is 1.96:1 but with a granny low it may be more like 3:1 but I’m not sure...
As a combat vet, never been so jealous of a truck
Love older rigs!!!
Stephens yard is more fun than mine ...... great review
I wish I could be in Canada and and see your fun in real world. Unfortunately, we're not allowed to pass Canada's south boarders 🤪
Give it time - then come visit.
Stephen, Is this the first manual on your channel? Some Truck King viewers may be too young to remember that drivers used to shift their own gears.
Yep!
@@TruckKing The hand crank windows are an added bonus.
BG is the Boss.... Love it....
You need to add lockers to the truck to make it formidable!
You need to do something about that rust before Canada's winters eat the whole truck up
True - however as soon as the salt comes out BG goes in the barn.
@@TruckKing Great! That truck is so beautiful.
