For anyone looking for more detail: The gunman (Philipp F.) was a former Jehovah's Witness and 36 years old. He left them about a year and a half ago but apparently, they didn't part on good terms. That's probably why he stormed the hall to take revenge. He killed four men, three women, and one unborn child. He killed himself as soon as the police arrived.
May all of his victims rest in peace.

Avoid, ignore, reject, shame, or mock - especially *_en masse_* - a mentally unstable enough person, they're gonna just snap. Especially if they think you are keeping their family from them. Does anyone know if the gunman had any family members who were active JWs, btw? Because if they weren't speaking to him, I absolutely guarantee you that was a major motive.
Religious Trauma Syndrome is a very real subset of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I had it for a decade. If any of you are going through intense grief/trauma because of a horriible experience with any religious/spiritual group, that is VALID but you NEED a trauma specialist.

@@ember-brandt as a mental nurse health it looks like bipolar in a manic stage as a guess, that will make someone do this, anything will trigger it not just religion, looks like he had it as he wrote a book online supposedly and he fooled the police when they visited his flat , if he was in trauma they would of picked something up, to the contrary he was euphoric and hyped for a long time since he left voluntarily and avoided contact with the witnesses, they didn't traumatize him, he did it to them when he carried out the mission he had in his head to exterminate them. it seems when he realized the police were present that's when he snapped back into reality and killed himself....in your case you seem to have a strong dislike for the witnesses and want to blame them with a passion for anything to do with this case
I am so proud of the police intervening within 5 minutes. Probably stopped the killer before causing even more misery.

I live in Hamburg and was really shocked when i got the "warning: extreme danger" Message on my phone and then read thst there was a shooting just 10 km away from my home and that the attacker wasn't found.

Being a Cop in Germany takes three years of education and training. Becoming a special operations cop takes even longer. Becoming a cop in the US takes a few days. That's the difference.

I very strongly suggest you seek therapy like I did, because I really, really don't want anyone to go through what I did - and, yes, I am also an ex-JW and atheist. You're *clearly* doing this because you're in pain, probably understanding where the mass shooter was coming from more than the people who died and the people here grieving. This level of hatred and anger is never going to make you feel better. Again, ask me how I know. If you really want to make a difference and help people never go through what you did, you need to take care of yourself first. It's been reported that the police were passing by at the moment of the shooting they were rehearsing for such an attack, the shooter saw them and ran he killed himself before they could shoot him

How did the media arrive at the scene at the same time as the police?
On the one hand, these are recordings that the witnesses took with their smartphones and the press is also quickly on site when something like this happens. Hamburg is not that big and a media location with many press houses and television stations.

I thought all Kingdom Halls locked their doors! One Elder would stay by the front door that was locked watching the cameras. They are all supposed to have security cameras also?? This was emplimated years ago.

Well it could have been someone in the crowd. The point is you don't know what happened. And not all kingdom Halls are locked.

My immediate guess was it was someone from the congregation and I didn’t know about the locked door. Just JWs are known as the nicest people to outsiders but I’ve heard horror stories about how they treat each other. Very cultish controlling behavior.
